I was there a week ago.. This the worst hospital I been to and I have been to other five ph hospitals before. The staff is TERRIBLE they mentally and verbally abuse you one staff member even put his hands on me because I wouldn't go to my room. The staff treats you like animals always screaming and making fun of you. They make you stay in your rooms for hours, they won't let you stand and talk outside the room or else they send to your room. There is no outside breaks and there is no break room to watch TV because it was usually locked. There is only 1 phone and you have get in a list to use it for only 5 minutes. The staff was just terrible, very unprofessional and very disrespectful. They all should get fired . Oh one thing, the air condition doesn't work and I was there September when is super hot. The building is really old and falling apart. College hospital should be shut down and torn down. I still have nightmares about this place.

I was here a while ago, but I was withdrawing from my medications (they didn't even give me a lower dose - just cold turkey) and puking every 15-30 minutes. I even puked up the water and nausea meds that I drank to make it better. The nurses didn't even care about what was happening. My roommates had to keep going up to them to advocate for me and yelling that I was puking again, but they didn't care. Groups were useless. Food was okay. Glad I only had to be there until my 5150 was up. The doctor was nice though.

The fact that a lawyer is trying to get my brother here after his release from jail (he is under conservatorship for schizoaffective) is giving me anxiety. I’m gonna do everything in my power to not bring him here. I’ve heard of this place years ago and looking at these reviews and seeing how BAD this place is still its terrible. Imagine being someone with grave mental health issues and you’re put to go through this hell hole of medical professionals who should be there to help you and treat your condition but it’s totally the opposite and thrown into the cages with others helplessly.

This hospital is abusive and uncaring. Dr. Pratty is a horrible psychiatrist and human who should lose his license. He should not be treating children. My sibling was admitted to College Hospital with him as their psychiatrist, and he immediately put them on a cornucopia of medications BEFORE EVER SEEING THEIR MEDICAL RECORDS. They could’ve had a medical condition that was wildly contraindicated with the medications he prescribed, and in fact they were on medications that had horrible interactions with some of the medications he prescribed. He insisted that they were bipolar, and prescribed them antipsychotics, despite the fact that they have NEVER displayed any symptoms or signs of bipolar disorder and no psychiatrist has ever even suggested it before. They were initially placed on a three-day hold at the hospital, but it was quickly extended to fourteen more days, which I am certain Dr. Pratty had a hand in. My mother called Dr. Pratty with questions regarding the medication he was prescribing my sibling, and he was extremely condescending to her. He dodged her questions and patronized her, and when she mentioned that her sister was a psychiatrist and she had consulted with her, he almost immediately hung up without answering her concerns. It has been over a week now and he has yet to call her back. Do NOT put your child in Dr. Pratty’s care. He should not be allowed to practice medicine AT ALL. My sibling was isolated for days after they were admitted on a “special program”; they were forced to eat in the hallway alone outside of the cafeteria, were not allowed to interact with other patients in there, and were not allowed outside. They were treated like they were violent and dangerous, even though they’ve never hurt anyone other than themselves. They were given an 80 page packet they had to complete before they could be allowed to eat in the cafeteria, go outside, etc., but they had no way to complete it as they were not allowed to use a pencil without supervision and no one was ever available to supervise them. They have accommodations for a learning disability, and the hospital claimed that they would accommodate, but days went by without any change happening. They only had their disability accommodated once we spoke to a nurse who sympathized as she had also had an IEP. Someone lied to our insurance company about my sibling’s state, as an excuse to keep them there longer - the insurance told us that someone had reported that they were not doing basic living tasks, despite the fact that they were, for the first time in months, doing these tasks. It is extremely hard to get in contact with anyone in a position of authority to make any changes. People just ignore you. If you have ANY say in it whatsoever, DO NOT GO HERE.

I placed an order for medical records back in April, I went in person to fill out paperwork. I have been waiting to receive a call to pick up records or receive it in mail. It is June now and I have not received anything. I called and the lady told me I did not fill out my address which is ridiculous because they still have my address on file. She also said her "director" has been trying to call me and leave voice messages but I have not gotten anything from her. She went on to tell me with an attitude "I know my director and she would do so". They aren't very well when it comes to customer service.

DON'T DO IT!!! DON'T! Choose another facility. How are they still operating? I hate that I have to even give 1 star. I have a twenty seven year old niece, who has schizophrenia for a few years however, has a brain injury from getting hit by a car. Her meds were causing her to be out of control so I personally drove her and checked in so I can get some relief. Well, after 3 days and NO assessment which is literally what all the other reviews state, I decided to have her leave against medical advice. They wouldn't speak to me even though I am her durable poa etc. They went back and forth with me playing games on the phone and Dalia even hung up on me. Their favorite line is, "we don't have a waiver to speak with you" I filed for emergency Conservative ship while she was there to avoid the games they could've potentially played and YUP THEY DID! They end up telling me that she is gravely disabled and decided to put her on a 72 hour hold. I questioned if the person who made this determination is a specialist in brain injuries? Jesus, a nurse stays quiet and isn't able to provide me with the name of the staff that came to this conclusion and said he'd get back to me.....Im still waiting 🤡. I sarcastically asked this question because it doesn't take a brain scientist to know that a person with a brain injury is in fact gravely disabled. 🙄🙄 There was nothing that this facility could do in 3 days that would improve her condition. Anyway, only after a probate Investigator that was on the case for the conservativeship went physically to see my niece, did the facility advise she would be released😉. It didn't end there. First I'm told to get her at 1130am, then I get a call telling me not until 330pm. Once I did pick her up and receive her medications which were sealed in a bag, it had the previous day as the date they were filled. Like why keep her an additional day just to be !$%$!T ugh!!! They have so many complaints against a Dr Pratt. This is insane! It's literally medicare/ insurance fraud.

I was a patient here and experienced a lot of the same things other people did who posted here. I could say a lot about this hospital but I don't think it would really matter coming from someone who has mental illness. The only good thing I will say is that some of the nurses here were nice to me. Instead of saying all the bad things that happened to me here as a mentally ill person, I will just mention something else. It is really interesting there are no responses to any of the reviews of this hospital by this hospital. That pretty much says it all.

I just want to start to say this place is for health evaluation. And the working staffs don't comply to human right acts. Which goes against civilization. Nobody has been able to make a change in this facility. And staffs have a hard time to comply with residents help. They said my stay was 72 hours but turned out to be 13 days.

On a scale of 1 to 10, this place is a negative 10 at best. DO NOT COME HERE. FIND ANOTHER PLACE. YOU WILL COME OUT WITH MORE ISSUES THAN YOU WENT IN WITH. This place is depressing and dirty and the food is beyond terrible. This place is unorganized and lacks viable resources. Sorry but group therapy was useless. The doctors are also hit and miss. For the most part, the staff was ok, but nothing to rave about. The staff is also extremely loud at night. Between the loud staff and the manic patients, I was completely exhausted by the time I was discharged. Based on my experience all the negative reviews are spot on.

The staff was decent The actual building is old, like 70s . Everyone sleeps on a wood bench and a pad, really uncomfortable. You will share a bathroom with 6 patients that doesn't have a full door. Most patients are scary, angry, screaming and slamming doors. There is no actual therapy, just coloring. I would not select this facility.

I just got out of college hospital Cerritos. They are a horrible place and should be shut down. they tried to put me on 5250 ( 14 day hold) without an evaluation, they were breaking the law and ignoring our own safety. When I was in the unit I got a threat by a patient and I reported it to the staffs and they didn't do anything about it. So I kept complaining and they completely ignored my safety. Something needs to be done to stop this abuse to patients kids and up.

It’s incredibly disheartening to know that so many individuals are having such horrible experiences with this hospital. Being admitted nearly 14 years ago, I remember feeling isolated and locked away from the world, not receiving the necessary treatment I needed in order to recover. It wasn’t until after leaving in which I was able to get the help I needed. It’s so sad to know that things haven’t changed. I hope for some sort of reform in the program as it is instrumental to betterment of today’s youth.

I hated my whole stay here. I was at this hospital for two weeks in august and it was genuinely the worst time I’ve ever had in my life, I believe I was on the north wing, the staff would talk about me in Spanish when I speak the language, on the beginning of the second week they did not let me use the phone, I told them that’s something that could get them in trouble everyone else went but me, the staff member sung out “locked up they wont let me out” and the whole staff laughed with her. I was also told by one of the staff members “dont talk about it, be about it” when I told him I did not want to hurt him. We wore cortezs and has a bald head, he needs to be fired immediately

I went here a few years ago for treatment and it wasn’t the best experience in the beginning. For the past 6 months, the first 2 weeks were pretty restless, Lots of screams at night that made me unable to sleep, Showers that has less hot water, and personal belongings being stolen. Be aware that if you’re in one of the autistic units mixed with men and women from teens to adults there is a lot of heavy verbal and physical abuse so keep your distance if you don’t want to get beat up or harassed. You will get handcuffed, wheeled on a gurney, and wheeled to a restraining room for an hour or until your cal. Luckily I wasn’t there during my stay. They are even aggressive towards the staff. Some of the staff I met are actually very kind sociable people who seem to be used to listening to to patients scream into their face or wanting to bite their wrist.

My son was a patient as his lithium was out of whack. He was assaulted in the middle of the night by a patient. The doctor met with him for 10 minutes and told him he’s ordering my son to stay longer. They do not provide any treatment, just meds. Horrible horrible place that left my son as traumatized when he left.

Violated HIPPA left and right. Unhelpful and rude nurses, that make you feel like you are nothing more than your diagnosis. One nurse in particular was bad, Kim in unit 1N. She would get mad at patients for delusions they could not help and even make them worse. The shining star was a CNA named Esmeralda. She was always kind and patient and made me feel safe during her shift. DO NOT GO HERE!

The staff for the adolescent unit was supportive and communicative. The social workers, Francisco and Alex, were so kind and receptive. The nurses such Kimberly and Brittany were consistently available to give us feedback. We are grateful as this is no easy feat to help struggling teens!

Organized psychiatric care for patients to be abilitated properly to realize that they should not be the problem, and instead, come up with a solution. Attentive workers. Mulu, one of the medical staff did an excellent job making sure I was properly informed about one of the patients with the patient's concent about how they are doing and how they have been improving. Thank you for the help and assistance that you all provide. I am grateful for the staff and the patients that take the time to be a part of the solution.

What a place. I was brought here by the cops about a month ago. I was detained and sent to College Hospital. The Weekend staff were the nicest. A lot of the staff didn't have respect. Kids were constanly getting body shamed. I sat and watched this girl try and end her life and i tried to save her i called for help and they came, one of my roomates was 13 and she had just witnessd a girl trying to kill herself and she was in full shock she was having a panic attack and shaking. The staff just ignored her there was a staff standing at the door and just watched her cry. i was put on medication while being there so i felt nothing. The staff didn't do anything they ignored 3 girls that were crying and shaking eventually i yelled at the staff to do something and he did nothing . i watched the staff laugh at people who would cry. I watched the staff mock people and make jokes out of them. Most of the "rights" they gave me i didn't have. They would go through your stuff and take your rights paper away so you wouldn't know what was wrong and what was right. they tell you that you're involved in your treatment your not. My docotor only saw me for 5 min we had no help. They didn't infrom me i was starting meds till they tried to force a pill down my neck. They threatend me by saying if i didn't take the pill i would be stuck there. Nothing they did helped me. I watched them manipulate and miss treat kids. Staff would yell at kids for asking questions or just ignore them. We spent mainly our days in our rooms. We got 30 Min of outside time everyday. calls are 10 min they only gave us 5 if we went over they would yell at us. The rooms were filthy. There was mold next to the beds and blood stains on the walls. A lot of the walls were being peeled off. The specific room i stayed in there was a conjoined bathroom with the room next door so we would open the bathroom doors and talk we wouldn't have anything else to do so thats how we passed time. The showers were so disgusting and moldy staff would open the bathroom door and yell at you if you took too long. Nothing about this place was hygenic. The food was old and disgusting kids had allergies or couldn't eat certain things and they wouldn't care. they would give them nuts if they couldn't eat the food. If you were on a special meal plan you would mainly get grilled cheeses or shall i say dry cheese. The bread wasn't toasted. Staff would constanly shame kids there and bully them. Nothing about this place will help you

I was placed on a 72 hour hold at the end of March. Which like many other people, turned into a 14 day hold with NO evaluation. These people will do anything and everything to get your money. They put me on six different drugs and only prescribed me and had on record two. The doctor saw me for a grand total of 20 minutes my whole five day stay. Which in fact only was granted because I talked to a patients rights advocate. I was threatened and touched by a girl in my room and was told there was nothing they could do until someone left and a new bed opened up. This place has caused more trauma than anything I’ve ever experienced.

Please do not take your loved one here, unless it’s an ABSOLUTE last resort. Dr. Gadson Johnson is a horrible doctor and deserves to lose his licensing. He kept my boyfriend past the 72 hours because he didn’t take the time of day to sit down and speak to him. He spent less than a minute a day with him and asked him the most basic questions, which somehow prompted Dr. Johnson to write down on his paperwork saying he was a danger to himself, others, and was gravely disabled. He took his medication and went to all his groups and never expressed anything concerning. His case manager and the nurses there all told him he should be good to go after the 72 hours, but at the end of the day Dr. Johnson decided to extend his hold WITHOUT telling him. Staff there pretty much admitted that doctors check all the boxes when they don’t have enough time to fully evaluate you, how are you stuck there for 3 whole days and still somehow don’t get assessed? Sounds like incompetence to me.

I was a voluntary patient here about 2 months ago and am still recovering from the trauma this place gave me. I was placed in acute ward which I found out by a nurse later was an accident on their end, as it turns out i was supposed to be placed in less severe ward. The acute ward was so dirty was food and trash all over the floor, and they were blasting music during free time (aka when you can use the pay phone) so loud you can’t even hear yourself talk. My roommate threatened me the minute i stepped into the room telling me to “watch myself while i’m sleeping” and the staff placed me in another room after i begged them. I then asked to be moved to a different ward as I felt i was not on an acute level and they did not listen to me. I begged for hours and hours and they simply brushed me off and treated me like a prisoner and not a person wanting help for their mental illness. Finally they moved me over to a different ward at 10pm and the room they gave me had no pillows or blankets and they said they would be right back to get me some. They never did so I slept on my jacket as a pillow. Then they started calling me by my middle name which i never requested and did not care to update their chats for me and multiple staff members kept calling me my middle name. They do not listen to you AT all and again treat you like a prisoner. I also expressed i need medication i take regularly and they never gave it to me. I spoke with a doctor asking to leave because this place was doing more harm than good at this point, and he said he would look into it and come get me in an hour. 4 hours later i check with the nurse with what’s happening and he went home without updating me or anyone. I had to go through (not exaggerating) 6 different people to try to leave this prison and they all said “so and so will come grab you for the next step” and then someone else comes and has no idea what i’m talking about. This was one of the worst experiences of my entire life. The staff are violating multiple health and safety codes and this place needs to be shut down. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE never take yourself or your loved ones here. please find an alternative as this place puts you at risk for greater mental health struggles. Everyone deserves to stay as far away as possible from here.

Have been there many times but was annoyed by staff and the doctors. When I was 18 teen I had a doctor who would not let me leave I was there for 2 months because I would not admit I was bipolar. I hated it and the place is always freezing cold. Never go there.
