Reduta Ordona

Tourist attraction Museum Historical landmark

👍👍 A very important place for history, but extremely neglected. It's worth seeing, but it's also worth taking care of it, and I'm talking to the Warsaw authorities. People often mention Reduta, monument,

Such a low-cost monument, erected by social activists in a street that looks like something taken from a remote village in Zamość, and not a street in a city with a population of one and a half million. No information why here. Nothing more than a quote from Mickiewicz.

(Translated by Google) Warsaw. Redoubt No. 54 and 56 were to defend Warsaw against Rysy during the November Uprising of 1830. It defended it from September 6, 1831. And they do not teach about this in history at Polish schools. This is what it looks like. Disgrace with the authorities of Warsaw. (Original) Warszawa. Reduta nr 54 i 56 miały bronić Warszawę przed Rysami w trakcie Powstania Listopadowego roku 1830. Broniła od 6 Września 1831 roku . A o tym nie uczą na historii w Polskiej szkole. Tak wygląda. Hańba władzą Warszawy.

ORDON'S REDUTE was commemorated at Na Bateryjce Street. The place with the monument itself looks interesting and aesthetic. The surroundings, not necessarily. The actual location of Reduta 54 has still not been worthy of commemoration. The name of the nearby Reduta shopping center and the Reduta Ordona railway station, as well as the boulder-monument nearby, are the result of many years of incorrect location, caused by the Russians placing there an obelisk commemorating the victorious assault of the tsarist troops on Warsaw. This error was perpetuated by the erection of a cross and a monumental stone there in 1937 by the Polish authorities. In fact, it was in the vicinity of Na Batteryjce Street that the Ordona Reduta was located. The correct location was confirmed during archaeological research in 2010-2013. It was determined that the redoubt stretched for approximately 200 m. However, its orientation and exact shape could not be determined. The boulder with the date September 6, 1831 is part of the first commemoration, which was carried out on a voluntary basis by the Reduta Ordona Association, which has been demanding for many years to preserve this place for posterity.

A place hidden so that only those who care about it will find it. An important symbol, forgotten by the city authorities, in a completely neglected environment. A nod to social activists who still care about his fate.

Originally, it was believed that the Ordon Reduta, the site of the November Uprising, was located in Wola. The current location was confirmed in 2010 based on the fragment of the moat and protective embankment located here. During subsequent work, archaeologists discovered the remains of soldiers - mainly Russian, but also Polish, as well as elements of clothing and weapons. A well-kept historical place, I recommend visiting it.

A monument commemorating the events of September 6, 1831. Unfortunately, the area around the monument itself is very neglected and littered. This is even more surprising because, according to archaeological research, this is the real site of Redoubt 54. The area should be subject to thorough archaeological work to undoubtedly confirm that it is the site of the battles for the Redoubt. Then, this place should be developed so that it is an example to everyone that Poles care about their history.

The monument itself is maintained in an exemplary manner by the former railway technical school, now a car, but the surrounding area is neglected by the owners and the Office - no road, no sidewalk, holes in the ground secured with tires and order as in a deserted area.

tu widać najlepiej, jak władzom miasta stołecznego zależy na naszej historii, coś jak kiedyś władzom Gdańska w sprawie Westerpaltte

Ordon's Redoubt. A very important historical site that commemorates Polish resistance against Russian forces in The November Uprising (1830)

(Translated by Google) There was not much left of the redoubt itself. But it is a historically and literary cult place. (Original) Z samej reduty tam wiele nie zostało. Ale to historycznie i literacko kultowe miejsce.
