We decided to spend our anniversary here as this is where we spent our honeymoon 5 years ago and still love it! The staff are very nice, it's always clean, pool is nice and is 3-5 feet so not very deep but enough to swim laps or just lounge in. The price seems reasonable to us, as we paid $163 for our suite for the night. It's nice to have the roof top restaurant attached! We always get the suites with the hot tub that has a fire place, king bed, stand up shower, and lots of towels. We would highly recommend them and will be going back again.

We stayed one night while visiting my daughter. The room was nice enough, the restaurant was very good. The pool hours do not seem to be enforced as it was still full of screaming children well after 10. Would have been nice to take a dip, but not like that. Adults get one hour to themselves supposedly. Staff was pleasant on check-in and check-out. The walls are very thin..... we had an issue with a loud screaming fight in the room next door and got little sleep. They did send security quickly after I called. When checking out I was told that we'd receive a discount on our stay, which I thought was very nice, however that did not come. I tried to reach the manager several times almost a week later and she wasn't in, would be in later, tomorrow, etc. Sent to VM, but the VM wasn't accepting messages. I'm sure the hotel is very nice for events or families with kids perhaps, but we won't stay there again.

Our wedding party booked this hotel knowing that after the wedding reception we could return to the rooftop bar and continue our festivities. Unfortunately they made the choice to close the bar early and send their servers home early knowing our wedding party would be returning. It was very disappointing. Would not recommend this hotel for weddings.

We stayed here for the USA Soccer Tournament in July, and couldn’t have been more pleased. The pool area was perfect for the kids, gorgeous sitting area/indoor terrace with lots of seating for parents to chat and visit, excellent clean rooms, and very friendly staff. The owner personally checked in with many of us to ensure our stay met our expectations, and I noticed him helping out other staff at busier times. The complimentary breakfast was ideal for kids and families, great tasting coffee, and other drink options. This hotel is in an EXCELLENT location - great proximity to cute quaint shops, the lake, and several restaurants (including Rudy’s - a great rooftop patio at the hotel). We truly felt like we were on a cottage vacation. Overall we highly recommend the hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a wedding at the Country Inn August 5, 2023. Many of the guests were from out of town so most stayed at the hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The wedding reception exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect. The food was plentiful and excellent. The service was on time and efficient. The ballroom looked beautiful. Thank you for everything.

Love this place! Rudy's restaurant, bar and rooftop are a surprising find for newcomers. Room service is fantastic. Awesome pool and hot tub in the center courtyard. Great food and drink options at Rudy's. Great staff! Owner, Bill Foussard, is often around, and is welcoming, personable and grateful.

The Best Western Plus in White Bear Lake, MN is a great choice for lodging, service, and meals. The check-in and checkout were quick and easy. Hotel employees, including the owner, were friendly, pleasant, and concerned for our comfort. The beds were comfy with a choice of feather or foam pillows. The free breakfast was good and had easy access to a variety of choices. The pool and area surrounding were beautiful. We ate dinner in the attached restaurant Rudy’s Red Eye Grill, was excellent. The service was great, food delicious, and prices were fair. I recommend this hotel strongly.

NOTICE, if you have a poolside room: many of these rooms are right next to a reception hall. There was a grooms-dinner outside our room (literally a table six feet from our door) until 10:30 at night. It was very noisy and my two small children were kept up quite late. I tried getting our room switched, but the hotel was fully booked. However, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the staff was very kind.

Our room had a picturesque view of the pool. The beds were so comfortable and the room had been cleaned. There is a great restaurant at this location. An elevator for those who need it and a lot of other amenities for someone who is staying for a while such as the fitness center. Even the grounds outside had places that you could relax in the shade and enjoy the landscaping.

Perfect venue for a wedding party group. Lots of places to socialize such as Rudy's restaurant, the rooftop bar, poolside areas, and in the suite lounge rooms. Great space to accommodate many wedding guests/friends/family. We had a great stay!

This hotel is great! We stayed this weekend but had an issue with our room and the owner, Bill, made it his personal mission to make it right. Very professional staff and ownership all around đź‘Ť

Rented a room to take the kids swimming. The next morning got up to take the kids swimming before we left and it was closed down from chemical imbalance. The staff member was not very friendly about it but the manager or owner volunteered a xomplimentry room which we just used. Everything was fine till I woke up and opened my eyes to what I can only could assume was milk crusted to the decortive pillow I apparently had my face all up in..for whatever reason but the blonde person behind the desk said oh I am so sorry that happened! Your sorry..im sorry I spent$200 on a room at this zhotel..never again. She wasnt even genuine when she spoke at me..not to me at me..

Booked a room on the Best Western website for a stay same day. Booking was no problem, but when I arrived 5 hours later I had to wait for 10 mins for someone to come to the front desk and then I was told that my confirmation and stay could not be fulfilled due to overbooking and I would have to find other accommodations and that they were sorry. The lady at the front was very quite, barely looked at me, and did not offer any help or anything else in the situation. The parking is not ideal with the restaurant at this location. The front was full and had to park in the back and walk around to get to the front desk for checking in. Update - management responded to address the issue of overbooking. They were sincere, apologetic, easy to talk to, and willing to "make things right". I appreciated the effort they made. I would be willing to book again if my travels bring me there again.

My stay with absolutely wonderful. I have never stayed anywhere where the owner came around every day in both the hotel and restaurant and asked how everything was and what they could do better. That shows they really care. Thank you so much. I feel important and appreciated as a customer. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Best Best Western we’ve ever stayed at! The beds were very comfortable with about a dozen pillows. Everything was top notch and the night receptionist was super friendly and helpful - can’t wait to come back when we visit family in the area next time. Thanks!

We booked a stay in the fireplace/jacuzzi suite to celebrate my husband's birthday. We checked in shortly after 4pm. Upon entering our room, I immediately noticed the tub was covered in a film of oil & definitely had not been cleaned. I called the front desk immediately, and she said all the other whirlpool suites were booked & she asked if we'd like someone to come clean it. I replied "yes" to which she said "okay, I'll see if someone is still here to come clean it". Well, we waited about 30 minutes & no one came. So, we decided to go out for a bit (around 5pm) in hopes that when we returned it would be cleaned & able to enjoy. Before we went out, we stopped at the front desk, and I told her it had yet to be cleaned. She told me someone should have already been up there & she asked if we were out...we replied no, we've been waiting in the room & now we're going out. She said she'd get someone up there right away. We left, came back about 4 hours later (around 9pm). Still the tub was not cleaned. I tried to call the front desk - no answer. So, we left. It wasn't just the tub - The mirrors were dirty, the microwave, the fridge. I have many pictures. I emailed the hotel & never heard back.

The first thing I noticed was how clean the room was. It was clean and even smelled fresh. When the fan was off (Auto) you could hear people in next room. Couldn't understand words but you could tell they were on the phone. I just turned the fan on constant at night and slept soundly. Staff was kind and accommodating. I was only here for business for 2 nights. The breakfast was good too. Didn't like the location much (limited food options) but that's not the Hotel's fault. The restaurant here was good. Expensive for me though.

We stayed one night here at the end of a two week stay in the state. It was in a nice town and convenient for returning to MSP airport. We were quite happy with the well-equipped room as well as the service. The shower was roomy, had shelves for your supplies, and was enclosed with a door, which was so much better than having a curtain that has water escape and fall on the floor. The breakfast was great, with lots of variety. Some little kids had left some mess behind, but that’s more of a reflection on their parents than on the hotel! One of the most impressive things was that the owner of the hotel, Bill, actually greeted us while we were at breakfast and asked us about our stay. Usually you never even see the owner of one of these establishments. We would definitely stay here if we were in the area again and highly recommend it.

When decorating for our wedding we were told event center would be locked. Somehow parts of our wedding decor were stolen due to the fact it was not locked. They told us after things were stolen that the room is not locked due to it being an exit for all guests. When we expressed our upset they said we will give you $50 and let you know if we hear anything else. The email we received emphasized how the point of our wedding day was not that things were stolen mind you on their account but in fact our wedding day was about our love and memories and gathering of loved ones seemingly downplaying the fact that we had items stolen while we placed our trust in them. They also made it a point to state "this has never happened before". When deciding to host a reception at a venue we put our trust in what we were told. Yes our wedding was a magical day and special to us HOWEVER we still had items stolen after we placed them in their care.

The rooms was ok, clean and functional. The kids were excited about the pool area, HOWEVER, the bar is by the pool and if you have a courtyard facing room it is very loud until well after midnight. Lots of young people partying. Walls are very thin and there were people talking loudly in the hallway and slamming doors well after midnight. Very disappointed because I was looking for a good nights sleep. One of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful stay.

What a hidden gem. Bar and restaurant are both excellent—and both filled with locals. Seriously, I show up on a Monday at 4 pm and there are only two spots left at the bar, and everyone is local? That says something. Walkable to the cute and inviting downtown White Bear Lake, walkable to the lake itself and two nice parks/boat landings/beaches, quick access from the interstate. E-bike charger available at a bike rack. Would love to see an EV charger there as well, that would draw in a lot of customers!

Our original room we were suppose to go into was VERY SMOKEY!!! Asked for new room. Day or check out: we were loading our car at 10am. Came back in to get the rest of our stuff to find our room door open and house keeping started to clean room. We haven’t even checked out yet. Staff was friendly and apologized. When checked out staff didn’t ask what room either. We had room directly across from breakfast. So noisy area.

We had the pleasure of staying at The White Bear Country Inn for five nights over Christmas. We were totally satisfied with Inn and its services. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent each morning. Also the Inn had delightful Christmas decorations in the lobby. Each day there were big bowls of fresh apples and oranges on a table in the lobby. I highly recommend this Inn.

Beautiful hotel & grounds. Comfortable & updated accommodations with all the extras. Exceptional free breakfast, 24-hour hot beverage bar and delicious meals & drinks served at Rudy’s!

This is my second time staying here and it was just as enjoyable as I remember. The breakfast was a great variety each morning, the rooms were so well kept and the owner is amazing. We saw him working with his staff every day of our trip and it went to show how much care goes into making sure the people who are staying here have an enjoyable time. 10 out of 10 will be staying here again on my next trip.

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. The times before were good. This time the hotel was wild and quite the party atmosphere. It was so loud outside our rooms until after midnight. Definitely do not stay on the ground floor if you are wanting to sleep at any point. The other room we had on the second floor wasn’t much better. We understand people having a good time but this was outrageous. When management was asked about it, he politely replied there wasn’t anything that could be done and the bar stayed open until 2AM. This will be our last stay at this facility.

We were in town for some concrete pump training and stayed at this facility. Nicest Best Western I have ever stayed. The owner would personally greet us at dinner to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The restaurant bar inside the hotel was lively and had incredible food. Try the prime rib it was delicious! We had a large group and our server, who I believe was Eddie, was very attentive and kept the drinks flowing. This is why I can't remember his name for sure! Great stay

Great experience here. The breakfast selections were fantastic and we loved getting 3 papers every morning. If you like to walk, this hotel has great access to the lake which is only about 3 blocks away. The restaurant was great and very accommodating to our large group. I would stay here again in a heart beat. The owner talked to my husband on several occasions as we were there 4 nights. The only suggestions I would make would be to add more towel racks for drying the towels, add a shower stool, and move the smoking area away from the front door.

Fantastic value, breakfast included. Staff were courteous and kind. Room was well appointed with surprisingly modern bathroom (fully tiled shower). Good quality TV and everything was quite clean. Rooftop restaurant/bar was cheerful spot to hang out. Highly recommend.

Comfortable beds. Room spacious and clean. We had a family suite. Windows looked out to the pool, so we could check on our older children swimming. We came an hour earlier from check in and the nice lady at front desk let us check in early and also let us do a late check out for 12. Food was really good. 2 happy hrs And oysters were really good, fresh. Everyone was very nice. Shower was unbelievably awesome. Great water pressure. Our only regret was a few rain showers so we didnt get to spent time on the rooftop deck bar. But the inside bar and restaurant was great so it was nice we had that option. I will definitely be going here again. I would recommend this place for both adult getaway, and family or friend getaways. Area is beautiful .

After check in with the nice lady I notice a wet floor sign. The carpet was bunched up on the way to my room. Not sure how the carpet got soaked but it did. When I arrived to my hotel suite with hot tub I noticed how dated everything looked. The couch did not look inviting and I was kinda scared to sit on it. The fireplace pilot light was lit ALL the time which had me confused considering it was 95 degrees outside that day. The hot tub was nice and big but the wall timer is broke so just press the flat button on the hot tub. They gave me a room near the exit and stairs which I did not appreciate. Non stop noise all night and day. The TV remote was not very good and it was hard to change channels unless I had the right angle. They have Direct TV by the way. Coming back from visiting the lake nearby I noticed a TON of bugs in the entry way attracted to the lights. Some of the bugs even got in my room! Get a bug zapper or do something about those lake bugs. No real good patio here unless you visit the restaurant which had their patio closed due to hot weather. Not sure how hot weather can close a patio when much more hotter places stay open all the time. Finally I drifted off to sleep and woke up a 5 hours later. The bed is horrible and the pillows are cheap hard as a rock pillows. They need new beds and pillows and I am not very picky but common man! Woke up in the morning after bad night of sleep and just left. Did not bother even checking out. The lake is nearby and I would think a luxury hotel would setup shop here but instead you have a run down motel that has outlived it's glory days. Want to relive the bad part of the 90's? This hotel is perfect!

From the very owner of this great hotel all the down through the entire staff, everyone was friendly and very helpful. The rooms are well taken care of and this place has a lot to offer! Highly recommend staying here! I can not say it enough but the owner here is a great leader for his crew he will do everything he can to make sure you and your family are taken care of!

We chose to book a block of rooms at the Best Western for our wedding and couldn’t be happier with our choice. It was very close to our venue and the shuttle service was easy to secure for our guests to utilize at the end of the night. The rooftop bar at Rudy’s was a great place to enjoy a few more drinks after we closed at our venue. The breakfast spread was wonderful with plenty of options for everyone and a nice environment around the pool. The bridesmaids rented the bridal suite which was well appointed and convenient. The bridal suite was a little smaller than anticipated, but it worked well for what they needed. Overall we (and our guests) had a great experience!

Not a place where I would stay again. The hallway had a musty odor to it. As soon as I opened the door to my room it had a strong musty odor (more potent than the hallway). I opened the windows immediately and left for a while so it can air out. There was a couple of toys under the bed so which means the room wasn't cleaned thoroughly. They allow pets (was not aware of) and had a dog barking in one of the rooms and nobody said or did anything. Had a restaurant that took up a lot of parking spaces (which were hard to find).

  • 4/5 thomas f. 2 years ago on Google
Good hotel. Room kinda had a musty smell but a/c worked great. They could have a little more options for breakfast. At least make some bacon lol. But all in all. Good place to stay. Sure if you had kids they would love it !

The in-house restaurant is AMAZING! Breakfast was on point with tons of options. The rooms and linens are clean and plentiful. The staff was all friendly and accommodating. Bring extra cash for tipping and Rudy's!!! Best, BEST hotel stay all year, so far. Parking is hit or miss. There's lots of it because there has to be.

You could actually see the dirt line on the hot tub & pool. The pool itself looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in over 10 years. Above the bar on the wall is absolutely dirty. The room was very dated, found lots of hair no one bothered to clean. Very loud at times with doors slamming near the pool area. The breakfast was anything but desirable.

  • 3/5 Marc D. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms were clean and ready when I checked in. A+ to the cleaning staff. The complimentary breakfast was just ok. Only one coffee machine and really bad eggs. The front desk staff was a total failure. No one was at the desk for a 4:30 pm check in. The note says to call using a phone on the counter but no one answered. Same issue at my checkout at 7:45am. This is completely unacceptable to not staff the front desk. What a shame, the rest of the hotel was not bad but I will not be back because of this.

Due to a restaurant being right in the hotel, parking was very limited to the hotel guests. Pool area was Beautiful but not very private with restaurant tables in same area so there was no privacy. Restaurant did offer room service, for an added 18% charge. Food was pricey but it was good.

Great establishment to stay. The owner is always present for his team and guests. He is always making sure his guests are accommodated and comfortable, he goes above and beyond and really cares about his business, guests, and team. I stayed here for two weeks and every night was great! Would highly recommend.

Loved the service when I checked in. The guy was so nice and cool. Showed me the easiest place to park with the fastest access to my room. Later on, I went and got a few things, just very helpful. Got a king-size bed by myself, and the bed was actually very comfortable. The room wasn't the greatest, but it was okay. The one thing I disliked was that I could hear the people next door clear as day and across the hall, and they weren't even being loud. Thought it was kind of weird. No privacy.

The rooms were very clean, cute and comfortable. We loved hanging out at the rooftop bar and pool! Really great drinks and views of the skyline. Will definitely stay here again!!

I did not stay at this hotel. However, I did visit for a friend's wedding in the back event hall. The space was clean and comfortable. The bar service was fantastic, and the drinks were great. The dinner was good, too! Parking was a little interesting, but this was expected for a weekend, wedding night. The hotel was clean, and the bathrooms were sanitary, too. There's a great and popular restaurant and a pool, too!

  • 3/5 Mikedjunk 1 year ago on Google
As a person who books hundreds of hotels a year I would say they should be charging more like $90 a night. As far as the hotel goes cleanliness is an issue. The bathroom was not very clean and the sink did not drain which is pretty gross when you're trying to brush your teeth. If they lowered their rates it would be more in line with their quality

  • 5/5 Amy Bolen M. 1 year ago on Google
We reserved a family suite to have family come to celebrate our daughter's 3rd birthday. When we went to check in we were told the room wasn't ready due to staffing. We explained we were expecting people for a get together. The front desk offered to let our party sit near the pool and set up there while the kids swam and our room was ready. I know this wasn't ideal for the hotel but they made up for it. It really helped our party for the better.

Exceptionally clean and cozy, my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at Thai location! The atrium is gorgeous with a beautiful pool area & plenty of tables for folks to gather around and visit. The continental breakfast was also the best I have EVER had! And speaking of dining, Rudi’s was absolutely splendid and the vibes were immaculate. Bravo to the staff at this location - y’all deserve some serious raises!
