Having been a coached athlete with RTA for the past few years for marathon and short course triathlon training, I knew that this was the team I wanted to work with for my first long course triathlon prep after several years off. As an experienced triathlete, and prior Ironman finisher, I wasn’t sure how my work, life, and family schedule would fit the realities of what I thought taking this challenge on again would entail. I cannot say strongly enough how refreshing it was that Coach Elizabeth’s approach is about tailoring the plan to the athlete vs the other way around. The consistent dialogue, engagement, “anything you need to feel confident”, check-ins, part coach/part psychologist approach established a trust that was amazing to have when are in the midst of the highs and lows. What I found remarkable was in the lead up to Ironman Lake Placid I was hitting some of the fastest workout milestones and race results I had EVER experienced. The plan based around quality of hours and not quantity was clearly working. I was never injured from overuse and was able to safely and productively stack week after week of consistency. It all culminated with a well laid out plan for IMLP that we executed perfectly on a tough day. I had two DNFs in my two most recent prior ironmans and was concerned how I would manage the distance on race day. I was so prepared to tackle any challenges and troubleshoot quickly different scenarios you may encounter because WE TRAINED AND THOUGHT OUT those exact scenarios. Two to three came up on race day- I dealt with them, moved on and my day never derailed. As a result of all that, I achieved my first ever Ironman world championship qualifying slot (no roll down!) I’m ecstatic to have achieved this lifetime goal and to race in Nice France in 3 weeks. Elizabeth and Chris are two of the best humans you’ll ever meet and their passion for what they do is clear. The RTA community of athletes is a special group of people of varying levels who love challenging themselves and supporting their teammates at events. If you’re thinking of partnering with an amazing team of coaches and tri team, look no further and drop RTA a note. It may be one of the best decisions you ever make as they will without a doubt help you achieve your goals - no matter what they may be.

2022 was my first year starting triathlon and I had very little knowledge on how to prepare myself for race day. A friend of mine encouraged me to join him to race Eagleman 70.3 and in December, I signed up! I immediately looked through the Ironman website to identify a coach who could help me begin my journey and found Elizabeth. She immediately responded to my inquiry and discussed what RTA is all about, and how they customize training programs for busy people like me (husband, father, little league coach, full time job etc.) Along with coaching, their club provides direct access to a broader community of triathletes of all experience levels, so knowing I wasn't alone in my journey was a good feeling as I was able to ask questions and observe how other more experienced triathletes prepare. Over the next 4-5 months, the coaching experience was fantastic!! We got together for in-person sessions, as well as virtual discussions on my progress. While the time commitment was steep, it all paid off on race day!! Prior to Eagleman, I participated in a Team Race (BoFish) and an Olympic (Harryman), both of which prepared me for my A race. The Team Race was my favorite, as the comradery and energy level really motivated me to train harder. Just prior to Eagleman, Elizabeth put together a comprehensive race plan for me to follow. All throughout the race, I constantly referred to the plan, and what both she and Chris had taught me during the prior few months. Their combined experience was all I needed to help me finish Eagleman with a respectable time (6:11:13) and surpass my own expectations. Without their guidance, I might still be swimming in the Choptank River :) I highly HIGHLY recommend RTA to anyone who is curious about starting their triathlon journey!! I am proud to be part of this club and look forward to my next race.

I recently embarked on my triathlon journey and had the privilege of training with Chris and Elizabeth. From start to finish, my experience with RTA has been nothing short of phenomenal, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! The moment I met them, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. Chris and Elizabeth, exuded a genuine passion for triathlon training, and their expertise was immediately evident. They possess an impressive wealth of knowledge, and their dedication to helping athletes reach their full potential is truly inspiring. Throughout the process, they provided constructive feedback, guidance, and encouragement. Whether I had questions about proper form, nutrition, or race strategies, they were always available to offer their expertise and help me overcome any obstacles. Their passion for the sport is infectious, and they foster a positive and inclusive training atmosphere that makes every session enjoyable.

Have had many coaches previously but Chris and Elizabeth are the most passionate. Their love of Triathalon is infectious and make for some great learning experiences and training days. Enjoyed training camp very much. Would not have survived IM Lake Placid without their assistance.

RTA has consistently exceeded my expectations. I've participated in several one-on-one sessions (swim/run), a group swim clinic, and a training camp. Each experience was impeccably organized, incredibly informative, and highly educational. I wholeheartedly recommend RTA for anyone seeking to navigate the intricacies of the triathlon sport.

I did the one on one personal run coaching session with Chris. The session was very in depth and he gave me lots of great critiques on my running and the how to fix. He ran next to me helping me practice how to fix my form and went over each step. After all was done he provided a typed up document with everything so I can have a reference when practicing on my own. I would highly recommend for anyone struggling with running injuries.

This review update has been a long time coming. Coach Elizabeth and Captain Chris helped me to unlock potential that had been elusive while working on my own. I raced my first 70.3 in Atlantic City in 2022. My time was 6:37 (swim was serviceable; bike was too hard; run took too long; transition was embarrassing). I decided my goal for 2023 would be to break 6 hours. I also decided that I might need coaching to help me do that, but Coach E. had to push me to commit. I waited until the end of March, beginning of April to sign up. Coach E. gave me structure, accountability, and confidence. By the end of the season, I broke 6 hours (time adjusted for a shortened swim at Jones Beach 70.3), but that only tells part of my story. Last season my swim was crippled by panic attacks and breathing failures. By the end of the 2023 season, I had knocked almost 20 seconds off my 100 yard pace and swam my last 70.3 of the season in a literal tropical storm (I feel like I can swim in anything now). My bike times did not improve, but I had to let go of that because over-biking was killing my run. What did improve was my FTP to the tune of 50 watts (which still seems crazy to me). The biggest gain was in my run. From 2022 to 2023 my run went from 2:54 to 2:17. Bonkers. Even more unbelievable is that, along the way, my swim improved so dramatically that I was able to win two 1st place overalls in Aquabike, one of which was a New Jersey State Championship (at 52 years-old). Before 2023, I was certain that I would max out my bucket list at 70.3. After a short season of RTA Coaching, my world changed: I signed up for 9 months of coaching, including extra swim sessions, because I am going to race Lake Placid 140.6. Knowing what I know now, there is no way I would sign up for a full IronMan without a coach (specifically, Coach E.). That's my review for now. I'll post an update after Placid.

As an experienced triathlete, I had the pleasure of participating in the RTA KYAH Camp in Lake Placid. They provided a solid training camp, especially for newer people to the sport. I needed volume and just wanted some camaraderie and support. I got both.  And we always pick up an extra tip or two no matter how many races or camps we do. For me as a Kona qualifier, the camp provided the camaraderie of meeting other people and the flexibility to personalize the distances to our respective goals.

I had a great first session with Chris. The feedback was very detailed and we got to review immediate video in real time. I appreciate the clarity on 'homework' to improve on my stroke. As a beginner swimmer, would recommend to anyone who is looking to build confidence and technique

I am a newbie when it comes to Triathlon and 2023 is my first year starting triathlon. I googled to identify a coach in NJ who could help me with my Tri journey and found out about RTA. I had a call with Elizabeth and she listened to my requirements, and constraints and patiently answered all my queries. She even helped me to find out the ride which will suit my budget and height. Chris has been coaching 1on1 on my swim, in my 1st session with Chris, I couldn’t swim more than 10 yards without stopping. However, exactly after 2 months, I managed my first 50 and 100 yards in one go. This was all possible only because of Chris’s methodical coaching and guidance. Chris keeps his sessions highly engaging and motivating. In his 1hr, 1 on 1 session, he provides immediate feedback to help you with your technique. He explains in a simple manner the WHY-WHAT-HOW of the technique. After the session, he shares the notes, drills, feedback, and areas of improvement on email which is very helpful. Elizabeth is working with me on my bike and run training. Every week she updates the plan for me to follow and she is prompt to answer my queries. In my 1st bike session, she set up the bike for me as per my body size and explained the fundamentals of road biking. she has a great Knowledge of the biomechanics of cycling. I highly recommend RTA to anyone who wants to start their triathlon journey or improve Tri performance. All you need is to give your sincere efforts and leave the rest in the hands of Chris and Elizabeth. Thank you, Chris and Elizabeth !!!

I just had a run form/training session with Chris from RTA and he was amazing! It was about an hour and he addressed literally every single aspect of my posture in a clear and non-judgmental way. He’s super knowledgeable and able to point out what’s incorrect as well as what’s correct such that you can work on it slowly. I have been trying more and more to implement his tips and I look forward to see him again in a couple of months to see if/how much I have improved. Thanks Chris!

Chris is a fantastic coach! I decided to get some pool time with him during an extended stay in New York and couldn’t be happier I did. Over the course of 2 weeks I was able to cut down 10 seconds per 100 yards of my workouts using tips he gave me when observing my form. Would recommend to anyone

I have nothing but excellent things to say about RTA. Elizabeth and Chris are phenomenal to work with and extremely knowledgeable. They got me from couch to the finish line with a continued love for the sport. They also did a great job of updating my training regiment to work with travel schedules and life in general. I look forward to working with RTA more in the future . Highly recommend!

What seemed like a completely lost cause before feels achievable now. Signed up for a triathlon not knowing what I was getting myself into (never having swam before). After months of trying to learn to swim myself/via YouTube, I came in contact with RTA. Wasn't sure what it would be like, but Chris was amazing from the start. Basically taught me how to swim from scratch and has been great in every way. Well worth every penny!

After trying to unsuccessfully swim on my own for a couple weeks, while home visiting family I reached out to Chris and RTA for some lessons. Chris was able to meet with me the next day and provided exceptional support. Not only was he able to help me dramatically improve my form, but was also flexible with his schedule when planning lessons. Chris had a great attitude and will definitely be booking more time when I'm back home in the future. He's been terrific and explains lessons/drills/form eloquently and succinctly.

Chris has been coaching 1on1 on my swim which is my weakest discipline in the triathlon. After only 3 sessions with him I have learned what to look out for in my swim techniques and self-correct them during the swim. With his coaching, I am much more confident with my swim now. In my last sprint distance triathlon (June 12, 2022), I had managed to shave off "many minutes" in the swim legs. Even more satisfying is that being able to swim more competitively, it had help me not to play too much catch up in the bike or run segment which as a result landed me on the 1st place in that event for my age group!!! What was so special about it was this was also my first podium finish in a triathlon event. I don't think I would have achieved this feast without the coaching from Chris!

I started working with Chris and Elizabeth several weeks ago, and my 1:1 training sessions have already had a huge impact. After one swim session, I cut my Ironman PR swim time from 1:17 to 1:09. They've also improved my cycling technique and developed a race nutrition plan I used successfully at IMMT. I highly recommend RTA Triathlon.

I just completed my first 1:1 swimming session with Chris from RTA. In that one session we uncovered/identified a ton of areas to improve on and practiced techniques to address them. Looking forward to continuing to improve in this sport; my journey is just getting started but I'm confident I'll get there with the help of the RTA coaching team!

100% worth it! I had a lot of nerves and anxiety about the swim portion of my first triathlon and decided to join the RTA open water clinic. What a great experience! Chris & Elizabeth made us feel very comfortable and not judged at all for being beginners. We learned the main components of an OWS and had many chances to practice. If you're doing a tri for the first time, I HIGHLY recommend going to the RTA Open Water Swim clinic.

Chris broke down my swim form in the first few minutes of our session. He quickly saw where my strengths and weaknesses were and we immediately got to work on some foundational exercises that would bring my swimming to the next level and prepare me for my races this summer. He also could not have been nicer and more supportive. After our first session he sent me a detailed breakdown of how things went and what to work on. You can tell he loves what he does and wants to see you succeed. I highly recommend.

I recently had my first one on one running and swimming tutorials / sessions with Chris from RTA. Honestly, I have a sports induced asthma and neither running or swimming are my strong suits. But such concerns were quickly put to rest because Chris is such a good teacher. He's so professional, empathetic, and thorough. I learned so much. It's the best money I ever spent.

I attended 2 open water swim clinics to prepare for my first-ever triathlon. Before the first clinic I was apprehensive and uncomfortable in my skin and wetsuit. By the end of the second clinic (after incorporating Chris and Elizabeth's techniques and advice) I was very comfortable and, in fact, confident. The NYC Tri is in a week. The only reason I feel ready for the swim is because I attended these clinics. Thanks to both of you. UPDATE: I attended the RTA training camp in Lake Placid last month. Every aspect of the camp was fantastic, but I want to highlight one aspect: the Nutrition lecture. I have spent countless hours online and in discussions with peers trying to decode the nutrition issue. Coach Elizabeth finally broke it down in terms that were easy to understand and provided tools and a framework that I immediately implemented on my my next training ride (in-ride/run fueling is something I have apparently been doing sub-optimally for a long time). Again, thanks to you both,
