The facilities are nice and I enjoyed visiting this location with family and friends, however, me and my three children were followed and harassed after staff requested that my children leave the women's locker room. The staff manager also held my three children after they left the locker room and told me that she would not allow me to leave the building with my three children. Although facilities and guest desk staff were always professional, the managers acted inappropriately when they mishandled me and my three children.

Clean and good Y in Wichita Downtown! I went on a Saturday morning and experienced a lesser crowd than before. Being in downtown this Y attracts many active people. It has a huge basketball court, gym area and studios in the top. Swimming and other hot sauna amenities for members to use. I love the Y group activities. There are drinking water faucets near studios convenience. Enjoyed my workout at this location.

Convenient location, lots of old school lifting equipment. Cardio machines are available also. There are towels to wipe down equipment with but the gym area isn’t pristine. There are squat racks available in addition to the pix I posted, the ones I posted I thought were a little awkward because one of them is right next to the running track. I did deadlifts. It’s $10 for a visit for the day- it is worth it if you are staying downtown.

As a former Y Executive with nearly 30 years of experience I must say this is one of the finest Y’s I have ever visited. The facility has been open for 8 years and still looks brand new. Locker rooms were very clean and well organized. The showers are fully tiled (which means much easier to clean and maintain in the long run). Many Ys shortcut tiling for early cost savings, but the wise Ys spend a bit more in the beginning to save on staffing and repairs in the long run. This is important because studies show members enjoy clean facilities...that and caring staff! The pool is fully tiled and that’s good for reasons I mentioned earlier. I swim so this will help swimmers. The water is crystal clear. I mean crystal. While that is no guarantee of great water quality it is very strong evidence. Temperature is totally a matter of personal preference. Lap swimmers will love the temp of the water, water exercisers will not be excited about this cooler setting. I guess about 81 degrees or so. Again, this really is just a matter of personal preference and not something to grade a faculty by. Back to the showers. They are curtained and warm. It may seem little, but having a quality stainless steel wire rack attached to the wall makes it easy to stow shower items like soap and shampoo. However, when you first enter the Y you can’t help but notice the HUGE TV screen in the lobby - set to ESPN. I didn’t go to the fitness area or gym, but the lobby, pool and locker rooms are a great areas for judging fitness facilities and Ys. I use Nationwide YMCA and was cared for very well by the front desk staff. This is truly a gem of a Y.

Out of all the YMCA's in wichita this is the worst/ most disgusting with terrible staff who never clean or rerack weights properly to taking forever on repairs to equipment/ drinking fountains, disgusting bathrooms especially men's locker room the mens steam room, and sauna! There's black mold all along the bottom of the sauna and they close it down early everyday, and never clean it so it's always smelling! The people who work here are mostly unpleasant, and unwilling to do their jobs unless it means "Closing Down 10 minutes early." to not clean the 2 obviously smelly steam room / sauna, but no the little black ring of black mold all the way around the sauna isn't a problem, and isn't disgusting, plus the steam room smelling like piss is always nice too so thank you to everyone who works there you do a terrible job, and I hope to see you all "working" real soon.

I dropped in to swim some laps while on a road trip. Pool is 25 Short Course Yards - and perfect temp for a long session. Great Aquatics Staff! This visit was my second time here - Front Desk Staff was friendly and remembered me from my last visit several months ago. Jeannie was fabulous and refreshed me on all of the facility features and locations. Locker rooms were clean and spacious - nice sauna and steam rooms. Can't wait to return!

I have been a YMCA member for about 10 years and this is definitely my favorite location. I love the large windows around the track, cardio and weights are separate, and the kid's area is secluded from the work out areas/ locker rooms. Men and women also have their own steam rooms/saunas. Over the past several years, I've seen the management evolve. The staff is always nice (minus a couple creepy ones in the past), especially the gentleman in the morning and the longer, curly haired gentleman in the afternoon at the front desk. Cleaning has gotten much better lately! My ONLY complaint is that I get MRSA extremely easily and whatever disinfectant is in their spray bottles, I don't think works against MRSA/Staph. Luckily, I've learned how to catch it early and have prescription topical solutions for it. However, it almost killed me in 2018 and the doctors and I narrowed it down to the gym as the source. (This is VERY common at every gym and not everyone is highly reactive to this bacteria). I would be inclined to give this gym a 5/5 if the cleaning practices were a bit better (which they have improved dramatically over the past year) and their cleaning solution given to patrons was seemingly more effective.

The Y's Mission Statement reads: "Our Mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong families, and positive youth development to build healthy spirit, mind and body for all, regardless of ability to pay." Christian principles - nice if they are practiced. I wonder how this in the Mission Statement advertised principles are being practiced: How would you feel, if your daughter does volunteer work for a known organization on a cold , snow flurry/rain mix winter evening, dressed in a shirt, which shows the name of the organization she volunteers for, tactical pants and boots, holding a stethoscope in her hands, asking for not more then a 20 minute shelter time for her ride to pick her up, since her program was being shortened due to bad weather and being given just 10 minutes to stay warm in the main lobby? She even offered ID to proof, that she was until recent a member of the Y and to look it up, that she was telling the truth. How would you feel as a parent, if this would happen to your child, that even a stranger was offering her (female Y member) to wait in her car for the ride to arrive, because she felt sorry for my child in this environment and did NOT understand three people behind the counter not being busy and being engaged in personal business. When asked for a written statement about, how principals and mission statement are working together - I got the typical answer: Call we are happy to discuss - did I ask for a discussion? And what would this discussion really do? And I wonder why a written statement was being refused to be given?!? How can I send another kid of mine into programs from the Y, if they fail tremendously at one Christian Principle: Humanity

I like this one the best, the staff is really friendly and it makes everything better here. They do a good job at keeping things clean and they watch kids well at the pool too, courts usually able to shoot around not too busy too often.

New to Wichita and new to the Y, and I am blown away how nice both places are. We bring our little one for personal swimming lessons with Warren, who is so awesome with our four year old.

Love this Y location! Close to my house and job, nice people worried and always very clean. The only thing I wish is that it had more parking but they can’t really control that!

I strongly disagree with the statements made on your q&a about FARHA being specificly for organized sports. That would mean the teams are evenly grouped with the number of kids on each team. I had to say something after watching my kids teams only have the bare minimum number of kids as other teams had enough kids to make two or three teams. Like every ten mins the other coach would trade out his entire team so the kids just playing got to rest mean while the other team is forced to play the entire game or forfeit. It wasn't just one game it was the entire season definitely gave up my membership and no longer putting my kids in your sports. I would rather pay a sports association

I’ve been going to this gym for a little over 2 years since I moved back to Wichita. The gym is always clean and staff is always friendly. I’m however extremely thankful for the ladies who work in the kid zone Monday-Friday. My son is autistic and will only go to this gym daycare. They are extremely patient with him, communicate how he does and always make me feel at ease. 🫶

I have a membership and brought my son to play basketball and he end up playing with some other kids and gave the other kid the ball to play with and when we tried to leave they said theynwed the ball back so my son had to take it away from the kid just get his id back but the YMCA is about the kids I think that is crazy 😂😂

I enjoy the pool. Overall a great facility for year round fitness. Always busy , and a very diverse membership . I feel management does a good job considering.

KidZone staff is very interactive with the kiddos compared to other locations. Wish there was more availability as far as hours. Price point is somewhat high for families, but the facilities are always nice and clean.

The staff have been so helpful. I feel welcome and comfortable asking questions. The womens locker room is very clean and smells good. The smell is probably lotion and hair product but it is always nice. The exercise area has cleaning supplies and members keep the equipment clean.

Love the lap pool! There’s almost always an open lane. And Clarence the lifeguard has been so encouraging to my grandson and me. I really appreciate him!
