One of the best volunteer run historical museums I have ever visited (and I’ve been to a few). So many periods covered and so many artefacts from these. Room after room brings back many distant memories. I loved the old classroom and early readers. NB: No indigenous/first peoples history or their treatment is included.

An extensive local history museum with knowledgable volunteers. It was easy to loose a few hours here as you make your way through the various themed rooms and out buildings.

So interesting. An incredible range of indoor and outdoor displays. Its not just about butter! Its about history with a huge collection of memorabilia. Displays of farm equipment, buggies, household items, a telephone exchange, settler's house and so on. Interesting to learn about the group settlements scheme which brought settlers to Busselton.

This place is amazing. It is definitely one of the better museums I have seen outside a major city. There is even a large outdoor area with a blacksmith, settler's one room school, settler's house, horse drawn vehicles etc etc. I even found a washing machine like my Mum used in the 1950s. I definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely volunteers. We were travelling with our 🐕 dogs. The ladies let us put them out in the back garden while we went through to have a look. Shady and a great spot for lunch (but you have to bring your own). Will definitely go back next time passing through, so much to look at.

I love community museums, with their eclectic collections and everything on display ethos. The central story here is around the dairy industry as it is in an old butter factory. But there is plenty of other material. A gorgeous location on the banks of the river would be lovely to bring a picnic with you. There were limited stories with objects, which would have made a difference. I also couldn’t find much about the local aboriginal communities and their relationships to the industry and events displayed. This would have also been a great addition. I visited with a 6, 10 and 14 year old who all found interesting elements to look at. It really is an interesting way to spend a few hours. And you don’t have to exit through the gift-shop.

Bring enough time to see the many different tools and artefacts from the past. Indoor and outdoor areas and lovely pavilion at the water's edge. Wonderful to learn about the history of the area.

As a pair of 1960's Aussie kids, this was like a walk back through time. So many items brought back memories. Wonderfully presented, with many items also just there to be examined rather than behind glass and guide ropes. Walking into a room full of saddles and old suitcases, the aroma of 50 year-old leather was amazing! The $10 entry fee is well worth several hours of discoveries.

Apparently they had a serious fire through this museum (or part of it) a few years ago and it's a tribute to the hard-working volunteers that you'd never know if they didn't tell you. Stacks of interesting exhibits and a good historical overview of Busselton and the surrounding area. Well worth a visit!

We spent a long while exploring the museum and were happily suprised to see parts of the fire integrated as part of the exhibits, very educational and the staff were very kind.

We found this wonderful and very well put together. The keepers obviously look after it well and everything is well displayed. A great look at yesteryear. It's a big place so expect to be there for a while with some extra buildings. Cheers, Bige
