The food here is amazing! The chef has put together unique dishes that are both lite and exploding with flavor! Definitely get the blackened tuna appetizer! And the warm water sea bass is super tasty! The service equaled the delightful food! Shilah made the meal that much better, with her attentive, yet unimposing service. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu

Dinner at Oceano was amazing. We were accommodated as requested with outdoor seating since we had our dog with us. Our server, John, was top notch. He even brought a bowl of water for our dog first before anything else, which we definitely appreciated! Food was amazing. And they even made a special burger for our dog! They have the best chocolate chip cookie in St Louis. Can’t wait to return!!

We were promptly seated. The customer service was very good. The wait for our food was over an hour but the food was very good. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is outstanding. I had the oxtails and they were very tender but they didn't have a lot of flavor or gravy. After I mix the oxtails with my cabbage it was outstanding. I also ordered the baked chicken to go and it was very juicy but the portion was small. I would definitely recommend it. If you have a large party you need to call ahead or make reservations

Oceano Bistro is a good restaurant, but I was a little disappointed in the food. I tried brunch at this restaurant and I ordered the Baja Shrimp Hash and Biscuts and Gravy. We were given a complementary cinnamon roll to begin our meal, it was delicious. To drink we ordered hot tea, they had a good selection of tea. The Baja Shrimp Hash had very few shrimp and the shrimp were smaller than salad sized shrimp, in my opinion. The flavor was okay, but I had to add a little heat to get some depth of flavor. The Biscuts and Gravy we're pretty flavorful, I was expecting sausage gravy but there was no meat in the gravy. The servers were very friendly and courteous, the manager stopped by, and he was very nice. At the time I didn't think to tell the manager what I thought of the food I was just beginning my meal. Overall, this was a good restaurant, I just expected a little more.

Great food and desert. Server was John and he was a gem. Thanks for the great service! Would go back again. Had a cherry tomato arugula salad with goat cheese, the Lemon crab Risotto and Chocolate chip cookies for desert.

The food was amazing! We had the most lovely server. He was so attentive and on everything with his suggestions. Everything we ordered was not only delicious and perfectly paired, but beautifully plated and lovely. We tried everything since it was our first time visited, we were not disappointed; moreover, we were impressed. The desserts were phenomenal! I literally could not think of a single thing that would make it better. I'm not sure how it took us so long to visit, but we will be back....often!

Oceano continues to be one of the better dining spots in Clayton and after dining here for over ten years I have never left unsatisfied. The food is excellent, atmosphere pleasant and staff always friendly and on task. My one note would be keep working to create new specials 😊

I was supposed to have a nice dinner to celebrate my partners birthday but we were so grossed out by the toughness of the fried calamari that we just asked for a wine bottle to go and the check. Waiter and host had great customer service. Waiter was kind enough to ask “management” on her own if we could have a discounted price for the calamari since we only had a couple bites but after he turned to look at us, he denied. Same “management” that made the table next to us uncomfortable because of how much talking he was doing. Couldn’t even come to us and apologize. Didn’t think I would notice? I’d recommend going if you’re trying to complete a goal of eating at every place in STL. Or enjoy terrible fried calamari.

While visiting St. Louis we had the awesome privilege of having dinner at Oceano Bistro in Clayton, Mo. OMG the place was elegant, waiters superb and menu variety excellent and freshest seafood we’ve ever encountered. We had Gilled Salmon, Shrimp Scampi, Pork Chops, Potato Pancakes w/bacon and cheesecake. Next time you’re looking for great, fresh seafood and visit or live in St. Louis, please visit this venue, it’s well worth the money.

Surprisingly average for a restaurant that seems eager to position itself as upscale. Both regular menu lunch sandwiches were pretty bland with the piece of fish on the Hawaiian Fish Sandwich so small that it was drowned out by the toppings and bun. For a place with “ocean” in its name, it’s also kind of disappointing that the fish entrees were significantly more underwhelming than the chicken flatbread appetizer. At least they were very generous with their fries. Nothing terrible, just very, very average. There’s no reason for us to go back.

Very friendly waiting staff. Fancy atmosphere but still very welcoming and casual feeling. I had a wind time here and I would definitely recommend the Bass Trout! I was happily surprised with the food. I actually really hate mushrooms but the chief’s sauce was so delicious you couldn’t tell you were eating them or the string beans for that matter. All around highly recommend if your in the mood for some seafood. 😁

Posted a glowing review 7/8 on Trip Advisor (food & ambiance) and had the option to send a private note to restaurant. It’s been three weeks with no response from the restaurant, so I am sharing. If my very accurate evaluation of our service experience is acknowledge, I am happy to delete and copy the very positive review which was already posted on other sites. Service this evening was atrocious. Pierre was very polite, but after he took our order he did not return to the table one time until he dropped off a dessert menu. He had the outdoor section and we were his one inside table. He was literally only seen when walking past our table. Never one time stopped to check on us. No bread service was ever offered. Iced tea was never refilled. My salad was either forgotten or just left in the kitchen. It was finally brought to the table by a different server after my entree had been entirely consumed. Manager stopped by the table shortly after we were seated, and after finding out it was our first visit, he said he was going to bring out a sample of the chef's soup for us to try. Never saw him again and no soup was ever delivered. An entirely different server delivered our entrees and asked my wife if she would like Parmesan for her scampi. She said yes, and yet another empty promise - no Parmesan ever made it to the table. We will be back because the food was exceptional, but your team needs to focus on follow up. Under promise and over deliver rather than vice versa.

A cozy atmosphere suitable for both family and business dinners. The complementary bread was crispy and the oil had spice in it. It was the first time I was impressed by the oil that came with the bread. The Caesar salad was average. The salad was not very fresh, so maybe they cut the salad in the morning and use it for the rest of the day. But it was still good- I recommend it if you are craving salad. Kobe beef sliders were simply four pieces of plain burgers. The meat was well cooked and I could not taste any Kobe-ness in it. This one I would not recommend. The trout was fried and matched with the green beans. The mushroom sauce was also a good fit. I’d say this was good to fair.

We are from Florida. Had flight issues and could not leave as scheduled. Found this little gem while searching around Clayton. Our server , Corey, was excellent. Meals were great. Lemon crab risotto!! Oysters were outstanding & ¹surprisingly fresh. Wine prices were extremely reasonable. Totally unexpected. We had 2 bottles of a Sonoma Chardonnay. Under $40 per bottle. All 3 meals were great. Atmosphere reminded me of California casual. Lunch could not have worked out better for us.

The staff was amazing and attentive, the food variety spanned the spectrum of my family from meat eaters to veterinarians and everyone left full, sadly before dessert. The photos are only from my and the wife as I didn’t ask the extended family to photo their food.

If you don't go here for nothing else you have to go for the cinnamon roll that they give you on the house. They are huge and delicious auth a nice crunch. Both potatoes and hash browns are good and flavorful. Didn't like the fried French toast they was to hard for me.The lobster omelette was the special and I can say they was heavy on the amount of lobster they put in it.For my friend birthday they gave her a cheesecake peice.

We dropped by Oceano because the original place we wanted to eat had a wait list an hour long. We were impressed with the service and food. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with us in making our lunch decisions. He was patient and friendly. We'd come back for the service alone. The food was wonderful. I could have used a lot more hollandaise sauce on my Benedict but that's more of a "me wanting more" thing than it is anything else. And oh my heavens they gave us a complimentary cinnamon roll to share and I'm a very food motivated person so as soon as our waiter asked if we were interested I was excited. It was probably one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had!

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and had a good experience. The waitress who served us was great - she came in to check on us to make sure we’re doing okay and provided follow-up on how long out food will take before it gets served. The wait time definitely took a while. We ordered fried calamari for appetizer. The sauce was delicious and the batter was flavorful but I find the calamari itself is a bit chewy and we got more flour than anything. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and thought it was delicious. I ordered the halibut which I find a bit dry. Parts of my food was flavorless and the other salty and so as the lobster (dry and chewy) that we shared. I think for a place whose service seafood, they need to make sure that what their serving isn’t overcooked. Overall all, friendly staff, great plating, flavor was okay, texture? not so much which really made my fine dining experience here sub par.

“Wanna be fancy” seafood restaurant for older people, it does cost $$$ but not worth the money by any means, the chowder came lumpy with raw flour clumps, super chewy and rubbery fried calamari. The grilled shrimps with zucchini were ok as a healthy dish, but lacked any flavor. I am sorry we left about $80 there for a more than mediocre meal. The service was great though, they replaced my soup immediately

The food was delicious, and the service was exceptionally outstanding!!! Our server was Edward, and he deserves a reward! He went so far above and beyond to make sure our entire visit was perfect. We will definitely be back, and will make sure he is working and we can sit at his table prior to visiting for sure!
