A small, but interesting museum! Entry 20 pln in cash (2023-06-11). Preserved remains of 2 world war prison! Dungeons and other exhibition of things from that time! The visit lasts a maximum of 30-45 minutes! Very nice, service minded and welcoming staff!

The lighting inside, I think, sets the tone of the museum. Some of the inside was darkly subdued, but the displays were well presented and very educational leaving with a better knowledge of what happened in the prison. Also the final demise of the prison, and the monument of the tree and gate pillar outside. I also got in for free.

some objects/documents have no English explanation and the museum has less “prison” specific exhibition which doesn’t satisfy the purpose of a visit of a “prison”. btw, the staff said that only cash is accepted due to broken pos device but we can see that there are many old comments on the same issue. when we paid for the tickets, we didn’t get any receipt. the regular ticket price is stated as 10PLN on the info card and the ticket but we paid 20PLN per person. strange situation…

A small museum yet really worth a visit, well orgnized and is with many documents of what happened in Warsaw during that terrifying era. The Tree which witnessed this heartbreaking history standing in front of this museum is also a breathing landmark. 10zlt for normal tickets. Free on Thursdays.

I became intrested this place after watching the series Wojenne Dziewczyny. Pawiak was Gestapo prison. On 1944 the prison was destroyed and never rebuilt. Now you can see a little museum. Front of the museum is another unique monument. Pawiak elm tree, it seems like real tree, but it is made from bronze.

This little museum is conveniently located on your way to POLIN and, in a "chronological" context should be visited before it as it's about political prisoners during the German occupation. I found the dead tree and the tombstones outside quite interesting and in line with the atmosphere of the place..

This museum is a must for those who explore the traces of World War II in Warsaw. The Pawiak Prison was completely destroyed by the German army during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The museum stands at the location where the prison building once stood.

Great museum with a lot of info and details. It's a short visit but totally worth it to discover a dark but very important part of Poland's history. It's cash only!

I think here is not a must-go place if you are visiting to Warsaw. You can understand the history of Poland in here, but I think you can get it in Royal Castle too. Some information from the internet "Dating from the 19th century, this former prison was built to incarcerate enemies of the Russian tsar. During WWII it was used by the Gestapo to imprison and torture mostly Polish political prisoners. It’s estimated that around 100,000 prisoners passed through these sinister gates from 1939 to 1944, of whom around 37,000 were executed. The prison was blown up by the Germans in 1944, but half of the mangled gateway, complete with rusting, barbed wire, and three detention cells (which you can visit) survive." -lonely planet

Such a heartbreaking place! A former Gestapo Prison. Takes about 2 hours if one reads the information in depth. There is no need to buy tickets in advance. The museum includes a number of prison cells and a sort of documentation center. Info is also available in English and sometimes in German. Highly recommended!

Experience the story live. How prisoners were tortured, beaten and murdered during the Nazi era and how they were kept in these cells. A visit here in Warsaw is a must.

I had higher expectations for this museum. It's quite small, and you can easily see everything in half an hour or less. It doesn't provide a comprehensive representation of what the prison was like, but rather focuses more on the events that occurred during that time. If it's a free day, it's okay to check it out; otherwise, it's not that worth it

The organizers/staff have done such a wonderful job creating and maintaining this museum. The artifacts and displays are educational and moving. The workers were helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend visiting with a licensed Warsaw guide, to maximize the experience.

An outdated museum not far from the large museum of Jewish-Polish history POLIN was nevertheless an important building block in the history of the destruction of humanity by the German occupation. Human destinies that were irretrievably destroyed in the cold of a master race ideology. This always makes the visitor from Germany despair and think. It's good that these places of remembrance exist!

It's a striking museum set out in an old prison. Shows in detail how German occupants treated the imprisoned population. The exhibition is very immersieve and will leave visitors with a deep sense of shock and reflection. Not recommended for young children or more sensitive people.

if you're closed for the holiday because you're too lazy to work, could you maybe make that information public, if you know how to write? sign: open on Thursday - door on Thursday: *locked* - please stop wasting my time, since my time is actually valuable

Moving experience. Probably best done after visiting POLIN, small to justify a special trip.

Itsenäisyyspäivän lähestyessä museossa oli jonkinnäköinen tilaisuus koululaisille. Tämä hieman hankaloitti vierailua, mutta hyvin pääsi kuitenkin tutustumaan vankilan karuihin oloihin.

I visited the museum on a rainy day. The museum has two sections. You have a corridor with original scenes where you stand where the prisoners stood. The other part is a huge room with a lot of information about the war in Poland in general. Obviously a great part of this museum is about the world war 2 and the concentration Camps. Positive: they provide 3 languages. Polish, English and German.

This museum shows sone cruel history of Pawiak, where many citizens were tortured and killed. Exposition of photos, posters, historical documents, letters as well as places and equipment used by interrogators. Worth to see, pray for victims and never let this history to happen again

Tiny little museum with a scary history. You can see some of the old cells and a bunch of old documents. The staff is friendly and the pricing is very fair. If you have bad luck (as I had) you can not move like you want because a group of school kids is there at the same time. Maybe visit the place on the weekend and not in the week.
