What a great burger/diner joint! I ordered the cheese steak and fries. They were very kind and super attentive. As I waited for my order, they greeted every person who walked in with so much kindness. I wasn't planning on coming in but they were so nice I found myself inside. Family-friendly, and they even made sure Roxi, my service dog, had plenty of water 🤗🐺

Last burger in the USA before moving overseas. Best burger/burger experience I've had. Service was top notch, the counter person (who I belive was the owner) offered my kids free ice cream after their meal and all of the staff were all around the nicest people. Had the double stack burger that did not skimp and was on point. Fries might have been the best I've ever had. Homemade ranch was amazing. Wish I could have found this earlier but we'll be back in 3 years!

First time your come for the food and then you want to come back for the customer service. The owner runs the counter and knows so many people by their first name. It's clear they are ton of regulars there. We were here for the first time and felt like part of a big family. Our needs were anticipated - napkins, little cups for ketchup, etc. They were extremely busy but absolutely friendly and courteous. Giving our kids a second ice cream flavor on the house is a good way to make them and us, the parents, happy 😊 Burgers were yummy, sweet potato fries were flavorful, chicken strips juicy. Prices are great, food comes out quick. I'd be a regular here if lived in the area.

We had a wonderful experience at Midway Classic Malt shop tonight. The homemade ranch and chipotle dressing was simply amazing! The burgers were tasty and obviously made from choice ground beef. The burger patties were large and very filling! Every bite, from the delicious french fries to the absolutely fantastic milk shake was absolute perfection. My husband said his shake was the best skake he's had since the ones he used to make as a kid from scratch with his family in Michigan. He said that those were the best ice cream shakes he's ever had, until he tried a strawberry shake at Midway. This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Perfect for a casual night out and perfect for families.

Stumbled across this gem while running errands and WOW! So glad I did. I felt like I was stepping back in time in the best way. Fantastic burger, quality ingredients, and the best onion rings I have had in years. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend!!!

This is the first time we've been here since high school back when they were located in the center of the parking lot across from EB Games. I saw their amazing reviews and we tried it out tonight! Their customer service was amazing! I greatly enjoyed the food for the cost of it and their banana split hit the spot! We had a big order tonight and the onion rings were sadly forgotten. We were looking forward to trying them out. But even with that I was very happy with the service and the food. Thanks guys! You guys are awesome!

The BEST customer service and great food. The owner is probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and recognizes me every time I come in and I’ve only been a handful of times. The decor inside feel authentic with old school Coca-Cola decor and is a nice break from the typical chain restaurants. Nothing is better than supporting local restaurants while eating delicious food. Thank you!

Had a awesome time at this classic malt shop! Reviews were a little unbelievable so we decided to give it a try. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the nicest man. We figured by his customer service he must be the owner, but we found out everyone there treats you that well. We ordered the True Blue Burger with fries, Chili cheese dog, chocolate malt and Coke. Everything was made to order. The burger was cooked medium-rare as ordered and they got it right, the Blue cheese and bacon were an excellent touch. The shake was so thick we had to give it a moment by itself and the house-made ranch was a great companion to the hand-cut fries. The Chili cheese dog was hiding in a foil tent and when I saw all the Chili and cheese that went on that 1/4 lb dog I was quite happy. Most places put a taste of their Chili and touch of cheese, Midway gives you a serving of each. Everything was clean and there was plenty of seating inside and out. I can't stress enough how nice everyone we talked to was, they genuinely like their customers. My only complaint: There was so much Chili and cheese on the dog that it wasn't finger food, the plastic knife the gave me couldn't cut the steamed bun, it was too thin and kept folding over. Eventually I had to pick the dog up. Next time I will bring one of the disposable knives my wife keeps in her car. If you are in the area, get to Midway Classic Malt Shop!

The Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries is unbelievable! So juicy and tasty! I am sure this is the one you’re looking for! Jeff is very friendly and attentive, such a nice guy. The place is great too, classic cheeseburger restaurant. I’ll be coming back soon, no doubt!

My favorite burger place in SD! I had a western burger with fires, it was so good, just couldn’t stop eating! And the service was excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant, you should try their burgers when you’re around.

Update (June 2, 2023), Went back for a 3rd and still the consistent. $11 for cheeseburger with fries. Back in SD for a few days and returned to Midway for a second time. 5-Stars for consistent burger, fries and attentive service. For $11, (with cheese), with crunchy fries, it’s hard to beat. There is In N Out, but the it’s a smaller burger, inconsistent service and long crazy lines.

After a full day of enjoying the beautiful San Diego sun, come visit Midway Classic Malt Shop. These guys are awesome. After easily parking, we were immediately greeted as soon as we walked through the door. Everyone is very friendly and the food was fresh fast and delicious. The selection of food and drinks is very expansive and the prices were very reasonable. They do have a kids menu. The shakes are also delicious and there was plenty to share. I can’t say enough great things about this place. We just moved here (military) and we were tired from unpacking and yelped a family friendly burger place and found this gem. The service was phenomenal, they treat you like family and make you feel so welcome. Now to the food… it’s just soooo good 🔥 they got everything right. The ranch the chipotle mayo the perfectly cooked fries.. they offer lettuce wraps vs buns for gluten sensitive people like me 😭 if you haven’t check them out!

Zonies!! Trust me, you want this burger and onion rings! Best EVER! Get the all-American burger; seared perfectly beef burger, bacon fresh hot and plenty of it, and a fresh grilled egg on top...so good! Never had onion rings this good either--never. The malts were tasty and as awesome as all the food was, the staff/service were even better. They made sure there was seating near the outdoor heater for us. The thoughtfulness is above and beyond. Spend your money on this local small business!

every single food i’ve had here SLAPS and the shop is such a fun vibe. they also have hands down the best service i’ve ever experienced at a restaurant (all 5 times i’ve been!) — they really know how to make customers feel welcome and cared for. the zucchini sticks, fries, and onion rings are always perfectly crispy and never greasy. their ranch? next level. chili dogs? HUGE and well dressed. i always get a scoop of ice cream because how could you ignore the ice cream counter up front?? and they always ask me if i want it now or later - which yes, a fat scoop or shake is the perfect appetizer 😊 i haven’t even tried their burgers yet because i’m too obsessed with everything else on the menu and my tummy is only so big. ILY midway ❤️

The place was a favorite from the word go. Such a hidden gem. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The owner and staff were super helpful and so kind not only to me but to everyone. You can tell they really love their customers! I got a custom shake that was Amazing! It tasted just like a Girl Scout cookie. I ordered the Caliente Burger with 1/2 fries, 1/2 onion rings, so so good, but the homemade chipotle sauce and ranch were Awesome! My daughter ordered the Western and it came with 3 large onion rings!! This has been the friendliest and most surprising experience so far in San Diego!! Highly Recommend!!

The service was so friendly! The staff welcomed us and thanked us for coming in. We ordered the Caliente Burger and the Chicken Sandwich. Our food was fresh and served in big portions! They didn't put sauce on the Chicken Sandwich which allows you to dress it up as you like. I asked for ranch dressing and put some on the chicken sandwich and it was good! The fries were especially amazing.

We went here to get a shake but the smell was amazing as we walked in so I also ordered a burger and fries. The person behind the counter was incredibly nice. They also split our order without us asking. My husband said "this is the best customer service I've had in a long time". And the food was good too!!

This is a cute little place with a terrific staff and a cozy atmosphere. The owner is amazing. What a breath of fresh air to come here. They have an outdoor waiting area to be able to have a peaceful protest while enjoying the delicious food here. This place and the owner, Ferris, is awesome and the prices are reasonable for the value of what you get. If you want the best tasting burger of your life, this is the place to go. I'd even go so far as to say that this place even beats In-n-out!

I was in the mood for a Burger so I decided to try this place from my Google suggestions. I arrived to see that this place is open and doing business With peaceful protesting. I got these slam up Burger which was a 1/2 pound Burger it was really good I was gonna get the larger one but he recommended that I should go with a smaller 1 and he was definitely right because the Burger was huge. I also got onion rings and a philly cheese fries which were both really well done. I am extremely happy with this place it totally fed my craving for a Burger.
