Nothing above average 😑 I don't really understand why this restaurant has such high rating. We have had amazing food in the last week in Poland but this restaurant comes in the last place. The staff was very unfriendly, and the food was a complete disappointment.

Excellent restaurant in Warsaw, to try the traditional and local food. Everything is excellent, the food, the service, the place. There are 2 floors, ideally book in the groynd floor, it is nicer but, in the 1st floor is also nice, more private and noisy but a very nice experience. Service is very kind and attentive, the food taste delicious, and the atmosphere is pure Polish ambience. Totally recommended.

Very authentic polish restaurant. The portions are big and everything is so delicious. It is a bit pricey but worth it. That was the best polish meal I’ve ever had. But! They have really a big problem with the reception and cloakroom service. They are not welcoming and even rude. I felt it even on the phone when I called them to make a reservation. They did not want to talk and give additional information, they just advised to call next day to get a table. This is inappropriate for this level of restaurant. I am not sure if I am going to give it a second try, because the service is very important for me. It made me feel like I was unwanted there.

This was simply one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I have ever had. The interior design is very vintage and classic. The service and the food were insurmountable. The owner Mariusz provided some of the warmest, most welcoming service I have ever received. He personally took me through the 15+ desserts they get from their own bakery next door telling me the story and detail behind each one, including pavlova/ meringue and a wide variety of cakes. The dishes were quite traditional but bursting with flavour. The beef tartare is made by a chef who comes out to the table. I strongly recommend a visit here.

This restaurant is a gem. Every time I have guests I always book a table there. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with the lights that make everything special. The food is great, and the service as well. The portions are big. In my opinion the price is right compared with the quality of the food.

Traditional Polish restaurant in terms of cuisine and design/feel. Nice setting, good service. Definitely try the different types of vodka they serve. Good food, large portions. Lively atmosphere.

    1. Nice vibe, looks traditional, perfect place to take foreigners for a dinner :) 2. Food is tasty 3. Good selection of traditional polish cuisine 4. Design is cute but looks like for a Polish wedding 😅 (or maybe someone had a weeding there and all the flowers left ;)) Definitely like it!

Strawberry mousse is nice. A little bit messy and massive decoration, leaves of strawberry are tired. But accuracy of crafting the dessert itself is great. Flat white is not flat white, too much foam. In general place is pleasant, must to visit for all sweet lovers. Beautiful and luxurious decoration due to Christmas. Free water is absent.

My friend and I have visited this spectacular restaurant on Monday 22nd January and we loved absolutely everything there from the very beginning to the very end!!! The staff welcomed us warmly even though we had not booked a table with them before. Our waitress, Ania, was super friendly, knowledgeable and professional (she brought dozens of bottles of digestive selection to our table without us askibg for it even!:), she shared her extensive knowledge about the food and vodkas they serve there too!). I will be definitely going back there and can recommend this marvelous place to anyone who appreciates great quality!! Overall score: solid 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the most beautiful restaurants we visited during our stay in Warsaw. So cosy, so festive, it felt rustic but also elegant and homey. They were preparing for an evening event could only sit us for about 40mins but didn't turn us away and I'm so thankful. We ended up overruning a tad but they didn't mind. The service from reception and front of house through to our waiter and chef who wheeled out a tray to show us how to prepare beef tartare were just tremendous. Very welcoming, attentive and gave us some great recommendations for traditional Polish dishes. Their desserts were amazing. They have a cafe next door which I'd have to come back for if I visit Warsaw again. Would highly recommend.

Stepping through the doors, you're instantly transported to a bygone era with opulent wooden furniture and nostalgic lighting. The timeless charm sets the stage for an outstanding dining experience where classic meets modern in the elevated traditional menu. From the hand-cut Tatar to the high-quality cold cuts and moist pierogi, each dish stands out with exceptional flavor and authenticity. Cap it off with the must-have meringue dessert for a perfect finish. Polite, warm, and highly competent service adds to the overall excellence. Warning: Bring your appetite, as the generous portions are not for the faint-hearted!

As for me and my girlfriend, it is a very good restaurant. Interior very nice. Maybe the bench wasn’t so comfortable, but you can always sit on a chair :) I really like wine prices :), but first we will start with… starter. We took only one as the waiter said the main courses are quite big - so no food waste. We choose tatar z dojrzewającej wołowiny (tartare of matured beef fillet) - highly recommended not only for taste but also for show - see my video :) For main I have pieczeń z jelenia z buraczkami i kluskami śląskimi (Deer braised in a red wine sauce with Silesian dumplings and pan fried beetroot - AMAZING!!! WOW!!!). My babe ordered pół kaczki z codziennego wypieku (roast half duck prepared daily - same level of food orgasm!). Both dishes have excellent extras. Stuff very nice and helpful. We were full and we bought dessert in their confectionery. Highly recommended restaurant for Polish food.

Everything about this place is just great. You will pay a little bit more than the average price, but it pays off big time. The food quality is excellent. Most of the times restaurants in Poland are heavy on pork, which is justified as that's the main meat used in Polish dishes, but in Stary Dom they have plenty of beef/deer/veal dishes and stuffings that would usually made of pork. That's one thing that makes this restaurant stand out. Our waiter was one of the best I ever had and probably the only one I gave such a huge tip :) Even the deserts are of super high quality and taste amazing although a bit overpriced compared to the other dishes. Definitely try the meringue cake. Anyone who visits Warsaw should make the trip the the southern part of the city to eat at one of the best restaurants in the city.

Cozy restaurant in residential area of Warsaw. The name “Stary dom” (“Old house”) is hard to understand until you get inside. The restaurant is located in nothing remarkable modern building. But this is until the moment you open the door and walk into. Here you really immerse into the atmosphere of old Warsaw house of 18-19 centuries. Wooden balks structures, which have become main decorative elements, are carefully restored. Interior with soft light and heavy curtains. The cuisine is Polish with heavy hearty dishes but gourmet. Wide selection of local drinks and nice service will make your evening perfect.

After many visits I think it's time to write an opinion! Stary Dom has almost become a tradition every time I visit Warsaw, and it often happens! I have never gone from there disappointed, possibly because I never did manage to eat myself through the dessert menu! The food is well-cooked and delicious! However, I think you have to have a taste for the traditional Polish cuisine to fully appreciate the menu. The steak tartare is clearly one of Warsaw's best! I have eaten my way through almost the whole menu, and can just say the food is lovely! The price level is on the higher scale but absolutely corresponds to what you find on the plate The venue and decor are charming and cozy! The atmosphere is a pleasant balance between solemn and everyday! I think i will continue with my visits!

Located on the southern part of the downtown, this traditional Polish restaurant offers all the classic local dishes with a warm and friendly atmosphere as well as traditional decorations. The beef tartare is a must have classic dish, they prepare it in front of you and the food is really tasty. Then I tried the beef cheek, another local meal and the meat was very soft and tender (could have been warmer though!). Drinks wise, they have an extensive menu of wine, beer and of course Vodkas which were pretty great overall!

Absolutely amazing , magical place. You can't missed that in your next visit to Warsaw. Service on outstanding level. Food mouthwatering. From the first step into that place I was feeling welcome. My first visit was in October, on Sunday I was only one day in Warsaw a d decided to come back there. That Tatar show. 😍 Amazing Only one down think is you can't book a table online, need to call them so for foreigners it can be challenging

An amazing experience thanks to the kind staff and tasty food. We wanted to try the traditional polish food and it was absolutely delicious. The waiter even did a tour through the restaurant with us and told us some interesting facts about their restaurant. It was a pleasure! We will definitely be back in the future. 🙌🏻

The best way to describe how to handle a misunderstanding with the reservation was to be offered 2 shots of amazing wódka with the manager of the restaurant. From that moment the supper was more than pleasant, service perfect, food great, wine as well. It was my third time here and I can only spend once again great words for this place, a milestone of food and beverage in Warsaw, so recommended if you wanna know and touch classy polish kitchen. Thank you!

Absolutely delicious food! Reasonably priced, can spend 20-40 złoty per person or more than 200 złoty per person, depending on what you get or how much alcohol you consume. Beets are just like mum makes! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The mood is good, the food is good, the price is good!

Wonderful atmosphere and professional service team. The dishes were good, but didn’t wow me. The flavour of the deer was rich and seasoned properly. But beef tartare and carpaccio disappointed me. The price was a bit high for me. And a service charge of 10% was added to the bill. But I think it was a good choice to dine here.

If you are looking for the place with great ambience and traditional Polish cuisine in Warszawa - this is the place. They have all including vodka, great selection. So I highly recommend. Our last experience of the restaurant was actually mixed. We had the most confused waiter ever. It was fun. He forgot everything but we got our food. It was great but ..... but there were hidden expenses - the 10% fee (tip) is added to your check (hard to find in the Menu, as it is written with a very small letters). This is highly disappointing and not very clever. Worth complaining.

Savoring the delightful fare at this establishment was a voyage of flavors. The pierogi here are unparalleled, truly the best I've had, each bite takes your mouth to heaven. The Chicken Kiev and beef showcased a standard of high quality, though our palates are keen to explore other offerings next visit. The Stary dom coffee presented a distinct brew, adding a unique touch to our dining experience. Of the eateries we've ventured to in Warsaw, this one tops the list, making a strong case for a revisit. A word to the wise, the still water may appear as a treasure, but its price tag is not as gentle. This is certainly a spot to indulge in while exploring the charming streets of Warsaw.

Overall 10/10 Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 One of the best restaurants in Warsaw. Honestly, never thought I was a fan of Polish cuisine, but proved wrong. Absolutely delectable. I never understood beef tartare and never thought I’d try it, but Stary Dom changed my outlook on raw beef 360°. Everything here is delicious, even something as simple as sauerkraut is memorable. Service here is on a such professional level. The atmosphere is suitable for both lunch and dinner as well as business and family. Perfect place for family gatherings and to bring guests who are visiting the city. For dessert we got the raspberry meringue, which was just perfect. If you fancy a coffee but don’t want the caffeine, their decaf coffee is very good. All in all, a new favorite and a must visit. Highly recommend the following: - Duck Leg - Silesian Pirogies with Meat - Beef Tartare (even if you think you are or a fan!) - Mixed Sauerkraut (for appetizer) - Pan Fried Beetroot (for appetizer)

The restaurant is a tribute to old world style and comfort food. The decor is beautiful and traditional while also being upscale. The food never disappoints!!!! Tried several dishes, from appetizer to dessert, and everything was tasty and wonderful. I’ve hosted a private luncheon here and the service is first class. Five stars is just not enough!!!!

This place is awesome !!! Really old building, with wooden beams inside, high ceilings and really cozy atmosphere. Huge selection of drinks, vodkas whiskeys and others. Must try beer with honey, if you are a beer lover, it is absolutely delicious! If you order steak tartare chef comes to your table and prepares it there. Amazing experience. Prices are ok for Warsaw, nothing special. Make sure you visit this place if you are in Warsaw

I was very disappointed with the restaurant. I was expecting a better one. The inside was very beautiful and in the beginning looked it will be a very nice dinner but...it was.not. after we ordered the starters did not take too long. We ordered two.hot starters, when it arrived both of them were slightly cold, not.good for.that. It happened the same with the main course, was slightly cold which did affect the course. The worse thing was that in the middle of the main course the lights on hour table went off without notice. We could.not see very well.the food plus we.did.order a bottle.of.water and after 20minutes we were still waiting. I could not tell the waitress because there were none. I have to stand up and go to the main door and explained the situation. This is unacceptable. I did not enjoy the experience. I think the place has potential but my experience was bad.

Place is very authentic , historical and was beautifully decorated for Christmas ! The only thing I wasn’t impressed : food is very heavy. As I don’t eat meat , the options were a bit limited I took veggie pierogi but they were very heavy and a bit fattish, not particularly delicious. Better you do meat there. Sernik was out of stock

  • 5/5 Ya S. 2 years ago on Google
I would sat it is more exponsive than similar restaurants, but you get slightly better service and taste. Tatar is highly recommended. Probably it is the main feature of the place. Pork knuckle was also the best I've tasted in Warsaw.

If you are looking for a traditional polish meal then stop by here. It was my first time having cold beets soup and it was almost like drinking tzatziki with beets. The egg did pair really well with it. The ribs were very delicious and it was coated with their version of bbq sauce. We asked the server how the sauce was made and she said one of the main ingredients was plum. Also, the ribs were paired with horseradish which was a first for me. I’m not a big fan of horseradish so I didn’t pair it together but my partner says it works. Lastly, the star of this meal was the roasted duck. The dish was huge, came with 2 full size duck legs! It was on a bed of cabbage cranberry sauce with mashed potatoes. The duck fell off the bones. It was so tender and the skin was still crispy. This was one of the best duck dishes I’ve had in Poland.

Nice place but a small problem for us. Cold meal without purée for one of the guests. No discussion they changed it as fast as possible, apologised and removed the meal from the bill. Would have been better they spot it before it reaches our table

This is probably the best restaurants I visited on this trip although it is not at the center of Warsaw and in order to get there you need to use transportation. Although it is not so common on guiding tours and Facebook groups the food there was absolutely wonderful and the service above and beyond

  • 3/5 Sara V. 1 year ago on Google
Good typical polish food, I specifically recommend the ribs they were great. The staff was very friendly and the service was fast. My only suggestion will be to check the check as I found a charge for the service which after asking some locals is something voluntary.
