Horsey Beach

Beach pavillion

πŸ‘πŸ‘ The highlight of our visit to Norfolk. We were very excited to see seals playing in the sea just in front of us... they seemed to be showing off for us, as they kept coming to where humans were on the beach. We were then gobsmacked to find well over 100 seals out on the beach further up. Well worth... People often mention seals, beach, walk, visit, seal, parking, time, pups, great, park,

My family visit Great Yarmouth for vacation almost every year, and this is the first time we came to Horsey Beach to see seals. Fortunately, we saw a group of seals sunbathing on the beach. Our kids are amazed. The parking here is very convenient, and then walk 2-5 minutes to the beach. The sea water is clean, and there are seals swimming in the water all the time, and some will go ashore to rest. When entering the beach, there will be reminders to keep a distance from seals and avoid leaving any garbage. It was very sad to see a seal’s neck stuck in a plastic ring, and I hope a professional can rescue him.

Great for seeing the local grey seal colony. From November to January. Mums and pups come onto the dunes to give birth and raise their pups. I advise you arrive as much before 11am as you can as the carpark here gets very busy. Friends of Horsey Seal team are on hand for advice and guidance. The path that runs parallel to the beach (turn right from the carpark and don't climb up to the beach near the pillbox...) is a great place to see pups up close as they often settle here Highly recommended. A 10/10 experience.....

Good location to see seals throughout the year, visited late April and there was around 1000 on the shores from large bull seals to pups. Access down to the beach isn't great, your choices are sandy dunes or dunes into a stair set of sand. Be responsible and keep your dog on a lead when near the seals.

We hoped to see a few seals on our visit and we were lucky enough to see hundreds of seals on multiple sections of the beach. We were lucky to only need to walk 5 minutes from the car park to where the seals were. Parking was reasonable, we paid Β£3 for 2 hours. We visited at around 3.30pm in the spring and the car park was fairly empty. A great trip for all ages, it was well worth the visit!

Lovely beach! I went a few days ago. I walked across the beach as I was told the seals were up there. I was amazed to see so many seals sleeping! We all stayed back and didn't get too close as they were alert. The sea is very clean and nice.

Really well organised, volunteers explaining where the grey seals were and where you could walk. The seals are currently pregnant so the beach is off limits, great sight

Such an amazing experience. Be so closed to wildlife. You can be part of their day routine, but please respect their home. From October till January you are not allowed 🚫 to walk on the sand there is very important reason for this. You can walk up hill along the beach. Check my photos.😊

Nice little beach where we can often spot seals bobbing around in the sea. There is a pay and display car park at Horsey Gap, but there isn't much else in the way of amenities. There is a large sandy incline followed by an uneven cement decline, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

First ever sighting of seals in the wild. Visited twice, once in a heavy rainstorm and then again the next morning when it was sunny and dry, albeit breezy. Worth coming here just to sit back at a distance and seal watch. Beach is clean and tidy too and cliffs are nice to walk along.

Beautiful hidden gem where you're literally 20ft from Seals in the sea. We parked at horsey gap which cost Β£3:50 for 2hours. The whole family absolutely loved it. Regardless of the weather, it was a great experience.

Family trip with the grandkids and not forgetting the pooch!! Couple of times now and definitely suggest arriving not much later than 10am to get parked. Love seeing the seals. Wonderful walk along the beach.

My disappointment point was to arrive in place where they been kind and friendly to show where is a pay point and charge you for parking like Gangsters - NOT BOTHER TO PAY FOR usage BUT TO DRIVE 2 hours with kids and they inform you after you paid parking fee that NO TOILETS FACILITY ON SITE and bushes are smelling urine as people don’t have facilities to use like mobile toilets, near car park. Where YOU MUST DRIVE OFF FOR another 10min one way to find the public toilet. On your return they will tell you don’t forget to pay your parking… WTF…!!! They’re here only to grab money from visitors for nothing. Well… other-side, Nature wise is a fantastic example of wild environment worth to visit apart the personal needs.

We visited the beach today in hope of seeing the grey seals. It was very cloudy, windy and cool which was stirring up some large waves. We saw a large seal on the beach and lots of seals bobbing around in the waves. We were slightly disappointed not to see more seals on the sand. It was Β£3.50 to park. The beach it only a short walk from the car park. We spent about 2 hours walking on the sea wall and a short time was spent sat seal spotting. We enjoyed our time here definately worth a visit.

Probably the best beach ever - massive dunes to explore, clean sandy beach that doesn't feel too busy and best of all a large colony of 200+ grey seals. Incredible how close you can get to see them - we could have spent hours just say there watching them all. Why spend masses on a seal viewing boat trip at nearby Blakeney! The beach is dog friendly too.

So lovely to visit the place. Loads of beautiful seals. Clean place. My only suggestion is that to protect nature children should not be allowed near the seals. There must be some sort of barriers so that people don't get too close with these beautiful creatures. Although there are one or two signs on what might happen to the seals if they throw "rings", a barrier of some sort may also be helpful

We visited last week ( mid march) Omg we were blown away ( yes it was windy, but it was also just mind blowing) There were so many seals, we didn't expect to see the amount we did. My two children were amazed. The lovely warden stood chatting to us about the seals and answering our questions. We kept our distance and walked along close to the wall and then we walked back across the top of the grass path looking down on all the seals. There is a good sized carpark, with an overflow for busier times ( the warden said it's really busy January time as that's when the seal pups have been born) Honestly a must see place if you are visiting great Yarmouth. Not buggy or wheelchair friendly I'm afraid, as it is a sandy beach.

Lovely beach, loads of seals swimming just offshore. Endless sand so great for the kids. One very annoying issue is that some man was flying a drone over the beach, there were lots of families with children on the snd at the time.

Lovely beach with so many seals!!! We visited on a rainy, cold, stormy morning and saw loads. No one else around so really got to enjoy it all to ourselves. Well worth the visit. Be aware car park is really pot holey and restrictive (no motor homes / campervans (we were ok in our van though and the wardens came round and didn’t say anything)), good price.

Very popular beach for viewing seals, well kept and reasonable parking costs and it’s lovely to see the seals looked after. My only niggle would be with it being so popular it really needs a toilet and a basic food/drink outlet would do very well as well even if it’s only for drinks.

A great place for a walk, and to see the seals. An easy walk from the beach to the Nelson's Head pub if you need some sustenance πŸ™‚

What a beautiful peaceful beach. Loved that it isn't commercial, just miles of sand and sea, plenty of walks in the dunes. Great for children and dogs alike. Watching the seals on the beach is therapeutic, see them lying there enjoying the warmth of the May sun or going for a dip. Great place to enjoy Norfolk

The combination of hiking and swimming is at this Beach! Get your sleepers and trainers with you. And for the seal🦭. Well they are less than before but you will see them here.. problem is there is no toilet so be careful. BTW this is the best place for photography so take your camera with youπŸ’ͺ thank me later

Lovely natural beach with paid parking nearby. We saw many seals swimming in the sea. One thing to note is we did not see any usual beach facilities so take necessary supplies with you. It is sandy beach with plenty of area so I don't think it can ever be crowded.

Very windy but very beautiful! So lovely to see the seals from a safe distance, there were seal wardens to ensure no one approached the seals! Very lovely beach with nice views and walks. Lots of parking space as well (pay and display parking)

Nice beach that we only visit to see seals with their pups. Can walk along the dunes to admire the view, not aloud to go on the beach at this time. Lots of volunteers around, and drinks and snacks available when we visited recently. Not sure this is available all the time or just while seal pups around.

Superb experience! Here, the North Atlantic seals come to rest and deliver their pups between November and February. Excellent to watch wildlife in their natural habitat.

Awestuck with the seals riding the roaring waves and strutting out their heads. Never been with nature in its roaring beauty this close to the seals. The place is well kept with helping attendants. Could have toilets.

A bucket list gor my daughter to see the seals. It was very cold and windy but worth travelling to see . The car park was very close to the entrance to the beach and hard standing. Not too expensive either .
