Do yourself a favor and check out the Y! I honestly cannot overstate how much the membership there has benefited my family. I watch my 3-year-old son everyday from 2pm onward, after work. They have a kids zone that he now refers to as "going to play with his friends" and without fail, asks for daily. From 5pm-8pm M-TH, he gets to play, I get to workout/have some time by myself to destress from the day. His social skills continue to improve, he is wonderfully taken care of by the staff at the location and I enjoy the obvious health benefits to both of us, from the increased time spent active. Very affordable, and since my son is 3, being a member helps reduce the cost of him going to Preschool, there. All-in-all, this location is a clean, well-ran facility that I am very glad to have in my community!

No mention when signing up, they require masks and vaccination. I had swim lessons when I was a kid, was trying to put my 6 year old in swim lessons. They lost a lifetime customer. We will never go back, even if they reverse their ridiculous policy.

We were in town on vacation for a few days and my sons wanted to play basketball. I contacted the office and Laura was so inviting, pleasant and helpful. We spent some time with Kareem on the basketball courts. Every person we met was friendly. I highly recommend this YMCA!

This used to be a nice place but they need to update the showers. It is incredibly dirty in the family showers with so much hair. Their was poop found in one of the men’s lockers. The pool isn’t really clean and the lifeguard there is a bit intense. The equipment here is nice but there strict on teens using it. Their is a rock wall but it is not open all the time. Under the rock wall there are some cushions for gymnastics which is a nice touch. The basketball courts are great along with the small track field installed. The daycare they provide is nice but is not open all the time. Overall 3/5 I just think they need to update the shower system so people make less filth.

This place is awesome. It’s really big and has a whole lot of gym machines, basketball and volleyball courts, run track, swimming pool!! Love it and it is so clean and cozy!

Great staff who are very friendly. For the price they offer the best amenities in the area. Pay more elsewhere and get more. They are updating but strength training equipment is not maintained and kept up well. Youth / young men playing basketball often vape in facilities, play loud and vulgar music, and are given not even a wrist slap. The pool availability is not ideal. Still I wouldn’t go to any other local gym for the same level of satisfaction. They just need to keep the C culture in force here as much as nation wide.

The pool smells very strongly and is not conducive to anything other than lap swimming. While kids are really not allowed almost any place but the basketball courts, it is still somehow allowed for people to blare highly inappropriate music in the only court with short hoops.

I've been a member at the Indian Boundary YMCA a while now but didn't start visting regularly until this summer. The facilities are always very clean and organized. I primarily use the weight room, and machines, it's a nice layout and I almost never have to wait on equipment. The staff are very friendly and remember my name when I come in, and the other members are very nice as well - willing to spot or work in on sets.

Got kicked out of the YMCA for being Hispanic with my family after we were told to have a good time in the pool we were told to get out because the pool side where we were at got dirty so the logo told us to leave the pool

Great facility for kids and adults alike. My kids love the play room while I get to enjoy the variety of fitness classes offered. We also love using open swim especially during the winter months. Staff is always so warm and welcoming and facility is clean. I’d highly recommend!

Been a member since 1998 and I love everything about the Y. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, like family. I gained control over my overall health, well being and fitness and I attribute this squarely with the Indian Boundary YMCA! Love it!

Joining the Indian Boundary YMCA has been one of the greatest decisions I’ve made growing up in Downers Grove. This place is the definition of community and great people of all ages. I’ve been a member at places like Xsport Fitness before and there’s not really a feel of comfort and community. I’ve made so many great friends growing up through the YMCA environment and they really do offer a wide range of things. I started there just to exercise. Soon I picked up basketball, lifting with the nice trainers, swimming, the offered classes, etc. They even have great summer camps if you have kids. The very welcoming environment is great for beginner exercisers and you’ll feel welcomed with open arms. Even for more advanced people, they have a great facility. The holiday parties they have, like Halloween for the kids, are always a great time too. You can’t go wrong here.

They have excellent programs especially for children. Highly recommended for after school care as well as summer day camp! My children have never been picked up without telling me what an awesome time they had along with naming all the various and unique experiences they had that day! Highly recommended!!!

Clean, well maintained facility. Used this facility for a large group fitness event and nearly every room was utilized. Looking forward to our return.

The front desk staff is friendly, the price is reasonable and it’s an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere.

I’m from Out of state and have used this while several times when visiting family. The staff is extremely pleasant. The pool is Sparkling clean. The locker rooms are swept and wiped down continually. I saw a woman doing it every time I was there. They even have a spinner for your swimsuit so it’s almost dry immediately.

Love this place! It doesn't have the shampoo and deodorant like Lifetime, but we love the pool here. It is also easy to get on the machines and they have what we need, from treadmills, to weight machines, to free weights. They also have an area we can play badminton if we bring our racquets. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great atmosphere! Lots to offer! We took a tour, the front desk is very helpful. Laura answered all our questions- we’ll be back to sign up!

Family swim is so affordable and such a great break from the weather. Keep in mind you do have to show proof of vaccination for anyone if age to enter. Right now that means 5 and up.

Nice place to bring your child for so much for them to do. My 17 year old nephew loves to play basetball.

Stay away. Several other reviews show a similar experience to mine: they will take your money without giving the services promised. We joined in mid-August and signed up our child for swimming lessons. I was charged for lessons for August and September at that time. Shortly thereafter, they announced the pool would be closed for the entire month of September. No extra notifications were sent out to swimming lesson families about how the pre-payments would be handled. So, I requested a refund for September lessons since the pool will be closed, and I was told it wasn't possible and I could consider the money a "donation" to the YMCA. WHAT?! Such a scam to charge people for services you can't provide and then refuse a refund! We also canceled our overall membership due to several reasons: horrible experience for child's first swimming lessons, many showers don't work properly in the family locker room (broken lights, broken shower handles, no hot water), communication is horrible and it's hard to get a hold of anyone, and anyone in the building seems to be able to charge your credit card, but no one seems to have the authority to issue a refund.

Parents beware: we signed up for what we thought was 3 weeks of swim. When the 3 weeks was up we emailed to cancel. 6 months later found out they were still charging me a monthly fee. When I asked for a refund they then said I had requested to cancel swim but never canceled my participation pass. I'm so confused and so sad. I have long supported local YMCAs. Avoid this one. Our experience with feeling scammed feels a lot like what's in these other reviews. We won't be back.

My friends and I meet at this Y weekly. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the basketball courts always have something going on.
