Our first time visiting Savannah, and this was our first stop per recommendation. Unfortunately we waited until two days before our trip to make reservations, so they didn’t have any available. Needless to say, we arrived right when they opened at 5pm and had no issue whatsoever being seated immediately . The staff is warm and welcoming from the minute you walk in, and our server Zack was an absolute joy. He was kind, friendly, attentive and even recommended some great spots in the area to check out. There was live jazz playing in the corner of the room which was a really sweet addition to our night out. I didn’t snap a pic of the crab cakes we started off with but they were really great ! The shrimp scampi was the star of the show tonight. Very well seasoned, bursting with flavor from garlic and fresh basil and the shrimp was fresh. Our steak was cooked to perfection and paired well with their house mashed potatoes. If I could rate this spot a 10 star I would. We will absolutely be returning !

This is a beautiful old brick building with a lot of history. The food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic! We enjoyed the musings of the piano man and I loved looking at all of the different brick work around the dining rooms. I would have loved to see the rooms at the inn upstairs! The second photo is of me in front of the 1790. Check out the window above me, is it a guest or ghost?

The atmosphere was old and dark, just like 1790, but that made it that much more quaint. The piano player was a nice touch and even honored requests! Everything about the food was top notch. It's a solid 5 star restaurant with exquisite cuisine prepared by a world class chef, from the buttered biscuit to the vanilla pudding and the lamb shank in between. Menu choices were extensive and featured entrees prepared in a way unique to this establishment. Scarlet, our server, did a great job assisting us with our choices and ensured our dining experience was the best it could be.

Delicious meal with dinner tourists looking for a place that was "signature" Savannah. Staff suggested drinks and the meat eaters were very complimentary. I had salmon--outstanding. I was celebrating an upcoming birthday the next day. My new friends ordered a treat for me, and others chimed in a hair birthday chorus. A+ evening

One of Savannah’s top rated paranormal inn. We stayed in the guest house, in room 306! What a wonderful paranormal experience!!!! No equipment needed! We stayed for a long weekend in the historic district and had some great ghost encounters. We had the best time for moms weekend getaway. From the cemetery to River walk, they are walking distance to everywhere you want to go!

Wednesday night was a blasted!!! We went there to Celebrate my friend's birthday. She loved it!!! We sang songs with one or there regular customers that played the piano. Food was excellent. Our waiter Patrick (Parker) was all the way 5 🌟. Best believe we will be back again for more fun with them. Thank you all for the best experience we had in a long time.

We stayed here this past Sunday and Monday nights and had dinner here Monday evening as well. Our trip was for myself and my wife as well as a friend of ours. The staff was unbelievably kind and accommodating during our stay, especially when our friend’s room had an air conditioning issue. He did have to change rooms, but that was no big deal (he was sensing that there may have been a little something there that would rather have it’s privacy in that room anyway). We chose the 17Hundred90 Inn because of its history of being haunted (that’s kind of our thing) and we were not disappointed! Nothing too scary or threatening, but definitely some pretty cool happenings while we were there! Our rooms were clean spacious, and very comfortable. As for dinner….all I can say is WOW!!! Our other thing when we travel is eating well. Of all our brunches, lunches, and dinners, this was the best, most well prepared food of the entire trip. Best Oysters Rockefeller I’ve ever had…and the special appetizer of the day was Beef Wellington, which our Australian friend who lived in England for years said was the best of his life. I also tried their house pineapple upside down martini. I had to get a second one to make sure I was right about how good it was! In short, so yourself a favor and book your stay here and make reservations at least once in the restaurant. You will not be disappointed!!!

I celebrated a recent work promotion here with my wife. The exterior was attractive and classic Savannah in decor and greenery. The interior had several different rooms and we had a drink at the bar while waiting for dinner service. The inside decor was warm and intimate with dark brick and small chandeliers, reminding me of basement restaurants in Europe. The mojitos we ordered at the bar were quite sour and a bit weak, but pleasant for a hot afternoon. All the servers here were very friendly, attentive, and well versed in the menu. All food here was quite rich and filling with large portions. We had stuffed mushrooms with crab appetizer and the escargo appetizer. The stuffed mushrooms were good but the escargot on puff pastry were amazing. The crisp pastry formed a bowl for a large amount of snails, mushrooms, spinach, and cream sauce. It was very flavorful without overpowering the snails which had a delightful texture and slightly earthy taste. A fantastic appetizer for two. We were intially given a honey biscuit each, which was very nice. My wife had the pecan crusted flounder with collards and grit cake. A huge portion of flouder (entire fish) with a perfect crispy crust. I had the house special of the day of linguine pasta with veal cheek, lamb shank, mushroom, and broccolini on the side. Incredibly rich and hearty, with perfect flavoring and perfectly cooked. I had an Al Capone cocktail (very boozy) while my wife had rose' sangria. We were very impressed with our drinks, aside from the mojitos. Perfect attentive service and delicious food. Great for a special intimate occasion, as our bill exceeded $150 for two. But that was one appetizer and two cocktails apiece. Lovely experience with no disappointment concerning the food, flavor, preparation, or service.

While my friend & I were vacationing in Savannah, we met up w a friend who was local. She took us here for drinks & we decided to stay for dinner. The service was 1st rate, friendly & quick. He even took our dinner order before the kitchen opened to get it in 1st. I had the strip steak which was cooked to perfection (I like my steak rare). We also had the sangria which was SO yummy & refreshing! A wonderful "old Savannah" dinning pleasure!!

We stayed in one of the guest houses, had a cocktail before dinner at the bar multiple nights and ate at the restaurant on Friday evening. The restaurant was very enjoyable; the food, setting and the live pianist. The bar has a very interesting mix of people: groups coming in from ghost tours, regulars, and others in their Sunday best waiting for the dinner reservations. It was fun to watch people and not too loud to enjoy reading a book or conversation. The guest house was charmingly antique if a little worse for wear. We slept well there and were comfortable. The wifi and the cable did not work, but who cares, the location was so close to so many things to do we were never bored. If we find ourselves in Savannah again we will most definitely consider repeating our stay here.

This restaurant has a very unique setting. In the basement exposed brick and beams. A little more upscale. There was a live piano player. Our waiter was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. We all enjoyed our dinners, cocktails and dessert. Our food was cooked and brought out in a very timely manner. Although I wouldn't say Our favorite restaurant we have ate at but it was very good.

Neat historical location. Came with Girl Scouts to attend a etiquette dinner. The scouts enjoyed dining and learning with Ms. Janice. She made lovely little name cards for the girls. Biscuits are covered in honey butter deliciousness! Food was great. We portions were small, but delicious

Highly recommend! Great restaurant overall. Food was outstanding; the appetizer, main plates, through dessert. The wine selection was quite good as well and complemented the dinner. Best of all was great service! Seems so common now when servers drop a plate on your table and just walk away, never seen again. At this restaurant, the service was outstanding! We were never rushed! The server actually let us finish a cocktail with bread, before the appetizer was brought out. Plates were brought out only after a course was finished, table was cleared when we both finished a course, and the staff was familiar with the wine! Bizarre looking place from the outside. However, inside has a decent vibe. A little darker atmosphere, probably to enchant you and the ghosts. A talented piano player accompanies the experience.

Great atmosphere. Service was outstanding. Katie was our server. She was delightful. The escargot was quite good, but I’d never had it served with tomatoes…different, but not better. Flounder was a bit dry, and bland, but a generous serving. The dining room is relatively small, especially for the volume level of the otherwise pleasant live piano music. Even following a generous tip delivered by our waitress to the player, he seemed unable, or unwilling, to tone it down a little. That alone will likely prevent our returning.

Beware!! I would not stay here under any circumstances! This past weekend my family was there for 2 nights and it was terrible. Everything felt old, musty, and dirty. I could never get comfortable. To make matters worse, as we checked out, I realized I left my new dress hanging in the bathroom. We called back two hours later and the staff said it wasn't there. Flat out lie because I know for a fact it was there, earlier I cut myself and bled on the dress so I washed it and had it hanging to dry. Clearly someone on the staff stole it. So sad and disappointing. Savannah is a beautiful place, don't spoil it by staying here.

I enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The food was good. The atmosphere was good. I felt just a little bit like they were hurrying me through dinner. Like they wanted my table. I travel and dine alone a lot and usually try to eat at the bar of a restaurant instead of taking up an entire table. But this place didn't allow eating at the bar so I was seated at a small table. I like to relax with a drink before ordering dinner but the waitress very obviously did not want me to do that. Other than that I really enjoyed this place. I'd recommend it.

The staff at this inn were so friendly and the room was very comfortable. Staff gave us a personalized tour and shared ghost stories associated with the inn. We were also treated to a couple of free drinks at the bar and enjoyed mingling with the locals. The Inn is located in historic downtown and walking distance to everything! We were even given free parking for the length of our stay. (Guests need to be aware that most rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors therefore be prepared to navigate stairs.) We will definitely be back!

We just went to the restaurant and it was incredible!!! Zack, our waiter, was attentive and informative. He went over the menu and specials and even asked the chefs if foods were allergen friendly for me. He was delightful! Sierra (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) made sure we felt special for our visit and was just beyond kind. The food was amazing and I truly cannot recommend this place enough! From the biscuits with honey, our two seafood entrees, and the key lime pie, my husband and I were overjoyed with the food and service we experienced. Thank you for making our first trip to Savannah even more memorable!

We are in town visiting my SCAD student son for his 20th birthday. I called and made a reservation for dinner at 1790 restaurant . My husband and son both ordered the special -grilled elk steak with mashed potatoes. Compliments to the chef because they both are still raving about it today. I had the short ribs on a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was spot on. Huge portion sizes Our waiter was Parker. He was amazing! Thank you to Parker for making it a very memorable birthday dinner. We will definitely be back.

We made a reservation for dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the live piano was lovely. The starter biscuit is SO GOOD. The fried green tomatoes were also very good. I got the salmon with crab which was tasty, just a little salty on the crab. Hollandaise said was good, not overpowering. Our server was great.

The place was fantastic, the location is within walking distance of everywhere but it's in a more low-key, quiet area not on a main road so it's nice. Staff is awesome, grumpy is the groundskeeper and he's awesome. For the haunted part of it, I had a really bad sleep paralysis with very tall figures standing at the end of the bed, but that's just sleep paralysis (which is weird because I rarely have it ).

Ate at the restaurant for dinner. Cool atmosphere in the old downstairs brick and wood beam room. Chandeliers hanging and love piano music. Food was good but could easily be better. They have some extra interest with the haunted hotel motif

We stayed at this amazing inn simply due to the history and allure. It did not disappoint. After a couple of nights, we noticed some strange things happening. First, my engagement/wedding rings kept "moving" around the room. Next I'm the middle of the night, my husband felt the blanket tighten like someone tugging on it, happened several times.

My wife and I stayed here for my birthday and we had a truly wonderful time. The rooms were cozy (and kinda spooky), the food and drinks were fantastic, and the staff were exceptionally sweet and helpful. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Savannah.

We had late dinner reservations and were anxious to check out the restaurant because of the reviews. Lots of historic charm and piano player during dinner. Food was delicious. Our only complaint was our server who seemed to treat us as if we were an inconvenience. We saw the waitresses checking on and taking care of the other guests, we rarely saw our server. Ordered dessert and coffee and after 25 minutes waiting for our dessert, we caught one of the waitresses and asked her to check. She said it would be out shortly. Another 10 minutes and nothing. At that point we asked another waitress to let our server know that we were no longer interested in dessert. In the meantime we saw two other couples getting their dessert delivered! At that point our waiter came out and told us not to worry that it was removed from our bill!! Really?? Since we never got it anyway. Spoke with manager and he just said he would talk with waiter. Ruined our experience and management made no attempt to do anything.

We made a dinner reservation and were immensely impressed with the restaurant. The old Inn atmosphere was wonderful. The old fireplace, old exposed wooden beams and posts, and the live piano set for a beautiful evening with my wife. We enjoyed the fresh bread served first. Sweet and fresh. The Caesar salad was crisp, cool, and refreshing. I had the Blackened Shrimp. Overall the dish was good but could have had more seasoning. The risotto and veggies were very good and flavorful. The braised Short Rib was excellent. Rich flavor and tender. A little messy but worth the mess.😁The Asparagus was done just right and the potatoes were good. This was a very enjoyable evening.

We had multiple appetizers and entries. The best dish was the crab soup. Everything else was either bland or overly salted. The salmon was said to be cooked medium but in fact it was well done. For the price I expect more. We were seated in the bar area because the dining room was fully booked. The carpet is old and dirty the restrooms are also not up to par with a higher priced establishment. But the bartender/server was wonderful and friendly.

17Hundred90 is a fun place to stop for a drink or bite to eat! You can even stay overnight as it is also an Inn. The bar is casual and laid back. Good service. We stopped in during a bar crawl and sampled their mint juleps to drink. This place is rumored to be haunted, but that's all part of the fun! It has a great history and lots of stories to tell. It's definitely worth stopping by!

Restaurant has nice date night atmosphere. Live piano is a very nice touch. Service is top notch. Food was very good. The rooms are nice and clean to include the bathrooms. My wife and I might have missed it while booking, but we did not appreciate the surprise of not having a window. We are still glad we chose to stay here and in a way it added to the charm.

The bartender, who I would use her name but she wasn't wearing a name tag (older, heavy set, long dark hair) was unprofessional and rude. I'm not sure if she couldn't keep up with the light crowd she was trying to serve because of her age or if it was because she couldn't be bothered from chatting up the much younger local that was sitting at the bar. We waited over 10 minutes to order 2 Togo draft beers, which we ended up leaving without because even after she took the order continued to fill the half filled drinks of other regulars and coming out from the bar to clean empty tables, before pouring our beers and cashing us out. The atmosphere and history of this historical inn and tavern were awesome but we will not return because of her poor service.

Perfect ambiance, impeccable service and delicious food! I love the variety here mixed in with Southern staples that haven't been disgraced. We have been treated with respect and kindness each visit, and have enjoyed truly upscale experiences. Thank you for having such a relaxing place with professional staff. Highly recommend the escargot, pecan encrusted flounder and shrimp scampi, and salmon oscar.

Service was great. The restaurant is well appointed but rustic, as expected for a 300 year old building. Live piano music was played throughout dinner and was a welcomed treat. The food was exquisite, exactly what you would expect for fine dining. The building is unassuming and doesn't look as grande as some of the other historic places around town, but don't pass by this diamond in the rough. You will not be disappointed.

  • 5/5 Michael R. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent meal experience from start to finish. Food was delicious (I had a Tomahawk steak, wife had pecan crusted fish), the wine selection was great, server was very attentive and offered good insight into the options, and the piano player was offering up a number of well known songs in a jazz style. We'll return here the next time we're in town.

In Savannah for my anniversary trip and got a table at 17Hundred90. Easily some of the best food we’ve had in Savannah. Crab cakes were delicious. Partner enjoyed an amazing Salmon Oscar with risotto, and I tried a special that included pasta, shrimp, mushrooms, and squid ink that was amazing! Generous portions and fairly priced for the quality of food. Dessert was heavenly, the vanilla bread pudding was honestly the best I’ve ever had. Ambiance was lovely, you’re in an old building with low lighting and live piano. Perfect for a date night, or a nice dinner with family. We were lucky enough to be served by Ray. He was so funny, had great recommendations for us, and really took care of us. It was the little details that he focused on that made this experience the best we’ve had in Savannah. Great food, great location, great service. Stop by, it’s a must!
