We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeously restored gem! We stayed in the beautiful and comfortable Starlight Cabin. It was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Our balcony overlooked the community garden and from the huge windows we could see all of Midtown and all the way downtown to the Ren Cen. The neighborhood is beautiful and there are so many restaurants and bars nearby, most of which have patios/outdoor areas which is so important during Covid. I felt very safe staying here. The room was spotless and private. I would highly recommend staying here! It is the perfect place if visiting Detroit or for a staycation.

I really need everyone to know that this is one of the best places I have ever stayed!!! I have traveled across the US and Europe and stayed in AirBNBs and Hotels but never a traditional BnB or lodge. We have stayed in various hotels in Detroit and always been underwhelmed for the price we paid. This was such a lovely experience. The staff were both incredibly kind and offered great suggestions. I am so looking forward to staying here again. I've already sent this to everyone I know who visits Detroit. The breakfast! The tea selection! The bed! The CLEANEST bathroom I've ever seen in my entire life. We stayed in the Kasem room. The location is safe and features robust options for dining and drinks. Close to Majestic Theatre. Thank you so much, El Moore staff. We will be back.

This hotel is a real gem. Beautifully restored building in a great location. We stayed in one of the spacious rooftop cabins and it was wonderful with terrific balcony views. Very friendly and helpful staff. The secure parking was a real plus. We will stay there again.

Incredible experience staying at the El Moore Lodge! Maia was there to check us in and was super helpful getting us all set up. The parking and entryway was secure was accessible, and loved that there was coffee and breakfast each morning. The room itself was minimalist but comfortable and the kitchenette was everything we needed. I liked that sustainability is intentional- no leaving the lights on, or excess plastic anyway. The views were outstanding. We live in Detroit so it was a great treat to see the city from that perspective. Will definitely recommend and will hopefully have the chance to stay there again!

From arrival to departure we were impressed constantly. We stayed in the moonbeam suite and the view was stunning. We were going to stay elsewhere, but a colleague insisted we try the El Moore and I'm so very glad that we did! This place will be on our future destination list for sure! If I could, I'd give it 6-stars!!

We were in Detroit for a wedding at the Garden Theater and was very convenient location. Stayed in the starlight cabin. Needed a room with a pullout since wanted to have an option for additional family to stay if they didn't want to drive back. Love the sustainable renovation of the building. Felt safe, secure and welcoming. Just one issue was the room was too warm and the heat wouldn't lower.

Lovely experience overall. Exactly as pictured, our room was exceptionally clean and well stocked with numerous cute welcome snacks/tea/coffee. All-stone shower was a highlight. We stayed in the room with bunk beds and an in-suite bathroom, the space was perfect for two and felt spacious with the separate dining table under the bay windows! Each staff member we met was friendly and excited to share restaurant recommendations and advice about Detroit, and helped make our experience five-star!

This place really exceeded our expectations! We staying in one of the Parkview rooms and it was clean and spacious. The aesthetic of the hotel was really pleasing, with well-kept grounds and a private, gated parking area. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and gave personal service. The breakfast in the morning was delicious - homemade mushroom quiche, good coffee, and toast with delicious jam. This really has more of a bed and breakfast feel than a hotel, and very reasonably priced, with a wide variety of rooms to choose from. In walking distance of many restaurants and venues in the area. We will be back!

Stayed at the El Moore Lodge for New Years Eve 2021 and this hotel is very nice. The secure parking was definitely a plus as well as how to access everything upon arrival. I stayed in the Moonbeam Cabin and it was exactly like the pictures online. For anyone who stays here in the future they do offer Netflix and Youtube TV. The views are spectacular and I would definitely stay here again. The only downside I would say is not being able to access other streaming apps such as Hulu when doing so it asked for a pin, also no phone to be able to call downstairs if needed.

Clean, beautiful units, pleasant garden area and common area similar to an English Bed & Breakfast. Safe & easy to access parking lot that’s secured. Cafe next door for any quick bites or coffee/tea, and community gardens next to cafe. Kind staff. Also there are random events like Jurassic Park movie night in Greenhouse with free snacks and drinks - very cute!

Excellent, fun place in a really cool neighborhood with lots of restaurants, markets and such close by. Close to transit, not far from downtown. Breakfasts were excellent. I stayed in the Hawthorne room, which was small and a bit spartan but just what I needed (one person) and the bathroom was great.

The El Moore is my favorite place to book in Detroit, and I have stayed in every room over the years. Even the $90 bunk room in the basement is comfortable. Reasonable rates. Conveniently located in safe midtown neighborhood and a short walk to the Woodward Ave Q-line for access to downtown entertainment and sports venues. Free secure parking. Rooms are squeaky clean and modern with emphasis on sustainability. Delicious continental breakfast and 24 hour coffee and tea in the parlor. Mingling with other guests and full time building residents is always rewarding. Harriet at check-in and Michel at breakfast and check-out are always welcoming, friendly, and love Detroit so are full of suggestions for dining and activities.

I had to contact the staff about some special accommodations. I did not end up booking here, but the staff was very prompt in answering my question and would have been able to handle my request had I booked. I would definitely book with them if traveling solo or as a couple.

The rooms and views were beautiful. Extremely nice and helpful staff. The only issue we encountered was slow internet service. We will definitely stay again.

In 2019 while watching Fox 2 News, they ran a story on this hotel and I immediately put it in my phone notes. Covid happened, the world stopped and I never had a chance to book a room. Well as soon as it was safe again to venture out into the world, the El Moore was my 1st stop, and it was well worth the wait! From the service, to the rooms; it was a perfect staycation and welcome back, to “normal” gift to us. We booked the Starlight cabin and it was breathtaking. The room, the view, the grounds, the service; everything was top notch. OH! Let me not forget the bed; this bed slept like a cloud. We wished we’d booked another night just to lay in the bed! LOL The only bad thing and I wouldn’t call it bad is, they don’t have an ice machine, but they do have an ice bucket, so you can always grab your own from the local store; we went to CVS! 😃 We were walking distance to the world famous Italian restaurant, Mario’s. There are tons of bars and restaurants to choose from, rather dining in or carrying out. If you’re looking for something unique, beautiful, romantic as well as economically feasible, look no further! The El Moore leaves you wanting more and more! We will definitely be back.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a few nights while we were visiting Detroit for a friends wedding. This was one of my favorite stays of all time. Such a stunning space, prime location, and wonderful people. I cannot wait to be back!

Third time staying there. Had a small business group and the Rooftop cabin rooms is perfect for enjoying the view and a drink together. All guests in my group were thoroughly impressed. From the pre-stay communications to the questions about the area and dining options, Harriet was a rock star. Don't miss Seasons Market for snacks, prepared meals and drinks...

Sorry for the late posting. I stayed here Oct 2021 for two nights in the small room with bunk beds. The room was actually decent and had the perfect setup for a short quick stay. My only concern was the cleaning of the bed frames. I always check what I'm sleeping on. Underneath the mattress were tons of dead crickets and smalll bugs. Thankfully none of them were bedbugs and there were no blood stains. My room was on the bottom floor so I can Understand the presence of crickets but what's not okay is that they were clearly dead and had been there for a while. It looks as if the room was reset sheets and mattress covers were changed and they just ignored the bugs. I don't have pictures sadly since I'm just remembering I didnt leav my review last year. If you check this place out make sure to check the bed frame and have them clean it. I didn't want to stress my partner out so I didnt mention it to them until we left. Also the price is at a good point.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Detroit at El Moore. All of the staff was great. Maie checked us in and had great suggestions for places to eat. Quiche on the breakfast buffet on Saturday morning was very good.

Even better than expected! Stayed in the Moonbeam Cabin for two nights. Beautiful view, warm and cozy aesthetic, a welcoming front desk, next door to a coffee shop/market, walking distance to lots of great food and shops. 10/10 would recommend.

Has cute looking cabins, but none of them are wheelchair accessible. I don't understand how people are allowed to build inaccessible hotels/hostels. This place is a brand new renovation and pretends to be ethical

A classic hotel and lodging filled with both a sense of luxury and the kindness of friendly faces that make you look forward to your return. Not only is the building itself a site to see, but the surrounding gardens and neighborhood provided a great source entertainment, dining, and shopping. This is truly some of the best Detroit has to offer and you should see it.

My husband and I stayed here in December and even in the cold, the outdoor view and rooftop patio were amazing! My only gripe was our cabin not having a microwave. Unless I missed it, that was a huge inconvenience when trying to heat up snacks!

First thing I have to say is the beds are amazing, best sleep I have had in a long time. The customer service was top notch everywhere in the building.

My fiancé and I have stayed here three times so far and will always continue to come back! The building itself is historic and beautiful and the secure parking is a major plus! The rooms are always clean and comfortable for our stay. The staff is also very friendly! We had an instance where we needed to move our reservation to a later date due to circumstances that were out of our control, and the staff were lovely in helping accommodate us! (I wish I could remember who it was that helped us, but thank you!!) The location is another thing we love! Within walking distance are a ton of unique restaurants! Overall, we love staying here and greatly prefer it over major hospitality chains. We always recommend it to all of our friends and family if they ever need a place to stay in Detroit!
