We have bought all of our fish, fish tanks, stands and equipment here. We come here for anything we need for our fish tanks. The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to help! Great family owned business!

Every time my tanks need something, I'm so grateful I live close to Elmer's. They have helped me troubleshoot problems and provided only excellent quality livestock. Great store with knowledgeable staff who remain professional and courteous even when they are (frequently) very busy. The shrimp/betta tank in my photo was purchased, scaped, and stocked entirely via Elmer's; the plants and animals are healthy, happy, and beautiful! I love this store!

Your go to for fish and aquarium needs. Large store, lots of selection. They carry things for reptiles also. There were a lot of different stones and other decor in various sizes to decorate tanks with. Big selection of tanks and sets to get started. They probably have every kind of fish and fish food that anyone could possibly need. Every employee asked if we needed help and were polite. The only downside... the store smelled like cigarettes from someone smoking out of the back door and thats a rather gross experience for most non smokers.

I drove 2 hours to check this place out and I wasn’t disappointed. Everyone was very helpful and happy. I didn’t feel like I was bothering anyone with my questions because they were excited to help. I ended up purchasing a Seapora 90 gallon aquarium and some decor for it along with some needed maintenance supplies and food. This place is a must if you want friendly people and awesome selections to choose from. I couldn’t be happier with everything.

This store is an hour away from me, I stopped because I was in town for an event. Have bought good fish & shrimp here in other visits. Disappointed there were no chili rasboras, my most wanted fish. Asked for 2 each of different varieties to add to my stock in 3 tanks. My 2 ember tetras were caught while looking at something else. When I brought them home to float, 1 had a very crooked spine. The other is not an ember, but an unknown fish with a black spot on its dorsal fin. So very disappointed and there's no going back at this point.

Elmer's is amazing and I've been going here for roughly 12 years now. The employees clearly know what they're doing and I appreciate how willing they are to drop knowledge when asked. I've never once felt pressured to buy anything, nor do I feel like there's any upselling, just people passionate about fish and fish related things helping others do best for their tanks.

Great customer service. I placed an order over the phone for a complete saltwater setup. Steve was amazing. He answered all my questions and gave me a run down on how everything worked. Even recommended a place to get lunch. It was well worth the almost two hour drive. All the tanks were remarkably clean. I can't wait to go back for some corals and fish.

I get all of my fish here. Every time I’ve been here they have been helpful. One thing preventing a 5 star is that closing at 6pm during the week. It doesn’t leave enough time for people to come out after work during the week.

Got two nassarius snails with the little antennas since ninja passed. Great addition to our saltwater clean up crew. And a new watchmen Goby named Chase ( after Chase Elliot). He's fast luckily I found him in the sump when he wasn't coming out for 24 hours!! Looked back there and saw his little face looking back at us he's safe and sound and the sand is cleaner than ever! Elmer's is great I think that their corals have improved also.

I recently had two folks from Elmer's Aquarium come to my home and move 3 fish tanks. I have a 13 year old iridescent shark, named Princess, who is more than15 inches long. She is a part of our family. Princess' tank needed moved so we could have our floors refinished. Karen from Elmer's sent her A team, Steve and Kelly, to move the tanks. These people are not only some of the nicest people in the industry, they are truly caring. They were careful about every aspect of moving these tanks from taking special care of our pets to making sure they moved slowly and meticulously not to bang our walls. They even brought enzymes for the fish to make sure they were safe when they changed the water. They didn't leave anything to chance! These two folks worked as a team to get this huge project done. I couldn't have asked for more care. If you need ANYTHING fish related, Elmer's aquarium is the place to go! They are amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

If I can help it, I only purchase my fish, plants, and supplies from this store. Good prices for quality; can't argue with that. The staff are also super friendly and knowledgeable, and I really appreciate that.

Awesome place that has (probably) everything you need. Bought an 80 gallon frag tank from them recently and the sales person (I think her name was Sam) was super kind and accommodating when I went to pick it up. Before even finalizing the sale she let me check out the tank to make sure it was to my specifications and inspect it for any flaws, which was an awesome thing to do. When we were in the store it was pretty busy (should be another testament to how good of an operation they run) but the staff seemed to be doing an excellent job of coordinating and helping everyone. Just want to say again - Sam (fingers crossed I got that right) went above and beyond - give her a raise.

I absolutely love ts place the fish are amazing 👏 the staff super friendly and helpful. My fiance and I started with 1 tank we are now running 3 tanks hoping for a 3rd probably wouldn't be if we didn't get advice from the employees here we tried other stores and decided we sticking with Elmer's the tanks there are clean the fish happy for being beginners we have only lost 1 fish and that's awesome would have been worse if we didn't get the advice we needed so I recommend Elmer's over any other place

Elmer’s Aquarium is a special place full of caring people and beautiful aquatic life. The employees are genuine, patient, and knowledgable. The management is humble. This place is way better than Petco or Pet Smart any day. These corporations do not offer the quality or varieties of food, tank care, or aquatic species like Elmer’s Aquarium. But the employees make it even more special. As an amateur fishkeeper, I bombard these people with questions & I must annoy them to the fullest extent, but they bever show it. They are always happy to help. This is classic small business done right. I really love this store & the people in it. Everything in my betta sorority tank is from this store. Even the idea for this tank came from one of their show aquariums. I learn something new every time that I go.

I practically live here. I love this place. Every employee always treats me so nicely. Everyone here is always so helpful and knowledgeable. I have been shopping here for a long and don't plan to stop any time soon. I know I can always trust their advice when it comes to the health and well being of my fish. It's been a long a time since I've lost a newly purchased fish from them. I do quarantine and treat everything I buy but I would do the same if I purchased elsewhere as well. I have a high survival rate with Elmer's fish. They helped me with everything I needed to start breeding fish and have really good success with their help. Elmers will always be a second home to me and will always have my support. I would not be where I'm at in this hobby without the help of this store and their knowledgeable employees.

Elmer's is one of the few independent pet shops/aquariums still surviving amid the chain stores. There has to be a reason for their success. They have all the usual pet and aquarium supplies and the assortment of tropical fish is what brings me here. Fish are healthy, staff is plentiful and knowledgeable , it's a bit pricey but, to me, worth it for what they provide. They are willing to take special orders if you need anything that is not in stock¡

Awesome fish store. There's all kinds of fish here. Very knowledgeable staff and they are willing to help you out. They have a ticket system, which means that you may have to wait your turn if you want to pick out any animals. They have an amazing selection of exotic fish. Great place for a beginner to go shopping for fish and equipment. Prices are very reasonable as well. Highly recommend!

THE place for tropical fish in eastern Pittsburgh. Great selection, healthy fish, lots of live plants and attractive displays of a variety of tank set-ups. Worth the drive from South side now and then.

I've been here several times. They have knowledgeable staff and are very helpful. Just about anything you would need or want for your aquarium. Prices are appropriate. Wide selection of aquarium products for both salt and freshwater tanks.

I have been going to this store for past 10 years cuz I wanted to support local business. I was not happy with my last transaction. I bought a fish that is a finicky eater and made sure I had live food in my tank. But I asked the sales associate and another what's the guarantee on this fish and they told me full credit if anything happens within 24 hrs and 1/2 credit within 14 days. Took the fish home and it died within 20 hrs. Called and told them about it and the manger said it's only 1/2 credit and didn't know why the employee said that. Manager said he will make an exception this time and give me full credit for the fish and he'll put it in the notes for reference. Went next day and bought more fish and asked the same manager to apply the full credit towards the new fish. He said he can't do that and can only give me half credit again after insisting that he himself said he will make a exception. I left the store without buying anything n took the half credit in cash. Apparently after getting home I saw they didn't even give me half of $36.99 + tax.

Elmer's Aquarium and Pet Center is a great place to find a wide variety of freshwater fish at reasonable prices. They have a large selection of different species and the staff is always happy to help customers find the perfect fish for their tank. They also have a wide selection of aquariums and supplies to set up a successful planted tank, including everything you need to create a beautiful and healthy environment for your fish. Overall, I recommend Elmer's Aquarium and Pet Center to anyone looking for quality fish and supplies.

The best place to go for fish in the area. Great selection and friendly, knowledgeable staff everytime we have had questions. One of the owners helped us when we were setting up a larger aquarium with live plants and she was so kind and so generous with the time she spent with us.

  • 5/5 Chris W. 11 months ago on Google
Helpful employees. Overhead several conversations with other customers making sure they had the proper setup to support the fish they were interested in. I get the feeling they care about the fish. Quick to ask to assist every time I visit. Got several healthy goldfish and plants for my pond from this shop this spring. No complaints or health concerns. I know several of my co-workers trust Elmer's and it's easy to see why. Reasonable prices and easy to find what I was looking for.

This place is fabulous. Rehomed a fish that was too big for our modest tank and were so helpful. I wish I could remember the name of the girl who helped us pick out the inhabitants for our tank. She was so patient and answered all of our questions. Highly recommended

I've been here many times, but I have to actually write a review this time! We were looking to re-establish an aquarium, and went in to find out what we could populate our 10 gallon tank with. The staff is so knowledgeable! The things they taught us, and showed us are invaluable. They have me thinking bigger! Their selection is expansive. The fish are very healthy, and the store is clean. If you are a beginner or expert, this is THE place for aquarium lovers!

  • 2/5 Cooney F. 11 months ago on Google
Everything we bought from this place died (two shrimp, snail, frog and two types of plants). They were all put in an established tank! Beautiful place though with a ton of variety.

  • 3/5 Cassidi H. 11 months ago on Google
This was the most expensive aquarium store I ever been at!!! Don't stop here unless you plant to spend 500$+ on a tank, they have no turtles here which is why I stopped but many different varieties of fish and very cool to walk through, they have all your decorating needs and live aquatic plants. Definitely a neat store.

I love Elmer's. Staff are super knowledgeable and helpful. It seems they all really love what they do and are passionate about fish keeping. Their selection is huge and they will offer to get you fish if they don't keep them in stock.

I drove about 2 hours to get there and it was 100% worth it! The tanks were clean, the fish were healthy, and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable! They also had a fantastic variety of fish and I felt like the prices were fair. I will definitely be coming back!

Love this shop. Tanks are crystal clear. Lots of stock and variety. We stop every time we go to Monroeville. Bought around 25 fish the last time there mainly different tetras and they all have been doing well. Only had 3 die which isn't bad considering the hour long ride and new environment.

My husband bought 2 angel fish $20.00 a piece. 1st off we live out by Greater Pittsburgh Airport. He brought them home waited tge time before putting in tank. The next morning they were dead. My husband calls the manager gave trouble & said they would only give 1/2 our money back. The manager tried to say that the barb's stressed them out. If that's the case then the person who sold them to my husband doesn't know what he's doing. Anyone thinking of buying fish from here should just go to petsmart.

Covid 19 procedure meant only 22 customers could enter at a time, so there was a line. However it was somewhat worth the wait as they had a decent selection of fish, plants, and very good deals on aquariums. The 1 negative was the employee who helped us...we had to take a number and wait to be served essentially. So when our turn came we had questions about a couple shrimp species and fish. The employee was not helpful, agitated, and essentially told us we needed to know what we want prior to getting a number. Also they served people without numbers before those of us who got numbers
