Even though it's the biggest museum I've ever been, Galicia tells us a very delicate, precious and sad story about the Jews and their remaining cultures in Poland. The museum requires you to read each individual photo descriptions (which totally pays off) and reading all of them can take up to 2h. Both texts and photos are very emotional and touching so I totally recommend reading them all. The temporary exhibition was just in polish unfortunately but everything else was in both english and polish. I gave 4 stars because I think the museum needs a bit of maintenance. Some letters are erased, the path on the floor is almost not visible. Other than that, you also have a good selection of books, t-shirts and small souvenirs plus a café right on the main hall of the museum. A good place to be in such calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I would say it’s absolutely worth visiting if you are patient enough to read long paragraphs (available in English and Polish). I spent 2 hours in this museum. The first half tells you a story about a Jewish family that in an attempt to save their lives had to leave their home in Poland and move further East towards Russia. Their journey to Israel moved me to tears because it involves a whole different aspect. How they prayed in secret, how they had to work for 8 hours in extremely cold temperatures, how they once were people who provided shelter to others and now they had no home. But I say we should never forget the pain experienced by them because these are cruelties against humanity and they should never ever happen again. It also includes the story of Polish people along with Poland’s Jewish people. The second half of the museum depicts the lost heritage of the Jewish people that includes a number of things like destroyed synagogues, crematoriums of people who couldn’t be properly cremated and all of it that is scattered across half of Europe and Asia. Attached are some of the photographs that will give you a peep into the motive behind opening this museum. There is a lot to read so you better start your day with this museum or reserve a separate day for it. Outside is a cafeteria where you can relax after all the reading, buy a novel or two.

The museum exhibits are phenomenal. I took away a star because of the noise. The cafeteria and reception area are right next to the large area of the museum, and there was a lot of clanging, beeps, and talking. It was not only incredibly distracting, but also upsetting. It felt very disrespectful for the museum to be so loud

A very sobering experience and a reminder of the horrors that went on during the war especially for someone like me who did not realise the extent to which Poland suffered due to the fact it is geographically between Germany and Russia, two of the aggressive nations. For someone like me who didn't understand what Poland had gone through during the war, this was an incredibly eye-opening experience from a historical standpoint and a personal perspective. It made my daily worries dissapear because nothing i will ever encounter will be as bad as this. The museum was laid out really well taking you though a story with pictures and artifacts such as letters etc from the time to give you a real feel for the story.

Enlightening but very sad and shocking. All should see this extremely well documented exhibition as history tends to repeat itself. Russia is today currently trying to continue what they did with Jewish people during WWII and did to Ukraine during the Holodomore. All must never forget.

I only expected to spend about 20 minutes here but that turned about 1.5 hours. The photo exhibition on Jewish history and monuments in Galicia is excellent and fully translated into English. The captions succinctly describe the haunting photos. The museum is included in the Krakow Card.

Brilliant permanent exhibition about what Jewish life in Galicia is like after the holocaust - really well organised and thought out. Beautiful photos and superb explanations. Superb temporary photo exhibition documenting current and recent religious life in Krakow's Jewish community

The approach of this museum is different from others, which focus much on the connection between recent days and the history instead of the process of the holocaust. Exhibited photos show stories of places which look insignificant in modern days, but carry in fact devastating history. It is an important perspective to reflect the history: what we do not see nowadays does not mean nothing ever happened. Only three stars because I was expecting further update and expansion since my last visit in 2016, the story about Helena Rubinstein was an interesting portray of this courageous polish jewish lady who's rooted and grew up in the Jewish quarter of Kazimier developed her global success with cosmetics.

Note, museum is about Polish Galicia, not Ukrainian Galicia. Well done and worth a visit, not at all crowded. Exhibits are not old Jewish Krakow, but very recent Jewish history here. Plus exhibits on the Holocaust, mostly photographs with explanations. Very well done and quiet place not frequented by hordes of tourists.

It is located in the Jewish quarter, Kazimierz and fits perfectly with the surroundings. As of beginning of March, there are two exhibitions: Helena Rubinstein and Traces of Memory. I enjoyed greatly a story about First Lady of Beauty: her beginnings in Kazimierz, then first cosmetic launches in Australia and huge success with makeup products later on. Traces of Memory is about a collection of photos with detailed descriptions split into four sections. If read thoroughly, then it takes about 2 hrs to visit.

A very interesting museum. You take a journey of a Jewish families struggle through the 2WW and what they had to go through to get away from the advancing German Army all through there diary and paintings. There are also lots of fabulous photos of war torn Poland. So worth a visit.

Lots of pictures with footnotes and descriptions. There is also a temporal exhibition on a recently renewed patio. I saw a piano on the middle of the main room as well, it must be there for special events. The museum is focused on the polish Jews life and history from pre-war until recent days, you will be done under an hour but its worth it if you're interested on the subject. There is also a cafe and souvenir store so you can relax a little bit there.

My favourite museum of my trip to Krakow. The exhibition starts with a history into Richard Ores, a survior of the Holocaust who had a passion for photography. Detailed images can be seen from the beginning of the war through to modern day, documenting his life and that of the Jewish community.

Very interesting museum showing a collection of pictures from the 1970s, impact of the holocaust and how the Jewish community has reestablished itself in Kraków. The museum has its own collection of bees and whilst we were there, there was an exhibition of how you extract honey from the hives. It was quiet whilst we were there plus there is a large book shop as well.

Lots of attractions for the youngest - writing with chalk or a pencil on the wall, arranging magnetic puzzles, shadow theater. A wonderful colorful setting, and I encourage you to take a cassette with a fairy tale, which can be played in several places during the tour (Original) Bardzo ciekawa, bajkowa ekspozycja Szancer - zarówno dzieciom jak i dorosłym! (Translated by Google) I was expecting something more. One could add more from Jewish history, culture and customs. The place is quite depressing with its content and exhibition, presenting mainly the sad and tragic fate of the Jewish nation. The museum places this nation mainly in the light of a sacrifice forgotten by the state, population, country and the world, forgetting its interesting and interesting traditions that are worth knowing. The exhibition is poor in form and content. Difficult and emotional topic. A huge minus for the cheerful sounds of games from the previous exhibition. (Original) Spodziewałam się czegoś więcej. Można by dodać więcej z historii, kultury i zwyczajów żydowskich. Miejsce dość przygnębiające treścią i ekspozycją, przedstawiające głównie smutne i tragiczne losy narodu Żydowskiego. Muzeum stawia ten naród głównie w świetle ofiary zapomnianej przez państwo, ludność, kraj i świat, zapominając o jego interesujących i ciekawych tradycjach, które są warte poznania. Ekspozycja uboga formą i treścią. Temat trudny, emocjonalny. Ogromny minus za wesołe odgłosy zabaw z wystawy wcześniejszej.

Probably the most boring museum I've ever been to. It's not really a museum, basically just a photo gallery (and a lot of it is about makeup, believe it or not), it's very short and not worth even walking there. Extremely disappointing considering the subject matter. Go to Schindler's Factory instead, it's incredible and makes this place seem like a complete waste of time. Most of the information can be found online anyway and is accompanied by mere photographs. I'm only giving 2 stars because the café was nice, the museum itself is a 1.

Currently, the museum houses the exhibition "In the world of Jan Marcin Szancer's imagination", where you can see thousands of his drawings and wonderful installations. I found this very engaging. It's well laid out. The history of Jewish people in Galicyia is explored in various ways, and the twentieth century through the time line of one family. There is a lovely cafe and a book shop. The venue is a fantastic refurbishment of what must have been a commercial or industrial premises. Adult entry was 17 Zloty in March 2020. Recommended.

A fascinating museum which currently has a very poignant exhibition retelling a families tale of escape from Kraków and how they survived. a true story of human resilience against man's inhumanity. It also highlights the suffering that not only the Jews but the Poles endured during the war not only at the hands of the Nazis but also the Soviets. An exhibition that has not interaction other than reading the text on the displays and the related images but it holds your attention and you just have to keep reading. So glad we visited.

I'm not a fan of museums unless they are organised very well. And this one is definitely well organised. It is interesting even without an audio guide, I've learned a lot about Jewish people of Krakow and Poland in general thanks to this place. I love photography and especially photos with history or personal stories. It was sometimes funny, sometimes very touching as it should be. I loved the room with 10 stories the most. Thank you!

Interesting museum going through the recent history of Jews in Galicia with photographs - the buildings destroyed or left dormant , how they were in their prime, the holocaust and the renewal of this structures Open Mondays - information for the permanent exhibit is in Polish and English, temporary exhibit is currently in Polish but there seemed to be a companion app with English.

A very thought provoking and hard hitting museum. For sure, they are not afraid to ask difficult questions, and certainly do more than some I have seen to challenge the actions of the Polish during, and since the Holocaust. Do not expect an artefact museum, this isn't that kind of a museum

A bit far off the main track, but an excellent musuem with permanent and temporary exhibitions covering Poland's past, especially during the 1939-45 war, and the fate of European Jewry. Very poignant exhibition showing sites of former synagogues, cemetries, and markers for some of the mass graves. There was an excellent exhibition on Madame Helena and the birth of the make-up industry. Towards the back is a further excellent exhibition of life before, during, and after the war by 10 survivors. Go and visit!

Really nice curators and museum staff. We've been there to see a temporary Helena Rubinstein exhibition and I've had the pleasure to see all these photographs, old advertisments and even products from her work - mascara, perfume, poweder, lipstick etc. The position of Museum is great, 15minutes from city main square, in the Jewish neighborhood, which is also a must see if you are visiting Krakow. (Translated by Google) Fantastic exhibition "Szancer, imagine!" - a must visit with a preschool and early school child. Toddlers can draw on the mirror, enter a magic wardrobe, run a choo-choo running through the entire exhibition, arrange huge puzzles, dress up as fairy-tale characters and play their own show, organize a shadow theater ... In times of pandemic, the museum is empty (we were on Saturday), you can have the exhibition just for yourself (we had two hours of fun!). Despite the fact that the whole thing is devoid of touch screens, the children were still delighted - an incredibly creatively arranged exhibition. The older son was also interested in beautiful photos documenting the traces of the presence (or rather absence) of Jews in Polish cities. Finally, after leaving the exhibitions, the children can have fun in the kids' corner (beautiful giant wooden blocks imitating the Old Synagogue). We highly recommend it! (Original) Fantastyczna wystawa "Szancer, wyobraź sobie!" - koniecznie trzeba odwiedzić z dzieckiem w wieku przedszkolnym i wczesnoszkolnym.

Such a devastating and important part of history that is not talked about enough and that we must always remember. The cafe and bookstore is great. Cafe has the best muffins ever! Seriously. Takes time and is thought provoking without being too miserable. Interesting. Getting out was a problem and you exit via the entrance and the place is maze-like so we got a bit lost and asked a manager who was impolite and just waved us in the general direction but this didn't help us much. Front staff very good and helpful. Allow about 3 hours and have a tea break or you get tired of reading all the stuff at one go.

A lot of heavy text reading, and it becomes too repetitive at times and tiring. If you prefer more visual museums, this isn’t for you.

I liked the exhibit a lot. Having spent time as a guide in Prague's Jewish Museum, it was interesting to see a focus more so on the present, than the past. However, given the tragedies Galician Jews have suffered, you may expect the visit to be somewhat emotionally draining.
