Dorothy’s Cardiff 1953 -establishment is a legendary place to relish some chicken curry and chips 🍟 And what if you have late night cravings 🤨 Or been partying all night and want to relish something good Yes Dorothy’s at Cardiff bay is the right place you should head to - they are open from 1 pm to morning 4 am And trust me was surprised to see the rush at that odd hour 3 am in the morning we had to stand in que And finally ordered their signature dish chicken curry with chips 🍟 🍛 It’s sheer pleasure and finger licking good The chicken curry has mild spices and is super hot then comes the chicken pieces they just fall off the bone and cooked to perfection The chips are crisp and fresh Apt combo it is! They have some delectable fish chips and just chicken curry too 😍✅ Late night cravings sorted 😍😇 Tip off the quantity is huge and will suffice for two , one portion coat 5.5 pounds ! Been coming to Dorothy's for years always have the same, chicken curry cheese and chips. The curry sauce is world famous well Cardiff famous anyway, so fruity and flavoursome. The chips are spot on crunchy yet lovely and fluffy inside. If your in Cardiff no better fast food place.

Quite possibly the best chip shop I've ever been to! Their chips are great on their own but if you are fancying something more the chicken curry and chips is to die for. The chip shop has a small eat in area if you don't fancy take away, both are fantastic.

Fresh food on a busy match day with hundreds of customers, I was in and out with 15 people in my group in 10 mins, food was hot and delicious, the fish was massive, the sausages was cooked to perfection the rissoles where huge, and they was all delicious. I can recommend this place highly. Food seems a little pricey but so is everything at the moment, so they wasn’t too expensive for what you get I think it’s a fair price for great service and great food.

I had to try out the gravy and chips. Everybody seemed to coming out of the pubs and heading for here. Dry long drunk queue but worth the wait. It was only gravy and chips but was it was tasty

This is always my first choice if I crave some quick food on matchday. Staff are friendly and efficient, even on the busiest of days. Food always comes out quickly and tastes superb.

Perfect food. Tasty, big portions. Slow cooked fish and a curry sauce you can never have enough.

We were looking to get some carbs on board prior to the Prodigy gig in Cardiff, some 'fat of the land' you could say . Picked Dorothy's at random, with some trepidation but it was quite busy 'everybody was in the place'. No need to have worried, I could 'breath' easy. Freshly cooked chips that were up there with the best, a generous portion (not quite '3 kilos') a battered jumbo sausage with no gristly bits and a good classic flavour with decent batter. The coup de gras though was the curry sauce, absolute 'serial thrilla', much more tasty than the usual pale yellow chip shop gloopy 'poison' and with a perfect consistency. We ate inside, not 'out of space' it was very clean and the staff were friendly and polite, definately not 'voodoo people'. I recommend a visit and give Dorothy's 'your love' . The gig was great by the way.

Chips aren’t quite cooked and taste like the frozen stuff you get at the store. Fish was ok, although I had some heavy oily pockets as I was chewing through.

We asked for cheese chip gravy and then nuggets on the side and they charged me £10 for it all together. My friend is lactose intolerant and we explained that but didn’t get a replacement instead they told us to pay another £10. disgusting. I would like a refund

The place to go after a decent night out in Cardiff. Their chicken curry and chips rounds off a great evening!

Had the chicken curry with no chips (£5.60). A tray full of lovely tender chicken smothered in the famous curry sauce. Highly recommended!

Decent chips cod and gravy for around £10. Asked for fresh fish, but don’t think it was. 7/10

The chips aren't cooked. In any way. I grew up with Caroline Street chips and I can't believe how terrible this was. Shame on you for selling out

It's fish 'n chips and fish 'n chips can't fail to please if it's done properly, using fresh fish, proper spuds, and l the right consistency of batter, cooked in the best frying oil at the right temperature. Well Dorothy's has certainly got it right because I couldn't fault it, and the chunk of fish was so big I had to ask for a doggy bag. So full marks on that, and for the cosy dine-in area in which to enjoy it. However, Dorothy's is typical of 99% fish bars in Cardiff in that the only fish in the sea is cod, which is boring. Also, if tables and chairs are there for dining in, why not proper crockery and real cutlery and a glass for your drink instead of disposable paper and plastic. If they gave me a small discount. I'd happily wash my own dishes. So good but not exceptionally so, which misses the mark, unfortunately.

Terrible chips Honestly possibly the worst chips I've ever had. Would have been nice if they had cooked them first

Incredibile amount of delicious food for a low price. Plus, the staff was really awesome, kind and attentive. Best place ever. I'll miss Dorothy's Fish Bar

The epicentre of Chippy Lane. It has long been a shining beacon (or a homemade rissole on a plastic fork!) for late night grub or an afternoon Traditional Fish & Chips Dinner in their sit-down side. Homemade rissoles, scotch eggs, fish cakes, chicken nuggets.....

I have been to Dorothy's for at least 30 years, and after traveling hundreds of miles to get back to Caerdydd after all this time, I am so disappointed going there today for the first time in nearly 4 years. New owners have got rid of all the favourites, eg battered beef burger, Not the place it used to be. So much for progress.

Saturday night fish, love having fish from Dorothy's fish bar. Good portions of curry and chips i saw go out the door, lots of good humoured banter between staff and customers

Just wanted a bite after watching strongman at the motorpoint. It seemed fitting to go down chippy lane, queue was long so we popped in. Chicken curry was nice and partners fish wasn't bad. Abit pricey for what it is but filled the void.

Hey guys JPfoodreviews here, this is my go to after a heavy session of tearing up the dance floor, the fish and chips here are great value for money and I always get some fish fingers, if you know what I mean ;), as soon as I step foot in to Dorothy I get an instant erection, overall all 10/10 would 100% recommend Many thanks JPfoodreviews

Not much to look at but the fish and chips are fresh tasty and worthy of a visit. Go during the day when the fish is fresh and the drinks are away.

Had fish, chips & cheeseburger there earlier today. Fish was crumbly and bland, the burger and chips were overcooked and dry. The cheese used was grated, which isn’t really ideal. The bread roll was very crumbly and dry. One of the female staff members seems to have a clear attitude problem. Don’t intend on returning in future.

Never had a bad Fish and Chips here, a scrumptious choice. They do a Corned Beef torpedo thing, can't remember what's it called but a very tasty snack!

Best one in Cardiff's 'chip shop alley' 😄 been using it for years & we always go there after the Wales footy. Well recommended, the chicken curry & chips is great. 😉
