We spent a day at the zoo with my nephews. There was a parking lot close to the zoo but that was full so we ended up parking on one of the side streets. It cost about $10 for ~5 hours. The zoo is fairly large and the enclosures were all themed to make it feel more like their natural habitat. It wasn't too difficult to see everything on the day but it did involve a bit of walking, which isn't easy with kids in tow. There were plenty of maps around so it wasn't too hard to keep track of where you are in the zoo. I quite like the reptile encounter area as it makes me think that we were in the outback. Like most zoos, there were some enclosures where you couldn't see anything but overall we did see the majority of the animals. The main lawn was a nice large grassy area where we ended up having lunch. There were a few food trucks on the side so it was fairly convenient. The toilets were a bit far near the entrance though. They did have a parent's room with a nappy dispenser but it was empty when I used it which was a bit annoying. Overall it was a really nice place for a day out. Lots to see and do and it wasn't overly difficult to get to. We did drive but there was also a bus stop right outside the zoo. Worth a visit if you do like zoos and animals.

It was amazing! It was so easy to travel to and I was able to get there very easily. I was able to walk through the entire park in less than three hours. The animals were amazing. I could have watched the elephant all day.

Very cute zoo, great day out with young kids and the new restaurant/cafe/playground is lovely. Highly recommend timing it to see the feedings - we went on quite a hot day so it brought the animals out of shade/hiding.

Perth Zoo was like hit and miss for me. The train and ferry rides too and from were awesome, it's the first time in about 20 years. Some changes to paths and surrounds, cafe/restaurant and picnic areas were great but, we came for the animals, for kids probably a fun day but, hey for $38 where are all the animals? Some pens were huge, but 1 maybe two in them, all in all it was a great day.

Perth Zoo is delightful! We were really impressed with the success that they’ve had with their orangutan breeding program. It’s a great zoo because it is immerses you right alongside the amazing animals. From Galapagos turtle to bull elephant to giant salt water croc - there’s something for everyone to connect with nature here. We particularly enjoyed the reptile house - up close and personal with our scaly friends

Well maintained place, clean and friendly staff. Animals are kept in good condition and pampered well by staff. Giraffe, zebra, Koala, 6-7 types of Kangaroos- specially tree Kangaroo, elephants, monitor, huge turtle, bears, monkeys, reptiles, penguins are favourite among others. Lush Greenery and clear pathway directions are helpful. Overall a good experience. Play areas for kids and food joints are available too. Spacious paid parking. Two different stores are available for shopping. Good gifting options in animal forms. Tshirts, caps, and accessories are available. Don't forget to buy animal shaped rings which change their colour as per the mood swings of the person wearing it 😁 Overall 2-4 hours one can spend here. It's worth it to visit this park.

A wonderful place to take the kids, if you have the ability buying the annual pass is an excellent investment. As you don't need to rush to see everything. The reptile house is a great starting place for the little ones as the enclosure are at the eye levels and they are self contained into the "reptile house" giving them the freedom to wander around and you know they can't make a break for it . The playground by the cafe is also excellent and features sand pits and a climbing numbats

Such a beautiful experience! Such stunning gardens throughout, great interactive areas for kids, lots of food vans and great lawn area for picnics. Animal enclosures are so much better than when I was a kid many years ago.

Been awhile since I went to the zoo. Nice place, friendly staff and volunteers. The facilities are well looked after. Love the open area where you can eat under the tree or on the bench. Heaps of shady places to have lunch. Hope they open few more food truck options, since most of the shops are close. It's nice to see different animals.

We are so lucky to have such a nice Zoo close to home. Been many times with the kids & always plenty of animals to look at & keep the kids entertained. Visited on Father’s Day & Dads gets free entry which is a nice touch. There was a new memorial section for “Tricia” the elephant that has just passed on recently which was sweet to remember her by. Currently there’s food trucks available as they are renovating the old cafe. Quite decent choices of trucks on rotation. Always a pleasure to visit the animals! Staffs are always pleasant & helpful to deal with 😊

Fantastic day out, I'd advise getting there early as the carpark fills up quite quickly. Father's day discount was a great offer. Despite the popularity the queue was so short we basically walked straight through. The Zoo was lively and felt great. The animals seemed happy and healthy, the Lion was super lazy, maybe time this with feeding time? The exotic birds were really good, great to see them in such big environments. Our favourites were definitely the Rhino, the tree kangaroo and the Orangutans, so full of character and spirit. Seems there are some new attractions on the way, the construction of this was well maintained. The food trucks were a pleasant surprise. I felt the place could of done with some additional toilets. All in all it was a great day out, would highly recommend.

Overall experience was ok. This was our second time in about eight that we went. There was a noticeable decline in the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire zoo. There were a number of mammals pacing which was unsettling to see. I don’t mind paying the entry fee as I realise this is to upkeep the zoo and take care of the animals. However, the extortionate prices charged for food is not worth it at all. You are better off packing a picnic. Toilets were clean and tidy. This is obviously a family day out location so be prepared for lots and lots of kids and prams.

Loved it, only downside was the cafe wasn't open so they had heaps of food trucks. Be sure to bring a picnic blanket with you and enjoy a day out with the kids. Kids are free if they're 3years old and under. So I took 2 of my kids whilst the others were at school. It was a cheap day out then. There's parking there and it's $6 for a full day. Just get in early for parking. We got there after 9:30am and the parking lot was practically full. Come 1:30pm when we were leaving the parking lot was basically half empty - went on a Wednesday during school hours.

It's pretty cool. Good selection of displays with a mostly serial setup (ie doesn't require too much doubling back). Experience really does remove you from the idea that you're in the city, though I found it difficult to see at the Orangutan enclosure due to the setup. Reptile enclosure was very good.

Perth Zoo has a feel I've come to love. Seeing the things that have stayed relatively the same for decades is quite nostalgic. The staff are super helpful and friendly. It was really awesome to experience the giraffe feeding. Great food and coffee vans around the picnic area. I'll be back again to book an experiences with other animal's. There aren't many Zoos in the world where you can get so up close to the animal's

Perth Zoo has fairly nice surrounds, but the enclosures feel a bit dated and old now. If you go on a hot day a lot of the animals are going to be hard to spot and not very active, so try to go on a cool day, or after recent rain. I feel the ticket price is very high, for what you get in the zoo, and whatever you do make sure you bring lots of water and your own food as the cost of water and food at the zoo is pretty exorbitant. Make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes as well.

This is a world class zoo! Better than Sydney or Melbourne zoo, and similar to Auckland Zoo but even more to see. Almost all of the animals seemed happy and content in their large well designed habitats, with the only distressed animal being one of the Sun Bears. Visited on a cool November day (high of 24C) and the weather was perfect, lots of trees and mostly shaded areas to walk. We took about 7 hours to see everything.

Perth Zoo is always a great place to visit and it is always evolving every visit you make. The extended hours are great for Summer esp. Saturday zoo is open till 7:30pm only until the end of Jan 2021. The Zoo was buzzing with people but Social distancing was still possible. SafeWA app scanning or manually writing down you contact details for contact tracing is mandatory. Inclusion of Food trucks makes the venue attract more people for a good picnic spot as well and the Smurf hunt was good for kids!!! Only finding parking on a weekend is slightly harder.. But Perth Zoo is always a pleasure day out for every one...

Perth Zoo, it's a lovely place that is in serious need of an overhaul. Some of the exhibits have not changed since I was a child (about 24 years ago). The animals are diverse, and some are close enough to let the kids or yourself have a good look. Plenty of space for the kids to run around in, and you can easily get your 10,000 daily steps done with a trip around the zoo. As Perth zoo is getting rid of the elephants once Trisha passes away, they need to look at getting gorillas or chimps or hippos... Or maybe upgrading and expanding the tiger exhibit, or the orangutans could do with a better enclosure with some actual trees. Maybe build some high rise walks for the public or the animals... Give us a different view point. Or they should buy land further out, set up a drive through safari park... Close the zoo's safari area, and expand on the jungle theme of the orangutans and tigers. Overall Perth zoo is interesting, exciting to see the animals, but could do better with what they have. Definitely worth a visit though.

What a great time out with the kids, this is an inexpensive and extremely entertaining day out with the family. We got our ticket through a work program so it was only 30$ for the whole day (kids were free) we hired a trolley when we got there highly reccomend this if you have a couple of young ankle bitters. Not all the animals were out on our excursion but the animals we did see were amazing. Looking forward to going back!

Living in the city, it's very easy to cross over with the ferry. I haven't been to the zoo for years, but the vibe is still the same. The last time I was here was when I was in my early twenties, and I'm in my mid-thirties now. It's still awesome, no matter how old you are. When we came in, Tricia had just passed away the day before, so that the elephant section was blocked off so the other elephants can mourn. It's clear that the staff here care a lot about the animals. They know what they're doing here. The zoo is designed so that you can meander around haphazardly. But it is very well structured, and have clear sections depending on the types of animals. It's hard to pick a favourite, because each corner of the zoo is unique. The only drawback I can think of is that the prices of food here is exorbitantly expensive (maybe I've been living overseas too long), so come with a full stomach.

Wow what a zoo. There is such an incredible range of wildlife and so much attention to detail throughout. Having been to some of Australia's best zoos this is right up there. The animals are very healthy and well looked after. I would leave most of the day to walk around as there is so much to see. The gift shop has a huge range of unique items and is probably the best I've seen at a zoo. Overall a must see while in Perth 10/10 thoroughly recommend

Lovely family day out. Annual membership is a good idea it takes only 3 visits to pay off and then you don't feel like you need to spend the whole day there, can come anytime for an hour or two. We ate twice now at French creperie / pizza stand - Great pizzas and such pleasant staff.

I have been to the zoo many times of the last few years and it is always been an enjoyable experience, my kids have grown up and I have watched the joy on their face as they get more and more out of it as they get older. A new exhibit or two wouldn't go astray or something interactive would also be cool :)

Pleasantly surprised how big this place was a stone's throw from Perth. Had all your animals you would expect, lions, rhinos, monkeys reptiles and even penguins. While we were there it was getting some new buildings. So in the near future it's going to get even better.

It's good that the big animals have room to move freely but I think more could be done in order to provide multiple viewing angles for guests. I went the other week and saw mostly rear ends of animals far away which was a little disappointing. Viewing platforms could be built in a camouflaged way so animals don't know people are there.

The good. The animals looked happy and well provisioned. The entry price wasn't too steep and my young child was free entry. The bad. The eating area is beautiful but in summer a couple of larger temporary shade structures on the grassy fields wouldn't go a stray. Had to fight for a spot of shade. The food from the vans was overpriced slops and I would highly recommend carrying in any food from home if you want a nice sit down meal. The ugly. Parking...there is paid parking not to far away from the zoo but nowhere near enough to service the amount of people heading in to the city AND the zoo. I drove around for 2 life times to find one at 9:45am My advice, pack a lunch and get into the area to secure parking at stupid o'clock to get a spot for the day.

One of the first things that strikes you upon entering Perth Zoo is its stunning setting. Lush gardens, vibrant flowers, and scenic views create a serene and inviting atmosphere. As you stroll through the well-maintained grounds, you can't help but feel a sense of tranquility and connection with nature. But it is the animal displays that truly set Perth Zoo apart. The enclosures are meticulously designed to mimic the natural habitats of the animals, allowing them to live comfortably and exhibit their natural behaviors. This attention to detail provides visitors with an immersive experience, where they can witness the wonders of the animal kingdom up close. From majestic lions to playful primates, each exhibit showcases the diversity and beauty of the animal world.

Always love coming to the Perth Zoo. It's different every time we visit and the animals are always a treat to see. The Zoo is well laid out with frequent chairs and toilets throughout. Multiple viewing points mean that if you miss your favorite animal from one spot you can try from another. My favorite part is always the Nocturnal House but you need at least two to three hours to thoroughly explore everything. We pre-booked our tickets and entry was fast and painless. Great experience all round.

Great for something to do with the kids. Not as big as Melbourne/Sydney zoo but has a nice feel. The rainforest retreat was nice an coming on a hot day. The elephants especially were loved by the kids. The grassy food truck area is good to relax for a bite to eat when finished.

Perth Zoo is an amazing animal sanctuary. The zoo staff is great and know their animals quirks and routine perfectly. Between the African Savannah and the penguins and everything else in between, there is plenty for families, friends and anyone really. So many things to see and do that 1 day is just not enough. And you can pack a picnic and have lunch on the grassy area or just go in as there are lots of food stalls for any taste

The older animals are well monitored by medical staff to ensure they are healthy & happy... The wooden Carousel is still in use & lovely to see children excited by a bygone ride... A joy to visit..

Great family outing. We were in awe of all the animals. My grandson loved drumming the 'jungle' drums. Loved the food trucks there. Being older (and less fit) it was great there was plenty of seating if you needed to rest awhile and just enjoy the magnificent trees, greenery and water gardens along the way. Checked out the zoo shop. So much variety of wonderful things priced well. There was no rush to see everything as the family have an annual pass so they can bring the children back anytime. Well worth them having the family pass, I got one for myself.

Attended the zoo to see animals and was impressed by the beautiful landscaping! Plenty of shade to ensure a comfortable visit even during a warm day, lots of food truck options, a great play space for kids. The enclosures are large and are well designed to provide habitats that replicate the natural environment for each animal. Negative reviews complaining "where are the animals!?!" must be posted by people with no patience who miss the point that animals sometimes need a break too! Taking a few minutes to stop and observe at each exhibit we saw nearly every species the zoo had to offer. An excellent zoo, would highly recommend to anyone with an appreciation of the environment.

Going to the zoo on a rainy day might not sound like fun, but it is an excellent thing to do. The crowds were minimal, the service at the food trucks was fast (no people = no queues) and we often had the run of the place, plus little people in gum boots got to jump into puddles galore. On this trip I experienced my first ever Tasmanian Tiger, and echidnas running around. Wonderful. Go to the zoo and keep going back. Even better, get membership so you can keep going and going.

Visited to take advantage of the last weekend of late opening for the Late Lights event they were running. Great atmosphere in the central grass area with the food trucks and the live music, and fantastic to see the lights as darkness fell. We went a little early (about 4pm) so we could catch some of the animals as well, but unfortunately it seems they're less active later in the day - that said it's up to the animals to keep their own schedules as they wish! The lights really were amazing to see though and there was a real buzz about the place, so it was well worth the visit. Because it was a weekend it was free parking on one of the side streets adjacent to the zoo, which is a bonus.

I think went in a weather where the animals preferred to hide away from the cold and the rain. 😅 There were a few habitats where we searched hard but couldn't find the animal. Nevertheless, we did still see some and captured photos of them. There were food trucks with a wide open space.

Great zoo, can be done within about 4 hours or so depending on how fast or slow you explore. Was with little ones so spent the whole day exploring and we went around twice and they were able to see more the second time around as was less crowded and animals were being fed and more active. I would suggest going later in the day to avoid some crowds and maybe catch some feeding, currently have some renovations being done for the 125 year anniversary, should be done by mid September 2023. Will be a fantastic upgrade of eating area and extensive kids playground. If you have little ones they also have a fun activity booklet just inside the entrance where they can find all the statues around the zoo, bring a pen or something if you want to cross it off though as it's not provided.

Had a fun afternoon at the zoo. Although, entry fees expensive making it inaccessible for many families. New cafeteria setting is lovely but the food is extremely overpriced. $7.50 for one barely warm sausage roll! However, the shady pathways and animals didn’t disappoint. Little penguins lazing about in their pool and a smiling frog made it worthwhile.

Zoo is nice, mostly native Australian animals which I like, had plenty of food options and pretty good size. Would recommend going on a weekday when it's not as busy as we went during school holidays and everyone and their dog decided to also visit the zoo at the same time. It was good tho would go again and go earlier in the day and listen to the zoo talks as most happen before noon

The flagship of zoo experience in Perth! Native, endemic and even exotic animals can be found here. Rescued, rehabilitated and bred animals to help dwindling populations in the wild. Book an uplclose encounter with friendly an animals. Bring or hire a trolley, plenty of water and snacks. They have open spaces for picnics, park benches and tables and even filtered water fountains. Young families will enjoy this and for the elderly please arrange for support because the place is massive..

Hot day so some of the sensible animals stayed "inside" and in the shade, but still very enjoyable. Also went on the Lion Tour inside the enclosure with the Keeper. Informative and we got fairly up close with the 2 lionesses whilst they were being fed. Didn't get all the way around the Zoo today but will come back to do some more another day.

Beautiful place, worth every penny, must visit, specially for your kids.. Your kids will love the animals and you will love the Beautiful lush green nature.. Rainforest walk is my favourite so peaceful and meditating... You will feel for the animals specially for the Elephant and some animals, but this is the best was to reach out to wildlife and specially in country like Australia they are well looked after.. I could not cover the whole area as we went very late and could not meet all the animals, spent too much time in the Rainforest walk....will upload more pics in next visit.

Fantastic opportunity to view Australian, African and Asian animals and birds, from small to large. Coffee machine at small food truck broke - don't go to the zoo to eat and drink, rather take your time and enjoy the incredible creatures and beautiful plants and gardens. Tip: Go early on hot summer days and view the outdoor animals first, then head for the nocturnal and other indoor exhibitions when it becomes hot.

  • 4/5 Alex C. 3 years ago on Google
Not too bad of a day out. But, pretty pricey considering a fair amount of enclosures were either closed for maintenance or the animals weren't even in them. Suggest taking a picnic and your own drinks, otherwise it can cost a fortune.

  • 5/5 Chevon S. 3 years ago on Google
Always a good Day at the zoo. There’s food trucks currently, instead of the restaurant, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem, it’s clean and tidy. My only qualm is the lions are always sleeping, but that’s not really the zoos fault, they’re nocturnal animals. Also, the ride on cars that toddlers really like to annoy their parents for are ride are placed so the kids always annoy you for a ride. Really though, that’s first world problems for you haha

It's my first visit in 30 years and I loved every minute of it. I was taken in by the walk through aviaries and reptile houses, the barramundi really impressed me. I fell in love with the bilbies but the stars of the day for me were the feather gliders. I won't be waiting thirty years to go again.

Best time to go is when it’s raining and only 150 people are permitted to enter! (Thanks COVID) Animals were loving the wet weather and so we’re we. Most of the time we were the only ones in an enclosure so got to take our time and embrace the experience. Bring your own food and drink as nothing really was open.

  • 3/5 Craig C. 3 years ago on Google
Are the penguins happier in this enclosure and I know the Orangutan enclosure is a marked improvement on what they had before but those man made steel trees still worry me.

  • 5/5 rachel C. 3 years ago on Google
A place you can visit for it's botanical or zoological exhibits. Watch the elephants help their keepers do tasks, partake in some painting or as they take a walk through the zoo. Meerkats look out for the metal birds, run and forage. Some kangaroos and wallabies seem to enjoy a scratch and pat. The old carousel is still running after many generations of use. Picnic grounds, undercover and shaded areas and seating around the zoo make great places to have a picnic. Every animal is worth viewing. Allow at least 4 hours for a comfortable walk around and view of exhibits but if you don't mind sprinting it can be done in about an hour! A family favourite and always on the top of my list when showing visitors to Perth around. Zoo friends is an annual pass to the zoo which pays itself off after a few visits and gives you great discounts at the terrific gift shop.

For what Perth is worth, the zoo has come a longgggg way and is definitely worth seeing at least once. As a massive fan of primates, I am quite sad I didn’t get to see the Orang-Utans again on this visit but I cannot blame the zoo for that, they need their sleepy time, I did at least get to watch a Gibbon do big poopoo onto the ground from the roof of its enclosure. It’s got animals, nice enclosures and they’re treated excellently, do your research on when the animals will be awake and you’ll have a great time.

Went to our famous zoo today and sooo disappointed. Enclosures closed for maintenance, many others empty. Many enclosures also were too small or badly looked after. Didn't see one lion, 1 only koala, 1 sleeping dingo on a rock, 2 only orangutans and the viewing platforms are too far, obstructed or too hard to catch a glimpse. Overly priced as well. I went to Caversham Wildlife Park, it is cheaper, more animals, great viewing points and you can pat so many animals.

Ovember 2021 after record October rains, everythig should be lush and green. Disappointed in neglected grounds since I visited 30 years ago. I saw lots of signage and pictures of animals, and very few actual animals. I walked the whole zoo with exception of the geraff area, we couldn't find that. We came hoping to see the baby geraff.

We got married at the zoo on the 9th October in the Japanese Gardens! And absolutely beautiful picturesque section suitable for intimate ceremonies. All the coordinators were absolutely fabulous in ensuring everything ran smoothly from rehearsal to the day. The ceremony was set up perfectly they put signs up for us and afterwprds took us around the zoo to get the perfect photos. I cannot thank the team enough for all they did to make our day so magical. Highly recommend booking a wedding here!

Absolutely loved visiting the zoo after so long. We attended the zoo up late so had plenty of time to see all the animals, even the ones that were less active during the heat of the day. Highlights were seeing Tricia and Permai the Asian elephants, the numbats in the Australian bushwalk and the bilbys and quolls in the nocturnal house.

Great experience. Haven't been since I came last time I was in Australia. The tacos were the most authentic tacos I've had in Perth.

Great place to kids and family, lots of shades, great for picnic. Put light clothes and carry light, coz of walking if you have kids and keep hydrated especially summer time.

What a great place to visit with family and kids. After a while we had this great experience. It has kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, wombats and many other animals. The zoo even have a Elephant show and you can feed giraffes too. Amazing experience!

I'd forgotten how good Perth zoo is! We had such a beautiful time wandering the gardens, which are a surprisingly cool escape from a hot day. We really enjoyed the crocodile and rhino keeper talks and found that it's really nice to stay a bit later (approx. 4pm) as the animals are being fed and put away for the evening.

Had a wide variety of animals. My son really liked it. Had to wait quite a bit to enter the zoo due to covid restrictions (of 500 pax), so recommend to go to the zoo earlier instead of later if you can. Only thing the zoo needs is more food option for the guests instead of a few food trucks operating on day of my visit. Recommend to bring some food (yoghurt/grapes) so your little ones don't get hungry.

Such a great place to visit with kids and family. The zoo is one of the best places, the zoo is home to Sumatran elephant, African wild dog, sun bears, tree kangaroos, and many other animals. Amazing place! Must visit when in Perth!

A fun place for both adults and children. That's the Perth Zoo. There is no difference between a living turtle and a model turtle. It was very exciting. Elephants are always cute, giraffes are my kids' favorite, and rhinos are the most amazing and interesting animals I see. I like that there are many places to have lunch, and there are many toilets. The child was tired and fell down.

Worth visit in Perth. It opens 9-5pm, 7 days a week. $34 adult entrance fee is reasonable with lots to enjoy and explore. The parking is pretty limited. We arrive at 9:10am and the parking is nearly full.

Fantastic venue, although some parts are undergoing some works, we had a fantastic day celebrating our sons 1st Birthday. Enclosures seemed well kept and loved all the informative signs around and of course, the animals! Easily accessible with a pram and plenty of room to move about. We felt like we were on holiday in the rainforest walk, such a beautiful experience. Only suggestion is that they have some covered/dry areas for patrons to sit and eat lunch, or relax, when the weather has been wet or if the weather becomes rainy. We were prepared with a rug, boots, wet weather jackets and wet wipes...some families weren't and wete walking away with wet bottoms and very muddy children for the remainder of the day.

I visited during the Spring school holidays when the Night Lights were on and open until 8pm, animals until 6pm and it was a lovely atmosphere with live music and food vans on the green. Perth zoo is clean and spacious with lots of shade and seating around. Refillable water stations and plenty of toilets throughout. It's just a really great zoo with the most beautiful animals.

Nice day out for the kids, if going in summer time best to go early! Lots of walking also good idea to take your own beach trolley if you don't want to hire one there makes it much easier to get around and cheaper packing own food and drinks, there is quiet a bit of shade from all the trees on your walk around the zoo but still can be a warm day lots of water and sunscreen!

It feels slightly overpriced but they do a lot of conservation work so it's money well spent. Nice layout, achievable to view everything in about 4 hours. Large central green area suitable for picnicsz also decent selection of food trucks. Large cafe/restaurant being built. They have some excellent close encounters experiences available. I recommend the giraffe experience where you can feed them from a high platform. This isn't a particularly large zoo (if you've visited many around the globe) but it's laid out well and accessible from the city.

I love the Zoo I take my son at least once a year, he loves the crocodile and snakes, (not my cup of tea, the snakes that is). Family oriented and friendly staff and the animals are lovely, especially the penguins. Great place well done all involved at the PZ.

Absolutely loved visiting Perth Zoo - it was my first time. All the enclosures were amazing for the animals, very engaging and the animals seemed happy. We spent a comfortable 3 hours to walk around the zoo. My ‘must-see’ are the Fairy Penguins ✨

  • 4/5 Jesse R. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely amazing zoo, however the selection of animals has decreased from my last visit. I find that whilst ticket prices are justifiable, they do seem a bit pricey. Highly recommend buying tickets in advance, saves a lot of time in line.

We love coming to Perth Zoo, there's plenty to see and with our membership it's easy to come for a short visit and see some of our favourites or catch a Talk & Feed. Five stars for the exhibits, friendly staff and volunteers, and overall lovely atmosphere. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ However, zero stars for the birds that gather near the food trucks! 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 The food trucks have delicious options if you stay for lunch, but beware that the seagull and crow population have become quite a nasty gang of thieves! They are noisy, have no boundaries, and will steal food straight from your hand, table, and anywhere else they can reach. I've seen them even knock food containers out of people's hands and then gather the food from the ground. So protect your food from the moment you pick it up from the truck or you may be ambushed! I sincerely hope they can do something about it.. Maybe they could bring out some eagles or hawks during the day to scare off these pests?? 🦅🦅🦅

Staff are incredible and the keepers have such passion for that which they do every day. Book a couple of times to go to see the animals that sometimes hide...and spend the money to do an animal experience. So worth it.

We spent the entire day at the zoo seeing and doing heaps! We attended the Girraffe encounter and enjoyed having a smaller group of 5 people. There were plenty of branches for us to feed the giraffes, and the informative volunteers were very friendly. We used the helpful feeding guide, which was on the website, and led us to experience the orangutan, penguin, and meerkat talks. We BYO'd a picnic lunch and purchased some hot chips from one of the many temporary food vans. Overall, I would definitely recommend spending a whole day here and coming planned.

A really helpful volunteer, Joy, took me for a guided tour. It was amazing to hear the behind the scenes work that the zoo is carrying out. Thanks also to Leonne and Jo and Memohis the Rhino

Was really good to see the elephants before they left. We go a couple of times every year & love it usually. But with the park & cafe being built, it's closed off a bit. I'm quite disappointed that they're putting so much money towards a park & not putting it towards the enclosures, etc.

We ordered our tickets in advance but it didn't really get us in any faster. We went on a week day thinking it wasn't going to be as busy but it was we loved it regardless.

Great zoo to go to! I had a membership back in 2008, but just recently when I was visiting my mom and brother, I got a membership which was awesome and it was so nostalgic since I moved to Sydney. I loved the African Savanna and I got to see Jelani, Uzuri and Makeba the lions, despite them not used to Jelani, coz he’s a newbie. The one thing that pissed me off is when those little kids banged on the Lion enclosure and they didn’t even listen at all and I had to tell the zookeeper about this and they had sorted it out, which was good, coz wild animals need to be respected, coz they’re endangered and went to the zoo five times, when I had a 10 day visit and that really made my trip da best! So thanks so much Perth Zoo! So sad I’m gonna miss u, but it’s worth it and I’ll come back again, if I visit Perth again

It's definitely an all day thing to plan for you and the kids and I will say it's a good idea to pack a picnic lunch for you and the family as it's a bit pricey for food... I do understand the price for entry to be a bit high but that is to go towards the animals.. I was happy to pay entry fee but was very surprised and shocked on price for food and it wasn't like it was fancy food either... for example chips pies and sandwiches and other things but it was the price of the basic food that got me... apart from that the kids and the family enjoyed them and by the end of the day we were exhausted we didn't even finish the whole park to see all animals

Awesome adventure! If going with a little human would highly recommend hiring a trolley!! $15 v well spent. Good and drinks super expensive but that's expected. Paths are shady so easy to stay out of the sun! From 4pm there was love music + night lights which we loved!!!

  • 5/5 Michael G. 6 months ago on Google
Absolutly loved it. Great job to the team at Perth Zoo. You can tell the hard work and dedication they have towards the park due to the on point landscaping throughout.

Nice zoo and nice wild lights , was not to crowded . And the new playground and restraunt was open . Sadly the tiger display was not so great as the windows where displayed with a lot of foiled and you can’t really see anything . The staff was very friendly and told a lot of great information about the animals

Perth Zoo is a great attraction in Perth. It's possible to explore it relatively quickly if you're short on time, but don't mistake its efficiency for smallness. The zoo boasts a wide variety of animals and features. The Bolivian Monkeys are especially adorable. It's also a fantastic place for picnics, with the added convenience of free barbecue facilities for visitors to use.

My daughters and I have been twice now. There are so many animals to see and you quite often get an excellent view of them. It will be a regular destination for us.

Went to Perth with our daughter and grandchild. The animals look well cared for and it was an enjoyable day out. Grandson enjoyed the statues and surrounds as much as looking at the animals.

We love our trips to the zoo, first time we’ve seen the new cafes and playground. The new cafe food is quite expensive, miss the food trucks they had. Playground is nice but definitely suited to older kids rather then toddlers.

Lots of animals to see. Beautiful zoo🙂make sure you wear some comfy shoes and bottles of water though they do have refill stations and few vending machines around for more drinks icecreams and snacks. Also a cafe there. Give yourself around 3 hours to do the whole zoo comfortably. Probs more for those with little kids. Had a fun time ☺️

Such an amazing zoo, with great staff and people everywhere to point you where to go or twll you facts. . Great entry prices and easy to find your way around. Food was also great pricing- however it was hard to find anything Gluten Free. We fed the giraffes which was $15, well worth the cost!!! The highlight was the Tassie Devils. We caught the ferry accross from the quay, I think it was approx $2.80.

Fun day at the zoo! Need to spend at least 4 hours here. So much to look at! Went to Habitat To get coffee. Taste brilliant although extra shot cost a dollar more.

It was a great family day out. Alot of the animals were hiding. Was looking forward to take my grand daughter on the caramels as she is the only one I haven't done it with but it was not working.

Lovely zoo with lots of different animals to see. We were mainly there for the Australian bushwalk section and left out the Africa section completely. Very informative and staff was super helpful.

Great for a fun day out with the family. There are a large variety of animals to see and they all look well kept. The new cafe is nice with a decent amount of seating. The toilet blocks throughout the park need serious updating though and more parent rooms need to be built. It was a bit of a struggle to find a good place to feed my 4 month old. Overall though I would highly recommend Perth Zoo and appreciate what they are doing to preserve the wildlife!

This is one of the best zoos I have been to in Australia. It is very well laid out and the tours and talks are very interactive and informative. The habitats the animals are in are well kept. Located in the heart of the city, a short 8 min ferry ride from Elizabeth Quay followed by 10 min walk. Highly recommend for a day out with family or solo if you are an animal enthusiast.
