I was a member of this gym for 10 years but for the last 3 years I was unable to go but continued to pay my monthly membership which I was fine with because it was my own fault for not remembering to cancel. However, when the time came for me to cancel, I had to go in and speak with an employee. I understand I went in December but when I spoke with someone, I asked if I would be charged the annual fee in January and they told me they will make a note on my account to not charge the annual fee but I would still be responsible for the next monthly fee because it was under a 30 day notice. I told them that was fine and I understood. I just didn't want to pay the annual fee since I would not be utilizing the gym at all. Fast forward to a month later, I got charged the annual fee. I assumed it was just a mistake so I called and explained my conversation with the employee and asked to be refunded. They refused to refund me. They told me the note that was put on my account said that I didn't WANT to be changed the annual fee, not that I WOULD NOT be charged the annual fee. I couldn't believe that was there response and after emails going back and forth with the "manager", they were not budging and eventually just stopped replying to my emails. I find this to be terrible customer service, especially since I was a paying member for so long. I know there $50-$60 wouldn't make or break the company, so why not just refund it and maintain a positive reputation. Instead, they would rather a bad review. They don't care about anything except money and I would never recommend this gym to anyone. Hope your $50 was worth it.

My family and I have been a member at this gym since 2016. In the beginning it was a fairly nice facility. Friendly staff, good deals, clean facility. However, it has been all downhill from there. Not only have they continued to raise their membership fees, but there are all sorts of hidden fees to freeze your membership, cancel your membership, etc. When COVID hit and the gym closed, they continued to charge members their monthly fee. In order to cancel, you must go into the gym in person and speak to a manager, who conveniently is only there 10 am - 4 pm during certain week days. So, there was no way for me to cancel my membership with the required 30 day notice during the pandemic. When the gym did open in July, members weren't even notified that it had opened. We heard through a family friend that it had opened back up. When we went in to finally cancel our membership after months of unanswered emails and phone calls, they told us that we would again be charged for another month for not meeting their 45 day notice, WHEN THE GYM WASN'T EVEN OPEN for us to be able to meet that notice. Not to mention the discrepancy with their website which clearly states it's a 30 day notice to cancel memberships. Besides the administrative issues, the gym is incredibly poorly staffed. It is unsanitary and broken equipment goes unfixed for months (this was even before the pandemic). Their customer service is absolutely horrific. They have not an ounce of respect for their members. I cannot believe it took me this long to terminate my membership. I will never waste another dime on this organization again.

Banks have better hours (seriously banks are open more hours than this gym), equipment is nothing special, they don’t allow guests, extra amenities have basically disappeared, and they’re 4x the cost of another comparable gym. When coming in with my little brother, the front desk clerks first word was “I’m confused” which was the final straw. Terrible operations, and worse customer service. The guy who often works the front desk should be replaced.. makes me, and others, dread going there.

Well what a frustrating time. I went over to start a membership and potentially an Personal Training. And I told the person that I was going away for couple week and he said I could put my membership on freeze. While I was alway the PT asked when I was coming back so he could plan his schedule. I said to him to do it without me and that I was going to do the PT next year. He said that I was charge already for 8 sessions $680. I told him to refund the money as I wasn’t agreed on being charge for it. I got back couple days ago and went over to talk to the manager CHRIS and he wasn’t there. I went back today and he said that I was charge by verbal agreement and I said well I need my refund because I did not agree on it. He said Im not giving you your money back and you should leave or I’ll call the cops. I said to him don’t bother I’ll call the cops. Witch I did . This is very frustrating for a place to take money out of your account and refuse to give it back. I already called my lower, i can’t believe this is happening. I would say to who ever is thinking about being a member to this place #BSC be careful and think twice.

This place is a joke. They closed their gym due to the pandemic and continue to change membership fees. I tried to call and email them during this period requestig cancellation, but no one was responding to emails and calls. Now they charged membership fee for the next year, even though I already requested cancellation of my membership. Heard from the news they are going bankrupt. This just couldn't happen soon enough. They deserve this outcome in every way possible.

oh gosh I mean they robbed us. I used to go with my dad until covid started when they closed. They started charging us for every month they were closed and refused to stop with horrible support and neglected emails. Edit: I’ve been reading the reviews they have been responding to and have not addressed the issue of their criminal business practices. Honestly sickening considering it has a nicer facility than most gyms in the area.

They make it VERY difficult to quit. I was on a monthly membership. I have gone in (“sorry person isn’t here”), made calls (“send letter”), sent a “quitting” letter (was returned through mail)... finally, my Bank of America was enlisted to stop payment a couple of months ago. Six months ago, I joined, went twice, informed them I was leaving the area... they are still threatening me to go to a collection agency. Ps. I have excellent credit and always pay my bills.

This is a great facility with great amenities and great customer service. They are a no-frills kind of place where the focus is on helping you achieve all your fitness goals. I strongly recommend BSC Westborough for people who are serious about their training for whatever they're going after. Members here include triathletes, distance runners, team-sport athletes, and general fitness seekers.

Actually it’s 0 stars.. Worst club possible... please read your contract before signing anything.. got charged for 6 months after first $1 month.. also cancellation is 45 days notice so you pay extra .. Cancellation only by manager Paul who works 9am to 4pm so you cannot cancel after office. Staff is super arrogant and told us to come before 6pm twice on week days but manager was gone by 4pm. This is a money scam PLEASE READ CAREFULLY and JOIN (I personally won’t) lots of good gym and other workout place in town. Worst experience (I would even recommend LA fitness over this)

Buyer Beware! Horrible customer service! My account was on freeze for several months then I decided to cancel due to joining another local gym. I canceled in person but continued to get billed for 6 months. Once more I tried to cancel in person just for them to charge me $10 and tell me it takes 45 days so I'll be billed one more time. Paul Sieberd (on-site customer server manager) just said sorry and Christine Calamita (on-site general manager) said there's nothing she can do because the system will not let her. I also emailed Michael Poirier (VP Operations), with no response as of yet. Between the monthly billing and annual membership fee, I’m out $700. It’s unbelievable how any business can operate in such a manner without repercussion.

2 is a coincidence and 3 is a trend. It goes without saying there are wonderful and very dedicated staff working here. Some are very willing to go out of their way to make you comfortable. With that being said, like everyone before me, it is clear that the establishment itself only cares about your dollars. Their policies, customer relations and aggressive contracts are just a reflection of problems rooted at the core of the company culture. For this reason, it makes it difficult to recommend this place to anyone.

I did a trial at the gym about a year ago. I had subsequently requested to be taken off of the email/phone number distribution list because I was not interested in the gym. After three attempts via phone, email, text (and assurances that I'd be removed), I still receive messages. If this is an indication of management's capability, I'm concerned about this location. For what it's worth, the gym was kind of nice and had a decent facility.

It has been impossible to get a hold of these people the day after I signed up. We agreed to a 10 day free trail. I was not impressed after the first day, where I found a small overcrowded gym. When I tried to cancel, I was told I could only do it for a manager in person or write in a letter. They just so happen not to have a manager working 8 days in a row or would leave at 12pm, only on the days I could make it. Then, on March 17th, the shutdown came in where the they did not have a guest service line in operation. TWO DAYS AFTER REOPENING. I finally came in a canceled only to find out I was charged for a full month. The cancellation policy says I will be charged for two additional months. Since I have to give a 45 day notice........ I’ve been calling for the past month and still have not received the refund I was promised. I feel sorry for anyone who goes here.

Would be 0 if I could. It isn't about the gym itself. It is about the membership. Beware if you ever want to stop your membership they require you to come in and speak with a manager ( who isn't always there, or only there during your work hours), or send a letter via certified mail. This is the most ridiculous thing ever. They just bank on it being so inconvenient to you that you are stuck paying for extra months, or just forget. It is a shameless way to run a business.

I live a couple blocks away and keep my membership only because I can walk over and know what an ordeal it has been for others to leave (see the other reviews). I wouldn’t recommend it for any other reasons than location and the lack of crowds (due to shrinking membership). The equipment is dated and in poor repair. 8 of the 40 stand-up cardio machines are currently out of order, most of the strength training machines have missing or worn pads, and a couple of the benches are a lawsuit waiting to happen with exposed sharp metal edges and loose joints. The AV system is just a handful of old 32” TVs, some are broken. The pool just reopened after being closed for several months by the health dept. which is a nice improvement. Still, the overall vibe of the place is neglect. I've been looking at the same damaged walls and broken lockers for at least a year. They haven't bothered to swap out the logo of the former owner on the entry sign or even replace the missing letters. The staff is at least friendly but cut down to the bare minimum and largely apathetic. Gym etiquette is most definitely not enforced. Unsupervised teenagers and horseplay are pretty much the norm. A couple months ago I saw a fist fight break out between two high school boys; the desk attendant was too engrossed in his phone to notice, even when one of the two walked past with his eye nearly swollen shut. It's a shame. When I first joined over a decade ago, it was a beautiful gym. With the new Planet Fitness in town, I suspect the ownership is just keeping the lights on until the lease runs out.

I should have trusted the reviews of others who posted on Google and Yelp and never should have taken a membership in BSC Westborough, MA location. The new general manager Josh H and customer service manager Paul Siebert are outright rude. They did not acknowledge promises made by their own ex-employees. They gave me a hard time and did not return the money that they charged me on my credit card without any correspondence. This is like a franchise, so there's no corporate intervention through which you can call and get your money back. I will never step in there again but if in case you do, ask them to give you in writing or email any enticing offer they make before they take your money. Watch your credit card statements for their charges. Remember, THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK WHATSOEVER. My overall experience with Boston Sports Club, Westborough, MA location was awful.

The gym itself is nice. But the corporate policy is a picture of mismanagement. Due to the pandemic I wanted to cancel my membership. They put as many hurdles in the way as possible. I might have thought of renewing once things calmed down, but not happening. I would never go back there. It is unfortunate that corporate is so worried about the membership fees they forget that customer service is what makes customers loyal

Great location, equipment and the pool is a huge bonus...the only negative I can comment on is the fact their equipment (cushions, pads, cables etc.) Has a bit to much deferred maintenance and could use some minor repairs before they turn I to major ones.

Very rude customer support, not willing to help or even listen to the problem. They decided to mark my personal training sessions as "expired" after the trainer canceled the session due to his personal issues. I was never able to use it and when I called to rebook it, the person on the phone was very unprofessional and judgmental.

I went to this gym from November 2019 until Covid-19. I drove from my home in Grafton to come here. I did my research before picking out this gym. It is a 18 minute drive for me, and I have lots of other options. I enjoyed the large facility, vast amount of equipment, sauna and the wonderful staff that some of you are writing horrible things about. I too am a small business owner in town. Fitness facilities are doing their best to deal with influx of requests to cancel memberships. While this may be a small fee to many of you, this is adding up for some of us and will cost us our businesses, jobs and homes. So what if it took you a little extra time to cancel your membership, or if you had to take a couple extra steps. I recall being on hold for 1- 2 hours during the start of the pandemic, and getting told no, no, no on a financial break for my mortgage, car payments, etc... At least you CAN cancel here whereas we can't seem to catch a break. You probably spent more time writing your horrible google review than it took to cancel your membership. This gym is a very nice facility, and reviews like yours could close it down permanently. Then what? Where are you going to work out? Your basement? Yeah right. As if you are going to be motivated to do that. Take a second and pause next time and show a little compassionate and consideration for the businesses that are effected so much especially when you were not effected other than to have to stay home and stay safe. Stay classy Westborough... stay classy.

BEWARE this business. They have overcharged us repeatedly and we can't get the $$ back; when we tried to cancel; we cannot simply cancel our memberships without extreme hassle (visit in person during COVID) or send a certified letter; then get told you need to pay out more money to actually cancel). Pre-COVID, their gym wasn't particularly clean (women's showers - GROSS) and they weren't all that friendly. I have never given a bad review before but come on. I've belonged to a lot of gyms over the years and it speaks volumes that they make you jump through hoops to cancel...because they hope they can string you along to pay for at least a few more months. If they were a better gym, they wouldn't have to treat their customers like this....

The gym is really muggy, definitely smells like mildew the entire time (and sweat etc). Their website and Gympass advertise towels- they don't have towels! Be prepared. The machines are all pretty dated but functional. Desk staff were nice! Just be prepared for the smell and humidity and bring your own towel if you want the sauna- the pool is STILL closed!

I've been a member of this gym for years now. At first it was amazing, always clean, never crowded and has great equipment. Now it's gone down hill DRASTICALLY. Last Summer I was double charged 3 months and it took multiple emails and calls (to their rude front desk) to get this rectified. NOW covid-19 hit. They charged all members for April. ALL GYMS WERE CLOSED. The entire state was closed. They made a public announcement that every member would be frozen and would receive a credit. Fast forward to July. They charge members before gyms are even back up and open. I was never even notified the gym was back open or their plans for covid-19. Then I asked to cancel and they refused unless I went in or sent a certified letter. They then just decided to ignore me. It has been nothing but an ongoing battle with 0 empathy to the staff. There has also been times pre-covid-19 that the gym was not clean and water filters for the bubbler weren't ever changed. The gym has really just gone down hill. Beware. I never write reviews but I felt this poor excuse for "communication" was definitely deserving. ** I would like to update this review. After posting this review my card, on an account I have a confirmed email from Paul Siebert, a manager at the location that my account was frozen, was charged $67.09. I was also charged this in July. That is not my monthly rate. I was charged that last week this was in addition. I also understand the gym sent emails but it was not sent to my email (which is odd). Overall this gym has the worst lack of customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Their staff is complete unprofessional and their practices are absolutely unethical. I have been trying to cancel my membership for over 3 months. When I called I was told I had to come to the gym. Even with all the COVID restrictions! I called three times and was never able to speak with a manager. When I finally went to the gym to cancel I was told there was no manager working!! I will never do business with BSC or their affiliates again. I would stay far away from this place!

I’ve been trying to cancel our membership for over a month now due to a legal matter with a new member and every single time I call I’m told we can only cancel with a manager, but a manager is literally NEVER there. I’ve left multiple email messages on the website with no response and none of the front desk workers bother to take a message. Literally have called 5 times, was even re-directed to Wellesley location and THAT manager wasn’t there! I’ve been calling around 11am-1pm every time I call. This is the gyms way of avoiding you so they can just keep charging you. Ridiculous

When I called the lady at the desk couldn’t help and said the manager wouldn’t be in. If you went in to sign up there would be no problem. I said I didn’t even care about money back just wanted to stop being charged. Sure wouldn’t help and then started with huge attitude. They suck! Look at all the other reviews!

Only reason I am a member here is because of the sauna. Other than that, the gym is not well maintained, gym etiquette is not enforced, and many of the machines are broken or near broken. Safety of the gym is a large concern and crowds of teenagers who hog gym equipment is the norm. I have been at NYSC (formally BSC) for years. The student prices went from $20 to $35 monthly. Clearly not worth the price as the gym can get very crowded and equipment and amenities are not properly cleaned or sanitized. Overall dingy atmosphere. Would not recommend.

Horrible experience trying to cancel my membership. I tried numerous times while they were closed, but no one would confirm my request when they were closed due to COVID. Now they expect me to come in person to cancel even though I'm not comfortable going to a gym with the virus raging. No empathy, no exceptions, etc. They just charged me for my annual fee even though I've been trying to cancel since at least May. Beware - they are only after your money and have no interest in working with you like so many other businesses during this time.
