Amazing place for flight enthusiasts. There is so much knowledge one can gain by visiting this museum, about war planes right from when it was made by wood, all the types of communication devices that were used. Great place for all age types. Place is well maintained and worth spending a whole day reading up about all the things used during World War.

We had a fabulous time at the Aviation Heritage Museum. I’ll try to keep this short. Visited with a 2.4yr old and 5m old baby. The toddler had a blast. Reasons to visit/things to see: There are interactive displays, like a helicopter you can sit in, push the button and the rotor blades spin, a small plane they can climb into and “fly” - they are also working on some virtual reality displays that you can sit in and fly for the kids. There are two hangars, the far one with military memorabilia and aircrafts. In between the two are seated tables for you to sit and feed the kids or take a break. The people are so friendly and knowledgeable and patient with the kids. Hygiene and convenience: The change table area (while not fancy) was better equiped then most of the play centres around Perth! I’d forgotten our change mat — no worries, spares underneath. I’d also forgotten disposable nappy bags, no worries, spares under the change table too. There was also a wooden busy block play toy in the change table area so you can keep your toddler busy while you attend to the baby. It was also super clean! And the tables outside (despite the bad windy and rainy weather) were also super clean. The toddler stopped to eat his lunch and I swear, I ran my finger over that table 3 times and there was not one ounce of dust on it! You could literally eat off the table.

This has so much more in it than I ever imagined. Highly recommend. Work every dollar of the entry fee. The volunteers are lovely and knowledgeable. I loved this place and so did my kids. Lots of interactive things for the kids to enjoy while the adults explore. What a treasure to have this museum in our backyard.

This museum sits just off Leach Highway. You enter through the gates of the Air Force Memorial Estate and find your parking directly outside the first hangar on your right, near the replica Spitfire. Entry is around $10. There is a vast array of planes and all sorts of related paraphernalia to do with both military and civilian aviation. You can ask for a guide or just wander through yourself. I would recommend taking at least an hour. Very good for kids with an interest in planes and/or history.

Place with rich history. Entry fee is only $10. Worth a trip if you love planes and passionate about military. Plenty of parking and easily accessible either by train or drive.

A lovely display of Aviation History. The staff were so welcoming and kind, the display was way larger than we were expecting and such a big variety also. 10/10 Highly Recommend.

Very interesting. Large variety of planes. Was hot the day we went (41 degrees) so closed early because the builng got to hot. Everything from an old biplane to modern jets.

As an avid aviation buff, I often drag my wife to places like this. We had a great time here and stayed for hours and even my wife said she didn't get bored! The knowledgeable staff were very friendly and happy to chat and there were heaps of interesting displays. Highly recommend!

Absolutely had a magnificent time, seeing all the history in Australia's aviation. Rather impressed with the Lancaster. My son did a flight simulator in a Macchi Advance Air Trainer and enjoyed it immensely

Had the best time here! Great display of historic and not-so-historic aircrafts. We even got a discount at the entrance without asking for it. Some of the volunteers have an actual connection to the exhibits and are very interesting to talk to – I highly recommend doing so. You might even be granted access to the closed off insides of some aircrafts. Don't forget the hangar with the F-18 and Tornado GR4, it's easy to miss.

Definitely a must visit for aircraft or history buffs. Lots of information and exhibits dating back to the start of aviation. Housed in 2 hangars and then some, it'll be a worthwhile couple of hours going through each exhibit. There's also a couple of simulators and cockpit/hatches for kids to go in to fiddle around with the controls. Plenty of photo worthy shots. Will be back!

Staff friendly, both sheds stuffed wall to wall. I took a star off (not their fault) they really need a bigger shed or extension to space out planes and props because at the moment it is hard to take good photos and really take in the history and info etc. So come on wa Gov give them a little Grant for extension. Keep up the good work guys.

Highly recommend, Lancaster tour is a must. There are not many places in the world left where you can see and tour on these. Take the opportunity before they all disappear

There are lots of cool things to see here. Good for all ages, but keep an eye on your kids. The F/A-18B and Tornado are awesome to see up close and personal. Had a guided tour at an earlier date, including inside the C-47 and Lancaster. Things to note: Mind your head! There are several low headroom areas It can get quite hot during the warmer months, especially in the Northern hangar.

There are quite a lot of planes from different eras and also tons of old artefacts with their own lore and how they came into show in this museum. You can spend an entire day looking around and reading the lores. All the staff there are volunteers, and they are very friendly. The price is considered good for how many planes and artefacts are there, with $15 for adults and $7.5 for children.

If you're into aviation, and especially war planes, you must visit here. Its a paid self walking tour of all collections of aviation related things. From war planes to morse codes to air traffic control to airlines, this place has it all. Don't expect much modern planes as most of the displayed pieces are pre 90s. This place is wholly managed by volunteers. Parking is free and available right infront of the museum.

What an amazing Museum! Great place to take the kids filled with planes from WW1 and WW2 and factual information you just never knew. Highly recommend to families with young children and relatively inexpensive. The guides are actually servicemen and woman who are more than happy to talk to you about the museum.

If you are Asian, look like an Asian or travelled recently, do not ever come here. The staff were racist and rejected us because my family looked Asian. I was on a 5 day trip in Perth and this place was the only place I was looking forward to. I had a huge liking for ww2 aviation and this place just wants it to die down. Worse place ever. Do not come here. Wish I could give this zero stars

If you have any interest at all in aviation, you'll love this place. It's worth taking the time to chat with the volunteers, who are all incredibly knowledgeable. Today I did the tour of the Lancaster Bomber, something I've wanted to do for years and never got around to, even though it's only ten minutes from where I live. Why did I wait? I had so much fun, crammed into those tiny spaces, with not a moment of boredom in a tour that ran for over an hour and a half. Highly recommended. If you want the tour, only two or three can go, so it's worth booking ahead. If you're not bothered, you can turn up, but be aware it can get busy and hot in summer, so mornings are better.

These guys are obviously aviation addicts! Their passion for all of the aircraft and their knowledge of the events in which they were used etc etc just emanates and is contagious. When you walk in, you can't help your jaw dropping with the magnificent displays of aircraft tiny and massive set up expertly for easy and thorough inspection, both inside and out. I am not an aircraft enthusiast but was given this voucher as a present so I attended assuming it would be a boring afternoon. How wrong I was. Completely awe-inspiring! I recommend anyone to visit.

I visited from interstate. Decent collection of aircraft and really friendly volunteers. Highlight aircraft include a PBY Catalina, DC3, Machi, Canberra, UH1 and the Panavia Tornado (though it was fenced off when I was there - check the website for updates). The last one is the only one in Australia. The Lancaster is pretty special and there is a viewing platform from above that you should not miss (take the stairs at the side)! I was really impressed at the different ways of involving visitors - there is a VR experience, open cockpit and specific tours. As I was short on time, I wasn't able to try these. There is a dedicated learning space for the kids. I was staggered at the amount of models on display too. Only downside is that I visited in summer and the sheds do get quite hot. There is a note on entry they close on really hot days so call ahead. Highly recommended for any aviation buff.

We visited the Aviation Heritage Museum which has a collection of civil and military aircraft. The largest aircraft on display is the Avro Lancaster, which has a side door open where we can look into the fuselage. There are a couple of Spitfires, DC3, Bell Huey chopper, Sopwith Camel, Tornado fighter and even a PBY Catalina here. There are many detailed exhibits with interactive features. Great for a two hour visit to learn more about the history of aviation.

Absolutely wonderful collection that is well displayed. The Volunteers and Staff are super friendly, and provide you much information when needed, and are happy to take your photos too. This Museum although RAAF, also has many models, uniforms and nostalgia for the Commercial aviation buff. And the Air Traffic Control booth from the old Perth Airport Control Tower. With live Air Traffic feed from the current tower. They sell aviation books and other Airline related material at the gift shop. Highly recommended to visit for any plane nerd.

What a great museum to visit. In comparison I recently travelled to Queensland and spent time at the Qantas founders museum. This Aviation heritage museum is as good as that and has a lot more to look at. What a credit to the volunteers who have created such an informative and detailed museum. I will surely return as you can easily spend the better part of a day there. Would be nice if they had a cafe though as a coffee would have been nice

Amazing place to go with the kids. Lots of planes on display and on some of them kids are allowed to go inside. My boys loved to go up the platform in the second warehouse and see all the planes from up high. When we were done, we found a really nice RAAFA cafe nearby and it was just a perfect place for a break. Overall it was a great day and we highly recommend to visit!

Very well curated museum with some of the most unusual aircraft that have been found. 1 of my uncles, Brian Walker, was a volunteer here. He encouraged us to go, but I only just managed to find the time. And I found his name upon a memorial board. When I saw the Model aeroplanes, NASA exhibit and the Corunna Downs diorama with the City of Perth Squadron Liberators, I thought straight off, that uncle Brian probably had something to do with these... Museum covers virtually everything from balloons to Skylab that flew over WA. If there's anything I'd swap, it'd be the Lancaster for a Liberator, since we flew the later from WA rather that the former, but the Lancaster is an impressive plane none the less.

Top place. It truly is a credit to the staff and volunteers, both current and the many years past. A huge amount of history. A must-visit museum for aviation lovers. Great value for the entry fee. The special tours/VR experience may be overpriced though (I didn't book one personally), especially if compared to the HMAS Ovens tour in WA Maritime Museum.

Great little air museum. A Catalina and Lancaster on display show how big these planes really were. Lots of interactive exhibits. The VR section was being upgraded with 4 different scenes. Lots of background to all displays made it a very interesting visit.

Fantastic hidden secret of a museum. The entry is cheap but the tours are expensive, however the cost is fully justified for enthusiasts - where else can you be guided by an airforce vet through a Lancaster and sit in each of the crew's seats?

The volunteers are lovely and made the experience interactive and enjoyable. Was able to pick up a build-it-yourself model plane in the gift shop! Thank you for a wonderful visit! *Also - I was very impressed with the COVID-19 precautions here. Probably the best and safest managed precautions I have experienced during the pandemic. Plentiful hand sanitiser, separate entry/exit, social distance with queues, etc. It is great to see. Well done!

1st thing after I entered the humble gate is WOW. Such an awesome place full of thousands of different types and aircrafts and stories. The place may be a bit old but it’s very well maintained. So proud to have this museum in WA. My 4.5 and 1.5 year old are amazed too, so if you’re questioning if this place is suitable for kids, YES! Just make sure they don’t get too excited and go over the fence to ride on every plane. Also, they have a helicopter for the kids to experience and take picture. And some stairs to get up to the entrance of the aircraft to checkout the interior. Museums have 2 parts, the second building located building is even wow. There’s a staircase for the lookout (unfortunate not for prawn or wheelchair so I parked my pram downstairs and walked up, easily). No regret at all taking my kids there today. Highly recommended.

The aviation heritage museum is the best place in Perth to learn about aviation, the planes that conquered the skies, and the people who did it. Covering not only military, but also the rich civilian side of humans dream to touch the skies, you won't have enough time to see it all in one go, or talk to the people who made it possible. With new management the museum has also come to deliver a new and improved experience, with a much more hands on approach than before, with kids being able to, and encouraged to enter and explore a handful of different aircraft, and an bird has whispered to me that pretty soon a entirely unique VR experience will be available for those with a taste for flight. An amazing experience has just been made even better, so head on in!
