Schmaltz's is far and away the best sandwich shop in town. Their homemade bread is fantastic, and really it's what takes their sandwiches over the top. It's been years since I had eaten here last, but the quality has not wavered a bit. Since the last time I visited, they have introduced a jalapeno cheddar bread. They were out at the time, but I will be coming back more often to try and get some! I also recommend trying their wheat bread, I think it's even better than the white bread as if that was even possible! Their portions are huge, and their large sandwich always satisfies. Can't go wrong with any sandwich on the menu either! The only knock I have on my latest visit was that I asked for no tomatoes and I received tomatoes. Not a big deal, and definitely not enough to keep me from giving 5 stars.

Amazing food! Have never been let down. Always consistent and good! My wife and I got the blue plate specials. I got the large and she got the small. Comes with a drink and chips.

Most disgusting food ever. Subway would have been a better option. If I’m gonna pay $40 bucks for sandwiches I expect it to be a higher quality than just Bar-S meats it doesn’t have to be Boarshead just better than slimy Bar-S. they burnt the bacon on my wife’s BLT (which hardly had any bacon on it) this was my first and last time here

These sandwiches are so good we looked for this sandwich shop again! They did not disappoint. The sandwiches were not soggy, had great flavor, and remind me of my most favorite sub shop.

Best sandwiches in town! I ordered a blue plate with LG Schmaltz sandwich (with no onion, tomatoes, or olives) and it definitely hits the spot and had my other half for leftovers. The bread is amazing. Highly recommend dining here!

Great bread. Fortunately I had the jalapeño cheese bread. Really can taste the homemade flavor. The meat on its own is average at best but Schmaltz does wonders by turning the blah meat into a 5-star sandwich. Seasoned and topped to be delicious. I recommend the blue plate special with potato salad. Some of the best.

I LOVE their sandwiches! This is my most favorite sandwich shop in the world. It is locally owned and has been in Waco for as long as I can remember. I worked here in the 80's when I was a teenager. I still love that yummy homemade Schmaltz's bread.

This is the best sandwich shop in town. They make wonderful sandwiches and are always super busy. If you want to try it out for lunch call ahead because, there so busy you'll end up waiting 20 min due to the number of fellow patrons. Don't skip out on this awesome sandwich shop.

Got the pastrami sandwich for a low-key lunch while stopping through Waco - had to wait a little for it but it was worth it! Came out warm, and the pastrami was great quality. The bread was really special - you can tell it was baked fresh. Crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside!

The best sandwiches are made here! The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. We made a stop here on our way to Austin had lunch then on our way back we stopped by again had lunch and packed up 15 sandwiches to go! My family loves Schmaltz’s! I could go on and on about their food. It is definitely a must try!

My husband had the roast beef sandwich with potato salad, and I the pastrami sandwich with potato salad as well. Both meals were absolutely delicious! I can see why this establishment has been around for years. Highly recommended 👌

Great sandwich! Fluffy buttery bread with melted cheese on the original Schmaltz ; nice open air environment and seating.

Fresh ingredients. The star here for me was definitely the jalapeño bread, which I believe is a limited offer since there was a sign posting stating it will only be offered for one week. Got two sandwiches, the schmaltz and the pastrami. Like I said the ingredients were fresh but the meat seems pretty basic lunch meat. Nicely put together sandwiches but lacking in flavor

Whenever I travel to Waco, I have to eat at schmaltz’s! The best sandwiches you’ve ever tasted, and the staff is wonderful. I have been to both locations and you will not be disappointed at either one.

You can't go wrong with a Schmaltz's sandwich. I usually get the large and and bag of chips, I am a big eater so that might be to much for some or left overs. I have eaten here many times during my life and it is the same tastey food every time.
