It was our 1st wedding anniversary and we decided to treat ourselves visiting The Fox. We were welcomed by the lovely Carlos, who showed us to our room, The Stockbridge. It was a beautiful room, decorated with delightful designer furnishings which gave it a very homely feel. There was a fridge with fresh milk, the tea tray was loaded with a variety of yummy biscuits as opposed to just one packet between two, a lovely selection of teas and a nespresso machine for coffee. Small luxury touches of essential oil toiletries, thick cosy white towels and glass bottles of water were a lovely surprise. There was a huge fan, a DAB Bluetooth radio, loaf sofa bed, Bosch Iron and hairdryer. The food was out of this world and cooked to perfection, we had home made scotch eggs for starters, the line caught fish & chips and Waygu beef burger for main and poached pear for dessert and because it was our anniversary the staff decorated a plate with white chocolate and fresh fruit spelling out ‘Happy Anniversary’ this was a lovely touch. The breakfast was just what needed after a little too much Gin and champagne, we had fresh pastries, full cooked breakfast and plenty of warm toast. Tina, who served us, was full of helpful and historical knowledge of the area and surroundings giving us loads of ideas with what to do! All of the staff were so welcoming, friendly and attentive making you feel like the only people there even though the pub was packed! This is our new favourite place and we will definitely be going back to stay! Thank you Foxy staff for making our weekend so special! See you very soon! Shellie & Matthew Barnes-McKay

Lovely pub with great food and friendly, helpful staff. The room was spacious and clean. The dinner was so good, as was the breakfast. Tina our waitress found out we came by train and were going to explore Winchester so arranged for us to drop off our suitcase at their sister restaurant Shoal, which was great. We also ate there, highly recommend this restaurant as well.

High standards marketed, unfortunately fell short of great expectations, food varied from great to ok, shame. Slow in attendance being the main issue, maybe too busy for labour available?

Food was fantastic, but I did find the waiting staff a little lacking with regards to the style of drinks and preparation methods of dishes.

We have seen Kenny on James Martin's Saturday morning show, so we managed to get a booking and it was well worth the visit. In Crawley just North of Winchester, The Fox is an old building. There is a card park in the rear, it is a little close for managers however most cars will get it into the spaces. From the car park there are stairs to the main entrance or you could use the car park slope if needed. The entrance is through some seating and then into the restaurant. There is inside and outside seating options - both perfect for dining. The menu is not huge, however the choices are varied (I would have eaten the entire menu if I had been allowed and could of eaten everything in one sitting). The food is exceptional as are the drinks available. The lady serving us in the outside dining area was just so professional, friendly, engaging and supportive to every request made by us. The whole team were attentive and professional throughout our time. I would highly recommend a visit here - we are planning our next visit already.

We had a meal booking at the pub for our group of six on a Sunday afternoon. Staff were accommodating and very friendly. Food came out incredibly quickly after ordering and the presentation clearly showed the restaurant's attention to detail. Every item was fantastic, well presented and hot. The veggie options were decent and enjoyed by the majority of our group. The best bit was the cheesecake, which was possibly one of the best I've ever had. Can highly recommend this luxurious pub for lunch, dinner and drinks!

Four of us visited this delightful gastropub one sunny Friday for a family reunion. We sat in the secluded courtyard and enjoyed a most relaxed meal. We all partook of one of the Light Bites, which are most competitively priced. I enjoyed a pint of real ale from a local brewery. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the bill and vowed to return soon.

Lovely to find a properly dog friendly pub, that's great for humans too. We couldn't have been made more welcome. The food for us humans is locally sourced, and I'd recommend leaving space for the local cheese platter.

Went for my mum's birthday and it was incredible! Amazing food, very kind and quick service and a lovely outdoor seating area. To start, some sourdough from the Hoxton Bakehouse in town. It was warm and crusty and the best way to start the meal - it also came with butter but as I am vegan I was offered olive oil instead! I had the vegan burger which was delicious - the chilli dip topped it off perfectly and if only I could make chips like that at home! Vegan pavlova with strawberry sorbet for pudding. I gasped when I saw this on the menu and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. It was presented beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. Definitely going back!

Excellent meal, and very friendly staff. Lovely area. Parking at the back. Take it slow as it is a narrow entry to the car park. Nice location for a stroll after the meal. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Had a lovely roast with the family - one of each - lamb, pork and nut roast. I asked for my lamb to be cooked a bit longer and the staff were more than happy to do that. We did book because after 4pm they stop cooking roast dinner and believe they then serve pizza. The deserts were beautiful too. Great service, very polite and helpful staff and really lovely decor. Would defo go back again 😀

Lovely setup, great service and friendly staff. Food was good. Not amazing but not rubbish. Prices reasonable for the location. We will be going back if that is anything to help decide!

Lunch at The Fox was lovely. A relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. What you call proper food - really well cooked and presented and not extortionate. A good choice on the menu. Would definitely recommend and return.

We visited when camping at Folly farm. Great friendly staff who mixed fruit ciders to taste, great food and fully recommend the Cote during Beuf. Not microwave and reheat menu, good quality fresh food. You must visit!

What a great find this pub was, we booked a room for one night and wished that we could have stayed longer. The room was large with lovely furnishings. Everything was spotless and the staff were great. Breakfast was very good. Having a full English breakfast when you are away is always a bit of a treat and this one was spot on. We can't wait for another excuse to go back and enjoy the effortless service and great food/drink.

Absolutely beautiful place, the food was divine, the waiting staff were very attentive and maybe could have communicated a little more between themselves, a very minor part of a wonderful experience I'd definitely repeat

What a lovely pub, the first time here, and I had a bit of a nightmare morning, so I had to ring and see if i could change the booking. Staff were amazing and were able to move the time slot. Food was well presented, and every course was excellent, especially the ginger pudding. Can say enough how much of a lovely time me and my parents had !

It was perfectly acceptable pub grub, crispy roast potatoes, all very tasty at a good price. The meal was let down by things like having to ask for the salt and pepper, the apple sauce and the horseradish, the spoons to eat the pudding.

Wow. Loved the building, old and new combined, very stylish. Pizza menu that day, delicious. Good, friendly service. The village it was in looked pretty lovely too.

Forst thing I noticed was the amount of used glasses stacked up on the bar waiting to be washed up. Only food available was pizza which I can buy anywhere. Winchester is heaving with pizza places! So, just a quick drink & off elsewhere. Not a good impression & won't bother to go back.

After driving for 3 hours in desperate need of food and drink and going out of our way to visit The Fox after googling and noting the good reviews, I would say very frustrating . Can only order through an app which, if there is no phone reception , you can't order, even though there were 3 bar staff on hand. Explained and showed them the problem, they said go on to The Fox WIFI, which I did. Still unable to order so left. Gobsmacked . Be warned if your phone provided doesn't service in this area, or your phone has no battery is dead this place doesn't offer alternatives

Incredible experience. Everything was effortless, rooms were ready when we arrived, then drinks and dinner. Breakfast was amazing. Paid on checkout. Will be back!

Fantastic breakfast. I had eggs royale and it was delish! Good coffee too. We were also impressed with the lovely service & modern, luxe feel of the space. Our new weekend brunch fave just outside Winchester.

This is serious eating. My friend and I had the 36 day aged Cote De Boeuf and my other mate had Lamb cutlets. We all started with asparagus. Not cheap but because they had a 2 for 1 lunchtime special, we paid £36 each with tip and a superb Hungarian Pinot Noir. Service was knowledgeable and rapid. Value for money indeed. The Fox is set in an achingly beautiful village that I've passed many times without knowing it was there. Sadly, the Fox is 80 miles from me, otherwise, I'd be there regularly.

Just tried the new pizza menu and it was really good. The bruschetta is huge and can be shared between 2. Very fresh and delicious. I recommend the Dulce Piccante and honey on a pizza is a delight! The Shoal gelato is fantastic - particularly lemon meringue. The staff were all wonderful and attentive. Couldn't fault it

Our experience with the Fox was not good I'm afraid it was a celebration of 19yrs together for our anniversary. My husband & myself ordered the steak & it was very chewed I had to return it so I went without my choice. My husband wasn't that much better. Also his dessert was a chocolate pie which I could only discibe as very strong & hard to cut. But to be honest the waiter was very sympathetic. Went to the fox when it first opened amongst other times which was amazing. So I don't know what's happened now. Won't have a meal again sorry bad experience

Spent a lovely night at The Fox on Thursday night, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, if you would like a cocktail made that is not on the menu the bar staff are more than happy to make it for you - Manon was more than happy to make a Singapore Sling for my partner. Becky and her other colleagues were very attentive during our meal. We stayed the night in a room called Littleton. Fantastic, at breakfast we were served by Tina who had extensive knowledge of the area. The food was awesome, the location fantastic and the interior decor is enviable. Thank you

Had been here before and it was wonderful. Today, a special wedding anniversary was AWFUL. The place was cold, the drinks were wrong, service indifferent, and the food very disappointing. The Sunday roast is pretty much all they offer on Sunday, so the normal a la crate not possible. Tried the beef and the pork. Meat not too bad but swimming in dark thick gravy, so not even able to see the fat on the meat to separate it. The roast potatoes had obviously been cooked hours ago and reheated, tasted awful. Lots of other modest vegetables, but clearly they were substituting quality for quantity. Not what we were expecting, and we are still cold. To be fair when the problems were raised with the management the bill was cancelled. Thank you for that. We will go back, on a warm day, and for the a la carte, NOT on a Sunday
