As a person more used to the football and the beer, I decided why not get some real "culture" for a change, so on an early Sunday morning i headed over to the National Museum of Warsaw, which wasn't too far away from where I am staying. The entrance fee was a nominal One Zloty (20 cents) and in I was. I had no plan of what I wanted to see, so went in with no ideas or specifics, just have a walk around and look at some great art work. I have to say it is a very impressive museum, and I did learn a lot about Polish history from it..... some wonderful paintings and I was happy to while away a few hours here. Three floors though, and if, you are like me, and want to see as much as you can, going down every nook and cranny, then you will spend about 2 or 3 hours here easily. Suffice to say, I was well knackered after it all. It was great to see a lot of young kids around, getting a good education and learning. There is also a play and learning room for young kids, which if you have young kids, I do, is a great idea. Well done to the museum on that one. All in all, it was a very enjoyable few hours.

Lovely collection of art, and free on Tuesdays! Just be aware that every art class in Poland is there on the free day, the massive hoards of children can make exploring the museum a challenge. Inside there are some very stunning pieces by Polish painters, with a few additional galleries on world art. The paintings are by far the most impressive thing to see. The restaurant is in the lower levels and is a bit classier than one might expect at a museum. If there is a gift shop, we couldn't find it.

Fantastic experience. Free entry on Tuesdays. Exhibitions span 3 floors, and they cover Renaissance art, medieval religious art, polish art, masterpieces, and more. The building itself is very impressive. I especially liked the bookstore on the second floor. Cloakrooms. Clean bathrooms. Good wifi.

The museum is free every Tuesday, even on the public holidays. The tickets are divided into 3 types, one is for permanent galleries, another one is for entrance for 1 temporary exhibition and the last one is a combined ticket and let you to enter to different temporary exhibitions. For the normal regular ticket (entrance to permanent exhibitions), there are a lot to see. Estimated to spend 1-2 hours if you are really interested in the history and have a detailed look of all the art pieces.

A large collection of Art Creations (sculptures, paintings...) from various periods in human History, from Ancient Sumer and Egypt to modern times, quite a few of them are VERY Strong. Requires several calm and slow visits to enjoy in its fullness. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) The staff follows you like a shadow, they do it in a very clumsy way, very distracting. In addition, they are probably good friends themselves, because they disturb the visitors with their conversations. They should be separated in other rooms to keep the peace and solemnity of the place.

Great museum. I visited on a Tuesday which granted free entry, but the normal entry fee isn't high and the museum is definitely worth it. There are several exhibitions but my favorite was the paintings. Some school children were having classes inside the museum, which is nice to see. Teaching kids to appreciate art at a young age is a good idea.

Very interesting and comfortable art museum. Not only paintings but also they have plenty of sculptures, ceramics, historical objects, etc. There are 3 floors (0 to 2) and you can enjoy various kinds of art from ancient Egypt, Greece, Roman Empire, medieval Europe, and modern. Each exhibition has an audio guide both in Polish and English and you can scan the QR code to listen to it (I suggest you to bring earphones). The permanent exhibition is free on Tuesday!! Highly recommend.

Just amazing! I didn't know much about polish artists nor how talented they were. I was left speechless. If you're as interested in art as I am, you should definitely plan in 2-3 hours for your visit. Totally worth your time.

I recently visited the National Museum in Warsaw on a Tuesday when admission was free, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The museum boasts an impressive collection of exhibits and galleries that cater to a wide range of interests. First and foremost, the sheer variety of artifacts and artworks on display is astounding. The museum offers a comprehensive journey through Polish history and culture. I particularly enjoyed exploring the diverse exhibitions, each offering a unique perspective on different aspects of Polish heritage. The museum's layout is well-designed, making it easy to navigate through the various galleries. Whether you're interested in paintings, sculptures, or historical artifacts, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, the museum provides informative descriptions and context for each exhibit, enhancing the overall learning experience. One aspect that truly stood out to me was the quality of the exhibits. The museum houses an impressive collection of well-preserved artifacts and artworks, showcasing the richness and diversity of Polish culture. Whether it's the intricate details of a medieval tapestry or the vibrant colors of a modern painting, each piece is presented with care and attention to detail. Overall, my visit to the National Museum in Warsaw was thoroughly enjoyable. The combination of free admission on Tuesdays, extensive exhibits, and well-curated galleries made for a memorable experience. I highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in exploring the cultural heritage of Poland.

Great museum! It is a huge building with lots of stairs. Lots of art, rooms and things to see. All very nicely displayed and easy to see. Highly recommend for tourists that aren't native to Poland. Think it's great if you're from Poland too.

What an underrated museum! I spent two only hours looking at the paintings on the right galleries of the first floor and they were wonderful. A bit of history, mythology, landscapes, portraits... I would have never thought that there was an art museum in Poland this good (no offense of course) and I'll definitely have to come back to see the rest of it

Definitely worth a visit, in order to see the greatest works by the finest painters. It's very easily accessible by tram, train, and bus (actually, it's pretty hard to miss). It also includes work beyond paintings, such a very cool technology section, and parts relating to design of everyday goods throughout history.

Huge exposition I think you will need at least 2 full days to see everything. I personally more fond of ethnographic expo therefore "Stan Rzeczy" was very exciting for me to visit. There are also a lot of paintings you might want to check.

National Museum in Warsaw is a nice place to visit as you can “go back “ to old times and get amazed from the art, especially the paintings which gives obvious view of lifestyle of those times. Try to go there until evening time as it’s so crowded in the evening as usually people visit after their work. Let me know about your opinion if you visit 😊

Big museum with lot of paints, pieces of art and artifacts. It focuses on Polish artists but it is more than that. Besides fine arts, it has also design and decorative art sections. If you want to explore everything, you need about 3 hours.

Excellent selection of Polish art, but not extensive for obvious historical reasons. The temporary exhibition of recently acquired pieces is a must visit, for the 14 Chagalls. The permanent exhitition includes a lot of medieval religious works for those into it (a couple of Belgian and German pieces are impressive), a small but wide-ranging 20th century design exhibition, a 19th century section and an important collection of Nubian art. Do make sure that you visit the restaurant hidden away in the basement... excellent, cheap food in simple but tasteful surroundings. Loved this museum

The hard to navigate audio guide doesn't serve justice to the impressive collection of art works in this museum. Beautiful collection of impressionists and symbolists on their 19th Century collection

I had trouble getting my free pass with my journalist biz card initially but eventually worked fine. I was actually really impressed with the museum. It’s multiple levels of beautiful international works of applied art and art from medieval times to the 19th century. Pictures allowed with no extra costs (I’m looking at you Cuba! And Romania!) Plus an amazing medieval art section. The exhibit on the art in Faras is also excellent. English translations for everything as well. I spent about 2 hours inside.

Unfortunately, in hot weather, the air conditioning does not work, and in some rooms you can smell an unpleasant smell. I highly recommend, everyone will find something for themselves. One of the best museum experiences I've ever had. It might seem like not a lot for some people but being able to see crafts of artists like Chełmoński, Matejko and Gierymski is an extraordinary pleasure. What adds to my overall expirience is the level of well though preparation that all exhibitions were presenting. If you are ever in Warsaw you should visit this place. It's a top one must see.

A nice museum with some awesome pieces of historic machinery scattered around the outside. The inside was amazing, with amazingly preserved suits of armour and beautiful paintings. The only negatives were that a group of old polish ladies were following us around and constantly telling the children not to touch anything because they havent been bothered to better protect the relics with screens. Also its obligatory to leave your coat and bags behind . It felt like life inside this museum is still very communist inspired. Dont take your kids. Would I go again ? No.

Great museum. Amazing mediaeval art gallery. Very good presentation of Polish painters. Definitely worth visiting. Norman ticket for adults costs 20 zł, audio guide 10 zł. Elevators for disabled people, great gift shop with interesting books both in Polish and English. I guess you need at least 4 full hours to fully check everything. Pros: 1) great visual art from classical styles and periods to postmodern 2) availability, prices, audio guide explanations and exhibition design 3) representation of Polish art Problems: 1) at some levels the floor squeaks too much; 2) general Polish attitude towards strangers; 3) weird map.

A lovely museum of art and other trinkets with a lower level housing all sorts of depictions of Jesus and wooden artifact's. I really enjoyed visiting this museum it was the first time I had stopped in Warsaw and was able to visit it. It's a shame it's not publicised more as a place to go. It was cheap as chips to go in too about 5gbp. I would highly recommend going to this place by yourself or with the family.

(Translated by Google) You can have a great time here even after the pandemic. The sanitary regime must of course be followed, but it is not a problem if you come right after opening. The only downside is the disassembly of the book shop, which you can now only get at the checkout and there is not much to choose from. But admiring the permanent collection is great fun, and the additional exhibition with the stańczyk and woman's summer is even more delightful.

My fav museum in Warsaw. 2h of sightseeing! ❤️ So big, so many artworks, everything is really interesting and beautiful. You must come here 100%. There are a lot of saloons of old greek art, many paintings created with oil and pastel, as well as you will see different statues, monuments, clothes, vases, dishes, things… there are 3 floors, and they are very wide and long. You are allowed to take photos. There is a bathroom of course and you can pay by cash and card here. All the descriptions of art are written in both Polish and English languages. On Tuesdays the entrance to permanent exhibitions are free. 😊

A very good art museum, however the name is deceiving, when I visit a nations capital, I always visits it's National Museum, because it shows history of that country and how it wants other people to sew them, but this museum literally had none of that, what it had was very beautiful art exhibitions. Then I took the bus to the National history museum and again I was fooled... Because they told me this place is not a museum, it's just an office.

Not a big museum but has got lot of paintings dedicated from pre medival and medival times to 19th century. Also has figurines and porecelain pottery. Cabinets and clocks also on the display. The paintings done by polish artists and those from Italy, France and other EU nations along with other exhibitions. Tuesday is free day to see permanent exhibitions with tickets to be purchased for temporary exhibitions. The paintings and exhibitions have english captions along with them and there are also audio guides for non polish speakers.

No possibility to buy tickets online. Queue is always around 15-20 minutes. It’s good AC so it’s not too hot inside during summer. A lot of old stuff and a lot of some boring stuff. Some small painting some are bigger or super big. Those big ones are more art in one place so you can look at them faster. Benches in side are for free so you can sit I. Them when you got tired and too bored. Then also can sleep, but some old ladies asked me not to sleep on benches so I don’t know if it’s allowed but it should.

If you enjoy museums, count on spending several hours there easily, because the exhibits are extensive! From Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, to medieval Europe, to 20th century Poland - there is much to see and appreciate. You might need an entire day just to see all the artwork on the upper floors. Coat checks are mandatory.

I'm really disappointed by the organization of this museum. The waiting line is chaotic. After you buy a ticket, you have to jump into another line again. It's worse than in a third-world country airport, no waiting order is respected. The painting collections are not so impressive neither, with mainly religious paintings and only a few interesting items. It's not worth the visit, I'll avoid such museums next time.

I strongly reccomend this museum located in the city center. The National Museum in Warsaw is one of the oldest art museums in Poland. Established in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts. Since 1938 museum is located in the modernist style building. Standard exposition consist of impressive Polish Painting Gallery, Gallery of Gothic Art, Archeological Collection and Collection Fresks from Farras (Egipt). Additionally they have interesting temporary expositions. There is museum shop and restaurant onsite.

(Translated by Google) Impressive harvest, I spent a lot of interesting hours here, but a little creepy are all those Texas keepers who follow you step by step. It's a little embarrassing. I walk, visit, admire and literally feel the breath of a woman worthy of being an exhibit in this museum on my back. And a propsik for the Polish Pope, the only real cream cake in front of the entrance, I just don't know why he throws a boulder at the visitors (Original) Imponujące zbiory, spędziłem tu wiele ciekawych godzin ale trochę creepy są te wszystkie Panie strażniczki Teksasu które chodzą za tobą krok w krok.

Polecam. W czasie II wojny wywieziony do Lublina – schowany-zakopany.

A must see for anyone in Warsaw. The Greek and Roman Gallery, the Nubian, the Egyptian galleries are outstanding. The medieval gallery and the art galleries (16th-early 20th century) present some of the most remarkable artifacts you need to see to understand the arts in Poland and in the region (from Germany to Lithuania to Belarus). Each gallery is worth a museum!

We loved the visit to the museum, which is free on tuesday. I recommend at least 2 to 3 hours per visit. The museum offered various exhibitions, starting in the antic, with items from egypt and greece, to the medieval times and the biggest exhibiton 19th century poland, which featured a lot of stunning works of art from different art styles and schools and showed the development of styles in poland. If you are in warsaw, I recommend visiting the national museum, it consists of lots of historical facts and stunning pieces.
