I cannot even begin to explain how disappointed I was with this hotel. We booked our rooms online a day before. This wasn't our first choice but all other hotels in the area were booked solid. When we arrived I noticed that the parking lot only had 2 cars in it. That was the first red flag. All other hotels we passed were packed. Check-in was super quick at first. We went around the side to park and couldn't find an elevator so we had to take the baby out of the stroller and carry them both and the other two kids upstairs. We arrived before my in-laws so I wanted to check both rooms to make sure everything was good. The first room was stripped of all linens and towels. Obviously someone had began to clean it and then stopped. There was still trash and used condoms on the floor. I work at hotels so I know sometimes mistakes are made. We'll just check out the second room and handle the first one downstairs. Second room was obviously still occupied by a guest! So we went back downstairs to get it handled. This is when we realize there is NO elevator in this entire 2 story hotel. It took them a while to get things figured out. My in-laws show up and they and my son need to use a restroom. Their public restroom is "being renovated". They gave my fiance keys to 3 different rooms and told him to go back upstairs himself and see if the rooms were ready. And to keep whichever 2 rooms we wanted. Thank goodness the 1st and 3rd rooms were good because the key for the 2nd didn't even work. I used some baby wipes to clean some soap scum out of the tub in the room and made the beds neater so my in-laws could use it. I have pictures of the room my family stayed in. Dirty remote, dirty door handle, weird paint on the walls, bathroom was filthy, and dirt and mold on the window sill and wall. The beds were just thrown together with tears in the sheets. I was afraid the sheets hadn't been changed. Looking out the window I saw the pool hadn't been used in at least a year. Surprisingly the microwave and fridge were super clean and so were the sheets on the bed. There was no coffee maker and the light by the door didn't work. But the A/C ran perfectly and kept the room cool. We had to drag all our luggage upstairs. Nobody offered to help us even though they knew we had 3 kids and they didn't have an elevator. The halls are hot and badly lit. The floor feels waxy and looks incredibly filthy. The stairwell had 0 lights. Extremely dangerous. The lights didn't even come on at night. It was raining badly and so the stairwell was wet and dark. They had a wet floor sign but it was obvious nobody was drying the floors. I didn't trust the breakfast based on the cleanliness I saw throughout the rest of the hotel but I decided to try to get some of their coffee since there wasn't a coffeemaker in the room. The coffee tasted like it had been made with dishwater. Also, I don't know what time breakfast begins or ends. They don't have it posted on the website or in the hotel. Our keys stopped working overnight we told the manager(?) and she said she'd have keys ready for us when we got back. When we got back those keys didn't work either. So more running up and down stairs. The only reason why this hotel didn't get 1 star was because it served it's purpose. We basically only used it to sleep and keep our stuff while we went sightseeing for two days. The sheets were clean and the toilet flushed so it worked. I personally would never stay here again unless I didn't have a choice. By the way, I didn't see anything being renovated the entire time. I think it's all a lie because they can't fix or clean anything.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this hotel had me over the edge. I was pleased with the price they had to offer considering the last minute booking, but wasn’t expecting what I walked into. First off the door to get into our room looked like it was broken into. secondly, our key to get into the room would demagnetize every time we left the room. When we walked in it looked as if the room hadn’t been cleaned from the previous user. We didn’t have a comforter on the bed, only sheets. There was chip crumbs laying beside the bed & stains on the mattress & on our four curtsey bathroom towels. The bathroom was so small you couldn’t even close the door behind you. All the ice machines were out of order and as soon as we entered the building nothing but marijuana filled the air into my lungs. The front desk attendant seemed to hate her job & felt like we inconvenienced her to fix our key to get into our room. The walls looked to have skid marks, and were so thin you could hear the person next doors conversation. & lastly the floors were dirty and rusty. This room takes the cake for most ratchet hotel stay in Wilmington.

This hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in. There was a long line of people complaining about their horrible experiences. Several people's doors wouldn't lock. Our tub got stopped up after the first use and was filled with dirty standing water. A few people had to wait for over an hour AFTER their check in for a room because they were understaffed and couldn't clean quick enough. The room wasn't cleaned very well. The icebox was caked in dirt and the bathroom floor was gross. To make matters worse, one of the ladies at the front desk was incredibly rude. Lots of people in line complained about how mean and unhelpful she had been. The price is decent but NOT worth the hassle. Checkout the Budgetel right next door and save yourself the headache.

We killed four cockroaches in the first five hours. Two were in the bathroom, one was on the carpet and one was on the bed. The place does not have a free breakfast as advertised. The pool was closed since it had a foot of green muck in it, rather than water. The whole building smelled bad. The lady at the front desk told us that the hotel was undergoing renovations but don't believe it. They are waiting for the place to be taken over by another chain. If that happens, then renovations might actually start. For now, it's just decaying.

If I could give this a zero star I would. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! It is filthy. There was mold in the bathroom the carpet was coming up, the towel rack was hanging half out of the wall, there was all kinds of dirt on the floor - both the carpet and the bathroom floor. The door into the room looked like a crow bar had attempted to break into it. They lock was hanging 1/2 off of the wall!! When we went to shower the water was COLD! No hot or even warm water. We were ripped off!! This place should be condemned!!

The building is being completely renovated in the next few weeks... I would given a two like others due to everything being so worn, no elevator, no air conditioning in the hallway, no phone in the room... But the staff, the woman at the front desk was really exceptional, and once I was in my room 245, I felt like I stepped into a different world. It was fairly plain, but very roomy, very clean, and the beds were comfortable. I slept like a rock.

It wasn’t bad for a hotel going through major renovation. When we checked in the hotel staff was pleasant. She explained that some amenities were not available upfront. We only stayed one night so it served its purpose. I did see a coach roach in the bathroom and the bathroom had mold in the side molding. Our room faced the street and were able to sleep without hearing the traffic. I wouldn’t stay more then one day, though, unless they really fix it up.

I would give 0 stars if possible. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Took ten minutes for someone to come to the front desk. While waiting, multiple cops came due to some sort of trouble. The hallway had cobwebs and smelled terribly of mold. There was visible black mold throughout the hallway. Got to our assigned room and there was mold around the electronic key card. Our key cards did not work. The receptionist said that she didn’t have anymore rooms available and that the only key that worked to the room was her master key. She said if we had to leave our room that we would have to go to the front desk and she would bring her master key and let us in our room. When we got into our room the lights did not work, except for one lamp. There was something that looked like poop on the floor, the lamps were rusted and there was mold on the lampshades. There was no phone in the room, the alarm clock wasn’t working (possibly from the light issue), there was what looked like a brown/tan vomit stain running down beside the bathroom door, there was no towels in the bathroom, and the inside door lock had been broken off the door. There were cockroaches. Within 5 minutes of seeing the room I knew we couldn’t stay there. I went to the front desk and they refused to give a refund. We packed our things in the car and left. Just stepping out of the hotel was a relief. I’ve never been inside a place so filthy and I am unsure of how it has not been shut down. The health department needs to be notified of the conditions of this place. Do not been fooled by the pictures on Expedia or other similar sites. These rooms are horrendous.

No phone in room. No blankets on beds. No coffeemaker or microwave. Broken sink, no stopper in tub, no toiletries. Lukewarm coffee in lobby! If we had not arrived late at night I would have requested our money back and looked for another place. Front desk clerk was very nice, but that doesn't make up for this unacceptable room!!

Don't stay here! It was a quick overnight stop for us, but the First thing we noticed was a cop sitting in the backside of the parking lot. The hotel is very outdated and had a bad odor. The doors and locks didn't seem to function correctly. Seemed to be a lot of locals and drugs around. Carpet felt wet. AC didn't work to cool the room off. Outlets hanging out of The walls. Floors not vacuumed. Could hear the staff talking about how nasty some of their rooms are. Wifi does not work well on the first floor. Wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. We could not wait to check out the next morning.

Location is really nice. It's pretty much in the middle of everything and not too far from Carolina Beach. I don't like that some of the rooms still allow smoking. I understand other may but that's my opinion. Service at the desk was really nice and friendly. Easy to understand and informative. Cleanliness is something I would say for sure needs to help. Shower doesn't look 100% clean and there are baby roaches here and there. Cost is something else I would say was OK for the place. We ended up getting their last room with last minute booking for 2 nights on the weekend for about $275.
