As the description states, this is THE recommended restaurant for authentic Basque food served “family style” which means you are seated at tables with six other folks. Dinner is pricey but worth it. The $40 you spend for a lamb dish comes with other Basque dishes including a minestrone type soup and homemade bread, a salad with traditional beans, fresh real mashed potatoes, string beans, and a chorizo and hominy dish and your main course which was 3lamb chops for me. Dinner also includes a burgundy wine and bread pudding for desert. They serve. a local specialty drink they call “Picon Punch” which packs quite the punch. Staff was courteous and quick.

Wow! Had a great recommendation to stop here. Oh my. Family food portions. Really recommend splitting a meal. Sausage Homily, salad, bread pudding desert, Martin steak with lots of mushrooms.

We were absolutely impressed with this restaurant! I would give them higher than a 5 if I could. You get soup, salad, beans, three sides, your dinner, dessert, and wine with your meal. The food was incredible and the tastes were diverse. We will be back in Winnemucca just so we can eat here again!

Yes, my son and I drove here from California for dinner. Partly tradition and partly because it is worth it. The food is great but the whole experience is the must-do. Family style service with way too much food but too good to pass up. If you are anywhere nearby - be sure you don’t miss out.

We had so much fun at this place and we are so glad we found it while staying the night in Winnemucca! We arrived later than planned but Martin’s was open and welcomed us in! The service was excellent, the food was unbelievably delicious! The portion sizes were humongous! The menu selection was amazing! The staff was joyful and quite a delight! Very helpful! Our little grandson loved the environment and enjoyed dancing to the music with the bartender!🤣 Next time we drive through Winnemucca, this will definitely be a place we stop for dinner again!!! 👍🏽👍🏽🥰

This was our second visit to the The Martin Hotel. The first visit was unplanned and spontaneous. It was during a road trip to California and we found this restaurant for lunch. We loved the vibe, the traditional meals, Basque, looked so good that we intentionally returned for a dinner on a Sat eve, on yet another road trip. Dinner was fantastic! The meals are good sized so come hungry! The waitress/bartendess, Candace, was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and professional. You definitely have the locals and regulars' who dine and hang out, which make it even more interesting. A good place to stop, eat, visit and enjoy the local vibe. We will be back!

I'm from Bakersfield and love Basque food, but live in Phoenix where there is none. We jumped on the chance to eat here when passing through town. Great food and a lot of it as you would expect. Great service too. Hits included the chicken noodle soup, beans, salad, hominy with chorizo, corn, mashed potatoes, fries, and seafood pasta. Misses include the lamb shank (too salty as others have mentioned - I'd get the chops next time) and bread pudding.

Friendly people, fantastic food. Had the Lamb Shank, it was perfect. My only regret is I don't live locally.

Great food..no complaints!!! Prime Rib is only on Friday and Saturday..just for those that don't know. The service is 5+, food and the order it came out 5+, and the atmosphere in a small room is cozy and abit loud..but its only because everyone is happy and talking!!, We will continue to comeback again and again..even when my teeth fall out someday..lol.. thank you Martin Hotel!!!

Got to go first time ever to do that here, long time resident. GF got the 40 dollar Cioppino, I got myself and my father a chicken fried steak ($27) and a chicken fried chicken ($27) with basic fixings. As a to-go meal is never as good as sitting in a nice table in a great atmosphere, I would be 100%.

Delicious traditional Basque food, the atmosphere is charming and dinner was served family style! So many dishes were passed around the table prior to the entrees that we never would have tried were it not for this “family style” dining experience. At first it seemed awkward sitting down at a table with strangers, but almost instantly the experience became fun because we were passing around food and introducing ourselves. The price for dinner was just as much for the experience as the food, and we were served lots of food. We sat down and immediately the waitress brought a carafe of wine, soup and bread, followed by a salad with house dressing, 2 traditional Basque sides, beans with Chorizo, mashed potatoes, our individual entrees, home cut French fries and house made desserts. One of the top 5 places we’ve ever eaten.

On a road trip and decided to stop for lunch. Since it was about 2pm, it wasn't crowded. Fantastic old-fashioned Inn. Great bar. I was shocked when the beer delivery showed and they opened a trap door in the floor behind the bar. It was an old cellar. Kind of a cool thing to have. Service was great. The wife ordered a French dip. It came with a side and soup or salad. I ordered a lamb shank. We both ordered mashed potatoes and a salad. The French dip was a little on the chewy side. She said that the meat was sliced just a tad too thick. Oh well, it sure looked good. The lamb shank was pure perfection. Lots of garlic and fall-off-the-bone tender.

The Martian hotel restraunt has a reputation of being the best Basque food around. Boy, they are not kidding! Great food and drink, the sides are incredible! Guaranteed not to leave hungry. A must stop if your are in the Winnemucca area. This place never disappoints.

This is a very popular Basque style restaurant. The food is served family style and includes a carafe of wine. A full bar and alternate beverages are available as well. The diner picks an entree from a menu and all the sides, which may vary from day or season, are included. Pace yourself through the soup, salad with bean topping, green beans, hominy, mashed potatoes, French fries and bread followed by the entrees. They are happy to replenish any of the sides if needed. Take home boxes are provided. The fun part is getting to know the strangers you are seated with which makes the whole dining experience memorable.

Basque dinner included: Soup tasty but luke warm. Basically vegetables with thinly sliced sausage. We skipped the salad. Mashed potatoes were apparently amazing, a cross between mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I can't eat dairy so didn't taste. The chicken in tomato sauce was tasty but way overcooked, more like sand The glazed carrots are like candy, too sweet for me. French fries were good but salty. My main dish the lamb shank was fall off the bone tender but so salty I could not finish it. Service was great.

We had the ribeye and the salmon, both were cooked to perfection. All the sides were served communal style with other people at our table and all of those were very very good. We had drinks from the bar that were also top notch. Service was friendly and quick but not intrusive. I highly recommend it.

This restaurant is awesome. Has family style seating. So you sit next to people you don't know at first, but share food and now your family. Great way to meet new people. The food was awesome and definitely homemade. From the wine to the bread pudding GREAT. If you've never experienced Basque food, this is a good place to start.

Shared table dining family style.the liver and onions were fantastic and the couple at our table love their chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. All of these were under the speciality group. The server recommended the chicken pasta. The food came with a small carafe of red house wine and soup, salad, beans, green beans, mashed potatoes, French fries, succotash and of course bread pudding.
