The Ridgewood Public Library is a great library in the BCCLS system. If you have a library card for any library in Bergen County, you can go to the library here, granted with some limitations. The Library has two floors, the bottom floor consisting of primarily children's books. They also have an event hall and a section for teenagers. Both floors have checkout areas. The top floor is more grand and far more silent. It also has an area for activities and is consisting of regular books for adults. The book selection in the library is good, though it is quite loud for a library (particularly the bottom floor). Events are quite common, like the current reading marathon. The only negative is the fact that some chairs are worn apart and that most areas have old chairs and just old things in general.

Great place to bring children with large children's section. Ipads are available for use. Excellent family oriented and free programs. Such as free creative writing assistance group for adults or meet a fireman for kids. Packed with reasonably polite high school kids studying in groups or alone making seating a premium after school hours. Parking lot fills up sometimes as sports fields across the way and city hall all share parking. Includes a small cafe.

Nice library, has the potential to be a great library but fall short. 1. The furniture is old the chairs are ripped up! 2. They have signs on the tables as a reminder to be silent, however there are alot of teens that walk through and are constantly talking and giggling. Even the workers can be kind of loud. There is like no silent quiet area in the library. Years ago they had a room that was designated for silent studying, however I see they turned it into a MAC computer room. I never see anyone in there. 1 nice thing is the bathrooms are nice. I was really shocked bto see it was updated and clean. Overall nice library just need new furniture and space for silent studying. Update: the wifi is really slow. And as always it's always loud in here

Everything here is just perfect except the loud elevator chime sound.. it really scared me a couple of times. And sometimes there are people who chatter loudly in here

Ridgewood may be a charming town, but they deserve a library that is as amazing as their town. This particular library is full of homeless people and so many people that smell and the staff does not do anything. They also don't clean the restrooms properly after the homeless use them. I feel uneasy just sitting down on some of the sofas because of the kind of people that may have sat there before me. If they took care of this issue, this library has so much potential to be a desirable place to go.

Nice library in a charming town, but some of the worst patrons. There is this lady who brings so many bags, and some people who even bring large suitcases there. Another man with a moustache prefers to sit all day in front of the computers. But a lot of people spend all day sleeping or just loitering there, and the staff don't seem to care at all.

This library is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, both inside and out! It's got a wonderful children's section as well as a nice teen specific section. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The computers for patron use seemed to be fairly new. Each of the several floors of the library were immaculately clean and the bookshelves were perfectly organized. In addition to stairs, the library was equipped with at least one elevator - ensuring that every floor is handicap accessible. They will even send faxes upon request for the small fee of $1 a page. This library has a very nice selection of books and videos, as well as board and card games available for use while you're there. There's also a nice auditorium room with a small stage. They seem to have local artwork exhibited too. The outside of the library is lovely as well. Both the front and back have nicely landscaped green spaces, and there's a patio area running along the side of the building with outdoor seating. This was my first time visiting this library. It was a short visit as I was only there to send a fax, but I definitely plan on going back to further explore all this library has to offer.

I hesitate to leave a negative review for the Ridgewood Library, but I feel compelled to share my experience regarding the behavior of one of the front desk staff members. On two separate occasions, it appeared that this particular staff member discriminated against minority readers. Unfortunately, when it was our turn in line, she chose to ignore us and another librarian from a different desk, who is already busy had to step in and assist us. This caused confusion among her colleagues, who seemed perplexed by her actions. Instead of addressing the situation, she simply stood up and looked outside the window, as if nothing had occurred. Given that Ridgewood is a diverse town, it is disheartening to encounter a librarian who does not treat patrons of minority backgrounds with the same level of service as other individuals. I find it puzzling that she continues to be employed, especially considering that her absence puts additional strain on her colleagues who are already busy.

There are several floors and there are lots of tables for studying silently equipped with cords for charging. Sometimes employees in reference talk but most of the time it is silent.

Nice place for presentations and borrow books, DVD s, etc. Parking gets complicated when sports events are going on.
