One of the best meals I've had in years - the menu is terrific from top to bottom. Highly recommend the Smoked Tri-Tip as it was incredible. We ordered multiple courses and can't wait to go back real soon and try the rest!

I'm so glad this place was revived, how incredible! All the dishes we had were beautiful and delicious. Cornbread with the miso butter is a home run. And the long rib is melt in your mouth. The blue Crab beignets were as airy as cloud 9. The lettuces: such a simple concept elevated with the smoked sunflower seeds and goat cheese. Highly recommend this place!! Definitely adds up quick but well worth it.

Make sure to add the 22% charge added to your bill. This doesn't include gratuity Service was good but the food was very underwhelming. For the prices we paid for the food, we had higher expectations, especially from other reviews. The wood grilled snapper ($33) was bathed in a sour sauce, possibly far too much Worcestershire sauce. The slice of snapper was the size of the palm of your hand. The snapper was well cooked but overall, the wood grilled snapper only reminded us of it being sour. That's the only thing we can remember from that dish. If you're expecting a nice sized fillet snapper, it is not here but if you're careful of your diet, this snapper dish will do. The charcuterie board ($36) wasn't bad. It may look underwhelming in terms of quantity but you are given a decent amount of bread, you may get filled quite quickly. This is more than enough for 2 people but definitely not enough for a group of 4+. The foot long ($16) is a fancy hot dog. I was expecting a girthier 'sausage'. If you're coming here expecting a girthy foot long, it's not here. There is far more bread than there is meat. This is the fanciest looking hot dog I have ever eaten. The foot long was underwhelming. All I remember was the amount of bread there was. Bread to meat ratio was far too high. The blue crab beignets ($17) didn't have any or little to no blue crab in the ones we had. It was good but FAR too much bread. We basically ate donut holes. Again, underwhelming and only remembered it because of the remoulade sauce that accompanied it. Again, service was good. Bathrooms were clean. The aesthetics of the restaurant was nice. The food we got was just unfortunately underwhelming and not memorably good. Parking. You can park at the public parking lot, just 1 block away, a very close walk. Or, they have complimentary valet. We did not do this, we parked at the parking lot.

Loved the location, ambience, complimentary valet and the welcoming atmosphere (coat check upon entry with nice decor and smoky scent in the air). However, for the price point - it warranted better food. We ordered a sausage platter (good), wood fire oysters (ok), lamb shoulder (too salty) and some sides. The cornbread and sweet potatoes sides I thought were over cooked. The 24K cocktail, Brussels sprouts and the banana foster dessert were the highlights for me (all 3 unique). I like the original butcher and the boar a little better (used to live right by it and I was told the original ownership sold the restaurant/brand to a new group). Good to try out once and check out if you’re in the area, but not sure I’d come back for the food.

Stellar! We enjoyed the cozy booths by the bar. The food was absolutely amazing. We’ll have to back for the beef long ribs as they had ran out about half hour before we got there. Their house red was great too!

Went there for a company celebration. Private room with a family style pre selected menu. We had apps coming before our drinks. Food was amazing and the best meat coma ever!! Oh yeah, old school toilet with elevated tank and pull chain. Classic!!

I went here in March, and my experience wasn't all that. I didn't even write a review as I was too short of words. However, a work end of the year celebration brought me here again. I was pleasantly surprised at the interior and the changes that have been made at first. Our host was great and did an excellent service, answering our questions patiently and very, very awesome. Then the food, OMG, the best thing I ate. From the steak tartare to the oysters, the sourdough bread and the cheese dip for appetizers were all amazing. Then the main dish 😍😍 I had the 20oz ribeye and loved it. Cooked to perfection. So were the accompanying sides of carrots, chives mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and the beef Mac and cheese. All in all, I am so happy that I didn't turn down the invite when I heard the name of the restaurant and I came with an open mind.

It was our first time here and Ian is a fabulous service professional. From the moment we sat down, he took care of everything. Our meal was so yummy. Then he surprised us with non alcoholic beverages to try…delicious. My daughter and I spontaneously went to this restaurant on the way home from the airport and I am so glad we did. Our night out was perfect. 🤩

Food is just didn’t compare to the previous spot. Especially the sausages. Ours seemed boiled and had watered down flavor. Barely any char or crisp to the skin. Also the texture of the stuffing on 3 of the 4 were just off. Picture attached of the old spot vs new. Just look at the color difference! Long rib was good and so was the lamb. Charred carrots and mash were also just ok. Willing to come back and give it another shot as we just loved the old butcher and the boar.

This restaurant was amazing, we had the date night and the servers were outstanding as well as the food. We were told about the CHAR BAR which we didn't know about, but we went after dinner and our bar tender Shelby was so nice and the vibe was perfect! Would highly recommend the speakeasy (char bar) after an already great night at Butcher.

We sat in the Char Bar part of the restaurant up at the bar, but ordered food from the full food menu from Butcher and the Boar. The crab beignets were fantastic. We enjoyed the beef tartare although the sauce overwhelmed the beef flavor a bit, although it was flavorful. We ordered the New York strip medium rare, and it was properly prepare and had great flavor. The steak was served with a succotash side. The carrots side were phenomenal, possibly our favorite. We were not a fan of the Brussels sprouts unfortunately- they tasted fine but were way over salted. Cocktails in the char bar were good. Everything was a bit overpriced but good, and service was good.

I give them three starts because of their service. Our waiter was very unprofessional. He was setting up the table incorrectly for different courses. Like he didn't know the correct way to set the silverware up. The food was good. The portions were big. My favorite dessert was PEAR CRISP. The bartender was very knowledgeable and recommended great drinks. Highly recommend the bar area!!

A Must Try, Then You're Hooked. The Butcher And The Boar is always great for any occasion. Recently came to celebrate a birthday and Wow!!!! Everyone was blown away with how good the food was. Most got the beef rib and snapper both far exceeding expectations which were already pretty high. Staff was also extremely friendly per the usual. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The food and atmosphere were fantastic. The long rib and Brussels sprouts were our favorite. Serving sizes were notably smaller than the original location, especially the long rib. The waiter also apologized multiple times for the food/drink delay as it was the opening night but there wasn’t much excitement about it actually being the opening night.

We have a pretty big crush on Butcher & The Boar as we’ve now been to 3 of their locations including Charleston, SC! The full menu at their current place in Mpls looks amazing, and their new brunch menu did not disappoint. Great Bloody’s too!

Loved this place will be back soon! Good, solid old fashion, just not there for the value. Food was amazing though! Can't wait to try other food items on the menu! Make sure to get the beef rib!

Best steak in town, amazing servers who give excellent recommendations. This place blows Manny’s or Murry’s or Burch and Seven out of the competition. They also have one of the most remarkable ”old fashion” in the twin cities. The menu is recently updated, and it's gotten even better. 10/1/2019 update. I came back here with a few friends today. And the food and the service was exceptionally good. Different server, who again gave excellent recommendations. Sea bass was out of this world.

Overall a good experience. Quite possibly the best ribeye we have ever had. The cognac cream sauce would have been good on anything! Green chorizo sausage was very flavorful. Didn't care for the sauce on the Mac and cheese; a gluey consistency. Liked the creative cocktails. There is a 22% service charge. Up front they give you a card describing what it's for. No requirement for gratuity on top of that.

Beef long rib was amazing and enough for 2 people. Double cut pork chop was great as well. We loved the charred carrot & sweet potato side dishes. The cocktails were also top notch! 👌

We had a disappointing meal sitting at the front bar of Butcher and the Boar. While the space is attractive in a steak house mode, the food was not good. That’s surprising, because the folks that run the Butcher and the Boar also manage Parlour and Borough, two great spots in the North Loop. The kitchen at Butcher and the Boar needs an overhaul. Service at the bar was excellent, the pleasant woman took great care of us. Perhaps the music was a tad loud, but the choice of tunes was fantastic. All superlatives end there. Our wedge salads were bland, the dressing had no identity. Our burger was greasy, tasteless, and large for no reason. Who wants to eat a big piece of meat with no flavor? We asked for the fries extra crispy. They weren’t, and also tasted bland. Hey, grab the person who manages Parlour and place them at Butcher and the Boar. Prices were very expensive. The building is situated off of Washington and doesn’t get much “walk by” traffic. If the new Butcher and the Boar is going to make it, the food has to be great. At this juncture, it’s a sad place to visit.

If you find yourself in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis looking for the next hot spot, the rebirth of Butch and the Boar is your next landing spot! Michael the bar manager has it dialed in with a great drink selection including a FOR REAL non alcoholic drink list. The wait staff is amazing and attentive. THE FOOD is fantastic as long as you are OK with meat. And who’s not right??!?!

So butcher and the boar lost a star but could have lost more from me because our first impression was that the very nice large parking lot cost $10 to park. I think it’s disgusting to charge your own customers to pay for parking. So we drove around until we found a street parking spot which cost us 1.75. However, the environment and food were so amazing I gave them back a star. The food and vibe were so nice, it changed my initial opinion of never coming back. I will never park in their lot though and it takes a little bit of the love I feel for this place away.

This place has some really delicious food and great staff! We came for a small corporate celebration and had a reservation for the little table they have in a nook off the bar. The table wasn't ready when we arrived and we had to wait 20 minutes in a VERY crowded entry/bar area. Once we were seated it was hard to hear the waitress over each other because the place was so packed and SO LOUD and we all went hoarse talking over the noise, but that's kinda to be expected in a popular restaurant on a Saturday night. The sausage sampler is an awesome appetizer to share for a group. We also loved the shrimp mac & cheese. We ordered pretty much every appetizer actually but the others weren't anything to write home about. My husband ordered the long rib and it was super tender and flavorful but for the price he didn't think it was amazing. He said it was pretty fatty actually. I had the scallops and LOVED them! The pork chop, Waygu steak and duck were also big hits at the table. All in all we enjoyed it, but I think we enjoyed it more because it was on the company dime. If we had paid for it I might not have liked the food and experience quite as well.

Great ambiance. Excellent service. Decent local craft beer menu. The quality of meat here is off the charts. We felt that our side dish and some of the garnishes fell a little short (especially the shrimp mac and cheese.) Overall, it was a great experience.

Gorgeous ambiance, great food and amazing service! So glad Butcher and the Boar is back. All the dishes we phenomenal and love that they explained the service charge. They are opening a more casual space that I am excited about. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Delicious food and excellent service We wanted to avoid the crowd on valentines night so we came on Sunday after Valentine’s Day, at first we didn’t get a server for at least 20 minutes however after we asked they immediately acknowledged us and they took our order right away. The food was delicious, Everything came out fast Apprizers were delicious, i got the NY steak and wow! Tender, juicy, perfectly medium Our server went above and beyond to make sure that the rest of our night was perfect and it was! Forgot her name but I do remember she’s from Brazil shout out to her!

Amazing Food, Easily the best experience for any foodie or date night. Every aspect of this place is intentional and feels so comfortable. Huge selection of premium wine and spirits from many countries/state. The food is worth its price, definitely try this place.

We had a fabulous brunch. The crab toast was delicious, and husband loved his shrimp and grits. We only visit Minneapolis about once a year, but we will absolutely be back here.

Cool spot. Food was tasty. Drinks were not the best especially given the price. Service was extremely slow especially for an 8:30 PM reservation but can be an expected growing pain with a new place like this. We were recommended the sweet potatoes as a side. However, we never received our sweet potatoes and they still charged us for them. Took 20 minutes or so to flag down our waitress to have them removed. Overall, decent but expect to dish out some $$$$$.

This was worth making the reservation. This place would be perfect for a date night. The sides are shareable so you don't need to go overboard with buying one of everything. It was a little pricey for me but you get your money's worth with the amount of food and the flavors. The waiter was extremely friendly and witty and made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Wow, what a treat Butcher & The Boar was! Everything was damn near perfect - the atmosphere was trendy, inviting, and comfortable. The whiskey selection was overwhelming, and I mean that in the best possible way. Take note that the prices are a bit on the high side, but rarity usually comes at a price. Also worth mentioning that the cocktails and beer selection are equally as impressive. The Banana Bread Old Fashioned is a MUST! Now, let's get to the food! My wife and I decided to split the smoked beef long rib and it was more than enough food for us. The exterior was perfectly charred, while the interior was mostly juicy and incredibly tender. The seasoning was a great blend of spicy and sweet. We finished up with the S'mores, and the presentation gets a 12 out of 10 - just look at the photo! Almost too pretty to eat, but I'm glad we finally dug in and all desserts from here out might be pale by comparison. Decadent without being too rich! The food, much like the whiskey is a bit spendy - but you get what you pay for, the quality is tops! Lastly, everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Our server, Mike I believe, was great and attentive. He gave honest advice when asked about menu items and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation, you won't be disappointed!

We went on Friday night for my mom’s birthday and were seated in a bar booth. The atmosphere is nice but every time the door opened from outside you could feel the cold air. Also our waitress was not friendly or attentive at all, which made the experience a lot less pleasant. We weren’t even able to tell her we were celebrating a bday because of how unfriendly she was. She basically walked up and showed us the restaurant week menu and said that either everyone should order from there or not at all because it doesn’t work well with timing and then left. She took our order and we didn’t see her for another 40-50 minutes which is how long our food took. She then never once asked us how the food was. The food was pretty good but the overall experience with the waitress I think made everything else worse. We had to flag her down for the bill because she continuously walked past us(not busy either as she would go behind the bar a lot and just wash one or two glasses and then look around for something to do) and didn’t say anything and when she did bring the bill she just said have a good evening in a very quiet voice and walked away. Side note- the valet guy and the hosts were super nice!

Where to even begin.... not just the quantity of food you get (which is ridiculous), but the quality is amazing. Honestly, in the top 5 meals I have ever had anywhere! Get the sausage sampler, you will not regret it. Truly, you cannot go wrong here, just be prepared to pay for it! Certainly not a place to eat at frequently only because of the price.

  • 5/5 Drew S. 4 years ago on Google
Great experience as always. Friendly knowledgabke bar staff that gave us just the right amount of attention without being overwhelmed. Every cocktail was crafted perfectly and tasted delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend the Banana old fashioned and the pumpkin sour! You also can't miss with any of the meat dishes. We had a delicious bone marrow appetizer as well as steak tar tar. Both were perfectly prepared and tasted incredible.
