Finally, I had the time to try some local bbq. I was 2nd in-line and got to try some brisket. Got the plate meal with 2 sides. The collard greens were good not great. The smoked potato salad was okay. The brisket was okay. The corn bread was okay. The sauces were excellent and the restaurant was really fun. I wish they had a sampler plate so I could try everything. Maybe they did, but I didn’t see it. Second trip and tried the worlds driest ribs. The collard greens were awesome and the Mac n cheese was very good as well. The baked beans needed more time to cook and the cornbread was not good.

THE place for BBQ in Asheville so we had to check it out. Brisket and pork were excellent as was the beer that was brewed there. You order at a window and the food is brought to your table. Pretty stark ambiance but we came for the food not the atmosphere. Recommend!

We went right when they first opened it, and there was already a line out the door. I expected fantastic barbecue based on the smell in the air, the line out the door, and the online reviews about Obama coming twice. We were not super impressed. They only had chopped brisket (not sliced), which pretty much tasted like sloppy Joe’s with no smoky flavor because it was smothered in sauce. The pulled pork was kind of bland and dry. The beans tasted like they were canned. The corn pudding and cornbread were the only things we really liked. Everyone was Nice, and the food came out super fast, but overall I’m not sure that I would call this one of the top barbecue joints. Our chain bbq restaurants in Ga are better. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating

We had come here several years ago when it was at its old location. I couldn't wait to eat here today. The food is delicious! We really liked the blueberry Chipotle 💙 ribs!! I of course had to have the pulled pork. My daughters mac n cheese and smoked potatoes were great and would definitely get them again. The service was great!! The staff were all so kind and were good at keeping up with the crowd

Always a guaranteed good meal. 12 Bones has a fantastic brisket. I love the dry rubbed ribs. For the daring try the hot hot Bbq ribs. For safe but I'm not sure healthy there is a terrific pulled chicken. Just add your side...Mac and cheese, slaw, cornbread, okra, etc and you won't be disappointed. This location is along the river in an old warehouse section. A great spot to hangout, bike ride or walk.

Best ribs I ever put in my mouth! Blueberry Chipotle FTW! The sauce bar has interesting selections too, like a spicy vinegar for the collard greens and a Jalapeño sauce

Had take-out: Rib Sandwich & Mac-n-cheese. The Mac was definitely nothing special. You’re better off with the boxed stuff from the grocery store. The rib meat was chewy, which I don’t mind, but some would. It had jalapeño slices, sautéed onions & queso sauce drizzled on top. Not bad, but definitely not worth the price. I’ve had better meals from here in the past. I recommend the pulled pork & corn pudding.

In all honesty, 12 Bones Smokehouse in Asheville dishes out good barbecue. Overall, my party had a really good experience. I'd give it a 4.4/5, but since it's not quite 4.5 I'll round it down to 4/5. For $20 I was a bit thrown off by the amount of chopped brisket I received. I really thought there'd be at least another two ounces or so. However, the flavor was fantastic. This place is quite large inside, with plenty of seating outdoors as well. I really enjoyed the kolsch on tap, and there's a neat gift shop between the ordering area and indoor dining area. Good stuff, 12 Bones.

Located in the art district. Ordered a half rack of ribs and wanted to try their pulled pork. Ribs fell off the bone. Tons of meat, brown sugar seasoning was what I wanted. They have dipping sauces to use their. Pulled pork was spot on, Mac and cheese was tasty. Collard greens, not my thing so I can’t judge those. Washed it all down with some urban cider. Will be back again

I wanted to give it 3.5 but half stars aren't allowed. The pulled pork was solid, juicy and good flavor. The side dish of sweet potatoes was lacking in flavor. Pass on by that one and try something else when you give this place a try

I ordered ribs and pulled pork. I have to say this is the best ribs and pulled pork I’ve had. The staff was friendly and restrooms were clean. The food came out quick and hot. There was plenty of seating inside and all kinds of seating outside. A+ 12 Bones!!!

All of us agreed that it was the best barbecued ribs we ever had. We got the brown sugar rub. The sauces were all great. A couple of us split the half rack of ribs. With that you get to pick two sides. Our absolute favorite side was the smoked potato salad which was outstanding! Also enjoyed the cucumber salad and the coleslaw.

Waited about 30 minutes in a line outside. I'd definitely do it again. Some of the best pulled pork I've ever had, even without sauce. Fiance loved the blueberry chipotle ribs. Corn pudding is also super good. We'll definitely be adding this place to our list of places to come back to.

What kind of idiot goes to a BBQ joint and orders a Wedge salad? Me. It was completely covered in fried onions. I found a tiny bit of lettuce under that and there were 4 slices of cucumber and one slice of tomato. And a lot of “sweet bacon” which was not bacon bits but real bacon that was delicious but I would have preferred a big wedge of lettuce. On the way out the man at the cash register asked if we enjoyed our meal and I mentioned how there was way more fried onions than lettuce in the Wedge salad. He was rude but said they’re serving organic lettuce and showed the size of the head of lettuce with his hands. It’s a softball size. I love that they serve organic lettuce! But wish they served the whole head with a garnish of fried onions. Waited in a SLOW line standing in the sun for this. :(

Stopped by for probably the best6Philly cheese steak with Mac and cheese and some baked beans that I've ever had. If you get there at the right time the wait is minimal, that said the line moves fast. The food came out fast and hot, servers were polite and friendly. We sat outside under a big tent with plenty of seating

Solid food offerings and good portions. The wings were hands down the best part of the meal (ribs still good) and would purchase again without hesitation. Peanut butter pie for dessert was a nice addition.

We love BBQ and trying new places is always on the to do, and this place is a must for anyone who loves BBQ and beer. You get online to order then a number to put on your table. There’s plenty of seating inside and out and the food comes quickly. We had the 1/2 rack with beans and mac’n cheese, a “taste” of pulled chicken & pulled pork, and a slab of corn bread. It was knock out! The ribs were melt in your mouth and the mac’n cheese so creamy, everything was delicious but those two really stood out. Only open limited hours and during the week so if you can put this on your must try lots of places.

The best BBQ around! Not a single dish or meat we didn't like, loved it all! Ordered too much, but had amazing leftovers! Great friendly staff, fun environment and so many great food options!! We really enjoyed everything about our experience and will definitely be back and bring friends and family!

Food was delicious, staff were incredibly kind and personable, and the atmosphere has a quirky appeal to it (but kind of expected being in the River Arts District). Tried a pork plate with greens and cornbread - simple presentation and yet it was all fantastic. Definitely happy this one wasn't overlooked while checking out Foundy Street.

So I've been here before, but the other location. I thought the atmosphere and service were excellent, but I was a little disappointed in the meal. I got the ribs, baked beans, and mac and cheese. I felt the ribs could have been more tender and were a bit dry. The beans I thought were a little bit hard, like they could have been cooked a little longer. The mac and cheese were good, and the corn bread was alright. It could be my expectations based on previous visits, but as someone who talks up this place, I was a little disappointed. Will I come back, probably because everything can't be perfect every time and I hope this was a fluke.

I'm glad I was able to visit an Asheville institution, but man I was pretty disappointed. Even one of the workers looked at my brisket and asked, "is that dry??". I wasn't going to complain, I just assumed that's how they do brisket in North Carolina. It looked like bacon and was super fry. Don't get me wrong, even bad brisket is still pretty good, but this might be the worst I've ever had at a BBQ place. Even the ribs were just okay, which I expected to be much better considering all of the flavors they do. The slaw was just okay, but I really liked the collards and especially the grits! Overall, for $48 I would say it was a big bust.

No Bones about it, the BBQ was delicious! We split a few items and sides to sample a bit of everything. Had the ribs with blueberry Chipotle sauce and also the habanero pineapple sauce (with a bit of a kick) and yummy sides. This is worth a wait!

This place is amazing! Sides tasted home made and were really good. I also got their brown sugar rub and honey chipotle ribs and they were really good. Rub ribs were a tiny bit dry, but their bbq sauce fixed that really fast. I liked this place so much that I also bought their book and 2 sauces so I can make their food in my home smoker.

We did pickup and the food traveled well. The Jalepeno cheese grits were my favorite. The mac and cheese was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't very cheesy and tasted like plain noodles. The ribs and the smoked turkey were fantastic. We like that you can order small sides of meat to try more things. It was a bit expensive considering the small size of the sides, but for the most part it was delicious and well worth it.

Nestled in the graffiti section of the Ashville River walk section of town is a great meatery. We got a little sampler of the smoked meats and a brisket sandwich. Def would recommend the brisket sandwich w Mac n cheese, The cornbread was a little light for me. The chicken, turkey, pork, and ribs smoked meats platter was nice. I personally liked the chicken and brisket the most, then the ribs and the turkey were decent, turkey almost a sweet taste to it. But the smoked pork didn't seem to have too much flavor imo.

The MOST DELICIOUS bbq I’ve ever had. I am not a huge bbq person, but this was incredible. Everything was so good!! If you don’t like celery you may not like the slaw. From the pork, to the sides, to the sauce, down to the sweet tea.. amazing. Highly recommend.

I tried 3 proteins; blueberry chipotle ribs (5* among the best I've ever had), pulled pork (4*) & the smoked turkey - very flavorful/succulent (5*). Legit cornbread. Collard greens & corn casserole were 💰. Friendly service & they also brew their own beer (several styles), I'll vouch for the Stay Golden light lager.
