This is a great museum. It was large and had signs in English and Polish. The staff were very friendly! The museum in itself was great. A large number of displays that provided a deep view in the Polish communism and the uprise and rebel of the polish people. This is perfect after going to the WWII museum to provide a more modern understanding of Poland’s history. The interactive displays are great. They also did an excellent job of combining displays with recreates of rooms and places etc. They emerge you into the environment creating an excellent experience. The exhibits provide a great in-depth view to life in the war! This is a must stop if you are in Gdańsk!!!

I really liked this museum. Learned a lot about Polish history and the Solidarity Union. The audio guide was great. Spent much more time here than expected. One tip: the audio guide also has an interesting part if you take it with you on the roof terrace.

The European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk is a beacon of historical remembrance and contemporary enlightenment. Its extensive exhibitions transport you back in time, providing a profound insight into the Solidarity Movement. The architecture is a symbol of industrial heritage, while the green rooftop symbolizes hope. Each corner tells a story of resilience, making it a riveting, educational journey. The staff's dedication enriches the experience, making it a must-visit epitome of Poland's enduring spirit.

Great museum makes you really think about the strength and bravery of the Polish people to achieve freedom from Russian domination. We should all thank them for their service and fortitude. Everyone should visit

It's simply great. Modern museum at its best. The installation are unique and inventive. The collection is very extensive. The multimedis storytelling is very well done. It's a superb snd educational experience that I can recommend to anyone. Reserve 2 hours, 3 if you really want to read and watch every little thing around.

Awesome place everyone must be visiting on their trip to Gdansk. Personally, I'm not a fan of audio guides but for this exhibition I highly recommend it since it is planned perfectly and the guide is interactive with the rooms. Long tour takes about 2.5-3 hours where the short one lasts 1 hour less. Nothing more, anybody who is concerned for these solidarity values would be in love with the place after the visit. Go and check here out immediately, you won't be disappointed!

Firstly I visited here for my free time without a big expectation. I bought a ticket there and went through the museum with an audio tour device. Since it was my first time in Poland, I had not known some historical events well. Throughout the tour, I could get to know how Poland could turn into democracy from communism by some tragic but honorable events. Thanks to this, I feel I could keep enjoying my travel in Poland.

Awesome place, buy with the audio tour, it triggers when you are in certain points and guides you through. Lots to see. Anyone with an interest in freedom, human rights, free speech should see it (and all jaded politicians to remember what happens when you don't listen to the people)

Quality of Solidarnosc impressed me the most out of many others I have been to. Huge building, audio guide that tracks you while you are moving from one to another room. Eye-opening exhibition with many videos, photos and personal belongings of those who took part in movement. 3 hours passed like 30 minutes. At the very end you’ll be offered to visit 6th floor where is spacious terrace.

Absolutely recommended for visiting when being in Gdańsk. It takes 2-2.5 hours to see, read and listen to the audio guide and get inspiration by the exhibition. I loved that place for its price as well. I paid 10 zł and was completely satisfied after. I’m really glad to know that there are places like this one! I was very interested in learning more about the formation of democratic Poland

A must-visit location in Gdansk! Everything is done beautifully, from the building itself to the representation of Solidarity. Its the place to learn and experience first hand the history of Solidarity, Gdansk and how it influenced not only Poland, but the whole Europe. From the rooftop you can see the shipyard too. This museum is the continuity(historically) of the WWII museum, truly a gem! Average time spend here was about 3-4 hours.

This is a fantastic interactive museum that really thought me about what happened in Poland and Eastern Europe in 1980's. I knew of it but this went into the detail about how it came about. I loved how much thought went into how it's designed and telling the story in an engaging way. My only complaint is it closed too early for me and 3 hours wasn't enough to see everything i wanted!

Fascinating insight into the solidarity (solidarnosc) movement in Poland. The museum's main exhibit sets the scene of life in Gdansk at the time, the struggles of the workers and the eventual collapse of Soviet occupation. The exhibit is both informative and interactive, though does require several hours. The building is a marvel of design, with a rusting ship aesthetic complemented by greenery.

One of the best museums I've ever visited. The ticket includes an audioguide which will explain you the full history from Comunist Poland, the workers protests agains the regime and final liberalization and democratization of Poland. The museum looks so new and information is precise and interactive without being boring. Also many real objects and videos are shown. 2h30min are needed to complete the visit.

Very high, very beautiful. Just a bit sad story. When you come at night at the place, it's even more beautiful! The atmosphere is just amazing at night! Just hop into a city bus and off you go! The city bus will take you on a tour around Gdańsk and this place is not excluded. Just... How can I say it? It's simply most beautiful at night.

Wonderful museum. Should be seen by all visitors to the city. Covers the founding of the Solidarity movement and early resistance movements including those in other Eastern European countries. Some great photos and descriptions of important events. Several multimedia displays are quite well done. Explanations in English are included. The audio guide is highly informative as well. We spent a couple of hours and can’t wait to come back for a return visit.

Excellent museum, I recommend the audio tour where most of the information is best captured and summarized. In the end I felt closer to my fellow European brothers, the Poles. It is a multimedia deep dive into post World War II Poland and the Solidarity movement, with hints towards the rest of the Eastern Bloc countries and the rest of the world. Starting in the shipyard of Gdansk, right where the museum is placed, an overview of the first strike of Solidarity is captivating and detailed. All aspects of Polish society and their yearning for freedom are highlighted, during periods of strikes, a military junta and brotherhood found through faith via "their" Pope, John Paul II. The significance of figures, like Lech Walesa in particular, who struggle for a brighter future, we can only support and have hope for a united Europe and world. Creating a path towards freedom and solidarity for all.

Amazing museum. Location is really nice, close to the docks. The museum is magnificent and 'green' with a lot of plants. Recently built, it includes the museum itself, an incredible library and a café. The permanent exhibition is very interesting and well worth the low ticket price. The audio guide is incredibly interesting (and also automatically detects objects and areas). Worth visiting!

Very enlightening - very moving. Almost mindblowing. The story of how the changes for the shipyard workers came into being, and the troubles ahead of 1980, is just fascinating and heartbreaking. Recommend to anyone to whom humanity, democracy and peace matters.

World Class Museum! This is truly one of the best museums I have ever had a chance to visit - both in terms of architecture and curation. Situated in a historic Gdańsk Shipyard - birthplace of Solidarity Movement - takes you through Poland’s workers journey to freedom and eventually fall of communism. An absolute must see if you are interested in the recent history of the country and entire region. Europe starts here!

The best museum I have ever visited. Great explanation of Solidarity movement. Walking through the museum and listening the guide, I felt like I'm in some movie and watching everything in a real time. You need at least 2-3 hours for the tour. And it is must visit in Gdansk. I learned a lot about Poland history.

Definitely worth the visit to get an insight into the history. Through the audio guide tour and the many exhibits and boards it was informative and interesting. We would have wished for some digressions in the direction of other affected countries.

The Solidarnosc Museum was one of the most impressive museum visits in my entire life. The exhibition was very interesting and, due to many original exhibits, very authentic as well. You are provided with an audioguide available for various languages, including Polish, German, English, French, Spanish and some more languages. The audioguide recognizes in what part of the exhibition you are and automatically updates while moving to another exhibit. Of course you can also rewind and fast forward manually. The museum tells the entire story of Solidarnosc including the prehistory and even a brief outlook. The visit is constructed as if a framed story was told and you can decide what parts are worth to be heard in more detail. There are many interactive exhibits, e.g. a smart-table where many photos are provided. You can zoom in and out and sort the pictures on this table. When enlarging an image, a short text pops up, providing information about the depicted. It really feels like sitting at a table and going through some old images your parents or grandparents stored in a box in their basement. There are many other examples, but it would ruin the "wow-effect" to tell them upfront. The museum does not simply provide information about Polish history or the history of Solidarnosc. You are taken to an emotional trip to the past and, for a short moment, become part of history yourself. I would highly recommend visiting the Solidarnosc Museum. It was an experience I would not want to miss!

Inspiring place. It’s a museum devoted to the history of the Solidarity movement in Poland during the 1980s. This building is very open - there is public space inside with trees and various plants. There is an observation deck on the rooftop with free admission and it offers views over the area of the former Shipyard.

(Translated by Google) Cool center. I advise you to visit the museum, where they will tell you very lively and interestingly about the Solidarity movement - modern media are used, the exhibits can be touched with your hands. The building itself is very pleasant. There are trees inside, there is a cafe for snacks and a large library, where it is very quiet. Anyone can take books to read. (Original) Классный центр. Советую для посещения музей, где очень живо и интересно расскажут о движении "Солидарность" - используются современные медиа, экспонаты можно трогать руками. В самом здании очень приятно находится. (Translated by Google) If you would like to visit an interesting place during your stay in Gdańsk, the Solidarity Center may be a very good choice. The building itself is quite interesting both in terms of its construction and interior design, and the proposed exhibitions relate to a period that is very important both for our country and for the whole world. I visited the facility with an audio guide and I have to admit that the program is quite fine, you can not have any reservations, but if you would like to visit this place with children, this topic is probably not for them. When it comes to ticket prices, they are not too high, taking into account the range of tours offered. I personally liked the facility very much. I recommend. Polecam.

(Translated by Google) An exemplary and organized contemporary museum - especially in terms of the exhibition itself and its content. The included audioguide gives a lot of money and is a pleasure to listen to. The visiting time of 2 to 3 hours allows you to generally see the exhibition. Viewers are not "flooded" by a wall of text (descriptions and stories) or too many exhibits - the whole tone is sufficiently moderate. This place can be recommended to anyone who would like to learn about the history of Solidarity and the historical background associated with it. The shape of the building and the arrangement of its interior are also delightful - they fully reflect the atmosphere of combining the industrial character of the neighboring shipyard with modernity.

(Translated by Google) It inspires admiration both from the outside and inside. A big plus for an audio guide in the ticket price. Even bigger, for thermal disinfection of equipment. The exhibition itself is prepared at the highest level. With the audio guide, we will go smoothly through the entire history of the People's Republic of Poland, we will not get bored - despite the fact that the whole thing takes about 2 hours. I really liked the ending in the last room - it's worth listening, especially nowadays / good message. Unfortunately, the disadvantage that I do not include in my assessment is the bad smell from the bathrooms.

If you are in Gdansk you should visit this museum. This is the shipyard where the biggest strike and struggle for more freedom in modern Poland started! Solidarnośź had its begging here and the museum takes you back in time to learn about the historic events connected to it. A little irritating is the really positive picture of the pope and the catholic church. Also the counterpart to soviet rule - the western capitalist system is portraited in a very narrowed and only positive way.

the best museum I have visited, all museums should be designed like this, interactive and allowing to learn a lot about one subject. I recommend it without any doubts.

Absolutely brilliant museum. Engaging from the first moment through to the end. Definitely get the audioguide, it's very well done and gives context to the whole exhibit. One of the top museums I've ever been to.

Really interactive and fun museum. Beautifully made and designed apart from just the exhibitions. Didn't know much about Poland vs the soviet union but am very glad I went. Would recommend!! Excellent English audio. I dont like audio guides typically but make sure you get it for the museum, you won't regret it. Was also a good bonus to visit the observation deck after the exhibitions and to see the shipyard from above.

Amazing place +you can buy the tickets online +there is a view point +there is a souvenir shop and a restaurant +there is a place to leave your clothes and bags +the workers speak English +the main exhibition (the one I visited) is great +the audio support is provided in many different languages -sometimes there are too many people and you have to wait in a line for a long time

It was a wonderful & beautiful museum. Many videos were broadcasted (via use of headset) throughout the museum documenting the Solidarity Movement. It was deep and thought-provoking, as you make your way through the museum. Prior to visiting Poland, I didn't know about this movement. After I researched, I bought a book & I knew I had to visit this museum. At times, I felt like I was transported back in time whilst touring. There is also genuine memorabilia & artifacts on display throughout building.

If you only have time to visit one museum in Gdańsk, CHOOSE THIS ONE! We absolutely LOVED this museum, it truly blew us away. The audio tour was outstanding, so easy to follow, so informative and well laid out. My husband knew very little about the solidarity movement and walked out so amazed. The interactivity of the museum is excellent and again, so easy to follow. You are completely immersed in the time period and transported to each moment through both audio and visual prompts. More museums should use this as a model. Highly, highly recommend.

Inspiring presentation of the story of shipyard workers who stood up to the Soviet machine. Many wonderful pictures, multimedia exhibits, and actual artifacts. The building is beautiful too. Allow several hours and get the audio tour in your language.

This was a very interesting museum about the more recent Polish history. Everything was presented in English, and several of the exhibitions were also interactive. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here.

An extremely underrated museum: as someone who grew up with the Commonwealth high school history curriculum, we learned about the Solidarity Movement as a footnote without much explanation. However this interactive museum told its visitors the origins, development and aftermath of the movement and how life under the communist regime was like. Everything was presented in English. Don't forget to visit the less visited hall nearby where the Solidarity Movement was made.

Absolutely fantastic museum. The exhibition, the building, the audio guide, shop... everything is so well done. This story will not only inform and entertain, it will move you to tears

Both historic museums in Gdansk are perfect example that history can be fun and intresting. Exhibitions are very interactive, including papamobile, military car, room replicas and many more. Audioguide is very recommanded - gives you the basic information and leads you through the museum, if you want you can explore detailed exhibitions for hours. Our really quick basic visit was 1,5 hours.

A must-see museum dedicated to modern Polish history & "Solidarity", the Polish civil resistance movement against Communist regime. The building itself is very modern, accessible and easy to navigate and the permanent exhibition has huge amount of exhibits. There are also many interactive parts of the exhibition. Great place to learn more about the modern history about Poland (and Europe) and about the struggle for freedom in Communist Eastern Europe. You can buy tickets online to skip the queue and the audioguide (comes with individual ticket) is very informative.

Absolutely fantastic museum, a must-see in Gdansk. It explains the struggle during the communist era and the transition to democracy, with the focus in the Solidarity movement. It has great features, like the 70s style apartment, the Police riot truck or the interrogation room. The architecture, inside and outside the building is also very nice. One of the best and most interesting museums I have ever visited.

Amazing complex. The library is amazing and the rooftop is also quite nice. I would definitely recommend going there if you are into some green and modern architecture or need a place for remote work.

We really enjoyed this muesum their permanent exhibition was very good. You can get an audio guide, and they are on two settings 2.5 hours or 1 hour. We went for 1 hour, and it went through the exhibition guiding you and telling you to look at certain artefacts, pictures, or items explaining as you went. It was a really good history lesson it's amazing what the Polish shipyard workers achieved. I didn't know the history of the union workers well. It was well documented, and the exhibition wasn't too long, just right, I think. The message of solidarity with your fellow human beings was strong. I would recommend going to the roof garden too it was really pretty.

This is a must-see attraction in Gdansk. Lots of history about bringing down communism and establishing unions for better wages and living conditions. 2-3 hours would be enough to see the whole museum. They do have audio self tour guides available with price of a ticket. 4 hours of parking is free in their underground parking lot with purchase of the ticket.

Impressive! Modern museum with a lot to see and learn. Quality settings, I recommend visiting when in Gdansk. You can leave your jackets and get an audio guide, both included in the ticket price. It's a bit crowded on Sunday, better to visit Mon-Fri.

One of the best museums I've been to. Extremely informative and powerful. The audio guide sets the scene perfectly for the exhibits in place. Also recommend taking a walk around the shipyard just past the museum and also the museum grounds as you can visit the scenes that are described within the museum.
