very interesting fairytale place with aristocratic spirit! the place is very good for weekend walks. with the Great Garden and the spirit of the whole estate one manages to abstract from the energetic modern city life

The ticket costs 10€. But inside there are few rooms to see. Beautiful park, this is where you should take a walk.

Villa Hügel - more like a castle with Italien or French flair. Impressive to see how the Krupp dynasties lived there from 1880 to 1945. Fair price of 5 EUR to visit. You should plan 1 hour for the house and at least 1-2 hours for the park / gardens.

The Krupp manor and gardens up on a hill, once built there by the industrialist Alfred Krupp. Besides the Various Important and Good Deeds (let us not ignore) the family more or less Sponsored Hitler’s rise to power 👀 and were involved largely in the production of artillery during World War II. VillaHügel. Interesting place, and very spectacular Interiors. Entrance fee is €5 per person and includes the entire museum visit, gardens, parking ☝️👍

Great way to remind ourselves to look into a little bit of the history. Really loved the experience its well kept. Used translator app to see a lot of descriptions of artifacts but over all still found it to be a well worth experience.

If one works in a ticket office, the job that should be done is to seriously sell tickets. But I encountered a very strange thing yesterday, I bought two tickets at the entrance, but this 'rigorous' lady, only gave me some useless things, but I didn't receive the two tickets I bought tickets. The first time I came here, I thought the pile of stuff in my hand was the ticket. After driving into the park, there was no clear guidance on the whole road telling me where to park the car. After driving along the road, we went straight to the exit. The workers here are an old lady and an old gentleman. They are very unfriendly, obviously hostile and discriminatory towards Asians, they stereotyped that I don't understand German, and communicated with me impatiently. I asked them where the parking lot was and he let us go out the gate. After we parked the car outside the door, they said please show the ticket, but thanks to the "entrance strict lady", I didn't have a ticket. The 'exit unfriendly lady', after contacting her colleagues on the phone, actually asked us to drive to the entrance and get tickets before entering the park. This is unreasonable, because the consequences caused by your work mistakes should not be borne by passengers! Very bad experience, especially dissatisfied, if you can't do this job well, please take the blame and resign, and leave the opportunity to those who really need this job.

Tucked away in the city of Essen, Villa Hugel is the epitome of opulence and historical grandeur. The stunning mansion, once the residence of the esteemed Krupp family, is an architectural marvel, with a breathtaking display of intricate woodworks, most notably the awe-inspiring staircase. The first floor's expansive living room, boasting a beautiful glass ceiling, will make you feel like you've stepped into another era. As you meander through the mansion, don't miss the rich collection of paintings, each telling a fascinating story. Outside, the verdant park and garden are a perfect complement to the villa's grandeur. The visit is made even more engaging with an augmented reality application, breathing new life into this historical gem. And with commendable attention to accessibility for elderly and disabled visitors, Villa Hugel ensures an inclusive and enriching experience for all.

Overall a very bad experience, staff unfriendly as hell. Almost no breathing is allowed, if you show up a camera they treat you as a criminal and follow you. We don’t recommend it, there are many other historic places in Germany. This one is a no go.

Visiting the villa today with our son and my sister who happens to visit us in the NL. The villa itself is very beautiful, but our visit was unfortunately nothing more than an uncomfortable experience. Two staffs were very friendly, but many of of them were very rude, disrespectful and annoying. Told us to not making a video or panoramic picture which is understandable. But that would be great if they told us in a nicer and friendly way to inform us. Then one lady came and told my son off, to not play with his car toy on something. He didn't even touch that, we won't let him do that! We kept our eyes on him and stayed close to him all the time. From that moment, that lady kept following us and kept looking at our son as if he is a criminal really! It was very uncomfortable and very disappointing, we won't recommend this place to anyone. What a waste!:-(

The country house of the Krupp family... Really impressive in terms of how spacious and luxurious it is, with a private wood and gardens next to the river... Great outdoors visit for the Ruhr area...

a very beautiful historical place, it will be useful for children and teenagers to go on a tour, as it is part of the history of Essen and the whole land of NRW in general. It can be seen that the place is cared for and properly serviced, very modern information is presented regarding the history of the Krupp’s family and the history of Villa Hugel estate in general. By the way, tours are free every first Friday of the month. There is parking and snacks, a good place for walks.

Beautiful place to visit, but when taking pictures we were discouraged a lot. At least when I used my nice camera instead of my phone.... If you want to get a nice photo of yourself in a nice place, don't go here. Otherwise it's a nice place to visit.

I've seen a few castles and museums in my day. I am not sure if I am being fair, historical building with large ballrooms and art work of the family. I was very disappointed nothing to show life of the family. No video but you can take pictures, verboten... just incase you cannot climb the staircase....

The house is visually impressive, but there is no information in English there, nor in the clunky app. So we did not enjoy it so much. On a sunny day the gardens are probably gorgeous to wander around.

A reasonable 5 euro admission with free parking. Lovely home of the Krupp family with historical information and displays. Two main houses to see, the small and large. The large is very grandiose with an amazing upstairs space and remarkable ceiling. Nice grounds to walk round.

This is an impressive villa that underwent redecorating after the first owner died. The family portraits in the entrance hall are great. We went on a guided tour. Otherwise we would not have learned anything about the place as it's not a museum with a curated exhibition. Rather, the villa is mainly used for Foundation events and concerts. They have a small exhibition on the Krupp family in a side wing of the house. I would have loved to get more hardcore history facts. But it was a nice visit.

If you are interested in knowing more about the house the elite used to Live in in previous centuries this is a good choice. Inside is beautiful. From outside you just see stones but the moment you enter everything becomes wooden, even the floor which screams under your steps. I mostly like the office and the library. The view from house is fantastic.

Quite far from mass tourism although it is the first museum I've ever seen which doesn't have the descriptions in english. So you can fully enjoy it only if you understand german.

Impressive! Definitely worth a visit. You'll need roughly two hours. Visit recommended on a sunny day, so you can have a long walk through the amazing park.

A visit to the Villa Hügel and the park surrounding it is definitely worthwhile. The admission fee is also very reasonable at 5 euros. The signage is either ineffective or missing. As you approach the site, you come face to face with a barrier, which does not go any further. There is a small sign that reads "cash register.". To get to the ticket booth, you have to park in the middle of the street. Security is cashing in and opening the barrier. As I drove up to the barrier for the first time, I turned around. My first thought was that it couldn't possibly be a driveway.

The stately home of the famous Krupp family. Really well preserved with a lovely museum and a massive park. Definitely one of the nicest attractions in the area that I know of. You can easily spend quite some time here

👍👍 That is a really beautiful and nice place in the middle of the city. There’s a lot of space for everyone! Playground for kids, lake, grass, playground for adults:) It’s not crowded, and you can enjoy it! In the summer lots of people sitting here with friends, playing games! Love it!
