    I was scheduled to stay at this location for one night, upon checking in there was a guest irately complaining about bugs in his room. The second I walked in the room I was welcomed with a strong urine odor. I proceeded to check the bed and saw two bugs and the sheets were stained yellow. The room was completely filthy. I grabbed my belongings and went downstairs to request a refund and check out within 5min of checking in. There was no alternative offered to me the cleaning crew was not on site. I left the location and was told i would receive my refund. I called back a week later and was told i wasn’t receiving a refund based on no bugs were found under the pillow as if they were going to stay still and wait for other people. This place is completely disgusting, dirt all over the property, the fitness facility was under construction and hasn’t seen a human in decades.

    Appearance of this hotel looks good. The location is convenient. I stayed there for 2 nights, first day I noticed cockroaches and dog hair on the floor and promptly complained, I was expecting it to be cleaned up, but surprisingly that was not the case. They didn't clean it up, till the time I was there. They have maintenance issues, the bath tub was draining really slow, but they didn't have anyone to fix it, we had to accommodate. In all, avoid this hotel.

    *not truck friendly, rooms are overpriced and it is a shamble of mediocre infestation.* As an American truck driver, we spend long days picking up freight , from the coastal cities to deliver to the American people all over including long drives to the Midwest. My wife accompanies me, and today had been a doozy for her with the heat and humidity..Today had been long, a full 14 hour day, and we needed a place to park so we could rest for tomorrow. I went in and inquired about parking as they have a huge lot designed for semis, and was promptly informed that unless we paid over $100 bucks for the basic room… not including the security deposit, nor pet fee… we weren’t welcome. After reading all the reviews about the bug infestations and filth we absolutely had no intention of paying for a room! Needless to say we didn’t stay. Absolutely unwelcoming. If we ever need a place to stay, we will spend our hard earned money elsewhere, where we are respected and where it’s deserving of it!

    I don’t recommend, we got stuck in NYC because of an accident and I called to request a late checkout but the lady said the latest checkout would be 11:30 am I told her we would try to get there, I called again cause weren’t going to get there on time until around 11:55 am so I kindly requested an exemption to checkout at 12 pm and she said it could cause to charge the $50 deposit but she would wait for us, then we checkout everything was fine but I never got my $50 back so I called and she said she didn’t see me checking out, so I said I will summit a dispute with my bank I am not going to pay $50 for something most hotels offer, in most hotels they let people checkout at noon, but whatever this was a horrible experience plus there’s not a free shuttle to the airport, this is a hotel that’s very close but don’t offer shuttle, they are cheap and don’t treat their customers nicely. very disappointed.

    Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. Carpets and one of the beds stink so badly of pee when I checked in late. I have requested for room service and was told I just checked in and will get service on a different date??? Unbelievable!!. Have it on my door “maid service needed” for the past 2 days and nobody is supporting. Maids keep passing by. What kind of management is here? Very insensitive, careless and absolutely no knowledge of what basic customer service is.

    The staff are nice and they communicate with you, the price was great. The room was worn but clean. Absolutely loved the shower. Had the animal smell, but pets are allowed so, to be expected. overall didn’t have a problem, and the location is good! Could use some better wash cloths, and overall laundry, our sheets and towels looked worn out and dirty, the bedding had wholes. I would stay again

    First and foremost, I stayed in this hotel 10 years ago when it was still a Holiday Inn Express. The experience then was much more pleasant than it was since it became Red Roof Inn Plus. This time, there was a lot of construction going on. The rooms felt less hospitable. The beds were uncomfortable, the refrigerator didn't keep anything cold, and the TV constantly went out for several moments. The on location restaurant was closed for "renovations", and the hallways smelled of strong construction and/or cleaning chemicals. During the night, there were very loud noises, some sounded like people yelling while others sounded like banging and drilling as if the construction were continuing overnight. The hotel did have a sign at the front desk apologizing for the inconvenience, but that didn't help me sleep any better

    The absolute worst hotel I ever stayed at!!!! No compassion whatsoever!!! Stay an extended stay and they find some "policy" to kick you out on when at first it was no issue at all. DON'T GO HERE!!! Sheets are dirty, walls are dirty, tub is dirty and doesn't drain properly. WIFI is just SLOW,SLOW, SLOW or at times doesn't work at all!!! The only positive experience was the pizzeria on site. Maybe one of the best pies I ever had. Other than that, a complete mess of a place.

    Well where do I start... when we first arrived on on November 3rd 2023, checking in seemed normal but it turned out that there was no elevator. Not a problem if you're a body builder or you don't have much luggage. The place smelled like some kind of bad citrus air freshener trying to cover up something. Next morning I woke up to bed bugs. Immediately I packed my things, went to the lobby and checked out. I showed the attendant the dead bug and asked for a refund but they denied it but did let us check out. 3 days later I'm finding welts that itch like heck. If you go to this Red Roof don't let them put you in to room 209. In hind sight the citrus smell is used to wort off bed bugs. Beware!

    Absolutely horrible. The general manager wanted me to pay $50 for my SERVICE DOGS even after I provided him with the proper documentation. He made me check out early after I booked for a week and according to my bank the refund was cancelled from the red roof end. The hallways were absolutely disgusting, I have video evidence, the doors opened very easily (unsafe) have video evidence of that as well. I also have a video where I have corporate on the phone telling the GM my service dogs are welcomed and he STILL made me check out early and CANCELED my refund.

    We stayed here for 9 days after the Hertz Rental Car Agency messed up our moving truck reservation and we were stuck in Newark, NJ of all places for over a week. ===. The room wasn't bad. Traveling with a dog, Red Roof allows animals with no trouble. I am grateful for dog-friendly spaces. We found the room to be clean, in good working order, although there were some cockroaches. While this is gross, it's somewhat to be expected. It's NYC Metro. Everywhere has cockroaches. NYC is a filthy city. The area isn't nice. None of northern New Jersey is nice. Mostly just a ramshackle place full of drunks and what have you... But it had everything we needed: everything delivered, a great variety of food, I could walk to a shopping center for basic needs, and of course it was close to the airport. It's convenient. It gave us time to sort out the rental car fiasco. Overall, the staff were polite and helpful. The cleaning lady did a thorough and professional job with a smile. I was very pleased with her work. She made the room clean and I made sure to thank her. I felt safe and well-accomodated. I would pick this place over Connecticut any day: CT is full of thugs, especially since the pandemic! Beds were super comfy. I slept very well. Quiet, peaceful, though right next to a highway. Honestly, after traveling the United States and staying in more than forty different states... This hotel was not bad. 2-star, maybe 3-star. But not awful. Basic needs are met. Clean and helpful staff. I even got a few packages delivered, and Walmart groceries delivered. No problems. We stayed the week with no trouble. Pool still closed from COVID: no amenities. But for a safe, reasonably clean place to stay near to the highway and airport, low prices and dog-friendly, with the abundance of 'everything delivers' it wasn't that bad. I would not choose this as a destination, but it was a welcoming and fairly safe place. Honestly, way better than Connecticut. Reminded me of why I love NYC.

    I've been there from February until today. I had no issues with the staff clean rooms. Overall quiet.. The new general Manager Manny, I believe is completely racist. I've paid. I've never missed a payment. Never had a late payment and he assures me that he is not going to extend my stay or accept any money from me and I asked him what the reason was and he stated because he's the general manager and he has a say in who he allows in the building. I'm quiet. I asked for 1-800 customer service number. He tells me that there is none. I asked to speak to the owner. He says he is the owner. Then says that I'm not allowed to speak to the owner, only He's allowed to speak to the owner. He finally admitted that he's not allowing me to stay there because I've been there too long. I pay I don't have company over. I leave at 7:00 in the morning. I don't come back till 8:00 at night. It's just a place to lay my head. I don't listen to loud music. I'm seven months pregnant and his reason for not allowing me to continue my stay is because he feels like I've been there too long and he's only been there 3 weeks. The staff other than that is great. Leandra is awesome! Richard is awesome! Pat is awesome! Selena is awesome. Had no problems, complaints or concerns until this new GM came in. I've never said one word to him. The staff was training him on his job. I've never had a disagreement with him but he seemed to not like my kind should I say from the get-go. I am highly disappointed and I will continue to tell family and friends that I have that come and visit the Carteret area that this is not the hotel to come to.

    Not far from the airport or the highway. I would suggest booking with them directly- third party websites offer special deals, but you will have to goo through them with any changes/adjustments. There are places to eat/shop at that you can walk too. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the queen beds were definitely smaller than they should have been. Also, we have unwanted guests show up in our room (roaches). Aside from that, it was a nice stay.

    The Wifi here is a mess, although the network within that area is not exactly strong, the management should at least get a stronger bandwidth. Sometimes the passage smells overnight because the staff do not take out the trash . The top floor which no one goes to and staircases are a mess. Floor has stains . No elevators, The exit doors are open 24/7 and anyone can easily walk in. The guest toilets and sinks are filthy.No security presence . Nothing in the mini bars in the room. No bottled water except at the restaurant or you have to walk down the halls to buy drinks and snacks at the vending machines . Most of the times you have to come down to press the bell and get a receptionist to attend to you because they don’t pick up your calls from your hotel room. Couldn’t call the restaurant to place an order , I had to come down and request. The intercom numbers are all messed up, I called house keeping and it redirected me to another guest’s room and I was informed this is how all the franchises are??? Pathetic.

    Located right at the highway exit - its great for leaving and entering Newark but the benefits stop there. The hotel is a Red Roof Inn Plus but is truly a minus in all aspects. There is no room service, there are ongoing renovations which you do not get notified of ahead of time, the pictures DO NOT match Red Roof's website, not to mention half the items in our hotel room was either dirty or broken. This franchise is a disgrace to the Red Roof brand as we have had much more pleasant experiences in other cities at similar price ranges, which is why we trusted the brand to come here. Red Roof HQ needs to evaluate whether this hotel deserves to be included in its roster, on top of whether it is worthy of being called a Red Roof Inn Plus.

    Can't give them 0 stars or I would. Showed up later in the night to check in and was told that I was considered a no show and lost my room and my money. The guy at the desk straight up ignored me as I was talking to him and was just playing on his computer instead of acknowledging that I was trying to talk to him. He stated that there is an end to the check in time and that I could not check in late at night unless I had purchased multiple days but refused to show me anywhere on any policies or reservation documents that supported that. Ultimately they refused to check us in and refused to refund the reservation, I had to get the police to give me a report to backup a credit card chargeback to get my money back. Terrible service and they'll steal your money if they can, stay away!!

    This "hotel" was horrible the worst I've ever stayed at, starting with how dirty everything was. Clogged tub and dirty. The hallways and rooms smelled like cig. smoke. No blankets on beds. I overall have nothing good to say about my experience. The employee at check in was non chalant about our concerns.

    I came in at the hotel at 9:00 am (I arrived at the airport in Newark at 8:00 a.m.) back in July and didn't know until I got there that they had a check in time for 3:00 pm. Other hotels I've been to (and I'm a frequent traveler) are very accommodating if you come in to check in early. They didn't even offer me to store my luggage until check in time. The lady I spoke to on the front counter said it's shouldn't be a problem to get a refund and that it's really up to Expedia to give you the refund. I contact Expedia and they said the hotel manager has to approve the refund which they didn't after numerous calls by Expedia and myself as well as an email to the manager. I should've at least got a partial refund because I got there well in advance of check-in time and I also did not end up staying at the hotel. The room wasn't cheap either! Very, very disappointing. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

    Location is horrible by factories. Bed is nice and big for a queen size. Bathroom is good with great pressure and clean. Staff had no check ins yet even after getting there 20 minutes before check in time. Television channels are okay but not the greatest. Overall stay was good. Would recommend and would stay again for the price.

    This place is old and dirty. Just close and remodel instead of trying to do bit by bit around regular business. They charge full rate, and pile on a couple fees in a substandard third world motel. It is near a turnpike exit.

    Our room was clean-ish when we arrived. We stayed for 1 week and not once did someone clean our room or change the towels. We ended up buying cleaning supplies ourselves because staying in the room felt disgusting after a couple of days. There even were blood stains on the wall...The location of the hotel is right next to a highway - it's very loud and dangerous when you want to cross the street. The hotel in general just feels very old, unsafe and decrepit. A renovation (of basically everything) is much needed!

    The person at the desk was the only reason I gave this hotel a one out of ten. She was helpful and did her job. Your hotel at this location badly need a renovation. I have never seen such a run down hotel in all my life. Tiles and walls in bathroom with water stains, bathtub missing caulk, musty smell in rooms, beds were in bad need of replacing. Hotel over all has a large lack of maintenance. Almost forgot, saw small black bugs all over, not sure what they were. If only I could take back that day and stay somewhere else. On top of this poor experience they are giving me the sane response they give everyone else who complained instead of giving a refund or fixing there issues.

    I really need to reach out to an owner of this location. Ive had numerous issues with the supervisor of the location. She is disrespectful, not only did myself have an issue. But as well as i heard other guests get upset with her actions. You guys have a really bad roach problem. And the supervisor does not care. The glass doors are never cleaned. And as well as their are bed bugs. I’ve submitted photo evidence to the Health Department. It is unsafe for the health of the guests and any pets that people may bring. Please hire a better supervisor/cleaning staff, or have a sit down chat with her. Ive stayed at this location for 3 months and spent over $5,000. And was disrespected my entire stay. The hall ways have random wet spots on the carpet where water will actually splash out when you step on it. The wifi doesnt reach in all the rooms nor do half the outlets work. The hair dryers definitely do not work. And they converted their laudryroom, and workout room into a storage room. The ac/heat unit did not work either. And the paint was peeling everywhere. If you can afford to go somewhere else. Its well worth the difference.

    Just wanted to stay for one night, upon check-in they tried to charge me an extra $100 as a "deposit" without telling me first, then when I wanted to cancel they already charged me for the one night. The staff was very rude and unhelpful. I have yet to get my refund. On another note, police showed up to the hotel as I was leaving. I was better off not staying here.

    Where do I begin..... When I called to make the reservation I specifically asked if there was a pool. The woman told me "yes" and nothing else, leading me to believe that it was open. When we arrive, I ask what time the pool closes, the woman at the desk tells me it's been closed for weeks due to renovations. It just looked like they put the cover on to me, no tools, it wasn't even emptied.... Also the restaurant connected to the hotel was closed, the work out room was closed, the laundry room was closed, the ice machine wasn't working and there was a poorly patched hole in our room. I've stayed at worse places unfortunately, but this place was pretty bad.

    I was there for 30 minutes and checked-out again. Because I booked via hotwire it was easy to do. It's dirty and bed cloth have holes (like bite holes). There are also holes and spots on the walls. The hallways are way to dirty. The gym was under "construction " but it looked like nobody was in it for a decade. The trash bins were full. I couldn't have slept there. My booking changed to a hotel which has the same star rating. It's a difference between night and day! The receptionist wasn't really happy and wanted me to change rooms but it wasn't just the room which was dirty. Gym weights were also on the floor and the stairs are broken. I was really tired but it was better to check out than getting no sleep

    Tv worked and jacuzzi was nice. However, phone didn't work, alarm didn't work, only 2 coffee packets instead of 4 but coffee machine didn't work anyway! Shower rod was installed improperly so it wouldn't hook on one side. And what happened to the premium room treats we used to get? Also, they were painting outside my door as I was checking in to my room! Pretty disappointing overall!

    Completely disappointed. Hair dryer not working, microwave barely came on, refrigerator sounded like a Mack truck so I had to unplug it as it kept us awake all night. Shower head leaking while it wasn’t even on yet so my sons clothes got wet. Shower spout on the tub lose. Toilet seat was shorter then the actual bowl. I don’t expect much other then simple things working as they should.

    They are thieves. They take 50 dollars for the insurance of the room but they never return it. I called many times. They said that they already sent it to me. It's a problem with the bank. I called the bank and indeed they didn't return the money apart from a room. It cost me 100 dollars. You had to keep 50 more

    The staff was very nice and gave great recommendations for places to visit during my stay. I am not comfortable driving by myself in areas I am not familiar with, especially if the weather isn't good. The staff let me know there is a bus to New York with a stop right outside the hotel and only takes 30 minutes. My room was clean and comfortable and there wasn't any noise from outside so I slept though the night. It was a short drive to the airport and I will stay again when I return to the area. Good value and price for the stay.

    We are very disappointed with this hotel service. We were three people booked for a night. At the time of booking it was mentioned that we can check in anytime after 3.00pm. But on the confirmation e-mail it stating that it has to be before 11.59pm on the same day. If the management can mention that in their website, it will be less complicated for customers. we wouldn't rent this hotel if we aware of this situation. We were on th way to hotel and we called the hotel customer service to cancel this reservation since we can't make it before 11.59pm. As we were confirmed by a customer care agent that we will be refunded for the booking we booked another hotel for staying that. Later in the morning we got response from them saying they can't provide the refund. WE DON'T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL. PLEASE DO CHECK THE OTHER REVIEWS TOO. . 01/10 RATING

    Staff was friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were knowledgeable about the area and gave great recommendations for things to do during our stay. They also helped with all our questions and needs while at the hotel. The room was clean and beds were comfortable which you don’t always find everywhere. We also loved that red roof is pet friendly so we could have our dog with us. Overall was a great stay and we would stay here again.
