👍 The museum had plenty of interesting exhibits to look at, especially the Black community of Wichita. However, the inside of the museum felt more like an early 20th-century home than a typical museum. I hope to visit again once the new building opens in the near future. It was very nice but needed more content and exhibits but their limited space due to to the cities restrictions cn be seen. With the new future location my next visit I'm excited to see what will be presented...love the generous contributions and donations this museum has. Looking forward to the future.

Great spot to learn about important Kansas history. We enjoyed all of the art and the stories about individuals. We probably spent an hour there.

This museum is in a historic church in downtown Wichita. We used the Sunflower Summer app to enter and spent about two hours looking at the exhibits and talking to staff. They are a wealth of information on local, national and international issues. Be aware that parking is in a garage as there are only a few metered parking spots available in front.

Lots of art and artifacts from a range of time periods, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and educational activities for kids. TKAAM also validates parking if you park in the garage across the street!

Right next to the jail. You get to drive through hundreds of homeless people tweaking on the streets and fighting, so it’s a good show on the way up. You really get to see what Wichita has to offer as a really really safe clean city. Open air drug use and zombie people walking around. Great town!!

TKAAM is currently housed in Historic Calvary Baptist Church in downtown Wichita Kansas. The main gallery exhibit "Holler If You See Me: Black Appalachia" features the works of Shai Perry. On display May 18-September 30. The Kansas African American Museum takes you on a journey from Africa to Kansas with artifacts and art of the African Diaspora

Lots of pics and educational reading. The church became the museum which adds a layer of reality for me. The host/docent was gracious and helpful. I spent about an hour learning here.

Affordable stop. Overflowing with historical information about Black Americans Kansas with expected & unexpected spotlights on Black Kansans. Friendly staff with interesting personal histories will share helpful resources & biographies about any of the artists, entrepreneurs, athletes, or civic leaders in the exhibits.

Lots of history. People you've seen or heard about, I had no idea they had ties to Wichita or the state of Kansas. A great learning experience.

This is an amazing place to learn about black history and experience a historical site all at once. My elementary and middle school children loved it. They never learned anything like this in school. It was so empowering and educational. Brooke and Denise were wonderful. They taught my children so much. It is a place every school aged child should visit on a field trip to learn about not only black history, but the history of Wichita and the state of Kansas.

My sister and I had a great time, lots of things to look at. And the woman that works there is very good at her job, she would check in on us and answer any questions we had.
