Reminds me of having dinner at grandma’s in the countryside in France, Italy, Greece, or anywhere in Europe. Delicious, humble and unpretentious food, excellent table wine, everyone sits at the same tables and the staff has not grown weary of guests or complacent with the quality. Definitely worth a trip for such a unique gem.
I could have gone to the local feed store and bought a salt block for a lot less money. Talk about an overdose of sodium. The skill level in the kitchen has certainly declined. This is not the go-to Basque restaurant in Winnemucca! I have seen the owner buying chicken at grocery outlet in the past. It's too bad this restaurant occupies one of the cooler buildings I would love to see a high-quality restaurant going this space with rooftop seating. Long miserable night after wasting $100. Some of the false five star reviews are from friends or associates of the restaurant. This is a two-star restaurant and good for events. The experience last night was a complete fail very little sleep and feel miserable today this one is going to be worth a call to the county
This restaurant exceeded my expectations! Everything that was served there from the minestrone soup to the carrots to the shrimp scampi was amazing. Everything was flavorful and didn’t want to stop eating. Highly recommend!
Meals are served family style, meaning your will sit at a large table with people you don’t know and share sides with them. It was a great experience. We sat with a family from Wyoming and it was amazing! Loved every minute of it and will definitely come back.
We were moving from Oregon to Arizona and stopped for the night. The Martin was close so we took a chance. Fabulous choice on our part as we were treated to a delicious Baque dinner, great service in a historic building. Had no idea the amount of food they were planning on sending our way. Excellent soup, delicious salad, then 3 sides in addition to our meal. Hard working staff and very attentive.
A group of 6 of us went because they have a basque menu. The food was delicious and plentiful. I ordered liver and onions and others ordered various beef cuts & one person ordered salmon.
On a road trip and decided to stop for lunch. Since it was about 2pm, it wasn't crowded. Fantastic old-fashioned Inn. Great bar. I was shocked when the beer delivery showed and they opened a trap door in the floor behind the bar. It was an old cellar. Kind of a cool thing to have. Service was great. The wife ordered a French dip. It came with a side and soup or salad. I ordered a lamb shank. We both ordered mashed potatoes and a salad. The French dip was a little on the chewy side. She said that the meat was sliced just a tad too thick. Oh well, it sure looked good. The lamb shank was pure perfection. Lots of garlic and fall-off-the-bone tender.
I'm from Bakersfield and love Basque food, but live in Phoenix where there is none. We jumped on the chance to eat here when passing through town. Great food and a lot of it as you would expect. Great service too. Hits included the chicken noodle soup, beans, salad, hominy with chorizo, corn, mashed potatoes, fries, and seafood pasta. Misses include the lamb shank (too salty as others have mentioned - I'd get the chops next time) and bread pudding.
