If I could write less than a 1 star I would. My brother has been in there for mental health multiple times. They write it off as alcoholism. We have guardianship and they ignore it. They turn him out on the streets just for him to get beat up. We have tried so many times for him to get help there and they don’t help him. They take mental health as a joke. They threaten to kick us out every time when we try to get him help. Don’t go there because you will loose your loved one. Ethics is not taken seriously at all there. Nurses are rude. Social workers are rude! Doctors are a joke! Please save your loved ones and take them somewhere else! Edit: I have filed a complaint and so has my family. No one has got back with me. The reply is great with a phone number but you guys don’t reach out to people. We have filed complaints with department heads, online, and while we were there. No one took us seriously.

This was my issue. MRI had a man working when I had to get one, and I ended up pushing the panic button after receiving contrast. I felt difficulty breathing, and he was being dismissive saying it must be anxiety and quickly rushed me back into the machine, and didn’t wait a minute or two to check if I was having a reaction. When being stuck back inside for additional 20+ minutes, you would hope a medical professional would slow down for a minute, but his words were, “Well if you’re wanting us to get this finished before 5, then I need to get you back into this machine.” Look I get it. Still, I went back into the machine and had to pray it was just anxiety and some symptoms from getting contrast, and nothing serious. Truly for this type of profession , people need to have empathy. It is sad when you come across individuals who don’t.

My wife and I are here at St Francis Hospital emergency room waiting for a life flight to St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City Mo. This hospital has really went down hill. I would warn everybody to avoid this hospital at all cost. I'm 64 years old and disabled. I'm in a lot of pain from a recent auto accident. I'm laid back and mind my own business and show respect for others. I had went down to the cafeteria to buy breakfast for my wife. I stepped outside to take a break from the all night waiting. A man approached me and ask for a cigarette . I gave him one and was walking away when a man from St Francis security yelled " what are you guys doing" I said " minding my own business" and started walking away. He said " I'm not talking to you" so I walked back inside. I went into the cafeteria and bought breakfast for my wife and started walking back to my wife's room. Two men in hooded brown coats approached me and said "you got to leave right now or we will remove you. " I said who are you" and at that time five or six more men showed up and the one named Hamilton chest check me and and said" what's your problem" I stated who I was and explained that I was here with my wife and returning to her with breakfast" he said" you either calm down or we will remove you from the property" I wasn't talking loud or acting in any way out of line. No matter what I said he continued to become more aggressive and louder and threatening. The other six or seven men with him were getting louder making comments and threatening. I tried to deescalate the situation but they were like a linch mob and got even more threatening and aggressive. I finally was allowed ( at the price of my dignity and self respect) to return to my wife's room to await the helicopter that was on its way to transport her. I feel totally assaulted and violated and I'm in fear for my safety at this hospital. Nobody should have to go through this type of trauma while respectfully attempting to get medical treatment. I plain to seek legal action against Via Christi St Francis. This experience has me really traumatized and I plan to use every resource to expose this illegal practice by Via Christi Hospital. Please be aware of this place and don't risk going there for treatment.

Had a 4 day stay here for surgery and I can't say enough about the care and service I received. I transferred in from another town and they had my room waiting and nestled me in there quickly and as painlessly as possible. I had visits and introductions each shift change which was nice. I had surgery on day 2 and it could not have gone better. My surgeon Dr Grantham explained the surgery extensively to my son after, and to me later as I came out of anesthesia. My care was stellar from minute in to last contact (a sweet lady Wheeled me to my car, has worked there 40 years!) I could not be happier. One tip, the food was very tasty, (vegetarians, they have a garden burger!) But takes 45 minutes at least. Order ahead of your normal meal time. Father Green, thanks for the visit.

I can not begin to explain how the staff at this hospital made me feel after the passing of my Aunt (mom) as she was the one that raised me since I was 3. My mom was admitted to this hospital by her biological daughter on Saturday who I reached out too for help. I visited my mom in the hospital everyday day except on Tuesday and the very last time I saw her was on Monday. I returned Wednesday evening at 8 pm and I had gone up the 7th floor looking for my mom and when I asked the nurses on that floor they told me that they NEVER had anyone by that name there. They told me to even check down the hall (which at that point they knew what was going on) which I did at another wing of the hospital and I returned to once again check on the last name that my mom was admitted under and once again they tell me that they never had anyone under that name. I am soon greeted by security and told I must go with them outside the hospital to speak with them and I am At this point unsure of what is happening and no one can give me answers. I’m told I must leave. Turns out my mother had died in the morning her biological daughter didn’t want to know and the nursing staff instead of explaining to me in a more humane way that the family didn’t want to disclose information to me had me believing I was living in a twilight episode question myself if my mom was ever in the hospital. The nurse didn’t even have the nerve to stick around and even face me when security came to the front desk. The whole hospital staff on that floor needs training on how to speak to people when they are literally facing the hardest time in their life.

I had to have an Emergency room visit a few months ago. The nurses were very kind, the doctor was very nice. Thankful for Good Health care worker’s!! I’ve also gone to just look at the beautiful display of Memories throughout History with the Hospital. They have antique surgery tools and pictures of the beginning of this beautiful Hospital! They also have a lovely gift store full of eccentric gifts for your loved one during their Stay.

I wouldnt even give them one star but that is the only way to post my review. I have never been to such a horrible hospital. My family was treated horrible in one of the worst times in our lives. My son died at this hospital and they wouldn't even let us view his body after he died and said he had to go straight to the coroner. After they told us he died not one person came to talk to us or see how we were doing. They have no empathy for anyone and treat you like your trash. I will never take another family member to this hospital.

Absolutely horrible hospital. My brother spent almost 2 weeks there. Under this staff’s “care” he suffered several strokes, seizures and never had his core health issues addressed. At the 2 week mark, with no explanation of his health crisis or plan for getting and keeping him healthy he was transferred to their rehabilitation facility where he died 24 hours later. You have options when it comes to your care or the care of your loved ones. Expect, require and demand better or just stay away from this place.

This is the worst ER I have been to. I haven’t been to this ER since I was pregnant in 2020. I was having serious complications with my pregnancy and when I arrived the made me sit in the waiting room for 45 minutes, put in an iv and made me sit there. I left and went to Wesley. Fast forward two years. Today I took my husband to the ER for severe chest pain at 4:45 PM, he didn’t get discharged until 10:30. All that was done was blood work (after they had to redraw) x ray, and a ct. the entire time they made him sit in the waiting room in excruciating pain and didn’t even seem to care. He quite literally had to beg the staff to let him go to the bathroom because it was to much of an inconvenience for them to unhook the iv. I wouldn’t even bring my dog to this ER. Don’t come here if you don’t want to be treated like dirt.

Spent 6 hours and got treated poorly. There were some staff acting unprofessional at times heard some refusing to go to the waiting room to get next person because they didn't want to do it. My girlfriend was pretty much kicked to the curb with very serious issues. Hospital refused to help or give any type of relief especially on a holiday where the pharmacies are closed they pretty much said script sent over and now get out. she had to deal with pain so bad couldnt eat, sleep, or move at all. Very poor. There were some nice nurses but overall not happy at all with this and having someone suffer like this is not right.

Do you only answer reviews that are positive? I was inpatient in cardiac ICU for 9 days and recently did a survey, I asked to be contacted about "traveling nurse" issues I had on 3rd shift. These nurses are not qualified to care for patients, I had to tell them where items were in the room, they tried to play head games which I was in no mood for and I swear "Vicki" took my pain medication. I have not been contacted and I have much more information to share and hopefully save someone from the hell I went through and was alert enough to report. Wow shortly after this I see that nurses are going on strike because of issues I reported. I believe patients that did not receive adequate care should also join them. I was not given the nursing agency name and found out that the hospital does not insure these traveling nurses but the agency they come from. This should scare anyone receiving treatment!!!

Felt a lack of security and heavy judgement from the nurses, was not able to have my midwife that was assigned for whatever reason. Took tests without written consent. My postpartum nurse was a male who refused to empty my catheter, I was ill and had urinary retention. I pressed my call button several times to no avail, and finally, when the nurse came, he was rude and treated me like an inconvenience. After almost an hour of pain, a nurse finally came to help me and was rather rude, did not explain what was going on. As a former CNA who used to work with ascension, they really have gone downhill ever since Covid and I do not feel safe at this hospital setting. I do not suggest seeking care here if you want staff that has compassion for your loved ones.

I understand that the ER gets busy but if someone comes in and cuts their finger to the bone, shouldn’t they give you something for pain instead of JUST wrapping it and sitting them in waiting room. I quietly and patiently asked the ER desk nurse if a doctor could possibly give him 800 mg ibuprofen she completely went off on me because I made her uncomfortable. What kind of nurse acts that way!!

In December of 2021 My wife had to be taken into the ER. She was having Breathing issues. We let the PA and Head Nurse Know she was highly allergic to the dye they use for a CT Scan. They insisted on her taking the dye to make their job easier without concern to her allergies. Once they injected her with the dye she went in to convulsion's so they started pumping her with Benadryl. As she was begging for someone to help her they administrated more Benadryl which finally calmed her down. After putting her through undo stress they treated her as if she was faking. Having extreme COPD they were close to killing her. I was told I could not come back in after going outside to get my temper under control. In January they sent us a bill for a Large amount before insurance had paid. We never received a bill for adjusted amount. Fast forward almost a year and they send us to Collections without trying to contact us or send a revised statement. When my Wife called in to ask questions she was told they had sent a bill in January and claim they sent 1 in March. Between ER staff and Billing we will not be going to St. Francis again.

Wish I could give zero stars. My father passed away here. It was a very traumatic experience, mostly caused by the staff. The nurses, security, the surgeon and even the doctor who signed the death certificate. Absolutely horrible. No transparency and zero compassion. Formal complaints will be done.

I just spent 3 days on 7N Oncology unit. I arrived by ambulance to the ED. My experience was amazing from srart to finish. Every employee was amazing, The facility was clean & the food was good. The only thing I miss is the nuns & priests that used to come visit. Faith & Prayer is an imp part of healing.

My er experience was awful but my son's er and peds ICU experience was great.. My son was having problems breathing. I called 911 and they scooped and ran, cause he was turning blue. 15 people were waiting our arrival and he was moved to peds ICU pretty quickly and was diagnosed the next day. They were wonderful, everyone. They took great care of him and me. I can't tell you how much I appreciated them. They saved his life. This was back in 2011 when they had a pizza hut in the cafe that was open at 1am. I would love to give 5 stars but my personal er experience was terrible. I am in recovery, I was having the worst headache of my life. It was horrific. I had a NP and she treated me like I was drug seeking. Basically a who cares attitude. She gave me toradol, which I am sure helps. I had no interest in seeking narcotics but I was a 10/10. She treated me like I was faking and basically discharged me after 10 mins of toradol and my head was still pounding like 10 ice picks wired with electricity were being stabbed into my brain every second. I told the nurse it was not getting better and this was the worst headache I have ever had. The pc came back and said " I won't be giving you anything else". I had let them all know prior that I was in Medication Assisted Treatment for my addiction. So in all honesty I didn't need to fake or seek anything I already had meds so I didn't suffer. I called the charge nurse or the head nurse in the ER and asked her what that woman's problem was and if she was treating me like a drug addict and refusing to treat the worst headache ever because I am on MAT. The NP came back in claiming that she didn't even know. Well if she read my notes yes she did. I was sent home and had a seizure a few hours later and was diagnosed with meningitis. Thanks a lot!! Now my short term memory is completely messed up. Shoulda sued.

They should have let me die. For a place that says they provide hope and help, they do a lot if ignoring when you're in need of hope and help. (Side note - the number the post in their response, straight to voice mail with zero call backs. Asensions is predatory company.) I had a gap in my insurance coverage at the start of January 2023. I had a freak accidnet that caused me to bleed out internally, unaware of what was happening to me. I was vomiting my blood waiting in the ER to be seen, unconcious, and unaware of what was happening to me and around me. They forced me to sign things I couldn't even see. I told them I didn't have insurance, they told me they had programs to help me. Fastforward to when i get my first bill and I call up the number for financial assistance. I was told that I qualified for their charity program by multiple people in the financial assistance office. Based on my information, cost of living, stubs. I spoke with a Melody Robles and they requiered even more information. I sent it. I haven't heard back, this was in April of 2023. I call the finacial assitance department and never get to talk with anyone. Directly to Voicemail. So I leave a voicemail everytime. I've had one call back at 4:55pm, 5 mins before they closed, the lady was very rude and bothered that I had to call her back. I was in the middle of a phone interview for a job. All the other vendors involved in my freak accidnet, were more than happy to help financially with either a discount or just outright forgive the debt. BUT, I need the letter from Ascension Via Christi. They've ignored me so long that all the vendors have sent it off to collection. Without the funds to pay for this, I'm left with only two options. One more permenat than the other. Why save my life when this not-for-profit hospitl plans to bleed me dry and take me for everything I worked a life time . I'm not rich, and I barely get by. I pay my taxes on time and in full if i owe, I voulenteer my time to sick-kids, small business owners and veterains. I had something very unfortunate happen to me, out of my control and at the worst possible time. While in the hospital I was told by many of the different doctors that I should be able to go home. Except One doctor that kept me for days in the BURN ICU, which cost more. That doctor is also the one that I owe the most in debt. Hope and Help? An accurate slogan: "Lies and Extortion, Ascension Via Christi"

Well. First my father was sent by ambulance due to low blood pressure. He was in the ER for over 24 hours due to low staffing. No rooms clean.. one employee stated they had 8 rooms but no one to clean. Dad called us that night and asked for us to bring him underwear. He called for help to go and peeded his pants due to no one coming... Finally got moved. I had ask nurse for the "Patient Advocate " the nurse stated "we don't have one" asked another nurse and Finally some lady came.. I noticed while dad was talking about his concerns, she didn't take notes or recorded conversation..So this is why I'm writing this... If you have a choice. Don't go to this hospital... What a Christian Business... they only care about $$$ and not helping people.

Just got home from a week stay after having surgery. Every floor and nurse was good except on 6th floor. 6050. I was in that room 4 days push call lights for assistance but took 30 mins to hour before getting help. They neglected me bad on that floor and didn't do doctor recommendations for me. Had bed alarm on everyone bed wouldn't let anyone more be comfortable. Doc wanted me up and moving and I was even walking with physical therapy before going to 6th floor and was doing great. Then go to that floor and (never been but felt like prison.) But for was best part of the stay. Have the pizza I recommend that. Was doughy still like I like it it. Not crispy

The admission went smoothly and staff was very efficient and friendly. Once I got to the prep area, I was given instructions on the procedure for my surgery and prepared for the process. Staff was very friendly and made me very comfortable for my surgery. Overall visit was very pleasant and all staff was very nice and efficient. Only complaint would be cold breakfast and coffee. Large hospital so not sure what can be done about food.

This hospital seriously needs shut down. No privacy what so ever with your medical emergency. If you don’t have insurance and are self pay. They put you to the side. I will be reporting this hospital to EMTALA. The nurse pushed the Covid swab so hard in my nose she made my nose bleed. Waited 2 1/2 hrs before seeing a very unprofessional PA didn’t even know she was the PA. Very rude acted like it was against her will to be employed in the ER. They let everyone in the lobby know your medical Emergency no privacy what so ever. Nurse came out yelling saying she’s the only nurse and has 20 other people in the lobby. The whole time I was there never knew why I was sitting in a very uncomfortable chair from 2 am to noon the next day. Never knew the whole time what was going on with why I have been sitting in enormous amount of pain never given anything for the pain. I wanted the ambulance to take me somewhere else the girl checking people in without ability to pay said they gonna bring you right back to that chair. Just unbelievable

This isn't about the medical staff or care given. This is about the spending nearly 15 hours overnight in the ER after being referred for surgery before being moved to an ER exam room and then waiting another 12 hours to be given a room to be prepared for surgery. This is about claiming, there's no rooms avaliable when in fact there are empty rooms, beds, and bed slots. This is about hospital administration lacking the empathy, will, and creativity to fix the variables that cause this.

I was in Via Christi st. Francis in Wichita in late 2018. I had to stay there for over 2 months because of an infection I had in my shoulder. That was the best hospital experience I ever encountered. The people were very friendly and knowledgeable. I love that hospital and if I have to go through another surgery I would do it again. I never thought I'd say that about any hospital. I usually dislike hospitals. I Thank you Via Christi Saint Francis. Gene Schneider

Five Hours and Counting. We have been sitting in the Emergency room waiting area for FIVE HOURS AND STILL WAITING. I WISH WE COULD GO TO WESTLEY. I understand there are people sicker than my husband but... 5 HOURS!! If you only have COVID-19 OR FLU SYMPTOMS: STAY HOME. YOU ARE BETTER OFF THAN COMING HERE.

I went in to the ER in January with chest and back pain and spent 4 and a half hours just for them to tell me it was heartburn and send me home to “take a tums and sleep it off”. Turns out I was having a bad reaction to an antibiotic I was taking, which I told them was a possibility. The triage nurses were amazing and kind, but once I was moved back to a room, everyone was at best dismissive and at worst condescending and rude. Now, 5 months later, after several attempts to pay a $1600 bill and even more attempts to contact someone to discuss a payment plan, being left on hold or passed around for hours, I am now having to deal with a debt collector calling me. $1600 for a chest x-ray, blood work, and being told to “next time, just take a tums and sleep it off”. Ridiculous.

I had the best experience here. I'm from out of town. I'm a truck driver who had a broken tooth get extremely infected and the treatment from a previous doctor in Nebraska wasn't working and was in extreme pain. The staff there were fast, efficient, and most importantly kind and compassionate in a way you don't see often. The doctor I saw was Sarah Zimmerman and she was exceptional and the star above all others. You can really tell she got into medicine because she genuinely wants to help people and I'm really grateful for everything she did for me tonight. I feel she went above and beyond for me and I can't thank you enough if you happen to read this.

FIVE STARS... Unlike the other meals here at Saint Francis hospital dining services in Wichita, I didn't make it to the clean plate club with this meal. The cheese and chicken quesadilla was totally awesome! I didn't quite manage to eat all of it. It was very scrumptious and worthy of paying $10 for, if you are ever a hungry guest here, I strongly suggest getting this. The mashed potatoes and gravy is excellent as well as the carrots, which I also strongly suggest getting as the 2 side items. I have shrimp, oat and egg allergy, plus I am lactose intolerant. The dietary restrictions are adhered to, even if I am willing to take my chances. For my dessert option, I chose the apple pie, as it passed as an approved for me. It has plenty of cinnamon to help lower blood sugar level, should you happen to be diabetic and need the cinnamon item, this is it! Or if you just love pie 🥧 in the first place, like me. Plus, they have Diet Coke as a drink choice. :-D

Honestly if it wasn't for how packed they were it would probably be fine, but I got mostly really new students. One such student, with very shaky hands, did my stitches. But overall, they did the best they could and got me in and out in a timely manner.

I call an urgent care facility and was told to go directly to the ER room. Saint Francis verbally shouts at me to sit in the waiting area as I am attempting to explain what brought me there. A dumpy nurse with about 4 other employees circled around does nothing but showcase her terrible manner and dismissively say there's nothing she can do and go see my primary care doctor. No tests were completed. I was just told to leave basically. I then receive a bill for $1,618.00 in charges and a separate bill for $419.00 from the "Physicians Billing Department" that cited Tara Riedel, A.P.R.N. was the supervising physician and that my visit was "Moderate" whcih conflicts the hospitals most recently statement citing Gred Zandrow was the "Provider" and that my vist consisted of a "Level 4" surgery. I requested a itemized statement and get stonewalled with a 1 line item charge of $1,618. Customer service said an investigation as to the charge will begin and expect to know in a month what the bill was for, expand level 4 surgery I purportedly received. Now 2+ months later, I get a demand with threats of a collection service so I call customer service and they said the investigation ended last month. Nobody notified me. I ask for what the level 4 surgery I am said to have was and she couldn't provide it. This is not the end. It's my opinion that I'm being railroaded into being a victim of billing fraud by multiple culpable parties. State boards, agencies, ect will be contacted. Any news organization that may want to pickup this story, I can be reached at @b2veg on IG

The nursing staff here are amazing hard working people. The doctors are very knowledgeable. The patient kitchen staff are complete useless. The food is disgusting. Not sure how a patient is supposed to get healthy and strong if they can’t stand to eat that slop. Should get food from a premise heat and eat delivery service.

Honestly the nurses and staff are amazing, but the security came into my room accusing me of smoking in it. I wasn’t smoking. They wrongly searched my purse when I did not give them permission. And I’m sorry, but I no longer feel safe here. My purse smells like cigarettes. I’m sorry. And now because of that, it’s been taken from me, I don’t understand. I’m stuck in my hospital room and because some random person thought I was smoking in my room because my purse smelled like cigarettes, the security came in here, told me the whole place could blow up, went through my purse, took my things, and then left. I didn’t give them permission, I’m just so confused.

We have spent 3 wks in the coronary icu and the nurses and doctors have been so kind and very thorough. I'm am so grateful for the wonderful care that we have received. Too many times people complain, and I have no complaints. So thankful, it takes special people to do the work they do and the care they provide. May God Bless them all!

The hospital doctors are not very communicative with family members of patients there regarding information about what their medical condition is. The nursing staff is better, as is the case in pretty much every hospital.

I had a good experience. The people that were doing my MRI were very helpful. The receptionist went out of her way to help make sure we got back to the parking garage quickly. Just wish that I would have been told that there was a closer/separate entrance to get to MRI.

The nursing staff is just great! If you're going to be there awhile (not as patient), bring your own things to eat, the prices in their Cafe, for cold items, are high and portions are small. The Starbucks there has a wonderful chocolate mocha pecan muffin!

I had a stent placed in my esophagus last Monday and by Friday I was back having it replaced after it slipped down into my stomach. I was sent to St. Francis to have X-rays last Wednesday and had no problems getting them done right away. I have been in a lot of pain since Friday and I called Dr. Corn and she ordered more X-rays today. The order was sent over at 9:30am this morning. I arrived at 10:45am and they told me they couldn't find the orders. So I had to call my doctor again and have her send the orders again just so they could tell me they couldn't do anything for me and I would have to go to St. Joe to get them done. I don't know why I was able to get my X-rays done last week but not this week. I am in a lot of pain and needed this done so my surgeon can help me. Everyone in your admissions department is rude and very unhelpful.

Always treated good! Only complaint is I always ask them to say something to me during the long first half of mri. Doesn’t always happen and it makes me nervous! Some techs do this and some don’t. Maybe they don’t realize it is reassuring to patient in the enclosed tube. Other than that they were good!!

The supervisor at this hospital hung up on me as I was maming a complaint about his staff. He did not like the fact that I told him their attitude towards low income patients is going to have people die simply because they don't want to deal with the arrogance of doctors. Treat all your patients with respect because I dont remember any part of the Hippocratic oath that says do no harm UNLESS they are poor. You guys really need to find your humanity again or find a different job.

This is my least favorite hospital in Wichita Kansas. I decided to go to this location due to having blurriness in my eyes and pain when looking left, right. Upon arrival, I look around the waiting area and the cleanliness is a zero out of 10. It seems chaotic in the lobby, but triage is at an acceptable Wait time. It seem like the PA was very knowledgeable, and in tuned as well as the triage nurses, but the front desk receptionist was not, and neither was Security. I watched two individuals try and walk out of the hospital with IV and Security not stop them, I watched a nurse keep her gloves on for multiple patients before finally changing them, And I also noticed the lack of communication between each staff member. After waiting for almost 2 hours, I talked to some of the other patients in the waiting room who had complaints about waiting for up to six hours just to be seen!! Although my emergency may not have seen Big to the staff members that night, it had me scared, frightened that I was having blurry vision and pain in my eye. After observing and talking to multiple patients about their wait time, I decided to leave for the night and go home. I think a lot of the negative things that I witnessed and experienced tonight could have been changed if communication was better and leadership was stronger at this location. I did not take my frustrations out on anyone because I understand the feeling of being understaffed and working in a busy environment, However, I would love for the negative reviews of this hospital to be addressed. I didn’t die (yet) From my complication, however, there could have been previous patient who felt the need to leave before being taken care of, and had more serious symptoms Not addressed.

I was there with a friend for surgery that lasted 4 hours. Everyone was polite and quite professional. She is currently still receiving care and we are very satisfied
