Miss Evelyn can COOK! We stopped in here on a road trip and it was honestly the best decision we could have made. We got the smothered pork chop with mac & cheese and mustard greens and fried catfish with mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. This was the best catfish I’ve ever had (no sauce needed) and the pork chops are so tender that they shred apart. Every bite was better than the last. She also gave us a sample of her incredible cornbread dressing and smothered steak which was phenomenal. Go visit Evelyn, you won’t regret it!

Everything about Evelyn's is great! The food is amazing, the customer service makes you feel at home. I had the baked chicken over mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. As you see, nothing but bones were left. If you live close by, visit. If you live far away, visit. You will not be disappointed. Went again, and everything was just what my taste buds and belly needed! The lima beans were incredible. The Mac and cheese never disappoints. The baked chicken, I wish I could have some right now!

Exceptional customer service and the food is mouth watering,seasoned to perfection, falling off the bones wonderful. my 8month old devoured the cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread.. will most definitely return..

Stopped here just by chance on a road trip. Staff was sooo nice and helpful. I had a veggie plate as I love the southern veggies: okra, greens, cabbage, black eyes peas and mac and cheese of course. Hubby had fried chicken which took a while but was so hot and fresh. Not a heavy breading but light and crispy like homemade. The pecan pie was out of this world.

My wife and I finally got to stop by for some great food. If you walk out of there hungry it's your own fault. It was our first time so our server put together a sampler tray. Our first time to try ox tail and it was very good. Probably my favorite was the pork chops and the meat loaf. We shall return thanks for the great food. Love the family atmosphere

A friendly environment with great staff and delicious food. We ordered the baked chicken and Pig feet along with various sides and corn bread. The beverages were delightful and took me back to being a child eating at moms house. I will definitely be returning to try the rest of the delicious menu.

Visited Evelyn’s 12/17/2023 and it’s still great! I had a fish plate which was seasoned and fried perfectly, Mac & cheese & cabbage!! She was even so sweet to throw in a side of dressing for me and that was a 10/10! Keep it up Mrs. Evelyn💗 I used to be a regular but I moved but I still make my way to see her when I’m passing thru!! Definitely reminded me of old times.

I'll definitely be back. I ordered oxtails with rice and gravy with corn and green beans. They were easily some of the best oxtails I've ever had, and the sides were divine. My gf ordered the smothered pork chops and they were amazingly delicious. We even got to sample other items since it was our first time and it was close to closing time. Evelyn's has a repeat customer in me. Try it for yourself. It's a nice daytrip destination from Houston.

Wow! I had Evelyn’s food once before at a catered event and decided to stop by while in Wharton. Great choice! The soul food was amazing! It tasted like mom cooked it just for me. Mrs. Evelyn was a pleasure to talk to and very helpful. Portions were huge! This is a great place to eat!

The food was amazing and the service superior. My daughter is going to school in Wharton and we stopped by, so glad we did. I know my daughter can get some home cooked meals while there. Ms. Evelyn definitely showed southern hospitality going above and beyond. Thank you!
