My partner brought me here for a special lunch. The full tasting menu and wine pairing was absolutely divine. The perfect amount of food; we didn’t leave too full or hungry. We each had different dish favourites though they were all divine in different ways! The cocktails we had whilst eating the initial snacks (Negroni and espresso martini) were incredible. Fantastic service too.

Absolutely outstanding. I knew of this restaurant years ago under the previous owners when I couldn't belie how good the food was for the price. The new owners have taken this to the next level though. The menu was delightful, the cooking sublime and the service excellent. Particular highlights were all of the amuse bouche, which were fantastic and the wine pairing with information from the sommelier for each glass. The decore is minimalist but comfortable and the atmosphere incredibly intimate. It can't be long until this place earns it's first michelin star. Having been to midsummer house just across the river a number of times, there's really very little separating the two

The most incredible meal I have ever had! SERIOUSLY! I don't even know where to start to describe it. From the first bite to the last each and every dish was bursting with harmonious flavour. I ate ingredients that I would normally despise and even heard a grown man from another table ask for alterations because he 'didn't like' certain ingredients.. he truly missed out! The service is 5 star, all staff were amazing and super helpful. Whatever the occasion, book the dam table and eat here because there is no way you will regret it.

Absolutely amazing. £90 tasting menu plus wine is clearly not a cheap night out but if you love your food worth every penny. Staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Showcase of the best of locally sourced food. Worst aspect is actually getting a reservation due to the intimate venue size! Will be going again

This was our first tasting menu experience. The setting itself, the restaurant looks nicer from outside than inside, the tables for 2 are too small, once they put your drinks printed menus, food etc it's awfully crowded. The food itself was good... I can't say I had one course that was mind blowing and there were a couple which were sub par. Based on just this I probably would have given it a 4 out of 5 stars however the main reason we felt it was a bad experience is it is just far too overpriced. The experience doesn't match the price tag, what also was a big shock was we had one regular tasting menu (£75) and one vegetarian one which cost £95! £20 extra which substituted fish and muscles for half a carrot (not exaggerating) and lamb 3 ways for I think celeriac or fennel but again much smaller portions. Weirdly the dessert was a fairly big fish in comparison but we did leave hungry which surprised me. It could be that tasting menus aren't for us but I don't think that's the issue, the dishes just weren't either enough, not the wow factor or the meat/main ingredient just wasn't that good. Sadly for the price of a lunch tasting menu I'd probably recommend, paying for a train to London and finding a better experience for the same price travel included. Apart from the lingering waiting staff everyone was very polite and service was delivered well. I just think the price of £75 is probably just a little high and £95 is just taking the p****!

What a gem! We had an absolutely outstanding tasting menu experience, with not a single item disappointing in the slightest. The food is meticulously presented, tastes are composed to perfection, and you get to savour a variety of dishes which come together to form a coherent, satisfying whole meal. I love the concept of a pre-dessert too :-) Completely on par with some Michelin 🌟🌟 places we visited before. Plan ahead about 3 months to eat here, but it is soooo worth booking ahead!

Solid 5-star. Totally enjoyed the lunch menu and looking forward to bringing my family and friends here! This is going to be no. 1 place for treating important guests (Might sneak back on my own for some a weekday treat too <3) Literally everything is fantastic. Thoughtful but not ostentatious creations with local produces. Parmesan snack with roasted pumpkin seeds. Warm, gooey, cheesy. A beautiful starting point. The green asparagus custard with ham and aerated white asparagus foam really encapsulates the spring. Herbal and full of umami, it has a light texture like Asian steamed egg. Bread arrives as a laminated brioche, which looks like a denser croissant. A little guilty, but delicious. Beautifully layered and buttery. The butter is milky, but the chicken liver pate is the absolute queen on the bread. Smooth, creamy, flavorful but not too heavy even on top of that flaky bun. Cured and seared cod, covered lemon dill and in mustard hollandaise. I was worried it could be too overpowering, but it is alright. Still extra for me and reminds me of my college kitchen. Crispy kale is lovely and the radish is refreshing. The cod itself is plump and tender. 8/10 Prime cut of beef in slow cooked in water bath. The beautiful pink piece is deliciously seasoned and tender. The bottom piece tastes like red braised and contains a melting chunk of tendon. Morel mushrooms are pickled and slightly sour, zingy. The Great Abington asparagus is gigantic in size but delicate in taste. Red wine and garlic sauce has capers, ham, and mustard in it and offers complex flavors. Also enjoyed the celeriac purée which goes well with the steak. The plating is so elegant and not pretentious at all. 10/10 Absolutely love the dessert. The best finishing course among my recent years’ dining experiences (excluding my tiramisu hunts)! Again a fine balance between taste and creativity. Frangipane sponge, crumbly and light. Chocolate mousse. Naturally sweet Banana jam. Hazelnut mousse. A small scoop of salted milk ice cream, delightfully savory and cooling. Shortbread and mushroom crumbs. Banana stick. Not trying to be extravagant but everything combines harmoniously to present extraordinary finale. ❤️ And thankfully it’s not too sweet at all— surprisingly, the dark chocolate dome and the ripe banana core may be the sweetest part. Heard it’s new to the menu. Please keep it 🥹 100/10 The little space is cozy and has the charm of sitting in a loving family home. The second floor is intimate with lovely drawings. Service is super warm, attentive but not intrusive. And the courses come one after another in an efficient pace. Eat slower and enjoy ;) Congratulations to the chef and team on the well-deserved Michelin star.

My wife took me to here as a surprise to enjoy the short tasting menu with paired drinks, and indeed, what an amazing surprise it was! Understated and demure, we went without expectation and were really moved by the whole experience. The personable nature of the staff who all had their individual personalities added to the experience. The food was an amazing treat and gives Cambridgeshire's best an amazing challenge. The descriptions, flavours and presentations are something else. Thank you to the team for making this pre-Christmas experience so special. Attention to detail, great service, unforgettable flavours and textures...Restaurant Twenty Two is a must for genuine fine dining in Cambridgeshire.

This place is amazing! This was a birthday treat from my son and his wife, who have also visited this restaurant and they knew we'd like it. From first stepping through the door to leaving, the experience was perfection. We had been booked in for the lunchtime taster menu, quite a few courses and we were told of what we were eating for each course. We went for the flight of wine which starts at the main course and you get a different type of wine to go with course you were eating. The knowledge of the staff regarding the food and wine was brilliant, We loved it, we were made to feel special that afternoon. When we left we were given a little going away package all neatly wrapped and told to warm in the oven. We did this the next day and it was a kind of malty bread, delicious. This definitely is a treat of a restaurant and would definitely recommend

What can I say that's not already been said? Use any superlative you can think of and then some. Tucked away in a rather "blink and you'll miss it" victorian townhouse is this superb restaurant. Lorry driver & cleaner made to feel like millionaire lottery winners. Been lucky enough to have dined at a couple of Michelin star restaurants but always felt the urge to "let's have a burger" afterwards. Not here though, oh, no. Left fully appetite satisfied. Best Sauvingnon blanc we've had and by restaurant prices, a good price. (Had two, and we're from Yorkshire!) It was wife's birthday and also our wedding anniversary and she was skeptical about paying so much for a meal. Changed her mind afterwards. Money we'll spent.

Everything was very nice, from the food (we have regular and no fish tasting menus) to the atmosphere and service. Myself was very full midway through the menu :) Loved the parmesan starters and the amazing soup.

I would like to thank the entire team for making the evening very special. I still see & remember the visit as it was yesterday and in reality it's almost to 2 weeks. Your michelin star is well deserved. From the beginning till the end everything was perfect. My special thank you goes to Bethany. Thank you for taking me with you to the journey of sommelier. The wine presentation showed that you know what you are talking about. The short stories behind those wines were amazing. The highlight was that south african wine. As you said it was meant to be. Thank you!

Out of this world, every single dish had a spacial taste to it and each bite had a special flavor. My husband wished if there was beef or chicken breast options available.

Has become a regular of ours for special occasions. The food today though was especially delicious. Every course on the lunch short tasting menu was splendid. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the monkfish, followed by the lamb, foie gras and bread course. But every course was amazing. Perfect place to spend my 30th with my family :) THANK YOU RESTAURANT 22! 💙

A beautiful little jewel of a restaurant. Enjoyed a fab evening out with my foodie buddy, and we enjoyed the short tasting menu with matching flight of fine wines. Everything was so well considered, the portion sizes make for a lovely meal where you get to taste so many delightful things, feel well fed but not overstuffed by the end. The wines were beautifully matched with the food, nothing out of balance and the staff were delightful, welcoming and knowledgeable about both the food and drinks served. The petit four were so delicious and a perfect way to round off the meal. Yes, it's a fancy treat experience, but it's worth every penny.

Beautifully presented, exquisitely tasteful food, each course artfully accompanied with wine. Even the short tasting menu left us full. The staff were attentive, friendly and added some personal touches for this birthday outing.

This is a very special place. We have eaten here 3 times over a few years and it just continues to improve. The food is absolutely incredible- such thought and attention to detail and flavours. The staff are also excellent. Friendly and welcoming without an ounce of pretentiousness. I’ve never been to a place the serves food this good in such a nice atmosphere (including some 3* places) The team work so hard and I wish Alex & Sam every success for the future.

Excellent!! Wonderful service and exquisite menu. Often tasting menus have a strong start, but can’t keep up the level for all dishes. Not at Twenty-Two, every dish is delicious, from start to finish. Moreover, the staff is very attentive, and gifting a box with their delicate homemade bread upon departing is a good example of a little touch that can truly elevate the customer experience. Thank you! Looking forward to coming again

I took my fiancé to R22 for his birthday lunch. We had the vegetarian tasting menu which he paired with soft drinks and I paired the the wine. This was a great idea, as there were quite a few courses and quite a bit of wine. The soft drinks were also well paired for the meal with interesting flavours. The whole experience took around three hours. The staff were friendly and attentive and explained each dish. Each dish was presented beautiful and was delicious. If you are prepared to spend the ££££, R22 is highly recommended.
