I’d like to start off this post by saying I used to love fish den, and prior have never had any issues. The employees are really friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve been debating posting this for days but feel like it should be know. I went in to purchase just a simple rabbit snail. Before putting the snail in my tank I noticed some worm like things swimming around. Knowing fish and doing a lot of research I confirmed it was Planaria. Which the employees confirmed as well. Here’s the real problem… this snail came from a tank kept with multiple shrimp from the store… meaning the shrimp definitely all are affected by planaria. On top of that I wasn’t apologized to, which angers me because I was about to put the snail in with my shrimp.( they all would have died) and it was a complete issue trying to get my money back. Eventually was given store credit but I no longer want to support this company after this. Keep an eye out on what you’re buying!!

Support Local! Not only has this amazing store been locally owned for over 20 years... it also has the best selection of fish, aquariums and everything you need to enjoy keeping fish. The pricing on tanks is on point or better than big box stores. The experts are here....not at some box store that's understaffed and lacking knowledge. Mike helped me get set back up after my old 55gallon sprung a leak. I got an amazing deal on a new tank, stand and lights! Plus he walked me through the process. If you want the best in the hobby... go here.

Love this place. So many options and great customer service. Have had great success with the fish that have been purchased (In pic). They have a horn shark in the Salt water section that I always love to visit. Highly recommend

This has to be my favorite fish store in Colorado. Their fish are so healthy and well fed. They won’t sell you a fish if they suspect it’s going to be sick. They also have the best selection of fish and plants in town for sure!!! They an awesome plant section as well. All of their plants are submursed so they don’t go through a gross looking period compared to plants grown out of the water. Their plants are always green and lush! Most of the stem plants have roots already starting. I have never had an issue with snails or Algee with a quick salt dip and bleach dip. Staff are friendly too. They always ask you if you need help and give advice for your plants and fish. They are also more than ready to answer any possible questions that you may have. There dry good selection is great and they have a ton of different fish tanks to purchase. By far the best fish tank selection in town. I love this shop! Give it a visit.

Crazy assortment of fish here. I will say there's one complaint I have about this place. I don't mind that the shop itself is a sketchy dirty old sort of building. In Denver it's to be expected, so that's fine. But some of the tanks themselves, the water and the glass etc. were looking a bit dirty too. Nothing shocking or crazy bad but compared to other fish stores in the area I was surprised that the tanks here were like significantly more dirty and there was a concerning amount of algae growth. That being said, I did not see and dead, sick, or suffering fish floating around at Fish Den which is a good sign. Stores like Petco and Pet Smart may appear to have clean water but they've actually got all sorts of issues circulating through their water. Which causes suffering, dying, and dead fish floating around when you visit there. Fish Den ain't perfect but compared to the competition, they're great!

I just went earlier today with my roommate and we absolutely loved it. He's planning on starting a tank and got so many ideas from their collection of great hardscape materials and I was getting a plant and my first few fish for my tank. The gentleman was super friendly and made me feel at ease when he got everything for me. The fish acclimated well and look super healthy still, which is always a great sign! I recommend checking them out first over a big name store when you're selecting fish because they look overall healthier with the exact same cost. I know I'm gonna be getting most of my stuff here from now on!

Great service. Attention to detail. They saved my fish that I lamentably had to leave behind. Staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and super sympathetic.

Always love going to see what’s on hand. But as usual when I want to buy something they don’t have it anymore, just my luck! Their prices are a bit pricey but it’s always good just to stop in and see ALL the fish they have in store.

The place had a lot of options and even more neat things to look at! We ended up picking up a few fish and they are very healthy! We will for sure go back but honestly the store needs to be set up better? I'm a bigger person and some parts of the store just... weren't accessible. There were very tight spaces where you have to walk single file and even squeeze in like a cave. I'm surprised it passes fire code. The only other qualm was prices, big chain stores for *sure* beat their prices on everything besides the fish! So if I had to chose between pet stores for fish, I would go here... but tanks and accessories for sure another store! I recommend as long as you aren't claustrophobic and are just looking for fish!

This is a great place to buy fish. They keep most species in their own separate tanks which means they're less prone to disease than you would get with fish from the big box stores that pool water. They also have a very good selection all around and the fish appear well cared for. The people are very knowledgeable and friendly too

First time fish tank owners and the employees here are very patient and helpful with us. They don't just try to sell us stuff and instead are teaching us to taper introducing certain fish to our tank.

Fish Den is a great neighborhood LFS. The staff are always super helpful. I go there weekly for RO water for my 3 tanks and the staff are always delightful and so helpful. They even open the back emergency exit for me so we don’t have the shlep the heavy jugs. A great store that I am grateful is in the neighborhood.

What a wonderful gentleman! Spent out entire morning searching for a filter and within seconds Michael showed us how to check if ours was clogged. We are beyond grateful for the time they took to educate us. Their tanks are breathtaking as well. We truly appreciate you!

The only place to go to for all of your aquarium needs. It's really hard for me to not to spend a lot of money there, especially because of the plants. They have an amazing selection. Definitely check this place out if you haven't!

Had a scare with my fish. The Fish Den helped me out immensely. The Q&A I had with them helped me save my fish from my 210 gallon tank leak. Thank you Fish Den, you helped so much 👍

All of the neon tetras I got here died of tetra disease which is a very contagious parasite infection. A total of ten. Thank god I have a quarantine tank! Treated them for everything then noticed they were developing lumps on their bodies. The corydoras and the hilstream loach seem to be fine. They had a lot of aquariums with not so great looking fish so if you shop here look at the fish very carefully.

This store has been here a very long time & is an amazing store to be in. They have tons of fish in great health, the workers are very knowledgeable & will answer any questions u have. If your looking for an amazing store, then definitely check them out. Petsmart & Petco have nothing compared to the Fish Den. A true fish store!

I wish I could say good things about this store because the ambience in there is beautiful, but I can't. First a bit of backstory: I set up my tank a couple weeks ago and am still trying to get the ammonia cycle started. I have been testing ammonia almost daily and have consistently been measuring ~.025 - 0.50ppm and no nitrites or nitrates. My tank has no fish, just some live plants. The other day I went into Fish Den to browse, get some advice, and buy some plants. This was and still is the only place I have bought plants from. I bought a couple stem plants and some frog bit. Two days later there were Bladder Snails in my tank. I have been picking them out by hand for days and have not made any noticeable dent in the population as they seem to be reproducing faster than I can pick them. So, I went back in just the other day to talk to the employees about the snail infestation I got from them as well as to get my water tested. The woman working there was rude and cold. Then she tried to tell me that my ammonia was reading at 1.5ppm... I don't know if she made a mistake or if she was lying for some reason, but my water is not at 1.5ppm. I left Fish Den and immediately went to About Fish in Westminster and they read my ammonia levels as 0.25 - 0.5ppm from the exact same jar of water, which further confirmed that About Fish got my ammonia levels wrong. Tldr: About Fish has bladder snails! If you don't want snails in your tank forever I wouldn't reccommend buying plants there. They do have a large selection of fish but the woman I've interacted with every time I've gone is rude and she misinterpreted/lied about my water parameters.

I have been coming here for a long time. The place is great. Good quality, great prices. And the fish room is amazing, it's low light is on purpose, for fish comfort and for you to focus on the tanks, and what is in them. You aren't distracted by bright florescent lights.

My family has shopped here for years. It's very well stocked with fresh water fish, as well as salt water, and a great selection of live plants. They also stock feeders and necessities for aquariums and habitats. However the reason we keep going back is the friendly and very knowledgeable staff. They know fish, and treat customers right. I highly recommend it.

huge huge huge some tight squeezes around corners, and hard to see some of the lower tanks, but the selection and size make it worth it. they have everything. a huge selection. of drift wood. a decent substrate selection, and tanks too. a super fun walk through, we couldn't leave without making a purchase. can't wait til next time.

My favorite fish store in town! Lots of cool things to see inside although it is a bit cramped. I think they have more freshwater stuff than salt, but there's a large selection all around. Good place to find nice hardscape like logs and rock.

This place has to offer some of the healthiest looking fish that I've ever seen in a retail fish store. Prices were very reasonable and the staff let customers to their own devices and snoop around. No pressure sales seems to make for a better sale. Appreciate the wide. Variety of fish also.

I have been going here for 2 years now and the employees are all very nice! All the fish I have gotten from here have been in good health. They will do free water testing which is nice. They get their fish in Tuesday nights. One of my cory fish got 2 fins caught in my net and I brought him into there and they helped get him out. This store is one of my favorite places on earth
