This was one of the best meals I’ve had in years. The food was inspired and the service added to the experience in all the right ways. I would repeat my entire meal over and and over again. Cannot wait to come back !
This was my first time dining at Mereon, and definitely not my last. The ambiance was cozy, with a charming French vibe, tasteful decor, and soothing instrumental music playing in the background. My little sister and I started with the escargot, beef tartare, lamb chops, and foie gras terrine. However, when the foie gras arrived, I was taken aback by its overwhelmingly bitter flavor, which was very unusual to me and not to my liking. I am not usually the type to send food back, especially since foie gras is one of my all-time favorites, so this was a real disappointment. When I brought it to the waitress’s attention, she was understanding, professional, and genuinely kind. After checking with the chef, she explained that their preparation and flavours might differ from other restaurants, and kindly offered to recommend a popular alternative. A few moments later, she returned with the salmon appetizer—and I absolutely loved it! (All the other dishes we ordered were just as superb) I highly recommend Mereon not only for its delicious food and attentive service but also for where it is located. Just nearby there are beautiful views of the water at Millennium Park. This was the perfect spot for a post-dinner stroll. Thank you Mereon, for your thoughtful care and wonderful hospitality!
A charming place with a warm atmosphere that took me back to France. Unpretentious but sophisticated at the same time. Fantastic cocktails that are a cut above. Menu was just right in their offerings, many dishes I would have liked to order so I will have to return to sample others. This was our second time dining here and our experience was memorable once again. Our meals were rich with flavour and portions were ideal. Even the crème brûlée had a nice twist without loosing the traditional taste. A local gem.
I have had the pleasure of eating at Mereon Bistro on several occasions, and it consistently impresses me. The food, the attentive service, and the inviting atmosphere make it feel like a true Parisian bistro. Love their Lobster Bisque, Foie Gras Terrine, Chicken Liver Mousse, and Crevette à la Parisienne (Prawns). The place is charming with an intimate setting that transports you straight to the heart of Paris. The menu is thoughtfully curated, and the wine selection is good. I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful gem for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable dining experience.
Lovely Brunch: Mereon Restaurant Review Located centrally, Mereon restaurant offers a brunch experience that surpasses expectations. Peter was great and his attentive service was excellent. With a menu blending classic favorites and inventive twists, every dish is a culinary delight. The attentive service and stylish ambiance add to the overall charm, making Mereon a top choice for a memorable brunch outing.
Had brunch at Mereon yesterday. Located on the north shore tucked away on a lovely little side street. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and given a choice of seating. The server immediately made sure I had water and my beverage of choice as I waited for my friend to arrive. The menu while not expansive does offer a variety of (predominantly) French cuisine choices. Once my friend arrived we were given time to scan the menu and make our choices. I ordered the Croque Monsieur and my friend ordered the prime rib burger. The food arrived in good time - not too fast but also not slowly. We both enjoyed our meals and found them satisfying and tasty. The only tiny complaint I might have is I think the presentation of the food could be turned up a notch. Following our main course we both shared the Lemon Crepe which did not disappoint. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. We were helped by a couple of servers and both were outstanding! Thank you we will be back.
Located in West Vancouver, this French restaurant has a charming, intimate atmosphere perfect for cold weather or rainy days. Located a few minutes from Ambleside Pier, there is ample parking along Marine Drive and especially out front on Clyde Ave. The decor is reminiscent of a European bistro - simple and elegant with the light pastel colours, French landscape paintings on the wall, the wainscoting, the light wooden chairs, etc. The service was straightforward. We came for the Dine Out experience and the restaurant was busy. We were seated right on time without issue and you could see the waitress balancing both taking orders from other tables and also preparing a few cocktails. Nonetheless, we didn’t wait unduly for anything. The food was delicious. Starting with the Mereon Salad, the blue cheese was fragrant and was served beautifully in bite-sized endives with candied walnuts. The standout though was the Foie Gras Terrine. It was served with a muscat gelée on brioche toast that was rich and light all at the same time. For the main, the Steak au Poivre was unbelievably good. The tenderloin cut was cooked perfectly for us with a beautiful pepper-forward sauce. The prosciutto-wrapped asparagus was a really nice touch as well. To finish, we had the Chocolate Fondant which was delectable. The salted caramel and vanilla ice cream were an excellent complement to the chocolate, which on its own wasn’t too heavy and had a perfectly smooth consistency. Overall, this was a great experience and gives us more the reason to come back to West Van. Every item of food was cooked perfectly and the flavour was so well done. We would love to come back to try their brunch menu next!
The restaurant is fairly intimate but the food is very tasty. All the dishes were excellent. The prices are a bit on the high side but that is probably due to the quality of the ingredients which are excellent. My only suggestion for them is to have a more approachable wine option as most of the wines are very pricey. Overall a good experience.
