I
had
to
think
about
whether
to
give
this
hotel
three
or
four
stars.
We
came
into
town
to
visit
family
as
always,
and
since
we
had
not
stayed
at
this
particular
Marriott
(we
have
stayed
at
the
TownPlace
and
Fairfield
in
this
same
location
many
times)
we
decided
to
give
this
Courtyard
a
try.
I
booked
two
rooms
for
our
weekend
stay
so
as
to
accommodate
my
mother-in-law
in
one
of
the
rooms.
Let
me
start
by
saying
that
Matthew
greeted
us
and
though
only
one
of
our
rooms
were
ready
(which
is
weird
since
they
were
connecting
rooms),
he
still
tried
to
make
the
best
of
the
situation.
Now,
in
the
smaller
of
the
two
rooms,
between
the
beds,
the
phone
was
useless
(and
dusty),
as
it
had
no
faceplate
on
it
to
indicate
what
the
various
buttons
were
for.
Though
we
did
not
need
it,
it
just
wasn't
a
good
look.
Also,
the
hotel
clock
between
the
beds
was
not
working
or
charging.
The
display
worked
but
the
controls
nor
the
charger
were
working.
Finally,
in
the
shower,
there
were
some
strips
that
were
loose
underneath
the
shower
door.
I
did
not
know
what
they
were
for
initially,
until
we
discovered
that
those
strips
keep
water
inside
the
shower.
We
had
to
use
a
few
towels
to
contain
the
water
that
seeped
on
the
floor
when
the
shower
was
on.
This
could
have
been
better.
In
my
room,
the
room
was
great,
only
dings
were
that
first,
the
room
pass
transponder
cover
at
the
room
door
was
missing
and
second,
the
outlets
underneath
the
lamps
on
either
side
of
of
the
bed
were
stripped
to
the
point
that
anything
you
plugged
in
was
loose.
That
said,
the
room,
and
the
view
of
Genesee
St.
and
the
airport,
were
great!
Finally,
the
night
before
we
left,
we
finally
got
a
chance
to
get
to
pool
area
and
use
the
hot
tub,
but
we
were
a
bit
disappointed
for
several
reasons:
first,
it
was
not
working
when
we
went
(at
least
not
at
first);
however,
Matthew
did
what
he
could
and
got
someone
down
there
fairly
quickly
to
resolve
the
situation.
What
was
surprising
to
me
was
that
there
were
ants
here
and
there
across
the
entire
pool/spa
room.
Granted,
there
were
not
that
many,
but
if
you
have
customers
who
get
creeped
out
by
insects,
that
could
be
an
issue.
Finally,
I
do
not
know
how
often
the
staff
takes
care
of
the
pool
room,
but
there
were
only
three
towels
available
in
there
when
we
went,
and
in
the
hot
tub
itself,
somehow
there
was
something
at
the
bottom
on
one
side
that
had
a
bit
of
a
sandy
consistency.
Lastly,
this
location
has
a
beautiful
lobby/dining
area
but
it
is
severely
underused.
The
Starbucks
offerings
are
just
meh...honestly
I
could
just
walk
to
the
Starbucks
outside
and
would
have
paid
much
less.
Seems
like
that
space
is
losing
money
because
of
the
little
use
of
the
breakfast
area.
That
all
said,
this
location
has
a
diamond-in-the-rough
in
Matthew.
Though
I
do
not
think
he
is
a
people
person
per
se,
that
young
man
knows
how
to
keep
his
cool,
and
he
tried
hard
to
make
sure
his
customers
are
well-taken
care
of.
I
also
observed
his
interactions
with
other
customers
and
he
really
is
a
knowledgeable,
friendly
person
who
genuinely
tries
his
best.
He
gives
effort,
which
I
love.
As
a
person
who
worked
20
years
in
managed
support
services,
Matthew
is
the
type
of
employee
where
I
use
them
as
examples
to
teach
verbal
and
nonverbal
communication
skills,
as
well
as
customer
service,
to
my
students.
One
last
thing:
as
I
am
huge
on
communication,
two
days
ago
I
emailed
the
general
manager
pretty
much
telling
her
the
same
observations
I
mentioned
in
this
review
and
have
not
heard
back
as
of
yet.
So
all
in
all,
as
we
come
to
visit
family
2-3
times
a
year
and
have
stayed
at
all
three
Marriott
hotels
in
this
Cheektowaga
location,
I
have
to
say
that
with
a
few
minor
changes
and
better
attention
to
detail,
this
location
could
be
a
five-star
attraction.
However,
if
the
little
things
are
not
checked,
what
happens
when
the
big
things
come
about?
