Yes! 5 star! A very well appointed museum for only $5. I spent about 2 hours here (but I tend to read everything). This is what a local museum should strive to be. BTW you can get a $2 discount by first going to the visitor center, only a couple of blocks away.

Admission is FREE on Sundays from 1-5 pm! This museum is definitely aimed towards adults as the exhibits are mostly read and look. Took us over an hour to look at everything including the garden outside. Neat little museum to visit if you’re bored on a Sunday and are looking for something to do.

Enjoyed ourselves. My kids got to experience using a type writer and a payphone. Afterwards we were able to sit and eat free ice-cream while listening to two violinist play.

Have been to numerous county/city/provincial museums in the west recently and found this one to be a delight. Focused timeframe (mainly 1870-1920), focused area (city and county) and did not look like a hoarder dump. Well organized and great information - learned quite a bit. Less than 2 hours and worth the visit even if you just check out the building exterior.

This is a great, affordable local attraction. I love the 1880s architecture, the original Wichita mayor’s office, the display about the civil rights drug store sit-in, and the turn of the century “cottage” you can walk through! It’s a fantastic way to spend an afternoon…if you haven’t been, plan to spend at least a couple of hours exploring the four floors of exhibit space.

We went to the Art Deco event scheduled this weekend and it was really cool! My partner and I love art deco and the display was beautifully built! The two big things that were difficult was that the building was really hot and humid and there were few if no places to sit on the upper levels. I was surpriaed by how hot it was considering the building is not that old in the grand scheme of things and have been in builds much older that were pretty well regulated.

I wanted to visit this place just because of the building! The museum is housed in the old city and it looks like a castle! The museum doesn’t have tons of hands on displays, but there is still enough hands on that my 7 year old gave it five stars. All three kids loved the old type writer set up so they could use it. There was videos here and there throughout the museum and so much information! The very rare (1 of 8 left) Jones Six automobile was my favorite. There was information about the city over the years, old toys, exquisite silver plated items, old furniture, aviation, and more. We spent three hours and barely saw everything, but were getting too hungry to keep learning. The lady working in the gift shop was super friendly and helped us with other places to see in the area. The only bummer was that they didn’t have a souvenir magnet of the museum in the shop (that’s our thing).

Wichita is an interesting town. At pivotal points in American history, the city lucked out, followed the right course and benefitted. While many of the exhibits sorta come at the history sideways, it still has plenty of things to see related to its late 19th and early to mid 20th century prosperity. Chisholm Trail, oil boom, aviation, etc.

I had a great time here, it's very quirky and unique. Definitely targeted more towards adults, I think children would be bored out of their mind. I learned a lot about Wichita and the surrounding areas. They had a lot of really cool antique items of all kinds. Not sure if I would say it's a must-see museum but it was interesting.

It had been a few years since taking the kiddos here before, so we took advantage of the free admission fir the city's birthday celebration by bringing in a birthday card fir the city of Wichita. We spent a few hours going through the exhibits and learning obout or history. My daughter even found it interesting finding items here that had a link to other museums here in our state which we had visited this summer.

I brought my grandson for spring break and we had a great time! They had several hands-on exhibits to keep young ones entertained, a guided tour, and a craft project that he really enjoyed!! We learned specifically about The Keeper of the Plains and the artist that created it. I recommend this place!!

The highlight of our visit was the 1920s typewriter, which Son found tough to work. We got to send a letter to his grandparents! By the third floor he was weary of "all the words" but I enjoyed the whole museum! Thanks to the Sunflower Summer app for getting us in.
