(Translated by Google) A noble place if we want to show a child the times of our youth or remember them ourselves. For those brought up in those times (at least for teenagers of that time) a source of sentiment. In addition to the exhibits and the example of the M1, there is also a gastro section, where you can taste candy orangeade and drink coffee from an espresso machine that remembers the times of a bygone era.

My dad grew up in the PRL before moving to North America. After showing him photos of this place, a lot of memories of his came back - with that came a lot of interesting stories. I'm glad I went and got to experience a piece of my father's childhood.

This is a excellent museum that provides an in-depth look into the life of the people of Poland under communism as they have many several room exhibits which you can walk around and truly experience the life of the period along with many interesting facts. This is perfect after you go to the uprising museum to show a more modern polish history. The staff are extremely friendly and very reasonable prices!!

Very nice museum that takes you back during the 40s 50s 60s and 70s. They have multiple displays walking you through each period with explanations in English and in Polish. This is not a large Museum it is rather small but it is very interesting with a lot of information. I really like the cinema room which had basically what I would call propaganda videos of that time. There is a coffee shop at the end of the museum if you need something to drink or eat. There's also a bathroom on the second floor. This is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area as it is not expensive and it does have a lot of information in a small place.

The Museum of Life is a great way to gain some knowledge of the history of life for Polish citizens during the cold war. They have great displays, films that are casted to a small cinema room screen, posters, and real life cars and phone boxes for visitors to see. They also have these brilliant rooms that have been transformed to look exactly how they would during this time period so you can step into the room and travel back in time. My one problem with the museum is that it’s a bit too small and you can get it done very quickly. However, this cannot be helped and I still had a very good time here. Not only this, but the tickets are very cheap and they give good deals to students.

I loved going here. Also I love history. Nearly everything you see her on display were donated from people's basements abs attics from their grandparents ~ the ones who lived through communist Poland. They present facts, not a political agenda. It really is interesting to see how they lived.

I was made to feel most welcome at this splendid, well thought out, and presented museum. If you're a fan of apps, audio guides etc you're well catered for. I preferred to use my imagination, how it was to live from day to day in an M2 apartment, with its possibly leaky plumbing, and the wind whistling through shoddy window frames. Maybe being called in by some party functionary to account for my actions, and thoughts. But also the joy of, after all those years on the waiting list, eventually being assigned a car, and they weren't that bad, I had one once, an FSO pickup in England, years ago, it was as tough as old boots, and never let me down. For me the best part was the Café, everything original, if you like your coffee strong, then black in a tall glass with a metal holder. The chocolate and cream cake the "Wuzetka", is dangerously delicious. Pani Domenika took time to give me some valuable ideas about where to visit in Poland, thank you Domenika, if you're lucky enough to listen to one of her lectures, pay attention, she's a very wise lady who knows at lot about life. On the way out, I liked the hand dryer in the toilet, which makes a lot of noise for very little hot air, takes a long time to dry your hands, but if you've been queuing for hours for socks, and there are no socks, it doesn't matter that much. Will there be socks tomorrow? Maybe, who knows? Maybe my friend knows someone, who knows someone, who knows where socks are to be found. Enjoy the museum, if you come across a few bad reviews, I suspect they're written by people who have no interest in other people, and think only of themselves, with the face in the phone screen the whole time. That's the point, this place is full of things, but it is about people. The everyday Polish people, with their resilience, and stoicism. Have fun and learn a bit too, can't be bad.

A small time-machine museum. Located in the heart of downtown, this small museum will take you back in time. It shows a bit how Poland went through the communist era. Not bigger than an apartment, easy access and with all items explained in Polish and English. The entrance tickets cost around $5 USD. The easiest way to get there is by city trains or buses. Worth visiting.

Great place to visit if you are curious how life looked like in communism time in Poland. Some iconic exhibits, things, places, setups. You can even try some tastes of the time. Maybe a bit small so not everything has a chance to be exposed but still great to experience.

Cute little museum, I assume private. You get a nice overview of how life during the Socialist era was. One thing that could benefit the museum is simply more floor space and more immersive, walk-through type exhibitions. Lots of the objects just hang on display walls and the museum was pretty packed with visitors.

Very interesting Museum, you can download an app from their website on your phone, then you can listen to a free audioguide, if you have headphone for it. Alot of stuff to see, read, look at, gives you a glimpse of the life back then. Worth the visit, very educational.

One of the coolest museums I have ever been to. It’s quite small and can get kind of busy with school tours, but there is still a lot to see and a very interesting history to the area. I highly recommend exploring this museum and checking out their cafe!

Very authentic and interesting experience in the heart of Warsaw. The museum truly shows what was like living in the communism aera in Poland. The highlight for me was the cafe inside the museum where one could drink a coffee or enjoy authentic sweets like 60 years ago.

Contemporary museum dedicated to the past) This is the brief trip to the Polish People's Republic (PPR). One of the most popular location in the central part of Warsaw. You need around one hour to explore the exhibitions. There are several installations and a small cinema hall where the documentaries about soviet period are continuously shown. All exhibitions consist of real household items. The most remarkable is that some exposition are made in the form of the rooms of soviet period apartment. Moreover, one room is designed as kindergarten and another one is a real canteen. You entrance ticket states the real prices for products of the food basket in PPR. You also can buy funny souvenirs at the museum entrance. It would be interesting to visit both kids and adults. Must visit))

A museum that helps young people to better imagine and feel the times of the Polish People’s Republic. For the elderly, it can be a place of nostalgia and memories of old times. The place is interestingly structured, starting from the beginning of the story to the end. The lively spaces: kitchen, bedroom, toilet, a cinema, a shop, a fiat and a typewriter are ideal for interacting with this place. I recommend to visit this place in the morning on weekdays, later it can get crowded and noisy because of the family’s + school kids…. Trust me!! There you will enjoy coffee from an old coffee machine and eat famous Polish desserts. The coffee place is served by an old lady, dressed in the blue apron from that time. Very nice and friendly person. I highly recommend !!

If you came to Warszawa, visit this museum, located close to the center, easy to get. There are a lotta interesting exhibits, there is spirit of communism, you can back to 80-90. If you have never been to USSR - you can feel it and to observe real part of an apartment with real furniture and some products, it looks like a time machine brings you to the past. Highly recommended.

An interesting small museum where you can get a picture of how people in Poland lived under communism. There are lots of everyday items and a reconstructed apartment. Make sure to check the museum website because they have many promotional days for cheaper tickets or a free audio guide for foreigners on Thursdays. At the end of the tour, you can take a short break in an old-style cafe

Excellent. About £5.50 to get in, the museum is small but the audio guide took about an hour to get round. Interesting with loads of items to see rather than just reading. Great way to spend an hour. Only downfall the audio guide doesn’t come with headphones.

  • 4/5 Shayla Van H. 8 months ago on Google • 22 reviews
A well-done museum. Plenty to read about the history of the People's Republic of Poland, several interactive elements, and many colorful elements that step you back in time. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the audio guide app to work on my Android phone, so I didn't get a chance to hear additional elements addressed. It's a short museum, so even if you're in a hurry, you can get through the museum in about an hour without the audio guide.

Pretty important museum as it depicts how life in Poland looked like 40-60 years ago. For foreigners it's an occasion to learn what equipment was common in every Polish house. For Poles it's rather reminiscent of their younger days (or maybe golden years if someone enjoyed communism) and a chance to show today's kids a difference between past and current kinds of entertainment and pastime. There are also items from cult classic movies eg. Miś as well as you can buy popular orange sodas in glass bottles. I remember when the museum was located in Praga and I took photos there, however maybe it was a good decision to move this place to the city centre because Praga is infamous for its hooligans and waiting in the long queue to enter would easily end up in robbery or assault. Also, for foreigners it's way better to stay close to the nearby railway station rather than travel to a bit shabby and unpopular area

Amazing museum transporting you in time to 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's and great history lesson about life in communist reality. Everyone born from 40's to 70's would be in love with this little, quirky museum. Just see the photos. Average price tickets, amazing old style coffee shop, but not accessible for the wheelchair users - stair access only.

Worth visiting. It might be more interesting for people from countries that have not experienced the eastern block or are <30 age. Otherwise you might just remember quite a lot of this staff from homes of your parents and grandparents, but it is still interesting for the memories.

This is an amazing museum! The tour takes about 2h and it is totally worth it. You’ll get a very detailed insight of the life under the communist times in many aspects (fashion, housing, culture, politics evolution). There is also a reconstitution of an appartement which is very great -and once again, detailed-. When you’ve finished with the tour you can have a drink and a snack, and then head to the gift shop which is worth a go !

It's a nice little museum about everyday life during communism rule in Poland. The entrance fee is cheap and it's quite informative. If you want to you can buy an audio guide, but I'm not sure you really need it. In the end of the museum there is a café where you can sit down and pretend you're having a coffee back in the days when Poland was less free than today.

(Translated by Google) Great place! The museum clearly and legible for all ages shows what was happening in the communist capital - how it was built, what the Marxist propaganda looked like in our country, where people ate and drank in the city. Everything straight from the stories of our grandmothers ☺ It's a sentimental return to, among others holiday moments in the country and fashion, coordinated by the authorities. Personally, I liked the cinema and the WFDiF collection chronicles displayed the most 📽 The place is also adapted for foreigners, which is a big plus for visiting visitors from abroad :) (Original) Świetne miejsce! Muzeum w prosty i czytelny dla każdego wieku sposób obrazuje co działo się w komunistycznej stolicy - jak była budowana, jak wyglądała marksistowska propaganda w naszym kraju, gdzie się jadało i piło na mieście. Wszystko rodem z opowieści naszych babć ☺To sentymentalny powrót do m.in. momentów wczasów w kraju i mody, koordynowanej przez władzę. Osobiście najbardziej podobało mi się kino i wyświetlane kroniki zbiorów WFDiF 📽 Miejsce także przystosowane dla obcokrajowców, co jest dużym plusem dla przyjezdnych odwiedzających z zagranicy :)

At first it was a little difficult to find the small door to this museum. We can keep our heavy outers while enjoying this place at front desk. (Translated by Google) It's a bit small for the price of the ticket, but still very interesting. Made with an idea, it evokes nostalgia. (Original) Jak na cenę biletu to trochę małe, ale i tak bardzo ciekawe. Zrobione z pomysłem, przywołuje nostalgię.

Cool museum showing how life was in communist poland. Lots of nostalgia for people who experienced that life. Many items from all the different aspects of life and society. Only downside is that its a little bit small and can be quickly explored in 30-40 minutes.

Tourist trap, pointless, the place is very small and people are running everywhere.. That's not a museum... You can learn much more about Warsaw history in any of theses big and nice museums of Warsaw where you will spend not 20 minutes but 4 hours and end up paying the same price.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting. It seems very small to me for what it was in its time but surely we should not exaggerate so much. It depends on the country you come from, you will feel more or less identified. (Original) Muy interesante. Me parece muy pequeño para lo que fue en su época pero seguro que no hay que exagerar tanto. Depende del país que vengas te sentirás más o menos identificado.

Very nice museum about the life of polish people during communism. The place Is little and the atmosphere is a little like being in a house, and there Is also a bar in 70s style where you can actually eat and drink retro food.

Very pleasant experience. Museum is not too big and set up wel. As a foreigner, the audioguide is recommended ( you get a walkman which is a nice touch). The guide gives clear and interesting information but not too long. Really gives a good insight of the life in Poland during communist regime. Also the cafeteria has a working coffeemachine from the 70'were you can enjoy a coffee from. Really worth a visit.

I visited the museum in 2016 when it was in a different location. It's a simple, fairly small place run by enthusiastic volunteers. I very much enjoyed the hour or so I spent there. If like me you've never had the misfortune to experience life under a totalitarian dictatorship I think you would get a lot out of it. Give it a go.
