I am not from the Wichita area but when I do come down for my business trips I always make it a point to come here for lunch! The owners have huge hearts and because of that every employee working here is always insanely happy and accommodating. The toasted chicken salad club is perfectly buttery and toasty with each bite and the chef definitely know how to make a mean green salad! Their cherry limeades are fresh made and so much better than Sonic. Come here for a real cherry limeade!

Always a great meal here. The chicken salad is legendary, but you can’t go wrong with the club sandwich, green chile, or blue plate special. Save room for dessert - anything from the pies to cakes to shakes are amazing!

My boyfriend and I were visiting from NYC, and because this was his first time to Kansas (and actually the Midwest), he was very excited to visit an old school soda shop. Waitstaff is friendly and prompt, our food was delivered very quick, and this has been my boyfriend's favorite restaurant in Wichita. I am vegetarian and was happy to see more vegetarian options on the menu. I ordered the tomato bisque, 1/2 a grilled cheese and a side salad. I found out that all of their dressings are made in house. The soup was hot and fresh and tasted great with the sandwich. My boyfriend ordered the club sandwich and baked beans. We also opted for a chocolate banana malt. The prices were a little high, but the ambiance and experience made up for it. Everything we ordered tasted great and I would come back and visit again before the end of my trip.

I love this place. I used to eat here a lot more when I did more street photography. I may start doing that again. Amazing food. Lovely atmosphere. Honestly, you should stop here if you can. Seriously, eat here lol. I also order the Hot Turkey Pastrami.

The Old Mill Tasty Shop is, and has been a staple of the Wichita community since my earliest memories (like 3 years old). They have wonderful food options, but they are most famous for their malts and desserts. When you get a malt here, they literally give you the metal mixing cup with all the extra inside (great for sharing, or hogging for yourself). If you've never been to the Old Mill Tasty Shop, you are definitely missing out on the true Wichita experience. Give it a go! Great pricing, great food, and awesome malts/shakes! This is one of my top 10 restaurant suggestions for Wichita, Kansas!

First time there and our waiter Nathan was the best! He walked us through favorites and specials. We had the blue plate special Monterrey, the muffaletta sandwich with potato salad, carrot cake and a special cinnamon toast crisp shake. All of it was very good. The restaurant is great to still have the original soda counter and make shakes and malts and ice cream sundaes there. Nathan was great, very helpful, and seemed to know exactly what we would like. This is a Wichita gem.

Had the Muffelata. Decent turkey pastrami sandwich. I like the olive spread. Cinnamon toast crunch shake sounded great but didn't have the space to try it this time.

My first time in Kansas on a business trip and this place was the first place I had food in. Their club sandwiches are to die for and their shakes are heavenly. The place is SO CUTE with an old town charm and the staff are super kind. Will be back!

I need to start making weekly trips to this place. The food is INCREDIBLE every time I go. Thursday is chicken fried chicken and I seriously contemplated licking the plate. It's that good. On top of it, the service is spectacular. The people who work there are always so friendly and nice. They let me have a booth even though I was alone (some places require 2+ people) and the food came out hot and fast! The automatically bring out soda refills and have a cute parking spot picnic area in front that's fun for outdoor eating. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Love Love Love.

Old Mill Tasty has THE BEST Green Chili in the entire area. I mean, it's REALLY GOOD. This is a very busy location and one can see why. The food is good, not just the green chili but everything they serve is just good. It's not a Mexican place, far from it, they have all kinds of different menu choices. Service is cheerful and they do a great job. It's NOT fancy, just an honest typical downtown lunch spot that's been around for years. Don't forget the Soda Fountain. It's got to be a hundred years old and traditional to beat the band.

I have been eating at Old Mill Tasty Shop since I was a little kid back in the 1970's and 1980's. My Dad used to bring me here for Ice Cream Floats and Malts. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is fabulous. The employees are great. I strongly recommend eating at Old Mill Tasty Shop. It's a really cool old place. Keep up the great work. May God bless you always!

The restaurant was clean and has a nice atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick. I was a little irritated that the sever immediately started pushing milk shakes. I understand that I had kids with me but I wanted them thinking about lunch before desserts. The Reuben was okay, the side of potato salad was pretty bland. My daughter had the chicken salad sandwich which was very good and the winning choice out of the group. The club sandwich and ham sandwiches were also described as okay. The price for four meals was acceptable. The 4 stars is for the chicken salad, it is worth a return visit. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying the Old Mill Tasty Shop but I wouldn’t say it is a must try either.

This place was way over hyped. We had nowhere to sit and when we asked if we could sit outside on their patio. They said yes, but they don’t service out there. We had to order “to-go” then go sit out there. My BLT Toast was completely burnt on the insides like they tried to hide it. It ruined the sandwich and the bacon was far too crispy. My husband said his sandwich was only fair. My brother and his wife liked theirs though.

Spent 30 bucks here and left hungry. My daughter got half a grilled cheese and she didn't like it and normally she eats grilled cheese all day every day. Why not an option for a full grilled cheese on the kids menu? Maybe make it edible next time? I even tried it. Bread was very dry and the cheese was like eating plastic. I ordered the Sancho special and it was very salty but at the same time very bland. It gets even better. We asked if we could eat outside and they said they would need to make it a to go order which was confusing and their reason for it was because "there are a lot of homeless people". Apparently they have never been to the grand central market in LA which is a few blocks away from skid row and people are eating outside like nobody's business and homeless people are also minding their own business... The only thing they got right was the banana split which took an additional 20 minutes to make. There were so many people we could barely hear our waiter and waitress. Louder than a Texas restaurant we might know that is actually generous with their portions. Never coming back...
