Here are college kids selling gear like a sporting goods store. Go across the street to Bendgate mountaineering. Staff there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend it to any mountaineering novice or pro!

A decent selection of gear but none of the staff seem to be happy there. Also it seems like none of the staff are super familiar with the products they carry. On multiple occasions I have called and asked if they had certain products and I was told “no” but have later found myself in store and they have the exact product I asked about.

Jo in the shoe section is an absolute gem. She may be young, but don’t be fooled, she has a lot of detailed info and recs for “difficult” feet (and in my case, knee issues as well). I’ve been to two REI’s and literally tried everything they had for my wide toe box, wideish midfoot, and super narrow heel w no luck. Jo is the first person to introduce me to the world of shoe inserts to help with heel cup issues, lack of cushioning etc. Total game changer. She had multiple creative suggestions and really knew her stuff! Thanks again, Jo!

Good selection of outdoor clothes from Patagonia, North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Kuhl, & others. Good spot for camping/hiking too. Vital leans more into the summer outdoor activities (they still carry some winter stuff), while the other outdoor store in Golden leans more into the winter activities. Glad to have both!

Good sale on Patagonia shorts, but the employee left the security tag on them and I live hours away.

This curly black haired employee was so rude to us today when we stopped in, it was surprising to see how busy it was. There are enough outdoors stores in greater Denver, not sure these guys get another chance to earn my business. I’ll stick with Voormi and co.

If you're looking for overpriced clothing they've got some solid stuff. If you're looking for actual outdoors gear, the selection is okay but you'll do much better at REI.
