Do not come here and do not bring a loved one here. St. Joseph overdosed my mom and tried to sweep it under the rug. They even gave her narcan when trying to revive her. They killed her. I have all of the hospital records and they Also tried to "forget" the toxicology report that we asked for with the autopsy. I took the case to a lawyer that said he would take the case because he saw tons of red flags. Unfortunately my sister didn't want to pursue it, she just wanted to leave it be. Whereas I thought that this hospital needs to he held liable for their actions... don't use ascension/st. Joseph.

Would you like to feel like just a number? Like livestock? Would you enjoy the riveting experience of being in a hallway for two days without human contact? A first-hand ground floor view of what the cost of having too few people and not enough care to go around? See the only spark of interest in their eyes is when you list off your insurance provider? If not, go somewhere else. Even if your legs are broken, crawl out of the doorway and go somewhere else. These people do not care.

Went in for a minor out patient surgery. A month later I received the bill from the hospital and my insurance had denied the entire bill stating that the procedure had not been preapproved. I contacted my Dr's office (Ascension Clinic) and they had sent everything over the the hospital and it was the hospital that should have informed my insurance of the procedure. I spent countless hours on the phone with billing. They said there was nothing they could do I would just have to pay the bill. They had no empathy regarding the situation at all. My insurance company and myself did a three way call to the billing department. My insurance informed the billing department that they had some coding errors. The billing department refused to talk with me & my insurance company and hung up. I finally reached the Director of Surgery and she was able to determine that yes the Dr''s office performing the surgery had indeed made a coding error. They refiled the paperwork with my insurance. However the only charge on the bill that was disputed was the actual surgery. So I still ended up paying several thousand dollars out of pocket that I should have not owed if only the correct paperwork would have been filed in the first place. This has been 6 months of stress & anxiety for me. It will have to be a real dying emergency for me to come back to this hospital again. I know it's only money and they just want you to pay what they say you owe and not dispute it. Yea right "Go Paperless", so you can be even more clueless with their ridiculous billing system.

The worst hospital I have ever been to. They claim to have the best maternal ward, but when I went in with extreme abdominal pain and back pain at 37 weeks pregnant. A certain doctor on call put me on a monitor for 30 minutes even said she picked up ā€œfew contractionsā€ but still sent me home with Benadryl and Tylenol and told me ā€œyouā€™re being dramatic. Just go home and sleepā€ had been telling her for the past hour that something was wrong with my baby and she told me that I was being dramatic the next day I went in for my fetal health specialist appointment and they take my baby up on four different occasions and one appointment just to get 20 seconds of breathing again was told I was overthinking it and being dramatic and I should just go home and stop worrying so the next day I went to my regular OB appointment with my amazing OB doctor who immediately took my concern seriously when I had told him what had happened he said ā€œ letā€™s check on baby and see whatā€™s going onā€ he checked on baby and said that he couldnā€™t find a heartbeat then he had a higher up come in and also check baby. He also could not find a heartbeat. They brought in an ultrasound machine and tried to look at baby and said ā€œ please donā€™t worry nothing should be wrong. I very rarely ever see this happened at 37 weeks but just to be sent you over to the OB ward at Saint Joseph hospital where they can have better machines to see baby & out whatā€™s going onā€ then the same doctor that had told me I was being ā€œoverdramatic ā€œ that my baby had passed away. My again amazing OB Doctor came in on his day off to deliver my stillborn baby girl. They need to learn to start listening when a patient especially a pregnant Patient says that they know that something is wrong with her baby and mother knows her baby better than any medical equipment. After I had my baby, everything was amazing all the nurses and doctors were outstanding. It was just that one on-call physician that refuse to listen to me, but I strongly feel that if she just listen to what I was saying and got my OB doctor over to the hospital and they had taken my baby out when I had said something was wrong my baby would still be here. Absolutely no wrong doing by the maternal fetal health specialist nor my normal OB doctor just the one on call physician at the hospital when I first gone in with my concerns.

I wish I could give no stars or even negative stars. They made a huge and dumb mistake by remodeling the ER and having a 2nd waiting area. That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. They don't care about someone's pain. I had a kidney infection and a fever. I sat there for hours with no help. 8 hours, in severe pain. Crying screaming pain. I guess cause I wasn't being dramatic or theatrical (quietly crying not screaming and writing on the floor) they didn't think my pain was as bad as the young adult who came in after me who sprained her ankle and was screaming and crying and having a fit. She was done and gone and I was still in pain getting more and more angry. You suck!

I was born and raised in Wichita and moved to TN. I came home to visit family and found myself in the ED with chest pain. I have to say I received excellent service from door to floor. Every single staff member from house keeping to physician was nice. The ED was so busy, but I am completely blown away. I work in the medical field and this is goals. It was hands down the best hospital experience during a very scary time. I am grateful and hope hospital leadership reads these. I didn't get names. It was busy and I was scared. Every single interaction was A1 . Thank you!

This hospital Is holding my friend hostage for a substance abuse Issue and Guess What else!?!? They decided to give her MORPHINE!?! And 15 drips at That Just To Come To The conclusion It didnā€™t work. Why go All whe way Up To 15?!? They Could Kill Her But they only did Because they know she has an opiate tolerance and thatā€™s Illegal. The nurses are all, How Do I sayā€¦. Female Dogs will be the term I use. So rude. Itā€™s disappointing. She has asked to sign an AMA in which they refused her.

This is the worse hospital you could have ever possibly gone to. Are they in business to treat patients or make them worse?? Iā€™ve gone to this hospital two months ago for a mental breakdown so I had to go to the area where everybody was suicidal or had a mental issue and if I wanted to write a book about their errors I could have done it without any problems whatsoever. When I left the hospital, I was given the reports of The time that I spent time there which was. The report that I was given had some horrendous false information about me.

My brother was admitted to this hospital and held hostage in there against his own will for almost 2 months. The nurses were extremly rude and the pyschiatrists were not communicative with family. My brother was visited by family every single day he was there and we saw how his mental health declined severely as time passed and the nurses, doctors, and even the social worker conspired to keep him hostage in there until insurance no longer extended his stay there. That is when they made an arrupt call to us saying he's getting discharged for with their reasoning being that he's stable after so many times they said he's not stable when he and family asked to be discharged. The day he was discharged the nurse that accompanied him downstairs left him sitting at the entrance alone. That is a violation for leaving a psych patient unattended during discharge. I can honestly say the nurses there are very unprofessional when family calls in to check in on my brother and doctors (Mahttal & Kula) tried overdosing him with medications and forced injections against his will, and they misdiagnosed him with schizophrenia which he does not have. It's not surprise that my brother did not felt safe in that hospital, and his mental health got worst during hid time there. Please do yourself and your love ones a favor by never going to this hospital. It should be sued and shut down. I feel sorry for the many patients trapped in that hospital and mistreated by the nurses (Bea & Ngoc) just to name a few. During my visits I always see a group lf nurses on their phones or reading a book and not checking on the patients

Over 2 hours waiting. Then finally get called back , to a second waiting room. He get taken back, nurse is rude. Didn't even cut off bandage, he did. Then nurse says she needs him to hurry- she has other things to do. REALLY.... then squeeze it and puts him back in waiting room. Another 30+ minutes, he decided to leave. No x-ray, no stitches, no pain meds. Don't go to the worst hospital in Wichita Kansas

Don't go to St. Joseph ER. You will wait 8 hours or longer for care. St. Joseph Hospital is predominantly a psychiatric hospital and the majority of the people waiting in the ER are psychiatric patients. For all other emergencies, go to Rock Regional Hospital in Derby. You will be cared for much more quickly. God Bless the people who work here, but I'm busy working and don't have time to waste.

If I could give zero stars I would. What has happened to this place. I was there via EMS, eventually admitted. The room i got... zero toilet paper and never even told that the bathroom was shared, no papertowel, no plug in for a phone charger, bed way in the middle of the room, could not reach anything, mattress inflates/deflates about ever 30-60 seconds so absolutely zero sleep, no medications given that I was supposed to take daily. Told that I will have to bring them from home...told me that around 230 am. At 4am they come in to figure out how to connect oxygen to CPAP machine but still could not. Didn't check on me all thru the night, had to figure out where to find info on breakfast and stretch to maximum wire/hookups to reach a phone and try to roll the cabinet so i could reach it. Got told to just call the number and that was it. Absolutely shocked at lack of nurse assistance. Your put in the room and just left there.

The professionalism here is severely lacking. We heard staff in the ER talking rudely about patients and using profanity. The lab tech that came to draw blood on my finance, once we were in a room and mind you it was 4am, was fairly rude.

Im not a patient, my daughter is. They nurses and staff on 6 west have been very unkind. On nurse yelled and cussed at me last saturday when i told her she could have more compassion and kindness. After she yelled and cussed at me she locked me any my 60 year old sister out. Sad to see a christian hospital with such mean staff. I can imagine how they treat their patients there

I really hate to write this because my care was great, but they wrongly sent a bill to collections even though it is paid. I have proof that itā€™s paid and I continue to be harassed by the collection agency. Via Christi St. Joseph refuses to give me proof that my patient balance is zero even though on the phone they confirm that I do not owe them any money. They just act like oh well too badā€™ that this bill went to collections. Itā€™s been nearly a year of dealing with this and it seems like no one will help me.

They just waste your time. Unprofessional and a complete disgrace as far as hospitals go. No compassion, no basic human decency. They make you wait hours upon hours only to tell you they won't prescribe any medications to relieve symptoms. Do NOT go to this hospital unless you want to be treated as less than human.

Update: Via Christi Risk Management Reviewed my complaint and decided to take no action and continue to violate my rights under federal law. STAY FAR AWAY FROM ANY VIA CHRISTI HOSPITAL. They will abuse you and then refuse to take action. Of the result of this, I have no where as a special needs patient to receive care in a safe environment anywhere near Wichita. Refused to follow my Special Needs Healthcare Directive (Legally binding directives for my own care compiled in consultation with my doctor and my attorney). Asked for days for a patient advocate, never got one. Was prescribed 1 medication that I am deathly allergic to (and refused it constantly). Dr. Whitney is god awful and doesnā€™t listen. A few good nurses. 1 great doc (Dr Kalu).

This hospital charged me $680 for a simple ultrasound. Then wait 2 months later and sent another bill of $129 for the same service, apparently, the charge came from a physician. When I asked who billed me or who's the physician because I didn't see anyone. They couldn't tell... "that's all I can see and can't provide additional information" The ultrasound they did was the worst one I had and the fetus estimate was way off. My doctor wasn't aware of it because where he sent me was full so I had to do another ultrasound with Dr Wolfe office which was much better and advanced, billing was cleared was well. St Joseph is doing shady business, a simple ultrasound that was sent directly to my OB shouldn't inquire 2 outrage charges, $680 + $129 with no good explanation. I would recommend people to report their billing practices. Update: I've been dealing with their billing to add my second insurance and redo the bill. It's a total nightmare. Their office doesn't handle that on-site. It appears they outsourcing their billing customer service to India or something and they kept transfer ring me 5 times to exact same spot, claiming they only handle physician billing and not hospital. Yet, that's the phone number to call on the bill statement. Their automated message to Update insurance is also impossible to understand or they just leave people hanging on a rubbish website that doesn't exist. Now, I've been trying to get someone to do the billing properly several times to no avail.

my stay in the psychiatric ward was straight up malpractice. for one, they asked me which (1) medication i wanted to be on, out of 12. they withheld a medication from me, causing me to be in withdrawals the entire time. in the middle of the night, a doctor came in and within 2 minutes told me that i didnt have fibromyalgia, without knowing anything about my family or medical history. i'd give this negative stars if i could, and have been actively considering a malpractice suit.

A little careless with paperwork. Wrong address and phone number on discharge papers. ā€œPatient stated no pcp.ā€ They never asked. Nurse was confused about blood pressure before deciding she was looking at the wrong patientā€™s information. She didnā€™t check my wrist band. An update on billing as well as paperwork. I was sent a bill for over $850 which I paid in August. A month later I realized my supplemental had also paid for the same service. Contacted Ascension Via Christi and it has taken three very long phone calls and another month to straighten this out. Worst experience ever!

Was held here for over 12 hours in the waiting room. I was forced here after going to my doctor to try to up my depression meds after having my baby. No suicidal thoughts. They said they were holding me because when I was 16 living in Pa I went to the ER for su*cidal thoughts. I was threatened and inappropriately touched by other patients. They later said they had my bed ready hours ago but had forgotten I was there. My ptsd, severe anxiety, and autism was completely ignored.

After I had a drainage tube replaced, I noticed a relatively serious pain in my back. The nurse told me that it was from the hard beds, that they won't give me anything for it, and to get dressed so she can take me to the front to leave. Other than forcing myself to get up to go to the bathroom, I have lived in a recliner for 3 days. It simply hurts too much to move. This problem is directly connected to a gallbladder surgery over 6 weeks ago. I will be contacting a lawyer to explore my options.

Zero. Go to any other hospital in Wichita. Call your doctor back and get a referral to a different place it only takes 5 minutes. Scheduled a mammogram arrived on time admissions said the only person who could perform it left early and both knew who I was. I told them I drove 30 minutes why didnā€™t someone call me? They said I should have arrived 30 minutes before my appointment for checkin. I said I checked in online and no one told me to arrive 30 minutes early? By the way radiology are the ones that make the appointment so LIES. I replied so this is a psychic situation, you make the appointment then leave the patients to guess what time to arrive not the time you set but 30 minutes early? I understand whatā€™s going on you and radiology knew I was coming, they knew my name at admissions but no one elseā€™s, she wanted to leave and your covering each other by blaming me. I wasted an hour of my time plus gas money to deal with lies and incompetence and blame game. I called my doctors and they immediately changed the location of my mammogram just 5 minutes away from my home. Donā€™t throw good money or your time on subpar service especially when it comes to your health. Remember you have options so opt out of this hospital.

Friendly, informative staff that went far above and beyond to provide a comfortable and professional atmosphere. Every single person that interacted with me, and the patient I was there for, were by far the best of hospital staff I've ever personally experienced, and the amenities they provided to both of us were without parallel. All of them kept us informed and comfortable in the knowledge that the best possible care was being provided at all times. I usually don't write reviews, but this place....this is what Healthcare should look like. It really was that good. I have never wanted to thank a business before, but I sure do now.

Iā€™ve gone to St Joe for years and not once have I had a positive experience when it comes to their ER. I just took two trips to their ER this past week for a debilitating migraine (on day 7 that still has yet to go away) I was looking at my discharge paperwork and found out they diagnosed it as a ā€œgeneralized headacheā€ and only gave me Benadryl and an antipsychotic. I was in the ER for 9 hours and they did nothing. Iā€™m severely upset with how they treated my situation. I even passed out and my IV ripped out during the fall and not a single staff member batted an eye. Awful, awful place.

My girlfriend had a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Removal of Gallbladder using laparoscopic techniques). From emergency care unit and surgery department to the Ward 5 staff took care of her very good. Waiting area for family members in the surgery unit had displays showing status of the surgery. Our caregivers were very nice and helpful. I felt like they gave undivided attention to each patient. The hospital is going through some major renovations these days, so you could easily get lost or take time to find the place youā€™re looking for. The cafe ā€˜Down Underā€™ in lower level has a fantastic menu. They serve breakfast all day and thereā€™s a Starbucks inside the cafe as well.

I wish I had read the reviews of this hospital before I came. 2.5 is accurate for their overall rating. I am beyond frustrated with the financial department side of things. I gave birth here August 28th, it is now October 23 and still no one has contacted me about my financial aide status. Itā€™s crickets. Iā€™ve gotten nothing in the mail. My bills are coming in and I have no idea if I need to pay them. It turns out that the documents I submitted were never scanned into the right place and it took me calling around and figuring out who to find for that to be realized. I absolutely am never coming here to give birth again. Not to mention my actual birth and how physically rough the doctor was with me, it was more painful then my actual birth. I also STILL have not received my sons social security card!

Let's talk about standard of care. When a child has suicidal ideations Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph sticks that child in a flimsy gown and throws them on a bed in the hallway in the ER! No quiet, no care, bright lights for HOURS (over 12 hours so far). No updates or care given unless we ask and even then all anyone can say is "there is nothing they can do, they have no beds, he could be in this hallway for days, can't take your child home because they are required to call law enforcement if you do...." If I was a kid, I would never tell another soul that I had intrusive thoughts. Frustrating and heartbreaking.

I think 7W staff are amazing!!! I love that the staff are so friendly. And that they truly care for the patients. And they want to see you succeed. I prefer night shift over day shift staff but thatā€™s my opinion. But Iā€™m thankful for where my life is nowadays. I give a shout out to Mirna, Katie, Jules, Hannah and krista!!!

Hospital doesn't stand by its core values. There's alot that I can say about this place for a short time that I was employed. Employees can come to work under the influence and high as a kite. They can make sexual remarks and sexual conversation and when you don't want to hear it they turn around and lie on you. Cause I was the only black man on staff they found a way to get rid of me by lying on me and making false statements on me. Reported situation to Security Manager who I never met before talked to her on the phone and she ran back and told everything that I told her about the lead and workers under her and how I didn't feel comfortable. Then it's all turned around in what I told her and was used against me and said I said this stuff to people. Never will I waste my time working for a place like this again. I'm way better than this and have respect for others compared to these group of people. If you can run as far away from this place it.'s a very toxic work environment. HR doesn't take anything seriously they will just sweep under the rug and not do a thing about it.

My father has been here for almost 12 hours with a bowl obstruction, has been admitted but still in the ER on a continuous dose of morphine, next shift admitted they had no idea about his condition and thought they just got there. Charge nurse full of excuses, no empathy and passing the blame. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF SURGERY BY NOW!! If it was up to me, heā€™d be going somewhere else IMMEDIATELY.

Thank you to the geriatric psychiatry and behavioral ward staff & doctors. Our mom has complex dementia with Lewy bodies. Sheā€™s been to another facility in Wichita who was only interested in medicating her to no end then moving her on. Saint Joseph did a detox and started her on one med at a time which is what she needed to regulate her behavior to a point she could return to a memory care facility.

I had the opportunity to work in this hospital, and while it is true that there are some errors, it is also true that we all make mistakes, but the important thing is to keep in mind that errors do not have to be intentional. Medical personnel are also human, they have their own problems and make their mistakes, but that does not make them undesirable beings. You cannot imagine the great stress and responsibility that people who work in a hospital have on their hands. They are there trying to save the lives of all their patients. We have to be a little more grateful and thank God for the work that all these people do.

Worst experience with a group of professionals. I never met my doctor, they had nothing prepared or Organized, my sheets and pillow where all disgusting, nobody had any idea I was supposed to be there or that i need anesthesia and to top it off they were rude to me the whole time I got a few Eyerolls and a bunch of people telling me I didn't need anesthesia and to just do it awake.

My husband and I literally fell so in love with this hospital we constantly tease we wish we could move into the facility. We gave birth to my son on 1/7/23 there and fell in love with the whole experience. A big special thanks to the following staff (sorry for any misspellings or possible incorrect titles). Dr. Scrafford, my OB, for delivering my son and performing a flawless c-section even though I was absolutely terrified, Dr. Craddock for grabbing my face and calling me a mama bear and reassuring me the toughest decisions are made for our children, to Dr. Songberg (I may be misremembering this name) for gentle hands and making me feel heard in the pre-delivery room, Dr. Bayliff for being so kind and communicating so quickly with my doctor to get things rolling quickly but efficiently, Brandon the anesthesiologist who literally made my c-section bearable at all by keeping my mind busy with Disney songs and jokes, literally would have not been able to do any of this without him. The literal Angel nurse Amy, who was my first nurse that cared for every single need I had in such a short staffed night, wiping literal blood off my legs and supporting me the whole night through. Nurse Marissa for, though worrying us about our sonā€™s breathing when he ended up being fine, was only concerned and meant well. Nurse Tammi for coming in only when necessary so we could get some sleep as new parents, and Nurse Jenny who let us sleep in before discharging so we could somewhat function, and also Nurses Mandi and Amanda, Dr. Keley for listening to me about my postpartum anxiety worries, Dr. Ansari for reassuring us our sonā€™s breathing was alright, and Dr. Yeni for helping Dr. Scrafford during my pregnancy checkups. Then, most importantly, Christi the lactation specialist for helping us feed our son when we couldnā€™t breastfeed but so desperately wanted to, and then the rest of the LC staff Amy, Lanel, and Michelle, for making my breast feeding journey possible and always being so supportive. Oh, and the kitchen staff for always providing delicious, hot food! Seriously, giving birth in the hospital was the best experience I could have ever possibly had, even though my birth plan was entirely out the window because of the emergency c-section, and I will definitely have my next child there. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was great, and I got my son out of all of that. 100 stars if I could!

I will not come back for any more surgeryā€™s because of your IV nurse. The nurses were very polite and caring. Took away one star because you donā€™t have a good iv person to start ivā€™s in the surgical area. I know this because this was the same iv nurse that couldnā€™t get an iv started the last time I had surgery. Even though I have small veins that roll I still never have this problem anywhere else. She also needs to be taught not to fish around for someoneā€™s vein once she has the needle in. This creates an unneeded very very painful experience. !!

I had an appt scheduled here on Aug 11 at 1:00 .Despite the mixup of me being confused of where I was supposed to be ( thought it was St Francis) they waited on me. I was more than a half hour late for my pre-op appt, they graciously let me be seen. Their pre-op team and Admission desk was more than friendly and helpful. I was treated with the utmost respect. This is what a 4star quality Health Care Hospital looks like. I am more than satisfied. Thank you for providing my care.

Everyone from check in to dismissal was great! The nurse took good care in a professional & caring way. My physician, Dr Cox, and the anesthetist, Dr Kohen & Juan, both explained everything quite well. After the surgery my family was informed that all went well and answered their question. All went smoothly and I was able to get back home. Than you! ..

Everyone was super nice. Very attentive and felt very safe and secure in my care after my surgery. The nursing staff is top notch! Even the staff cleaning my room was very friendly and asked if they could do anything else for me. This may be an older building but staff makes it shine.
