By far the worst hibachi I’ve ever had. I had chicken & shrimp and all I could taste was oil and soy sauce. My husband said the same thing about his steak. The fried rice was mush. I’ve never been to a hibachi place where I couldn’t even choke down the food. I would definitely not recommend this place unless oil & soy sauce is your thing.

Our hibachi chef Nate was very good and entertaining. He had a good sense of humor. Make sure to cover your drink as they will toss shrimp tails in the air and don't leave the table or else they might sneakily throw a shrimp tails in there! I had the rib eye and shrimp while my husband had scallops and fillet mignon. We both enjoyed our meals immensely, but my favorite was the rib eye. There was alot of food served, many people at the table had to get take out boxes. I enjoyed the experience alot and would definitely return.

Great food, very good service and presentation. The building and the setup are very similar to Katsu-Ya. Over all experience is very similar.

Since enjoying numerous positive dining experiences at the downtown Katsu-ya branch, I decided to try out this branch. I visited here a few times to test consistency of the food and I have to say the quality holds up. For the Fox Valley area, I think this is the only restaurant where I've nigiri, sashimi, and maki whose quality were on par with the ones I've had when I've been in Tokyo and downtown Los Angeles. The ingredients are fresh which greatly enhance the tasting experience. It was also to my delight that they had uni and that it was also fresh. The various times I've been there, I've had the omakase or on the menu "nigiri and sashimi Chef Special". I respect the thought the chefs put into selecting which fish would be best and the arrangements they have to make it as visually appealing as possible. To compliment the prime taste of the fish, their tea and their selection of sake pair well with the meal. I greatly thank the serving staff as they were knowledgeable in what pairings to offer along with explaining which fish the Chef served me. I think this is most well-managed sushi restaurant along with the Katsu-ya branch to grace the Fox Valley area. I never doubt the quality and this is a wonderful place for me to introduce my friends to the wonderful flavorful world of sushi.

Always a great time coming here. Big fan of Japanese culture so always excited just to see the interior design. I got sashimi and nigirl with a cherry blossom sake. That sake was probably the best I've ever had. Very smooth and tasty

Great restaurant with a great nighttime vibe. The chef was fantastic and he prepared a wonderful meal. I was with friends and had the dinner for 2, which was more than enough food. Also, for beer I highly recommend the hazelnut stout. I'll be back!

This restaurant was excellent. The best hibachi place I have been too and the sushi was also amazing. We ordered the red dragon sushi (salmon) and the California roll. If you enjoy sushi you have to try the red dragon. It was delicious. For the hibachi, they serve a broth/mushroom soup, salad, and white rice. I ordered the steak and it was done perfectly. You also get an assortment of vegetables, some shrimp, and bean sprouts along with the meal. The oolong tea was good and at the sherbet at the end really finished off the meal perfectly. You do not have to worry about leaving this place hungry. Our chef Shawn was very kind and put on an amusing show. We didn’t have to wait long for the food despite the place being quite busy. The restaurant is a bit expensive but reasonably priced considering how much you are getting. I will definitely be coming back.

We love Nakashimas.. never had a problem before. But this time.. we paid over $100 and got little portions. We did hibachi and the chef did not portion out the meals evenly.. we were at the end of the table and the chef started with HUGE portions at first at the opposite side of the table and by the time he got to us.. he ran out. We got way less meat, veggies, rice, everything. It was not fair, especially for the price we paid. You could tell the chef was young and new.. very disappointed. Wish we got refunded for some because we barely got enough dinner. The people across from us had beyond enough portions to even take home. Our plates weren’t even full. Very sad.

The decor is outstanding. It's a very beautiful restaurant. The meat was cooked perfectly in every case. It'd be nice if their veggies had more than just onions and zucchini and if they used some teriyaki instead of just soy sauce. Other than that, great!

It's been years, but I miss the days when your dining experience felt more leisurely. You'd finish your soup or salad before the other came out. The food is typically delicious, but our salads this time around were barely anything. The lettuce just covered the bottom of the bowls. Wonderful staff and amazing plum wine. The wait on a weekend is always long, but it's fine if you can find a seat in the bar.

Everything was awesome. The kimchi was really good. Definitely recommend trying kimchi if you have never tried it. Also recommend salmon tartare. Definitely will be back.

The food and the atmosphere were great. They were very busy, but they got us in quickly. we didn't have too long of a weight. It was like dinner and a show. The chef prepares your food in front of you and entertains you with conversation and tricks. Dinner for 2 will run you about $100.

This place is always packed but well worth the wait! Excellent food prepared at the table. Loved the onion volcano! Staff is wonderful and goes above and beyond. I would suggest the dinner for two. Soup, salad, main course, and desert included! Great portion at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back.

A truly unique experience. They give lots of food so they make sure you won't go home hungry and maybe even with some left overs. The Hello Kitty is a must have drink, fruity and yummy. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and the chefs she very professional and definitely know what they're doing.

I was very disappointed coming here again after a few years. It used to be amazing and they never had a problem that I couldn't deal with raw fish. It's not even the flavor just the texture. Anyways, I asked if they could make me a sushi roll but have the fish inside cooked instead of raw and they told me it was fine and upcharged for extra work. Which didn't bother me at all. But then when I got my food it was completely raw and I had already left to go back to work so I couldn't go back to fix it. I tried eating it and I might have been able to with soy sauce, but they only gave me a super tiny amount even though I asked for extra. The customer service was nice, I just was very disappointed in the food, considering in the past when I came here they didn't mind what I asked for and it always tasted amazing. And they understood that you need more than half a drop of soy sauce for 2 rolls of sushi.

The menu here is absolutely delicious! Our server Autumn was a delightful host, very knowledgeable, and managed the entire sushi room flawlessly. Autumn is a true asset to the Nakashima crew.
