Summer exhibition this was absolutely stunning, well curated, clearly a labor of love and there was such a good spread of art. The band playing and free drinks were a really nice touch. It's an interesting space to visit even when there isn't a special exhibition, this is my second visit and the first was also wonderful.

What a marvellous building and space. Went to see Francis Bacon and was blown away by how it had been curated. 9 Galleries which you are expertly walked round by the Guide book. Wonderful chandeliers too! You still have to book slot times but it was busy nonetheless.

Went to the Marina Abramovix exhibition. This was a deep and thought provoking view into the mind of the artist. It's a very moving exhibition. Not suitable for children, some tasteful nudity. It's ab absolute must if you know about this artist

The Summer Exhibition’s always a delight and this is when they get most of their traffic. There were some brilliant pieces here this year as well as lots that hit the ‘is it art?’ and ‘I could have done that’ mark. Entry are notably higher than when I was last in London but that’s true of everything. Definitely worth your time if you’re in the area, and a worthy destination anyway.

I have seen some amazing exhibitions at the Royal Academy of the Arts, Including Tracey Emin/ Edvard Munch and Francis Bacon, Man and Beast. Both breathtaking curated exhibitions, which were worth every penny for a ticket. Rich for its history, The RA is an amazing place for anyone to spend day and immerse themselves in the art on offer. Lovely Cafes, gift shop and free lockers provided to store belongings. Accommodating for all and fantastic staff, cannot recommend enough.

Coffee, quiche and sandwich in the Poster Bar were really good. The Helene Binet exhibition was excellent. Loved her photos of buildings. Then, John Constable as you have seen him and maybe as you haven't. The Royal Academy at its best.

I came here to visit the Heroz & De Meuron exhibition. This Swiss architecture firm is one of the top architecture practices in the world. Notable building Tate Modern, National Stadium in Beijing, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and many more. You'll see models from previous projects to slide shows and upcoming projects. National Art Pass offers a small discount on admission.

I have never been inside the building. However, I used to work in this area, and it was great for lunch and great to chill out on good sunny summer ☀️ days. Been there a few days ago, and it's still the same. There is a number of other academies like chemistry and a few others.

Went to see the Summer Exhibition 2021 as a guest of Sky VIP. Greeted with a free guide book, glass of Proseco, and a lovely chocolate. Lots of great exhibits, definitely worth a look.

I went there on a week day and didn't know the Burlington house is where the RAA is located but finally found it. And this exhibition is a must see. The Entangled Past 1768-now.

Summer exhibition 2022 Fabulous building, the exhibition was delightful lucky to be invited to a private viewing. Polite staff, well looked after, the exhibits vary enormously! Surprised to see the art prices (especially those seen in the tv documentary). Must invest time to contribute an art piece! Throughly enjoyable evening. ( the black framed flowers piece worth £35k)

Went to see the Francis Bacon: Man and Beast exhibition in March 2022 the venue is easy to get to from Piccadilly Circus tube station. The places is nice and well staffed, the exhibition we saw was well curated but quite expensive about £25 a ticket, it was incredibly busy despite being after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. However it was worth seeing and given the lists involved in obtaining art from across the world, some pieces had to be in chilled cases, makes the cost understandable. Gift shop was the right. I’m of education and fun.

Had to drag myself away from the Kyosai exhibition - fantastic to see so many works that haven't seen the light for many years. Also, most are large scale works, and sensitively set out in the spacious galleries. Worth the trip to London for.

I recently attended the summer exhibition, and although the £22 price tag felt a bit steep, it was undeniably worth it. The atmosphere was fantastic, surrounded by captivating works of art in the stunning Royal Academy of Art building. I appreciated the option of having alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments during the visit, even though I didn't partake. Many seemed to enjoy the treat while exploring the exhibition. If you're a fan of contemporary art, this is definitely an event worth visiting every year!

A fabulous impressionist collection with diverse art including sculptures, drawings and paintings. Impressionists on Paper has an interesting take on how impressionists saw the potential for paper, capturing moments of truth with pencil, pen or chalk.

Always a treat coming to see the art shows here! This institution has reputation, is a beautiful place to visit for art shows, occasional late shows and our favourite, enjoy coffee and a chat in their famous courtyard. Today we loved interracting with the beautiful The First Supper sculpture by Tavares Strachan.. a great conversation piece in every way!

A lovely blend of older and newer works of art. I really loved the summer art exhibition that was on and I thought it was brilliant, fresh and youthful. Would recommend going here especially if you or a friend are a meme we as there are lots of cool extra bits to see.

Summer Exhibition (albeit late) somehow signaling all is well(ish) in London. Can't believe I'm actually writing this but Tracey Emin's 4 pieces stunning; agony, awful pain, every women's nightmare of abdominal disaster! 12 'disciples' - i.e. deceased rock gods at the Last Supper - excellent. Loved especially the footwear, drinks & the drugs on the table. Plus the shop has reopened & projects an air of certainty; Christmas is not about to be cancelled. Prescient artist (gas crisis, wot gas crisis) with the 'fire' in the corner made me laugh out loud. Lots to engage, ignore, admire & sneer at. It were grand!

Summer Exhibition was out of this world! Visited on the last day before closing, and the buzz was real. Highly recommend going every year, I know I'll make it a regular on our calendar. Facilities at the RA are well equipped, clean and presentable. Cafe looked nice especially in the courtyard. As well as pleasant toilets.

Easy to get to either via Green Park or Piccadily tube stops and easy walk from Oxford Street. Stunning building, with entrances at either end of the building. There are steps and lifts for access inside and free lockers to store away any coats or bags. There are free and pre-booked paid exhibtions to see. I managed to get into a paid exhibition without booking, possibly because it was quiet time of day. There are discounts for disabled, their carers and child prices. Paid exhibitions are bookable online or at the desk and you can even get a sneak preview of what to expect on the website. There is also gift shops and cafe.

Beautiful building, which exhibits some great art and sculpture exhibitions. The academy is in the heart of green park, and the closest station is green park station. It also has a really nice cafe, and wine bar/restaurant. The staff are very kind and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you are into classical art and culture. Some exhibitions are free, while some are paid.

Summer exhibition- somewhat delayed - interesting mix of material types compared to previous years, prints rubbing shoulders with paintings for example. Emphasis on African Art, exceptional talent in display. Couldn't leave without a cheeky Grayson Perry photo. Not too crowded (still required to book ahead). Recommended

Visited the Souls Grown Deep like the Rivers exhibition and the Summer Exhibition. Enjoyed both exhibitions which were both very different but excellent. It was quite busy but not too crowded. Lots of staff around to help. Bought SGDLTR posters which will be framed. Highly recommend.

The building is well worth seeing in its own right, we went to see the Kyosai exhibition. Displayed and curated beautifully it kept us occupied for a couple of hours. It was busy but with a lot to see and plenty of space it was easy to get a good look at the art works. Would be 5 stars except for the food offerings. The is an expensive restaurant or a cafe with limited choices. We were put off by the flies on the food. If you have limited mobility getting to the exhibition areas from the entrance would be a challenge.

Did not actually go inside the gallery to view the art/exhibits. But their courtyard is lovely, with a little cafe by the building entrance and lots of open/outdoor seating both in the cafe area as well as the center of the courtyard. Nice spot to rest a little from walking around Oxford St/Regent St and Piccadilly Circus.

Attending the last day of the Summer Exhibition was never going to be a quiet event but it was very busy indeed. Nonetheless the RA allows visitors to move round at their own pace without interference. There are seats at convenient spots, and the coffee stand outside was most welcome.

Amazing arts centre. It has both free exhibitions and charged exhibitions. Toilet is available. There are cafes both outside and inside. There is a nice store on the first floor.

My second visit to the Royal Academy, the first was Schiele/Klimt, I have been waiting for this since I saw it announced. The perfect artist to compare to Hokusai at the British Museum, Constable has few peers of equal talent when depicting atmospheric condition, apart from his great competitor Turner. The level of detail in some of the sketches looks almost like parallel evolution against Hokusai. The amount of information contained in a 3-minute lighting pen and ink sketch was absolutely phenomenal. Great exhibition, if you only go for the weather! Fantastic venue.. Easy to get to. Going back very soon.

Data and privacy issues. Require you to enter all your personal details before you can see availability for exhibitions. Unnecessarily they now have my personal data, which I'm really angry about, as I've never booked a ticket and never visited.

So lovely to be able to go to an exhibition at the RA again. We saw Tracey Emin/Munch and thoroughly enjoyed considering the human condition and feelings of loneliness, loss and love, so poignant in these times.

If you have any interest in art then this is a must see destination. On this visit there was a David Hockney exhibition of his paintings done in Spring 2020. Marvellous! Getting into the building is free but special exhibitions cost and need booking well in advance. A good selection of refreshment options.

  • 5/5 Dom A. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful building on which to see David Hockney and his exhibition of iPad paintings. See the standing exhibition upstairs too where you can enjoy some outstanding pre-Raphaelite art. If you can poke your nose round the door to the Friend's cafe. Even when you visit the toilets downstairs, there's a whole sculptural experience on the doorstep in further beautiful galleries. The shop is also well worth a visit and the painted ceilings in many of the galleries make for a great day out!
