Visited 2 days ago - nice place to learn about nature will definitely return. They do have animals and there is a huge sign saying why those animals are there. They were injured and cannot survive in the wild. Someone posted they were “prisoners” - please read about places before you accuse them of being abusers😤

BEAUTIFUL area! One of the best places just outside of Chicago to go for a walk, or visit the nature museum and see some animals. Breathtaking in autumn with all the Fall colors!

Interesting museum & amazing trail with abundance of wild life wandering freely around the trail. I saw deers, and coyotes. Also in the museum’ yard they keep injured animals in cages for kids. That includes hawks, turkeys, turtles, fox etc.

Great place to take a little walk around in nature. The animals outside (They have a coyote, owls, and a hawk) are neat to check out. And then you can go inside to check out the main floor of the historic house turned nature center. Great fun for ALL ages.

Really great place to take kids year-round. In the winter, you can see the reptiles inside, in the summer you can explore the outside garden and animal cages.

Part of the Central District of the Cook County Forest Preserves, Thatcher Woods is the most natural Flora in all the Forest Preserves in Cook County. Much of the area was never farmed and is a fine example of Oak Savannah left Illinois. Visit the Trailside Museum to find different activities run year round.

We love taking our grandchildren here. So much to explore inside and out. Some of the hawks and owls can be visited in their large outdoor cages. Inside, there are many animals to view. Lots of animal toys to play with. Our kids just love spending time at this unique, interactive museum/learning resource.

This is a great museum to bring kids to let them know more about our beautiful nature! They offer educational programs such as Field trips and it is free, I will definitely check their site as advised by their staff. The building is old but well-maintained and clean. There are animals outside like owls, hawk and turkey, and inside the building we were able to check reptiles, snakes, turtles and many more. We really enjoyed our tour and our guide is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Such a nice place. I love walking around the pond and then seeing their animals. Few owls, a fox and they also have some reptiles and amphibians inside.

Love the walking around and the animals are fun for the kids to see. The fox was out and about in its enclosure which is not always the case and the turkey vulture was sunning with its wings all spread out. Both were cool for the kids to see today!

Very nice nature center with lots of hands-on learning opportunities for kids. They also have an assortment of programs for all ages. The walking trails are very well maintained.
