The best YMCA in the Boston area. Prices are affordable. The place is clean, Personal trainers are experienced and certified. They have good equipment, Zumba classes are fantastic, and it is a safe space for everyone. The staff are always in a good mood and willing to help you meet your needs. Oh, did I forget to mention there is parking available? So, if you are planning to join, please don't hesitate to do so. You won't regret it :)

This is an updated review, based on my most current experience. The pool schedule has become extremely limited, and even on days the pool is scheduled to be open, it's not. There is no coverage if one of the guards is sick - the pool is just closed. Twice in the past two weeks, I have arrived ready to swim, only to learn that the pool is closed. Swimming is a huge part of my pain management, and over half of my YMCA usage. There is no communication as to what is happening, or what the plan is to correct the situation. Frustrating.

Saturday adult swimming lessons at the Dorchester YMCA have been a godsend for me. I was so excited to learn anything that improved my time spent in the water and have been blessed by both the challenging nature of the instruction and the peace that comes from exercising and completing the different steps. Our instructor is fabulous and I am contemplating going through an additional series once this course is done so that I can get good practice. Thank you for extending this opportunity to the community!

I bring my kids here for swim lessons and I was so impressed with the staff at this YMCA. They are welcoming. The swimming instructor is amazing! They hired the right person for this job as he is very engaging with the children and the parents. The lesson components were beyond my expectations. Now every weekend the whole family looks forward to going to the Dorchester YMCA in Washington Street.

Zumba classes are the best! A studio full of people interested in getting a good work out, having fun, and doing something good for ourselves. The instructors are welcoming and full of high energy! :)

The Dorchester YMCA is one of the cleanest and fun facilities I have been to. Either to enjoy some nice laps the pool to their virtual workouts. The staff is always around to answer any questions I might have.

Front staff is friendly and welcoming. Pool is nice and heated. Quiet in the morning. No heat in womens locker room so freezing when you get out the pool. Also no hot water for showers. Great classes and weight room.

The Dorchester YMCA is conveniently located with ample parking. The staff are all incredibly sweet and helpful. The location is very clean and all COVID-19 protocols are 100% followed. I go mostly for the pool, but will likely begin using their clean and large fitness center as well.

The facility has updated equipment, in the weight room, a nice full size pool, basketball court, aerobic classes and has a daycare. As it pertains to the weight room, other than the previously mentioned equipment, it's terrible. The weights are frequently left out and on multiple occasions there have been face masked just thrown on the floor. The facilty is at least 4 stars, as for the weight room supervision, 1 star, 2 stars at best.

The Dorchester YMCA has been a great experience. I joined for many reasons and from the receptionist Shante, to the spin instructor Marilyn and my swim instructor Robert all have made this journey such great experience. I went into swim with no expectations because drowning was always my fear. Robert guided me and was patient with me every class. He showed me the basics to lead me to feeling comfortable to doing all that we practiced on my own. He is really a great teacher /instructor, very positive attitude, and hands on. I continue to use his guidance whenever I'm there. Its been a joy being apart of the Y experience.

The place has many activities for families like swimming, karate, basketball, great gym area and more. Some staff members are rude and entitled. Had one of the staff tell me to go get my child and mumbled that I'm too lazy to walk down the hall and go get my kid. She also continued and stated that one should not have kids if they can not take care of them. When I told her she was disrespectful, she told me she was the supervisor. I guess supervisor status gave her the right to disrespect people, especially parents, in front of their kids. Some employees are very disrespectful and entitled, and the worst part is that they don't see anything wrong with such behaviors. Stay away, not good for kids to hear and observe such tolerated behavior in this place.

I just walked there to get some information the lady at the front desk does not look like she wants to be there, she has no energy no desire she is not answering any questions. She told me to wait while she deals with someone else who walked in after me(one of her friends.) I walked away because that is not how you are supposed to treat people.

I took private swimming lessons with Bob Shirley at this Y. He is an excellent coach. He was flexible and focused on the areas I wanted to improve. My technique got much better. Also, the pool is very nice and kept warm and clean.

To be completely frank I know some people have reservations about using facilities located in urban neighborhoods hi to have that same feeling I am and can tell you that the Dorchester Y provides an awesome place for your family and your health as I understand it’s also a great place for your teenager to have somewhere to go where people are engaged with them

I love the Dorchester Y. They have the best staff, you never have to wait for equipment, and the pool is great. Also it is literally the cleanest YMCA (or gym) I have experienced. Super affordable monthly price. Enough said!

The staff are extremely knowledgeable and have years of experience in their Individual fields of expertise. Most importantly, they are dedicated, loyal, and lifelong members of our community. Thus, they understand the struggles that children must overcome in order to be successful in life. They work extremely well as a team and they have a shared vision of success for the organization as well as the community as a whole. Coach Trey, Coach D, Sensei Marvin Harris, Sensei Jerome Harris, Sensei Jerome and all of the staff work hard to create a safe and nurturing environment that is centered around teaching the whole child. They constantly go beyond the call of duty in order to meet the needs of the children in their care. It is truly reassuring and inspirational to witness this level of compassion and empathy from the teachers at the YMCA. It truly does take a village to raise a child and the YMCA has always been an integral component of this village in our community.
