The park is great, and close to grocery stores (in Goddard). It’s a perfect day lake, and even an overnight stay. The down side is the shower houses are terrible. They need reported to the health department, as they are public health hazards.

Love it here just wish people would clean up after themselves

We found the park to be clean and well equipped. The water was beautiful with many camping sites nearby. Restrooms were close to the campsites. The night we stayed was very quiet. Highly recommend.

Lake afton is my favorite lake nearby to go to. It's a smaller lake, and is never swarmed with people unless it's a holiday so you always get a nice set up with a bathroom and sometimes playground nearby. On the North side of the Lake, is a spot specially for fishing. On the south is for swimming & camping. They also have a convenience store that has some supplies in it as well.

We wanted to find a campsite, but all of the sites on the pennisula look like people live in their campers with junk thrown everywhere!!!! Would never recommend camping at lake afton. There are Much cleaner lakes to choose from. This "used" to be a really nice lake and camping area, but has gone downhill !!

I happened to stop by the east side of the lake for a sunset view the other evening. The lake has great north/south shores so it's ideal for sunset/sunrise photography if the sky is clear. It's within 30 minutes of where I stay while visiting Wichita so I can load up the camera and head out in relatively short time. There are quite a few picnic type areas from what I saw during the short stay, but I'll be back to look further. I want to try to get a sunrise picture or two next time.

Didn't know what to expect, just needed to get a quick campsite and was pleasantly surprised! Only wish I could have stayed a bit longer 😁

Really cool place to swim. Keep in mind your at a lake so waters not going to be clean. But $5 for a day permit (not bad at all) and they sell so much things from food to floaties in their general store. They have picnic tables and a place for RVs plus tents they also have some grills out there. They do have a huge area to swim on opposite sides of the lake. You can definitely spend a day here

Pretty sad when you pay to rent a building for the weekend that suppose to have HOT Water in the kitchen etc... and when you get there the place is FILTHY and dead bugs everywhere along with the outside of the building is rotting away. They definitely need to do some MAINTENANCE especially on the outside along with cutting DOWN all the dead trees surrounding the area, it's been that way for years.

Been going here since I was a baby will always be my go to lake, very clean, well maintained and even has areas for camping, swimming and boating. There are even places secluded from everyone if needed.

We were here for my son's XC race. It was a beautiful place.

Constant algae proplem can only get in water like 4 weeks out of the year. No hot water in showers

I helped the Wichita Radio control club sponsor and score the pylon races at Lake Afton, it was a lot of fun seeing the planes race at over 150mph

Really interesting, really well done. The people and the place are incredible. Thought this place was going to be a bit sus but definitely not the case. Everything is well kept, interesting and phrased in a way that can be understood. Plus the people act like old friends who are so passionate about explaining and showing complete strangers about the heavens. You definitely want to do this!

Nice place to go swimming with snakes... Lots of snakes hardly any fish.... Police are constantly out there for one reason or another.

We had a family function here and we rented one of the indoors facilities. Shelter #2. It was ok for the price. Very convenient located to swim area and restrooms. Would have liked better if it had a sink and restroom inside the building. But for the price it can't be beat. The small window ac unit appeared to keep room cool even with inn & out traffic. Outdoors grill & Refrigerator convenient. The only concern was the building appearance from the outside is in need of repairs. Water damage siding can be seen. Lots of cobwebs which shows a lack of exterior upkeep. On days they know facilities are going to be used you would think they would have facility clean inside & out. Other than that it was good. I would recommend

You people are nasty. Sedgwick county is doing nothing but keeping the funds. As for the staff great people they're the best. Everything else is Sedgwick county swamp and nasty people who can't put their trash in a can that's 10 feet away. The vandalism to the park property is unreal too. We all have to share this park. I have camped here since I was born. I have now moved from the corrupted swamp. Thanks to all the staff this is not to you. You guys were awesome.

Beautiful, calm, perfect for the family!

Nice close by lake. Enjoyed a hot private shower which was very much a surprise. Has swimming, boating. Fishing, and camping. Bummer on having to change campgrounds if planning a longer camp trip.

Had a great experience camping here. We caught some fish and swam.

Lake Afton is a very nice place to visit. It is very close to Wichita. There are several sites where one can enjoy the lake, fire and friends. That is also places to fish.

Lake is well maintained and available for various things to do, from fishing, boating, water sports, a RV airport and lots of camping spots. Both RV and premitive. There are only two dump stations and one area for water and electric; however several locations around the lake for RV electric only. Additionally, there are covered guys and shelters for rent. Overall, park is really a great place.
