One of the best botanical gardens I have ever visited. We arrived in the morning and we got lucky with the weather. The indoor gardens are very well maintained and the outdoor park is really beautiful with a lovely cottage, a butterfly's house and the oldest lawn tennis club in the world. I definitely recommend it for a relaxing day amongst plants of all sorts.

A beautiful 🤩 place to spend a relaxing day🌻Well kept gardens and healthy looking fauna 🌳 Lots to see and do for all the family. The weather was overcast and wet 🌧️ which was a shame. It's lovely to see that there's lots of activities going on, including concerts and theatre shows 🎋which look fun and are very reasonably priced 💷

Really enjoyed our visit, there's live music on Sunday, the parking ticket can be purchased while you buy the entry ticket. It's £3 all day The best part is that you don't need to put the ticket in your car, you just need to enter your registration number on the machine once you go past the entry gates. They have an area for birds, children play area for all age groups, beautiful ponds and a tea room.

Great place to visit, even if your not into horticulture. Nice for children to explore around, especially a kind of big garden with a deep pool, looks Jurassic. Nice cottage with herb garden, cottage not open though... really nice cafeteria , and an ice cream hut outside... Please be aware you can only use card payment in the whole place, even for ice creams. They hire out different halls for weddings and corporate events. Great for photos outside.

We visit Birmingham Botanical Gardens every now and then. Every season has its own unique beauty. There's parking available for £3 for non-members or free for members or blue badge holders. It's pushchair friendly, has playgrounds for all ages. There's plenty of plants and flowers to see, also lots of birds. We didn't see the peacocks this years tho. There was a bird who was imitating sounds; my son had lots of fun with it. We love exploring, so we take lots of time to check every corner of the gardens. Our kids found a badger hole, they were very excited by the size of it. They also found a pineapple plant and lime and lemon trees, also olive trees, ponds, etc. They loved it there. We'll definitely visit again.

Loved it. It's worth the money you pay. Incredibly well maintained. will definitely suggest for having functions. It's just so pretty. Lots to walk around and see. Went in the rain and during winter. It was still pretty. Can't wait to visit again when it's spring. They also have light show which I believe has to be on different tickets as garden closes at 4. Latest entry is by 3.30. they also have souvenir shops where you can grab some house plants or some fancy stones. Overall lovely experience and can't complain.

Really lovely, disabled-friendly place. You can even hire an electric scooter for a refundable deposit of £50, or your car keys! Brilliant idea. Lovely staff, good toilets & good cafe. Really recommend!! 🖤🖤🖤

Spent a wonderful afternoon at the Botanical Gardens. The staff were extremely pleasant to a (wo)man, from the reception, to the Pavilion, to the shop. Working in such a breathtaking place must put you in a fab mood. The flora and fauna on show are too diverse to single out any one genus. But, if forced to pick a favourite, the sheer size of the leaves around one tucked away pond in the fern garden would shade it 🤭 From cacti to bonsai and everything in between, the Botanical Gardens has the lot. And it's all on view to take in at your leisure as you stroll around the 25 acre site. But the work behind the scenes should also get a mention, in the nursery and to maintain the birds 🐦 and butterflies 🦋 on show. The Pavilion offers reasonable priced snacks, whilst maintaining safety and quality. There's a great little park for kids. And we spent a fortune in the shop on the way out, convinced as I was (at the time) that I now won't kill house plants within hours of them crossing the threshold. 🤔 Great value, and great place to wile away a lazy day in summer.

Simply amazing. Get your kids out to places like this often. Come again as always. It pays well to be a member. Always something to learn regardless of age… amazing kids play area too. Day well spent anytime

Actually it's a great botanical gardens with lots of interesting areas. It sits on a sloping aspect with views of the city beyond. Very well laid out with something for everyone. The Bonsai trees are amazing, but easily missed if you don't follow the map. I was a little bemused by the ladies on reception. They were quite detached and unwelcoming. However, this did not spoil the main attraction.

I think I'll add myself to all the other thousand of amazing people who enjoyed their time here. You can take 50 million photos and still not be enough of this fabulous natural garden. I loved the whole experience. It's highly worth the money you pay. The staff all throughout the garden do an amazing job to keep it well maintained. I noticed a lot of wedding couple here coming for their photoshoots. It's just so natural. You will do a lot of walking around; so good to say to wear strong footwear. They also have other functions going on throughout the year. This tome was the music festival of the 1920's. The last entry is around 3.30pm. There's also a cafeteria which do some amazing cakes and tea. Not too expensive too. To end the tour, they had a souvenir shop which you can buy various small gifts, bags etc or like a small house plants or some fancy stones. Overall, it was a lovely experience and can't complain.

Wasn't bad. There were some lovely plants and trees which we were, of course, expecting, but I didn't read the description before going so I didn't know there were birds there. It was nice seeing them and "talking" to the parrots. Some of the areas were closed off, we had members of our group needing to use the toilet which was also closed, that was inconvenient, and their tea room didn't have much of a variety, usually vegan options, what they did have wasn't the best, however, it's a nice place for mature/plant lovers. The gift shop was okay and they also sell plants. There are some beautiful spots and good to pass some time.

Sunday visit to these beautiful gardens, entered at around 11am, not busy at this point. Explored the gardens, green houses and tropical plant houses. All very accessible to wheel chairs and buggys. Haven't visited in such a long time but lots more to see and do then i remember, large play areas for the kids and band entertained us from the band stand in the afternoon while we sat on the lawn near the cafe. Only negative from the entire visit was the queues at the cafe, couldn't be helped as it was very busy by 1pm when we visited. Can't wait to visit again in the future.

This place is full of natural beauty for the whole family to enjoy anytime of the year.If you looking for a nice day out with the family or friends then I recommend botanical gardens as a place to go ,allowing you to be one with nature, with food available if you feeling peckish with a good menu range to choose from. Definitely a fun day and adventurous day for the whole family, reasonably price so it doesn't break the bank, and am sure you would return to this beautiful landscape again and again.

Visited these beautiful gardens for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed. Had a lovely day. My 10 year old daughter loved exploring all the different areas. Great place for a relaxing afternoon and young children will love exploring this place. Nice area for picnics. Gift shop is lovely and my daughter loved spending her pocket money in there. Very beautiful place. Nothing bad to say.

The Birmingham botanical garden is a great place to visit on a holiday. We went there for an official event (A graduation ball). This was held in one of the big halls at the centre of the garden complex. There is ample car parking and if you are taking a cab, you can get dropped right at the entrance. The place has a large variety of flora with appropriate markings and descriptions. If you are planning a formal meet or event, this is the most ambient place you can suggest in the whole of Birmingham. At night gardens are illuminated with colourful lights and the whole place uplifts your mood with the cool winds and clean air.

We attended as part of Birmingham Heritage Week so we got free entry. Prior to going, I had not been as I felt what am I paying this price for to see a bunch of flowers?! However having now attended, I can appreciate all the garden has to offer and would definitely go back as a paying customer. One could easily spend a whole day here viewing the gardens, enjoying a nice picnic, spotting butterfly’s and of course, viewing all the different plants from around the world.

Terrible customer service and don't trust logging your car registration. I received £100 fine 4 months after coming here and came as a guest of a member. Despite sending numerous emails and making phone calls to customer service to help me quash this, they have made no effort to get back to me, so I now have had to pay the fine. Don't bother going as you will have a very expensive visit and won't find out until months later.

Worked in the kitchens but had a chance to walk around the beautiful gardens. This place is breathtakingly beautiful with its beautiful picturesque scenery with a chilled relaxing atmosphere. The indoor gardens have different varieties of plants 🪴 and flowers 💐. The venue is a wonderful place for receptions, functions, meetings with an excellent kitchen and restaurant staff, who cook beautifully flavoursome Food. There are some awesome beautiful places in England and the Botanical Gardens is one of them.

I spent a wonderful day here in admiration of the beautiful flowers and gardens. The plants were amazing inside and outside the glasshouses. The variety is truly tremendous you will not be disappointed. The gardens were spectacular and well cared for. The Italian Cedar tree was a wonderful sight to behold. Gorgeous tree lined paths weaving in and out of glorious planted beds. The aviary area was lovely and a nice surprise to see animals well cared for within clean safe enclosures. You can easily see they care about the birds by how healthy they appear. The Koi Carp were a sight to behold and also well cared for and catered to. The staff are warm and welcoming and they are all around the park planting weeding and making it look great. The coffee shop was equally excellent! I had one of the best cups of fresh coffee with a scrumptious cupcake. The cake was fresh soft and filled with chocolate chips. The coffee shop staff were accommodating helpful and make me want to return. An amazing day thank you Birmingham Botanical Gardens for a perfect day.

Good place for a family day out. Younger children will enjoy the play areas, fish, birds and the peacocks 🦚 were a surprise. Was raining intermittently when we went, but we still managed a good afternoon tea in the cafe. Kids enjoyed it overall.

My issue is with there parking system. I brought a parking ticket and still received a parking charge in the post !!!! I remember when i brought my parking the ticket , the botanical garden receptionist where i brought my parking ticket from, warned me to make sure i keep hold of my parking ticket for 3 months , she said it with a serious tone which i thought was strange ! From this i am gathered that Botanical Gardens have a parking issue. Please read on. Luckily i kept hold of the ticket as 1 month later i received a parking charge of the ridiculous amount of £100.00 . As i had brought a ticket , i rightly appealed the charge and provided evidence of my receipt ! The company Civil Enforcement , strangely rejected my appeal, so now i found myself in the position of having to appeal the appeal , using my valuable time, to get justice ! Civil Enforcement said they have rejected my appeal, that i have to appeal there decision with a separate online company called Popla, the issue is still pending and i am hoping that these people do the right thing. I am just warning you that if you are planning on visiting Botnical Gardens with family , do not trust there parking system.

Lovely gardens not far from the city centre. Parking is available and not expensive to enter. Sufficient space for picnics. I'd suggest taking your own food as cafe has a minimal offering that doesn't accommodate for all diets etc. Weather permitting, you'll have a nice couple of hours walking and discovering the gardens.

Great gardens, lovely & relaxing, especially in good weather. Was disappointed with the chicken tikka masala today. Ordered it for my mother & myself & when it arrived it was "decidedly cool", took it back & they redid it, but again when it arrived it was still cool & the chicken was cold in the middle. Staff were extremely apologetic, gave a full refund & gave us the fish & chips. All was PIPING HOT & the batter on the fish is among the crispiest I've EVER had, anywhere. Shame about the CTM as we both enjoy that & have NEVER had an issue with it before. Thank you to the staff for sorting it out.

If you’re ever looking for something fun and educational for the family, this is a wonderful place to start. We were amazed at the various displays of plants that were labelled with the correct botanical names. There is also a massive area in the event you’d like to have a picnic, however it may not be permitted as the grounds are immaculate and there is a cafe and also a souvenir store all on the grounds. And a must see is the Peacock I’m not sure if it’s only one that’s on the premises however she is quite friendly and will even give you a photo opportunity. There are several areas on the grounds to take pictures. However taking pictures with the Peacock is a winner!

Tickets were really cheap, especially for students! Great place to visit if you are touring Birmingham as a local or a foreigner. Also a great place for kids, they have some amazing playgrounds! We loved the butterfly house, although I wish it was bigger! I know that's probably a funding issue though. Still magical, all the same! Supporting the gardens is so easy when they have an amazing gift shop! Very wide variety of gifts, garden equipment, and souvenirs. We bought a lovely teapot and mugs. Very reasonable prices, best I've ever seen at a gift shop that nice. In addition, the staff was wonderful and so kind. Thank you for all your hard work and for making this beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Had the most incredible day out. I live quite deep in the city and often struggle to find green space to take in nature and relax. This was more than expected, huge grounds, beautiful well kept spaces, the sounds, the smells were just perfect. I would recommend. Ticket was £7.50 for a day pass

Interesting place - good value for money. Family of 2 adults & 3 children £21.50. The green houses are lovely, although smaller than I’d imagined. The play area is quite big & good for toddlers up to about 10 year olds. The gardens are beautiful, but we felt they needed a little more care…although I am aware we are just out of the winter season. The aviary also stood out as needing some attention. Cafe was very busy & pricey, but the cake & coffee was delicious. Garden centre was lovely…bespoke gifts, plants, children’s pocket money toys, jewellery etc. Parking is £3 - it’s not a big car park so I imagine at busier times it gets full. Over all we stayed 2.5 hours.

We visited on Saturday, its incredibly accessible from the town centre, you could walk there or just take the tram and walk 10mins. There is a car park and was a wedding on which didn't prevent other guests from enjoying the facilties. There were plenty of mobility chairs at reception if you needed to wheel anyone around. From the entrance you go through several tropical rooms with koi and exotic plants. You can then walk outside and follow various paths round the edge of the path. To the left is a cafe serving nice coffee with indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of recycling bins. There is a bandstand and an aviary with birds who I'm sure were well looked after. But I question keeping birds in a cage unless for Conservation purposes. Lots of winding paths through pleasing planted areas down to a butterfly house. It's pretty small and we spotted several lovely butterflies. We did a circle back around a beautiful pond, the fern garden was closed but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. It did remind me a little of Cambridge botanical Gardens. We spent about 1.5hrs which incl 20 sheltering from the showers with a coffee. Its worth a visit.

Had a lovely day here with friends and our 2 kids (2 & 5). Staff were lovely, gardens are stunning & kids playground area is fab. A great day out for those that live all things botanical or looking for things for the kids. My daughter was obsessed with the indoor pond of huge koi carp I think we went back to it 4 times in our visit!

  • 4/5 Alexander B. 2 years ago on Google
So we probably went at a bad time as the seasons are about the change but the displays looked very old and there was clear over growth in some of the areas. The kids parks are a big win with the little ones and the tea rooms also looked popular (although we didn't stop in) The butterfly House (although just a large greenhouse) is big enough to have a few picture of butterfly and to learn a bit about them. Parking is £2 for non members but we got no sticker and didn't get asked for our reg so there is zero chance they are actually monitoring this!

The event was beautiful and received warm welcome. We all had chocolates left on the seats. I gave mine away being vegan but what a lovely touch! The Sekine quartet were so talented and played the best of Hans Zimmer and the stage being raised made views even better. The atmosphere was wonderful and would definitely recommend this venue.

Great experience within the heart of the city centre. Great place to sight see, relax at a leisurely pace and enjoy the sights and sounds of the live bands and nature. Something like this would be best to enjoy on a hot summers day as it’s a beautiful place to be. It’s not a big as I expected but it’s also makes a good option to spend with family and friends

The garden provide a tranquil and immersive experience, it offers educational value with informative signage and is suitable for families, nature enthusiasts, and those seeking solace in nature. This hidden gem is a respite from city life, offering a rejuvenating escape into the embrace of the natural world. It also had Japanese Gardens, Rose Gardens, Tropical Rainforest and Greenhouses.

Defenitely a place worth to visit. Amazing colours, not at all noisy despite being close to the city centre and you can encounter a peacock or two every now and then or a parrot saying "hello". The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it looks a bit neglected, especially the area with historical gardens (Roman and middle-age). Nevertheless I will come back in spring because I think it is indeed worth to come back again and spring/autumn seems like the perfect time of the year for a visit.
