Great place to fly a kite, drone, or RC. It was super windy when we flew kites ! The available restrooms were clean. Apparently controlled burns keep the insects down. Fun was had by all !

For the price, this place is great. It's 15 a night for electric hookups. The bathrooms are rough though, and sometimes you have to go to a different one to find a stall that's not awful. They're not air conditioned, and I honestly wouldn't recommend showering in them. They also don't have soap to wash your hands. But they do have enough toilet paper, which is good. The sites aren't assigned, and there's so many different loops to camp at. They're really nice and spacious, and the views of the lake are amazing. There's some geese and stray cats, which is also great. You can pay at the bait shop after hours at the kiosk, but the printer is currently messed up. They do have security on site. Verizon cell coverage is only okay.

We wanted to find a campsite, but all of the sites on the pennisula look like people live in their campers with junk thrown everywhere!!!! Would never recommend camping at lake afton. There are Much cleaner lakes to choose from. This "used" to be a really nice lake and camping area, but has gone downhill !!

The bathroom's are a mess. The shade keeps getting cut away and the electrical/water spots are few and far between. They now charge 5.00 per vehicle here and the same price for multiple tents now starting at 11.00 a day. It's not cheap to camp anymore but the view is beautiful and when it's not crowded the peaceful atmosphere is amazing.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay extended or short time. I've experienced nothing but great things from these people here. Excellently run facilities and amenities. Hot water you're round.

The lake is close to the metro area so it’s convenient to travel to. It’s fairly well maintained in terms of being clean, mowed, building upkeep, and road maintenance. The camping and ability to drive up and relax for late evenings is lovely. The observatory is also on lake grounds for an extra bout of fun. Late night experiences are typically alright though you’ll find more questionable crowds the later you stay. The “trails” and nature paths are pretty nice and different than ones in town if you’re looking for a change of views. There is geocaching around there too!

Clean and friendly staff. Camp once a month from April to October with a group. Other activities there as well during each month, reasonable prices and plenty of restrooms, only not open in April. Grocery and propane on site.

I really enjoy visiting this lake. It’s small, but nice. The bathrooms are bit rough, but overall it’s a good place to have fun outside. Plus, it’s just a short drive from the west side of Wichita.

Very nice park. Only issue I had was the gun range right across the lake. Must have been a training session going on as several shots were heard all at once along with someone on a loud speaker giving instructions.

Small lake but its a good place to go if your are just wanting to get out for a day and so swimming or fishing at the lake. Not big enough for many boats, but they did host a car show out there and it was good.

I used to practically live at Lake Afton. I had a 30 Foot Travel Trailer that I just left at this Lake full time. I would go out to the lake every Wednesday evening for a while and then I would go back to the lake every Friday and spend the weekend. It was my home away from home. I have a lot of awesome memories at Lake Afton. I recommend checking out the place. May God bless you always!

I think as long as you get your day parking pass and aren't being super obnoxious, you should be fine. The ranger seemed to be irritable, but I could imagine it being frustrating when noone has their permits. Plenty of different areas near the west swimming part to setup your cooler and chairs.

Been going to this lake for years. Now more so than ever its very well kept up. Grass is mowed and no trash or anything. Fairly small lake, but very scenic and lots of fun.

I have retired and live at lake Afton. Electric hook up is included.this is my second year and as of November 1st my rent as a Sr citizen is going up by $60 per month and rumor has it a new superintendent is coming out to the lake I don't believe the price increase is to provide electrical m so they can charge you for electric I do live on a fixed income and I have a camper with slide outs if I have to pay that kind of price there's places that are about $40 more a month and yet to pay electric as well but I don't have to wear turn my camper from sliding in and out and moving every 14 days from April 1st to November 1st which is a real hassle I don't believe bath houses are kept up lots of dead trees the price was right for me last year living on social security but this year's going to be a different story I'm not happy with the price increase for what you actually get out it will probably cause me to move . As I can get a room mate and rent a 2 bedroom house for what I will be paying for rent starting November 1. I'm disappointed living at lake Afton on a fixed income.thiers also a lot of pit bull owners and some owners allow them to run Free. I wonder if these dog owners have insurance as required by law. I don't believe this is enforced. It seems to be all about the Dollars and not the comfort of the people who actually live here yr round. Sad to say. I thought I could retire comfortably with my camper but I can see that I will be priced out of lake Afton probably by next year.

👍👍 Love this forest preserve. Lots of nice trails, a small lake where you can fish, an overlook, and picnic areas. You will see lots of native prairie plants in the summer. It is a natural habitat, so dogs need to be leashed from late spring through the fall to allow nesting animals a chance to grow up...
